The full words of the widow, Esther Melat:

"I am here, right here he fell, murdered, for the sake of God, here behind the village of Tel, which was supposed to be leveled. The law of the village of Tel is the same as the law of Rafah, - the enemy is the same enemy.

*It cannot be that we have reached this situation where we hesitate to open fire on terrorists*. It cannot be that we have gone back almost three years in the midst of this war. It is simply impossible that the open-fire orders will remain the same as on October 6th. It is simply delusional. This death was not supposed to happen, this entire event was not supposed to happen. Jews should not be afraid to travel in the Land of Israel, they should not attack tourists, no one should attack people who are traveling.

There was a planned ambush here, they were waiting here with rocks and clubs, 150 terrorists from this murderous village, whose houses, I don't know how they are still up here, I don't know how they are still standing, how in Gaza they are razing village after village, and nothing is happening here?!

We are four days after this murder, nothing is happening here. I am appealing here to everyone who has authority, the Israeli government, the Minister of Defense, the Commander-in-Chief, it doesn't make sense what is happening here. Benyahu jumped bravely.  As a soldier in the emergency squad, Dvir, our dear rabbi, who is in a miracle, I don't know how he even lives.

It simply doesn't make sense. From firsthand accounts. People whose hearts were bleeding, were here with weapons, dear soldiers, who hesitated to open fire here. Because of delusional orders to open fire. It simply doesn't make sense.

*Citizens of Israel, dear warriors. It's better a thousand times that you be in prison, alive, than in the grave*. Benayahu will not return. Don't hesitate. One second of hesitation can make the difference between life and death.

Take out your weapons, and use them when necessary. That's what they were meant for. Benayahu was a warrior and a dreamer. He knew every inch of land here, in the mountains of Samaria. Judea and Samaria in general, but Samaria in particular.

*We will continue to travel*.
They have already set up a point here at the murder site, and many more points that I have heard about. That will not stop his spirit. His spirit will continue. He acted without  Pause. Up here we have the house of a Palestinian policeman who is part of the story here. You have to know, they are the same enemy. There is no difference, no difference between the Palestinian Authority and the Arabs in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and Iran. The enemy is the same enemy, and they should receive the same treatment. My daughters are orphans, from an amazing father. Who was a very significant part of their lives. They will not forget him, but he will no longer be physically present. This is the continuation of their upbringing, unfortunately. The spirit will continue, his spirit will continue with them.

I really hope this is the last victim of delusional open fire orders, really. Dear people, armed, fighters and civilians, do not hesitate. Do not hesitate. Shoot without hesitation, without thinking twice where necessary. The enemy is the enemy. The intention is the same intention, the desire to kill is the same desire to kill. Remember, it is better to stay alive in prison than in the grave," the widow said at the scene of the murder.

*Benyahu*. Only now do I find time to write about you. In the midst of busy days of trying to fulfill your will in a space where there was no one who cared as much as you.

It has been 16 years since we were together in the hills, first in the return of my people, and then we moved together to Ramat Migron. Almost a year and a half, we went through so many things together. But despite the years that have passed, it is impossible to forget such formative years.

Those were different days. Days when every step involved banging your head against the wall again and again, and the whole island was in turmoil and maybe we would succeed. We built and destroyed, and built again and destroyed. We fled, hid, were arrested again and again, and returned to the hill again because it is impossible to abandon. And in the midst of all the evacuations, arrests and marches, you taught everyone to seek to do everything seriously. This is what I remember from you most of all: how everything was done *with the greatest seriousness, and always with a willingness to change.* In the midst of endless discussions, between action and changing public opinion, between achievements on the ground and public perception. And above all, there was an unparalleled love of the country, and prolonged self-work. You were one of the youngest in the group, and yet one of the most serious. I can imagine the situations that arise, insisting on building immediately after every evacuation, marches to Nablus and Jericho, demonstrations, and standing alone in front of dozens of Arabs to protect the houses on the hill and not retreating at any cost.

When you went up to the Redeemer of Zion, I was in exile, and you decided that you had to go back in order to succeed, a decision that was not natural, but you always knew how to constantly recalculate your course when you were aiming for the same goal. At a time when it seemed there was no chance of breaking through the boundaries of the White Paper, you built a beautiful stone house with tremendous effort. And even when it was destroyed - not in vain, my brother, you were sick, because *some seeds for great revolutions grew in that place and at that time*.

When you decided to enlist in spite of everything – despite the arrests, despite the beatings, you kept talking about the fact that you had to know how to fight, and you devoted your entire arduous journey to it, because *there was no one else like you who believed in the threat and believed in the enemy.* Even when it seemed exaggerated, and who even talked about frontal war back then, it was always one of the things that characterized you: you believed in the enemy, you believed in what he said, *and you never stopped preparing for war and studying him.*

At your funeral, Shlomo, your brother, played the song "Unknown Soldiers" by Yair Stern, which you loved so much, and it couldn't have been more appropriate. And to an observer from the sidelines, it might seem strange: *an official military funeral, soldiers in uniform carry the coffin, a military rabbi leads the ceremony, and the crowd sings: "Unknown soldiers are here without uniforms."*

But the truth is that there is nothing more real than that. Because there is an entire generation here who lives a double life - not in the sense of hypocrisy, on the contrary. He lives with *double duty.* Even when he is a soldier in uniform, he is also a soldier without uniform, with the understanding that the mission is greater. And alongside his part in the Defense Army, he also volunteers with his banner of defense and occupation, just as it was written in your profile picture: "A land not accepted – a land of conquerors."
And Benyahu, you symbolized this so much. Even when you enlisted to know how to fight, because you did everything with the utmost seriousness and believed in the threat with complete faith, *you continued to fight as a civilian, even without uniform, even when no one knows, and where there are no decorations and no ceremonies*.

