Living Shmitta

I realize that most people outside of Israel do not think about Shmittah on a regular basis, but to the Israeli farmer this word has been on his forehead for two years. There was getting the field ready before Shmittah - which was a tremendous amount of work. An extra amount of planting was done before Shmittah and the farmer spent a lot of time making sure his fields would be able to make it "on their own" during the entire year. Many people have commented that this year, in Israel, it rained much more than in previous years - even raining after Pesach and Shavuot! To the Shmittah farmer this was not surprising at all because although watering the fields is permitted (since that merely keeps the trees alive) the farmer tends to water much less in order to follow the Halacha of not improving the trees. Therefore, Hashem Himself sends additional rain during Shmittah to make sure the trees are well cared for! This is not a "bubba-mayseh"... this is 100% true. Ask anyone in Israel and they will tell you how much rain fell this year - all because of Shmittah.

During the actual year of Shmittah, not only is planting forbidden but anything that helps a tree grow is forbidden as well. The main task that cannot be done is pruning which means that trees in Israel look like guys who haven't taken a haircut or shaved in a year... no joke! There are weeds growing everywhere and the tree is wild. Usually, when you visit a vineyard, for example, the trees are very neat and form a "V" like shape. During a regular year the farmer is busy trimming, cutting and shaping the tree so that it produces fewer, yet sweeter and larger, fruit. During Shmittah the farmer cannot do these tasks and the trees are big, bushy and quite wild looking. Believe it or not, because the trees have not been pruned, Shmittah vines produce 20 times the amount of grapes! While this sounds great to me and you, it is not such great news for the farmer. First of all, he cannot do any business with these fruits as they carry the sanctity of Shmittah with them and are called "Kedushat Sh'vi'it". Secondly, because there are so many grapes, they tend to be much smaller and not as sweet as the farmer would like. Most of these grapes rot on the tree and are not used at all, although some of them are used to produce very special "Kedusha Sh'vi'it" wine which - according to the Ramban - fulfills a Torah mitzvah with every drink!

Like I wrote before, most of us don't think much about Shmittah but the Israeli farmer is living and breathing this for a very long time. One of those farmers is a man named Menachem Livni, with whom I visited last week. Menachem has a farm near Kiryat Arba called Sde Calev, the Field of Calev (ben Yefuneh). As you know, Calev was one of the good spies - from this past week's parsha! When Calev entered the land of Israel he immediately went to Hebron to pray and the Tanach states very clearly that regarding the area around Hebron; "the fields of the city and its villages were given to Calev ben Yefuneh" (Divrei Ha'Yamim I, chapter 6 verses 40-41). The land that Menachem has his field was purchased by Jews in 1936 but was untouched for many years until he redeemed it and brought it back to life!

In these fields, Menachem grows grapes and 7 different kinds of cherries. From the grapes, he produces 5 unique wines that are sold under the "Livni Winery" name. He took me through his fields and, as stated above, they were indeed quite overgrown and wild. He showed me the tremendous amounts of grapes growing on the vines and I easily noticed how small they were. He then took me into his cherry orchard and explained the different kinds of cherries that grow there. I asked if I could eat some and he said that I don't need his permission since during Shmittah his fields are "hefker" and therefore anyone can take the fruit. This is what I call living the Torah as opposed to just learning the Torah! For many years I learned that Shmittah fields are hefker but I was now living this in real time! I picked the cherries and... another halacha came into play. Normally, all fruits taken in Eretz Yisrael must have Terumot and Ma'asrot separated but during Shmittah this does not apply so - once again - I lived the halacha with a beautiful, first-hand experience! I munched on these delicious cherries and took a bunch home for my kids. I told my children that these cherries cannot be thrown out or discarded in any way since they have the Kedusha of Shmittah on them so we were careful to eat each and every one!!

3 Generations of Livni's Planting Fruit Trees in Israel

My farmer friend, Menachem, is a very unique individual. He began this farm in 1980 and has literally risked his life many times to keep this farm going. His farm is totally surrounded - on all sides - by Arab villages and these Arabs have tried killing him 10 times. Yes, 10 different times. He told me incredible stories of how his life was saved with open miracles in each of those 10 times. In addition to attacking him physically, the Arabs regularly attack and attempt to destroy his fields.

 Molitav Cocktails thrown by Arabs
They have burned many of his trees and just 2 weeks ago threw several Molotov cocktails (which are gasoline bombs) at his storage and work facility inside the field. This facility has been destroyed - and rebuilt - 3 times in the last 8 months by Menachem and his family. His dedication and self-sacrifice is simply second-to-none and I enjoyed every minute spent in his presence.

