pidionshvuim8 Action Alert! Letter from Mrs. Goldsmith to Israel Embassy.

bs"d

Dear Friends, amv"sh

The following letter was sent to me from Israel on Pesach by Pidyon Shvuyim.  Please respond accordingly to the inhumane treatment of a family, including a pregnant mother who according to the writer of the letter, were thrown out of their new home in Negahot before the Holiday, by the IDF.  This military action, equipped with American made vehicles, American made weapons and American made uniforms, evicted the family,  together with their 5 kids on the eve of the holiday.  Their crime is apparently their desire to live in their home in Negahot, the Land of  their Entitlement.  Apparently, the Israel gov't and the American foreign policy do not recognize their entitlement as they failed to recognize the entitlement of those families from Gush Katif.  Apparently they prefer the Hamas and Al Qaida strongholds that have replaced the beautiful communities of Gush Katif now a breeding ground for terror sending terror Kassam rockets on a daily basis to Sderot and to Southern Israel.

Mrs. Goldsmith, NY  as well as others, called the Israel Embassy on Pesach but they were closed.  Mrs. Goldsmith then called the emergency number but they hung up on her after hearing her protests. She called back but this time they did not even pick up.  Please read her letter to the Israel Embassy at the end of this email..

Action Alert:  In addition to calling up the Embassy [telephone 202-364-5500], here are additional email addresses to express your outrage at this violation of human dignity and rights of a law abiding family, citizens of the State of Israel, on the eve of a religious holiday by the Israeli army that clearly is following the dictates of American Foreign Policy rather than the Jewish tradition of basic decency.

Pidion Shvuim Alert:
No. 8
Are we talking about a Jewish army?

We are sorry to interrupt your Passover holiday but we turn to you with very disturbing news of how the Israeli army has been violating the religious and human rights of Jews in Judea and Samaria.
On the eve of Passover, the army sent troops to throw out a Jewish family with five young children and a pregnant mother from their home in the community of Negohot in southern Judea.
Imagine you and your family are preparing for the Passover Seder and the Sabbath as Israeli soldiers, equipped with American weapons, American vehicles and even American-made uniforms throw you out from your home, throw out all your prepared food and pots, turn off your gas and electricity and throw out your refrigerator, cokker and oven just hours before the festival.
The crime of the family is not clear other than they entered into a new home built on their property in an established community approved and financed by the government. But these are difficult times when the government of Israel has to prove to the United States the commitment by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to destroy Jewish life through out Judea and Samaria and parts of Jerusalem.
As those who serve and whose children serve in the army, we recognize the need for the defense of country and homeland but what is happening increasingly and the Israeli army is being used against Jews and to defend our enemies.
We ask you to telephone your protest to the Israeli embassy in Washington and to raise this issue with your member of congress.
Call the Israel embassy [telephone 202-364-5500] and ask to speak to the military attache. Stress that you are an American citizen whose support for the Israeli military is based on its protection of Jews. Say that you also plan to discuss this case with your member of Congress who decides on U.S. military aid to Israel.
The Olmert government, with an approval rating of near zero, has refused any accountability to the Israeli people and fears only the Bush administration. Unless we act now, there will be many more young Jews in jail. The Jewish holiday of Passover is about redemption. Let's work to redeem our fellow Jews.

With Love of Israel,
Datya Itzhaki

Dear Sirs,

I'm afraid the response to my phonecall, in which I mentioned my disgust with the Israeli government for evicting a young family from Negahot on the Eve of Passover(!), did not measure up to my expectations of a body representing the State of Israel.  I too would be at a loss to defend the act of evicting a Jewish family on the Eve of a holiday if I were in your place.  But I like to think that I would not take the cowardly route of hanging up and refusing to pick up when the phone rang again.  Then again, perhaps I would be so deeply ashamed and incapable of defending or apologizing for the actions of my country that I too would take the easy way out.

Meanwhile, please register to your government the disgust that I, as an American Jew and  supporter of Israel, feel about the immoral persecution of Jewish citizens for the apparent puprose of currying favor with whomever it is that the current Israeli government is hoping to please with their embarrassing scraping and bowing.  Please let them know, too, that American Jews have more influence with their government than Israelis have with theirs and that American Jews support the government of Israel only so long as it is perceived to be protecting its own people.

Sincerely,
Mrs. J Goldsmith
NY