And that is also what you did when we returned to work together in civil intelligence. The OSINT enterprise that you established became a powerhouse, when in practice you taught so many people how to listen to the enemy. And from this grew the "Fight for Every Dunam" forum. As always, you operated behind the scenes, even though it had a huge impact on changing public opinion and understanding the urgency of the struggle for every dunam, literally. *And you were always careful not to differentiate between Area C and the regions of the Land of Israel that were handed over in Oslo and called A and B.*

Tel Aroma, Sela Ridge and Mount Ebal – precisely in places where the establishment elements gave up, because there was nothing to be done with the tools they knew, you always believed that consciousness creates tools and not the other way around, and that one needs to expose, speak out and publish. And you were right, of course. What a significant part you played in the research on the Palestinian Authority's Committee Against Fences, *research that led to action and a change in perception at all levels*.

Then, after years in which you led civil intelligence and initiated the civil OSINT, here too one day you said: "That's it, it has exhausted itself. We are not dealing with space enough." When you felt that it was no longer motivating, refreshing and challenging enough, you moved on to the next destination. And all the persuasions didn't help. You constantly demanded full seriousness, and if you felt that people saw it as a kind of hobby, you sought to create a new framework that would allow you to engage in it seriously.

And besides the unparalleled familiarity with the space – wherever you were. Whether it was in northern Samaria, or later in our entire space between Yitzhar and Havat Gilad, the place where you fell. A space that illustrates the folly of Oslo more than anything else. Khirbet Kafror, Khirbet Tapsa, Khirbet Apex and the Sela ridge – there we went together to take pictures, to try to wake up the residents of the mountainside about the impending threat. *You never stopped trying to create connections for joint work*. Another WhatsApp group that connects one factor with another, local intelligence groups, joint tours, meetings – and all from a spatial perspective. *Some people see dots, but you always sought space, and believed that to occupy space you need connections.*

And when changes began in government policy, and more farms and more hills began to be built, and the Fayyad plan began to lose ground, you found a niche to define yourself in – Mount Ebal. You recognized the Palestinian Authority’s efforts there as part of its ridge plan, and you studied every plan they had in place. From this grew an entire booklet that saw the Joshua Altar not just as a tourist site, but as an expression of responsibility for the entire ridge. Because that’s how you were, you always knew *to identify where the enemy was investing its efforts*.

When you exposed the Palestinian Authority’s plan to build a neighborhood on the altar on Mount Ebal, you worked hard to compare the plans you located with the maps, until you managed to prove things with wonderful investment and wisdom. But then there were various elements in the councils who stole the credit. And that hurt you. Not because of the credit – it never interested you – but because you were afraid that the message would not lead to settlement and a permanent presence, but to solutions that the systemic elements perceived as more realistic. And when you saw talk of illusory solutions like installing cameras and the like, you went to speak in the Knesset, even though it was clearly not natural for you, because you saw that there was no one else to convey the message.

Letter to President Trump: Deep State CIS "Commanders for Israel's Security" undermining Israel's Security by Pushing a "Democratic" Agenda that Endangers Settlers in Judea and Samaria😒

Red Alert: Escalating West Bank violence endangers Israeli security, U.S. interests, and regional stability
July 27, 2026by CIS

The PDF of the Actual Letter sent to President Trump

 About CIS:  Source Grok

Around 600 current and former senior Israeli security and foreign policy figures—primarily members of the group Commanders for Israel’s Security (CIS; Hebrew: מפקדים למען ביטחון ישראל)—sent a letter to U.S. President Donald Trump (and figures close to him such as Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff) urging him to press Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hard on the situation in the West Bank (referred to by the group and many Israelis as Judea and Samaria)

Ynetnews
This occurred ahead of Netanyahu’s meeting with Trump (reports place the letter as sent around Sunday, July 26, 2026, with the meeting expected shortly after). The user’s headline frames the appeal as directed at Netanyahu to raise the issue with Trump; primary reporting indicates the letter was addressed mainly to Trump, calling on him to deliver a “firm and unequivocal message”

Ynetnews
Who the ~600 people are
They are overwhelmingly
- retired high-ranking officials from Israel’s security establishment and foreign service,
- not active-duty personnel.

CIS describes itself as a movement of over 550 (sometimes cited near 600)
- Retired IDF Colonels and Generals,
- Senior equivalents from the Mossad,
- Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency),
- Israel Police,
- National Security Council, and
- Diplomatic Corps.