Menachem Livni is just one of hundreds of Israeli farmers who do much more than observe Shmittah... these heroes live Shmittah! Just as our entire life is centered around Shabbat, their entire life is centered around Shmittah and talking to these amazing people gives me such energy that I cannot even begin to describe. These simple Jews take the words of the Torah and bring them to life with the sweat of their brow. They work the land, guard it and make it produce delicious fruits that allow us the ability to make brachot and Kiddush Friday night!! May Hashem protect them and bless their holy work.

Rabbi Sorotzkin Teshuva - Tikun of ending the Golus - yearn for recognition of G-d's Kingdom, yearn for Davidic Kingdom and yearn for return of Temple Service. Msg following Har Nof Massacre

bs"d

Rabbi Yitzchok Sorotzkin's Stop the Talking campaign going around, to encourage people to stop talking in shul https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6WgMPCtm1Y&safe=active leads us to a Yalkut Shimoni which describes how Am Yisroel must do Teshuva to dispel the prosecutors up in Heaven.

Rav Sorotzkin ends his talk describing a scene where all the Tzadikim righteous souls are defending Israel saying how much Chesed, kindness the People of Israel do and how many Mitzvoth they do etc. yet it is not enough...

He then brings down a Yalkut Shimoni that there are three things that Israel despised

Maasu B'malchut Shamayim They despised the Kingdom of Heaven
not machshiv Beis Dovid       and the Davidic Kingdom
Ubibinyan Beis Hamikdash    and the building of the Beis Hamikdash.

and until there is a Tikkun on these three things, we won't be zocheh to leave this Galus.

Let us elaborate...

Maasu B'Malchut Shamayim.  Despising the kingdom of heaven...

We remember the Malchut Shamayim on Rosh Hashana in Malchiyut.  We pray that all the Nations of the world will recognize Hashem and His Kingship.  For that we need to be willing to take a leadership position in the world.  Har Habayit is the key for this to happen.  The Nations of the world will stream to Jerusalem and bring gifts to Hashem.

 Isaiah Chapter 2
1. The word that Isaiah, son of Amoz, prophesied concerning Judah and Jerusalem.  א2. And it shall be at the end of the days, that the Mountain of the Lord's House shall be firmly established at the top of the mountains, and it shall be raised above the hills, and all the nations shall stream to it.   ב3. And many peoples shall go, and they shall say, "Come, let us go up to the Lord's mount, to the House of the God of Jacob, and let Him teach us of His ways, and we will go in His paths," for out of Zion shall the Torah come forth, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.   ג4. And he shall judge between the nations and reprove many peoples, and they shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift the sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.   ד5. "O house of Jacob, come and let us go in the light of the Lord."
Isaiah 11:9  "They will neither harm nor destroy on all My holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as water covers the sea"
We need to be Mevakesh these three items as it says in Hoshea 3:5
5. Afterwards shall the children of Israel return, and seek the Lord their God and David their king, and they shall come trembling to the Lord and to His goodness at the end of days.

Achar  Yashvu Bnei Yisroel, if Bnei Yisroel will return once again,
Uvikshu es Hashem Elokeychem.  They will ask for Hashem their G-d.  (This is Malchut Shamayim)
Ves Dovid Malchum  They will ask for the Kingdom of David
Upachado as Tuvam, they will want His goodness, this is the Beis Hamikdash.

Hoshea   tells us the importance of understanding the Chashivos (great importance) of
  • Chashivus Malchus Shamayim
  • Chashivus Malchus Beis Dovid
  • Chashivos Malchus Mikdash

Yerushalyim Ircha BeRachamim Tashuv.

Surely one can not imagine that in Har Nof there was lack of decorum, among those brutally murdered....

Hoshea may be the key to better understand why this tragedy happened.

The key is Unity of Am Yisroel so much noted by the parents of those recently sacrificed namely the parents of the 3 boys and the family members of the Har Nof massacre and the Father of the Sassoon family.

Let me suggest the following:

The Secular yearn for a Malchus Shamayim.  A Jewish Kingdom where Israel is involved in Tikkun Olam and being a light onto the Nations.

The Chareidim yearn be be Holy and separate.

When there is appreciation between the Secular and Chareidi Jews of the value of each others yearning, to be a Kingdom of Priests, a Holy Nation serving the Nations of the World then we will be deserving of dissipating our enemies without war and without human sacrifice.

Let us yearn for the return o the Davidic Kingdom and the return of the Temple and the Holy Sacrifices where Israel will be known far and wide as a Mamlechet Kohanim veGoy Kadosh a Kingdom of Priests and a Holy Nation..

Rectifying the Sin of the Spies before the Shemittah year ends so that The Almighty can erase our Bill of Debt.

bs"d

The Beit Yosef Institute, Beer Sheva, Eretz Yisroel, 5765 writes in their sefer The Mitzvah to Live in Eretz Yisrael  starting bottom page 181-183

"However, my dear brother, you must be aware of what Chazal say in the Midrash: Righteous people rectify their sins in the same manner that they commit them (Tanchuma, BeShalach 24)  Therefore, we must inspire the hearts of Israel and kindle within them the fire of desire for Eretz Israel using the same methods that our ancestors used to undermine Israel's desire for the Land.  The generation of the spies united the entire congregation against Eretz Israel and put a great deal of effort into propaganda.  They established an entire propaganda organization - what we would call today a propaganda department - which organized people to convince others to oppose Eretz Israel. Similarly, we must establish a propaganda apparatus which will permeate every Jewish home and try to convince every Jewish soul to support Eretz Israel.

THE DEBT INCURRED BY ALL OF AM ISRAEL AT THE TIME OF THE SPIES IN THE DESERT
MY BROTHERS, IN ADDITION TO WHAT I HAVE WRITTEN ABOVE..., KNOW THAT WE ARE OBLIGATED TO UNITE ALL OF KLAL ISRAEL BY WAY OF THIS MITZVAH (YISHUV ERETZ YISRAEL) BECAUSE OF AN AGE-OLD DEBT THAT TWAS LOADED UPON US AT THE INCEPTION OF OUR NATION. WE WERE EXILED, WE HAVE SUFFERED HARSH OPPRESSION FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS, AND WE HAVE WEPT PROFUSELY WHILE DWELLING ON FOREIGN SOIL, IN IN ORDER TO PAY OFF THIS DEBT.

the author continues with the Midrash in Yalkut Shimoni 1:743 describing the scene as the Spies returned to the  Israelite camp in the desert  and the Midrash concludes.

"The Holy One Blessed be He said, "You wept in vain; I will establish for you weeping for all generations."  At that moment it was decreed that the Temple would be destroyed and that the Jews would be exiled among the nations of the world.  Thus, it says [They despised the desirable Land...] therefore, He lifted up (Vayisa) His hand against them (Tehilim 106:24-26): a lifting of his hand parallel to a lifting of the voice. (Yalkut Shimoni 1:743)

THUS, THE SPIES, WHO WERE THE LEADERS OF ISRAEL, ABUSED AND BETRAYED THE TRUST THAT KLAL ISRAEL GAVE THEM.  THE ENTIRE NATION TRUSTED THEM AND SENT THEM TO SPY OUT THE LAND, IN ORDER TO DISCOVER THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO ENTER, CONQUER, AND SETTLE THEIR FOREFATHERS' LAND.  THIS EXPLAINS MOSHE'S REPROOF: "AND WHEN THE LORD SENT YOU FROM KADESH-BARNEA, SAYING, "GO UP AND POSSESS THE LAND THAT I HAVE GIVEN YOU" (THAT IS TO SAY, THE WHOLE PURPOSE OF SENDING THE SPIES WAS TO GO UP AND POSSESS THE LAND).  YOU REBELLED AGAINST THE WORD OF THE LORD YOUR G-D (DEVARIM 9:23) NOTICE, MY BROTHERS, THAT THE SPIES USED THE SAME MODERN TECHNIQUE THAT PEOPLE USE TODAY WHEN THEY WANT TO CAPTURE THE HEARTS OF THE MASSES;  IT IS CALLED PROPAGANDA. THE SPIES USED THIS TECHNIQUE SO EXTENSIVELY THAT EACH PRINCE ENTERED HIS HOUSE AND PRETENDED TO FALL...(AS THE MIDRASH RECOUNTS) IS THERE ANY GREATER PROPAGANDA THAN THIS EVEN NOWADAYS YOU WILL HAVE A HARD TIME FINDING ANYTHING LIKE IT.

They achieved their goal because they did not spare the trouble of entering (by way of their messengers) the houses of each of the 600,000 Jews and scaring the family members, until the entire congregation, as one group, broke down and cried bitterly.  Thus, Israel said, Our brethren have melted our hearts (Devarim 1:28), by murmuring in each man's tent. This also explains Moshe's statement "You murmured in your tents" (ibid 1:27). Similarly, David said "They despised the desirable Land...and murmured in their tents"  (Tehillim 106:24-25) (Both verses say) in their tents to teach that they succeeded in making the desirable Land despicable in the eyes of the the entire congregation by murmuring in everyone's tent.

the author writes:

...NOW, BASED ON THE PRECEDING IDEAS, WE CAN UNDERSTAND THIS BETTER. JUST AS DURING THE TIME OF THE SPIES ALL OF ISRAEL UNITED FOR EVIL, TO OPPOSE ERETZ ISRAEL, TODAY AS WELL, WE MUST UNIFY ALL OF ISRAEL FOR GOOD, TO SUPPORT ERETZ ISRAEL.  THIS WAY, WE WILL PAY OFF OUR DEBT, TEAR UP OUR RECORD OF LIABILITY, AND CAUSE THE GLORY OF HASHEM TO SHINE UPON US WITH THE COMPLETE REDEMPTION, SPEEDILY IN OUR DAYS. AMEN
BUT AS LONG AS WE FAIL TO DO THIS, ALL OF OUR COMPLAINTS TO THE HOLY ONE BLESSED BE HE ABOUT THE LENGTHINESS OF OUR EXILE ARE IN VAIN.  IN VAIN WE PRAY IN OUR SYNAGOGUES AND STUDY HALLS.  "OUR FATHER OUR KING, ERASE THROUGH YOUR ABUNDANT MERCY ALL OF OUR BILLS OF DEBT.  "FOR THE DEBT THAT WE INCURRED BY DESPISING THE DESIRABLE LAND STILL HOVERS OVER US .  HOW CAN WE PRAy THAT G-D SHOULD ERASE THIS BILL OF DEBT WHEN IT IS UP TO US TO PAY IT OFF AND RECTIFY IT? THIS IS LIKE A DEBTOR WHO ASKS HIS CREDITOR TO RIP UP THE BILL OF DEBT BEFORE HE HAS PAID. THE CREDITOR WILL CERTAINLY DO NO SUCH THING! THE SAME IS TRUE OF US.

My comments:

Perhaps, only in the end of the Shemittah year can we have the Chutzpah to ask of our creditor, G-d the Almighty, to rip up the bill of debt.  However, we in turn must do the same and not be so  concerned about our bills and our sources of income drying up.  Let us remember that it is G-d who provides.  Let us remember that and we won't worry so much about losing our funding.   It is this monetary concern that is preventing ZOA from speaking truth against the 2 State Solution as long as the PA are as  democratic as Canada. Zoa is  afraid of losing their funding from their philanthropists .  It is monetary concerns that prevented JCRC from disallowing BDS marchers because they are afraid of losing their funding from UJA.. etc....What if not money that is preventing MGH, Agudath Israel of America, Young Israel, OU, Chabad International etc from speaking out for truth against a Palestinian State?

Let us trust in the Almighty!  We will not starve if we speak truth!   LET US UNITE!  Let us share our resources!  Let us make Kiddushes and enjoy the spirit of Shabbat Haaretz!!!! Worried about losing medical benefits.  Let us put more Kavana, more thought into saying Asher Yatzar the prayer for health that reminds us that G-d is the Miraculous Healer of all human flesh! We all know that at times a cure can be much worse than the disease. Often resistant bacteria is picked up in the hospital.  Surely if G-d can provide sustenance for all his creatures he can provide good health as well when necessary and hopefully the funding will come through so we don't even lose our medical benefits!

One can not deny that as a people we have yet to actualize on our prayers to return to Zion en masse via a calling of our Rabbis. .

It is simple to return to Zion.  just buy a plane ticket.  The window of opportunity is here.  Let us not allow it sour before the gates are closed....

Let us yearn for Zion. The truth of Zion is Jerusalem, the return of Our Holy Temple and the sacrifices that atoned for Israel's sins, the Priestly Service, the Levite Service and the Israelites Service...  The streaming of Nations to Jerusalem to the Mountain of G-d with gifts. The universal recognition of G-d ruling the earth with Truth and Justice and Righteousness.

Let us yearn for the return of the Davidic Kingdom where the King was obligated to write 2 Torah Scrolls, one to wear on his chest to remind him that although he is a King of Israel he is subservient to G-d the Almighty King.  What a beautiful religion. How beautiful and wise are its laws and statutes.  We dream of the prophesies of the sword being turned into a plowshare... of the wolf and lamb grazing side by side peacefully with a young lad leading them.

Yet for this to happen we must fight the falsehoods and lies facing us!  Each man women and child is a soldier in G-d's holy camp.

Not only do I call upon all the Rabbis to proudly proclaim the truth of Torah I also ask our strongest Israel Advocates to  preface their arguments with Torah, because Torah is the source of Truth.  Caroline Glick, Arlene Kushner, David Bedein, Mark Langfan, Truth Provider, Isi Liebler etc.  You are truly amazing and may G-d Bless you...Please before advocating for Israel using security arguments, or  legal arguments based on International Law or based on Palestinian non compliance,  or even common sense like why is the UN picking on Israel for building extra rooms in Judea and Samaria and don't address genocide in Arab countries..please, I beg you, bring Torah and G-d into the picture and preface your remarks as did Mike Huckabee "The boundaries of Israel are not given by the United Nations but by Almighty G-d.  And those boundaries can be affirmed by man but not reshaped by man. "

All your arguments that follow will be that much more potent!

Obama and the Arab world rightfully recognize that this War between Israel and Palestine is a theological based War.  Only theological weapons will work decisively.  Our strongest weapons are Words of Truth that are based on Torah! As it says "Elah BaRechev VeElah BaSusim, Vaanachnu Beshem Hashem Elokeinu Nazkir"..They come with horses and Chariots and we come with G-d's Word.

Israel and Torah will anoint G-d as King of the Universe. A King by definition is not a despot.  His Laws are True and Just and will bring Peace and Prosperity to mankind

Rabbi Sorotzkin Teshuva - Tikun of ending the Golus - yearn for recognition of G-d's Kingdom, yearn for Davidic Kingdom and yearn for return of Temple Service. Msg following Har Nof Massacre

Fwd: AMERICAN JEWISH LEADERS MUST STAND UP AND BE COUNTED. Allow me to add... Please do so with the Truth of Torah. Tikkun Chait Miraglim, Correcting the Sin of the Spies.

bs"d

Thank you Truth Provider and Isi Liebler for your interesting points.  Allow me to strengthen certain points you make yet differ with you on others.

Netanyahu's position regarding a Palestinian State is very wobbly and here President Obama makes a legitimate point.

Our position must be consistent with Torah. As it says Lesheker ain bo raglayim.  Falsehood has no legs.  Only truth will stand on its own 2 feet!

The Truth is that the Land of Israel is the Biblical Homeland of the Jewish People. As the former Governor of Arkasas Mike Huckabee stated The boundaries of Israel are not given by the United Nations but by Almighty G-d.  And those boundaries can be affirmed by man but not reshaped by man.

This affirmation of a Biblical Truth will dispute President Obama's claim that Israel is merely acting upon fear of an existential threat and that the Palestinians have a legitimate claim.
For those of you who did not watch the Dayan-Obama interview, mentioned in the article, here it is:
Obama argues that if somehow Israel's security concern was addressed and eliminated, Israel and the people of Israel, would be convinced to try giving the 2 State Solution a chance to hopefully bring "true" peace as per President Obama's expectations.

We can argue from today till tomorrow that such a solution is unrealistic. However,  we can stop the argument cold in it's tracks with a disclaimer that there is no confusion regarding the Status of the Land of Israel.

Let us talk with clarity! The Land of Israel is our Jewish Heritage and birthright and should be settled exclusively by Bnei Yisroel, the descendants of Israel and those who qualify as Ger Toshav. We are referring to those who are descended from the twelve Tribes of Israel and to non Jewish residents who abide by the 7 Noahide laws, accept G-d's Sovereignty and Israel's Sovereignty over the Land of Israel.  Israel has obligations to protect and provide for all it's residents whether they are Israelite or Ger Toshav.

By the way, according to Torah, peace in the Land  of Israel can only come about by keeping the Commandments in the Land.  If we give Judea and Samaria to peaceful Palestinians, will they keep the Commandments of Shemittah not to mention all the Mitzvoth pertaining to the Land such as Teruma,( gifts to the priests) Maaser (tithes to the Levites and the poor etc.), Leket, Shikcha Peah (produce in the field to be left to the poor)  in a non Shemittah year? According to Torah, Jews will be driven out of the Land for not keeping Shemittah and commandments pertaining to the Land and the curses will fall upon Israel and by extension to the rest of the world, for Israel not keeping the commandments.

President Obama saw through Netanyahu's political flip flop regarding Israel's recognition of a Palestinian State.  Before the elections, Netanyahu was adamant that there will never be a Palestinian State under his watch.  After the Elections Netanyahu changed his tune.

What is the true position of Israel regardless of what the Prime Minister says?

According to Torah the true position is that Israel is the Promised Land exclusively to the Nation of Israel as per the Covenant, G-d made with our forefathers Abraham Isaac and Jacob as clearly spelled  and delineated in the Torah!

Now I ask...Where are the American Orthodox, Chareidi, Dati Leumi, Chabad, YI, OU, RCA Rabbanim??????WHY AREN'T THEY STANDING UP TO BE COUNTED?????

Aren't they required by Halacha to testify publicly before the Nations of the World as per the first Rashi of Breishis?

Isn't now an auspicious time to stand up strong  behind Tzippy Hotoveli, deputy Foreign Minister of Israel, or alternatively will we be passive and allow a void created by our Silence to be filled in by Israel's enemies, the State Department, the Vatican, the EU, the UN, the American Supreme Court,  with legitimization and support of a false Palestinian Narrative?

What will our Jewish  Leaders say when after 120 years they will be facing the heavenly court who will shine the light of truth to all the souls attending.  How deep will be our shame and regret for not having stood up for G-d's Covenant and instead feared for our jobs and/or our positions of leadership and/or feared the wrath of the Nations of the world who lash out in a non trivial manner to those who speak the truth! Will we see the devastation of a nuclear War and the barbarity of Isis as the consequences of Israel's Silence to International condemnation of Israel's alleged war crimes and alleged illegal Occupation?

  • Will we be held accountable for our Silence when Jerusalem was not recognized as the official Capitol of Israel according to the American Supreme Court.
  • Will we be held accountable for our silence when Jews are refused permission to pray on Har Habayit yet soccer games are allowed and other sometimes false religions are allowed to pray with no interference.
  • Will we be held accountable for our silence in the face of International condemnation and our failure to proclaim that Judea and Samaria are the true birthright and inheritance of the Tribes of Judah and Benjamin and Ephraim and Menasheh and Levites rather than Palestinians who are a trumped up people created only in response to Israel's return to Our Land.

What was the end of the Miraglim in the Desert who discouraged the people from entering and conquering the Land of Israel? G-d forbid that any of us end up like them!!!!

Tzipi Hotovely Quotes Rashi In Telling Diplomats That All Of Israel's Land Belongs To Jews May 26, 2015

Hotovely, who is the highest-ranking official at the Israeli Foreign Ministry due to the fact that Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu did not appoint a foreign minister, spoke of the need to return to the "basic truth" about who controls the land.
"The international community deals with considerations of justice and morality," she said. "We need to return to the basic truth of our right to this land."
Hotovely ended her address by quoting Rashi, who described how Hashem gave the land of Israel to the Jewish people.
There is finally a government that speaks words of Torah!  Isnt this what we have been praying for???
"Rashi says the Torah opens with the story of the creation of the world so that if the nations of the world come and tell you that you are occupiers, you must respond that all of the land belonged to the creator of world and when he wanted to, he took from them and gave to us," she said.
It is not too late!
As the Torah clearly states that if we go with G-d with Kerry (Happenstance), G-d in turn will treat us with Kerry (happenstance)

"If you behave casually (Kerry) with Me " Going Happenstance with Hashem brings curses. (PARSHAT BECHUKOSAI) Ein Od Milvado
http://shemittahrediscovered.blogspot.com/2013/11/if-you-behave-casually-kerry-with-me.html

Years ago I attended a collegiate gathering one Friday night in the home of Rabbi Yosef Grunblatt z"l, the Rav of the Queens Jewish Center in Forest Hills. Besides being a Rabbi,  Rabbi Grunblatt held a PHD in philosophy.

At this gathering, I recall him saying that it was too early to comprehend the enormity of what happened in the Holocaust and to question G-d's ways.  Time he said will hopefully give us a better perspective.

Now it is over 30 years later and we are on the cusp of another Holocaust Chas Veshalom G-d forbid.  Israel is surrounded by brutal barbarians, Isis and Iran or their proxies, rampant BDS and global antisemitism and condemnation worldwide. Surely, we must find some answers now before it is too late....

Surely Hashem does not want to bring upon us another Holocaust. Therefore we must conclude that it can be prevented.

Dear friends,
The latest article by Isi Leibler contains a chronology of all the latest Obama deceitful manipulations and omissions.
Isi Leibler is far from being "right" wing zealot. He is a centrist who conveys the truth. In this case, the very unfortunate truth.
For those of you who did not watch the Dayan-Obama interview, mentioned in the article, here it is:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TA-1Nl-5PX0
And here are a few points about the interview:
1) On several occasions Dayan provides Obama with an anti-Israeli or anti-Netanyahu opener, such as the "segregation" of "Palestinians" on busses which never got off the ground and had to do only with security issues not racial.
2) Obama mentions many pre-conditions demanded by Netanyahu for renewing the peace process. In truth, Netanyahu speaks only about two: The "Palestinians" must recognize Israel as the Jewish homeland (dah), and the "Palestinian" state must remain demilitarized (another dah).
3) Obama demands settlements freeze, but has not one single demand from the "Palestinians."
4) Obama says "I never suggested that Israel should compromise her security." Of course he "forgets" his demand that Israel should return to the indefensible 1949 Armistice lines, which Abba Eban named the "Auschwitz Lines."
Like Ilana Dayan, the American Jewish "leaders" that recently met with Obama were afraid to confront, challenge and stand up to him.
Now please read Isi Leibler article.
Your Truth Provider,
Yuval.
AMERICAN JEWISH LEADERS FAIL TO RESPOND TO OBAMA'S THREATS
Isi Leibler
It is time to stop making excuses for American Jewish leaders and their failure to respond to US President Barack Obama's latest charm offensive, expressing "admiration" for Jews and "love" of Israel as a mantle to cast moral aspersions against the democratically elected government of Israel.

Obama is clearly determined to undermine the standing of the newly elected Israeli government by embarking on a campaign to promote an utterly fictional narrative of the Arab-Israeli conflict, even in advance of the June 30 deadline of the "negotiations" with Iran.
He orchestrated interviews with journalists Jeffrey Goldberg and Tom Friedman, whom he uses regularly to convey his distaste for Israeli policies - and Ilana Dayan of Israel's Channel 2 TV. Considered a tough investigative journalist, Dayan on this occasion acted as though she were launching an Obama fan club.
She failed to pose any challenging questions and instead provided openings for him to benevolently display his loathing for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Obama also gave a major address to a Jewish audience at Washington's Conservative Adas Israel congregation
One of his acolytes, David Axelrod, recalls Obama - who for many years belonged to a church with an anti-Semitic pastor - describing himself as "the closest thing to a Jew" who has ever served as an American president. At Adas Israel, Obama even described himself as "an honorary member of the tribe" and called on Israelis and Jews to concentrate on "tikkun olam - repairing the world," implying that universal humanistic values are more in keeping with Judaism than nationalism.

He repeatedly stressed the linkage between African- Americans and Jewish Americans and the struggle for civil rights and equality - deviously contrasting this with the manner in which Israelis supposedly treat Palestinians.

Stressing that he considers Israel's security paramount and that he "understands Israeli concerns and fears," he insisted that the Jewish state needed tough love from its friends, assuring his audience that he felt he had a better understanding of Israel's needs than Israelis themselves. He effectively called on American Jews to choose between his flawed evaluation of the Arab-Israeli conflict and the concerns about security and survival shared by the majority of Israelis.
Obama had the chutzpah to warn that the current Israeli government would alienate the people of America and the global community because it was diverging from the noble sentiments expressed in Israel's Declaration of Independence.

Intensifying his vendetta against Netanyahu, he effectively described him as a deceitful liar who could not be trusted. He constantly harped on two statements that Netanyahu had uttered in the heat of the election and had subsequently repeatedly repudiated. However, not even once did he condemn the Palestinian Authority for its daily incitement of hatred, sanctification of mass murderers, or criminalization of Israel at the UN.
He warned that Israel has become obsessed with fear, claiming ludicrously that the US had proposed solutions by which, given goodwill, Israel's security concerns could have been overcome. He urged Israelis to adopt "the politics of hope."
He chided Israel for being obstinate and inflexible, thus preventing the peace process from moving forward, and clearly held Israel responsible for the breakdown of negotiations - conveniently ignoring the fact that it was PA President Mahmoud Abbas who terminated the talks and breached the Oslo Accords by unilaterally seeking recognition at the United Nations and uniting with Hamas. He failed to make mention of Israel's major concessions, including a 10-month settlement freeze to pave the way for negotiations - to which Abbas only responded in the 10th month - and the wretched release of mass murderers who were subsequently feted as heroes and many of whom renewed their terrorist activities.
And to top it off, Obama even made the outrageous observation that Netanyahu "had so many caveats, so many conditions" that the Palestinian officials and others might not see Netanyahu as a reliable negotiating partner.

MELODRAMATICALLY, HE added that the "rights of the Jewish people compel me to think about the rights of a Palestinian child in Ramallah who feels trapped without opportunity," yet omitted any mention of Israel's withdrawal from all of Gaza or the fact that in the main cities of Judea and Samaria, beyond issues directly related to security, Arabs have complete autonomy.
Obama postulates that Israel must be more flexible in order to convince the world that it genuinely favors a Palestinian state. In fact, the vast majority of Israelis would be overjoyed if they could separate themselves from the Palestinians but realize that to do so now could result in self-destruction. For Obama to make such a call under the current circumstances is not merely disingenuous, it is effectively a clear message to the Arabs to intensify their demands and continue their policy of "we take, you give."

The US president is well aware of the mayhem and barbarism that prevails in the region. He knows that were Israel to cede additional territories, they would almost certainly be taken over by Hamas or even the more radical Islamic State group, leading to a breakdown of security and challenging the very existence of the Jewish state. No Israeli government would compromise the country's security in this manner.

But the truly chilling aspect of Obama's interviews was his undisguised threat that, unless Israel accepted his dictates, the US would cease employing its veto at the United Nations Security Council. In other words, a total diplomatic abandonment of Israel. In stating this, he is also openly encouraging the Europeans to intensify their campaigns to pressure and extend sanctions against Israel.

The most disconcerting aspect of these developments is that, aside from the Zionist Organization of America, there has been a total lack of response from the American Jewish leadership. Obama has floated trial balloons to test the American Jewish community's reaction to extending his confrontation with Israel. He clearly anticipates their support and recognition that he knows better than Israelis what is good for them.
Public opinion in the United States and the Republican- dominated Congress is highly favorable and strongly supportive of Israel. However, if Jewish communal leaders remain silent in response to such a biased frontal attack against Israeli policies, based on false premises, they are giving Obama the green light.

The role of a Jewish leadership is to lead and represent the Jewish community, which is committed to the survival and security of the State of Israel. Unfortunately, however, many American Jews have become so acculturated that they have no understanding of Judaism or the crucial relevance of Israel to their Jewish identity.
Moreover, it is unreasonable to expect Congress and friends of Israel to be more supportive of the Jewish state than the Jewish leadership. The silence of Jewish community leaders will also send a message to future presidential candidates that they will not be penalized by the Jewish community if they continue treating Israel in a similarly contemptuous manner.
The Jewish leaders' defense is that public criticism of the president would jeopardize the bipartisan approach of Congress toward Israel. However, if bipartisanship becomes an end in itself, the Jewish community will become paralyzed, lose its political influence and be considered politically impotent.

To maintain a modicum of self-respect and dignity, Jewish leaders must respectfully but forcefully condemn and criticize the propagation of factual errors, bias and threats conveyed by their president. If they fail to act, history will judge them harshly. When in 1944, in one of the most shameful chapters in American Jewish life, Rabbi Stephen Wise failed to confront President Franklin Roosevelt's refusal to come to the aid of European Jews, the Jewish community was weak and faced enormous anti-Semitism. The situation is very different today and there are no grounds for the Jewish community to be less outspoken than other Americans in criticizing their president when they consider he is acting against the best interest of the nation.
A failure by the American Jewish leadership to vigorously speak out against their president after he has effectively undermined and distorted Israel's role could have untold negative consequences, not only for Israel but for American Jewry itself. The time has now come for Jewish leaders to stand up and be counted.

Re: The Christianization of Zionism

The Christianization of Zionism

In Theodor Herzl's path-setting Zionist book The Jewish State, the Torah is reduced to a "religion," relegated to the home and the synagogue. Severed from Public Law, Zionism was rendered comparable to antinomian Christianity: "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's."

This dualism is foreign to the Torah. It splits the mind, placing secular values, such as security, on the level of the spiritual values, such as morality. PM Benjamin Netanyahu recently said he wants to be remembered as having brought security to Israel.  That very much sums up the modus operandi of secular Zionism.

Therefore, it needs to be stressed that Zionism can't be secular without violating the original meaning of the term "Zion," which involves three interrelated ideas:  (1) the People of Israel, (2) the Land of Israel, and, above all (3) the Torah.

Hence, we should admit that if Jews, 2,000 years ago had "Zionist" leaders like Binyamin Netanyahu, the Jewish people would have become as extinct as the Phoenicians.  No serious person will dispute the fact that it was only the Torah that preserved the Jewish people during these past two millennia.

Zionism suffered a crippling stroke when the Yitzhak Rabin signed the Israel-PLO Agreement of 1993. The coup de grace came when Netanyahu, on June 1, 2009, endorsed the creation of a Palestinian state in Judea and Samaria. That marked the official death of Zionism.

The death of Zionism means that politics in Israel has no distinctively Jewish national goal. The "politics of peace" embraced by Israeli prime ministers has not only disemboweled the Jewish state. Notice that Netanyahu's insistence that the Palestinian Authority recognize Israel as the state of the Jewish people has been met with contempt. It's as if the PA, the leaders of an "invented people," discerned that Netanyahu without the Torah lacked authenticity!

Nevertheless, the Jewish people should not be disheartened by Israel's political decay. Never have so many Jews returned to the Torah. A veritable renascence is taking place in the study of Jewish law, the Halakha, revealing its great rationality and relevance. Moreover, scientists and mathematicians are engaged in fundamental Torah research, showing that the Torah is not only the paradigm of how man should live, but the paradigm of knowledge. The convergence of Torah and science is enfolding at a quickening pace, as is documented in my latest book Rescuing America from Nihilism: A Judeo-Scientific Approach.

Meanwhile, more and more people in Israel realize that politics is incapable of solving any of the nation's basic problems. They are becoming increasingly aware of Israel's dysfunctional government, whose average tenure is only two years, a government, moreover, whose cabinet consists of 5 or 6 rival parties competing for a larger slice of the public treasury. Who does not see the absurdity of a political system where 30 and more parties vie for seats in the menagerie called Israel's "Knesset?

It should also be noted that more and more people are fed up with the aggrandizement of Israel's Supreme Court, which often trashes the abiding beliefs of the Jewish people. This "courtocracy" has made a mockery not only of democracy, but also of the rule of law, given its imperialistic and despotic dictum "everything is justiciable"! And this is not all.

Who does not know that the Oslovian peace process is a fraud, a deadly fraud, for which no Israeli Government has been held accountable?

It matters not who is Israel's prime minister, whether he's a sharp-witted secularist like Binyamin Netanyahu, or a dull-witted secularist like Ehud Barak. Both have ignored the Torah's vital imperative, "Justicejustice shall you pursueso that you will live and possess the Land that Hashem your God gives you (Deuteronomy 16:20)

Absent the Torah, absent Jewish national identity and purpose, Israeli Prime Ministers will stagger like drunkards. The Government will genuflect to "the nations."  Jews will be despised, and the Jewish state will be deemed a pariah.

We may therefore conclude that Israel's salvation requires a Torah-oriented statesman on the one hand, and a Judaic form of democracy on the other. Only when the two are conjoined will Israel transcend the Christianization of Zionism.☼