Membership is limited to the top ranks because those roles provide exposure to strategic national-security issues.

CIS
Founded: 2014 as a non-partisan (though politically oriented) civil-society group.
Core stance: Securing Israel as a strong Democratic Jewish state.

CIS views separation from the Palestinians (leading toward a two-state solution in a regional framework) as essential for long-term security and warns against sliding into a one-state reality.

Members are volunteers who emphasize professional/strategic analysis over partisan politics.

Leadership:
Chaired by
- Maj. Gen. (ret.) Matan Vilnai (former IDF Deputy Chief of Staff, Deputy Defense Minister, Home Front Defense Minister, and ambassador to China).

Other executive figures have included
- Col. (ret.) Itamar Yaar and various former senior officers and diplomats.

CIS

Notable individuals associated with the group or mentioned in connection with this letter include former
- Mossad director Danny Yatom
- Former Shin Bet director Ami Ayalon.

The group’s membership has historically included other prominent names such as
- former Mossad directors,
- Shin Bet heads,
- IDF chiefs or
- senior commanders, and
- police commissioners (exact current signatories of this specific letter are not fully publicly listed in the reporting).

Ynetnews
CIS has previously issued letters and analyses on issues including
- Gaza policy,
- West Bank annexation steps, and
- regional diplomacy,

often criticizing government policies it views as harmful to Israel’s long-term security or relations with the U.S. and regional partners.

Context of the letter

The letter describes rising settler violence against Palestinians and their property as “terrorism” (“Terror is terror is terror”) and warns that unchecked escalation—combined with policies seen as weakening the Palestinian Authority economically and otherwise—could produce consequences “even more catastrophic than the Hamas atrocities of October 7 and their multifront aftermath.”

It argues this trajectory endangers Israeli security, U.S. regional interests, and stability; could
- Derail Trump’s 20-point Gaza plan; and
- Risks damaging or reversing gains from the Abraham Accords.

Ynetnews

Signatories claim Israel’s security agencies are effective against Palestinian terrorist groups but “severely constrained” against Jewish perpetrators, and they accuse certain members of the current government of orchestrating or enabling chaos by shielding armed, ideologically driven supporters. The appeal emphasizes that only Trump can force decisive action.

This fits a broader pattern of CIS advocacy and comes amid reported surges in West Bank violence (including arson, property attacks, and deadly clashes), Israeli government steps related to settlements/outposts and Palestinian Authority authority, and Netanyahu’s Washington visit.

Reporting notes ongoing friction, IDF deployments, and differing assessments of the scale and drivers of the violence.

Timesofisrael
Sources for the details above include contemporary reporting from Ynetnews, The Times of Israel, and related outlets, along with CIS’s own descriptions of its membership and mission. The group’s website and prior public letters provide additional background on its composition and positions.

Benyahu Malat's widow: "Victim of Delusional Open-Fire Orders

Bsd

*"ABSURDITY OF PURITY OF ARMS"*

*Does this outdated Doctrine make Israel the 'most moral army in the world' or the most dead soldiers?*

*Widow of Benyahu Malt: “A victim of absurd open-fire regulations”*

Esther Malat, widow of Benyahu (hy”d), who was murdered in the severe attack in Samaria, arrived together with his brother at the site of the murder and called on fighters not to hesitate to use their weapons.

The widow and brother of Benyahu Malat (hy”d) arrived this morning (Monday) at the site of the murder near the village of Tel in Samaria.
*The widow said there: “The village of Tel should be treated like Rafah — the enemy is the same enemy.”*

*“It cannot be that we have reached a situation where people hesitate to open fire on terrorists,” said the widow Esther.*
*“It cannot be that we have gone almost three years backward in the middle of this war.*
*It is simply impossible that the open-fire regulations remain the same as they were on Friday, October 6.*
*This is simply insane. This death was not supposed to happen. This entire incident was not supposed to happen.*
*Jews should not have to be afraid to hike in the Land of Israel. No one should attack hikers.”*

According to her: *“This was a planned ambush. They were waiting here with rocks and clubs — 150 terrorists from this murderous village, whose houses, I don’t know how, are still standing up here.*
*"I don’t know how they are still standing. In Gaza they flatten village after village, and here nothing happens.*
*"I am appealing here to everyone who has authority — the government of Israel, the Defense Minister, the GOC Central Command — what is happening here is not reasonable."*
*"Benyahu jumped with courage. As a readiness-squad fighter, Dvir, our dear security coordinator, who by a miracle — I don’t know how he is even alive.*
*"This is simply not reasonable. From first-hand testimonies. People whose hearts are bleeding were here with weapons — dear soldiers who hesitated here to open fire.*
*Because of absurd open-fire regulations. This is simply not reasonable.”*

She called on IDF fighters not to hesitate to shoot at terrorists: *“Citizens of Israel, dear fighters. It is a thousand times better for you to be in prison, alive, than in a grave. Benyahu will not come back. Do not hesitate. One second of hesitation can be the difference between life and death. Take out your weapons and use them when necessary. That is what they are for.”*

Esther spoke with pain about her personal loss: *“Benyahu was a fighter and a dreamer. He knew every clod of earth here in the hills of Samaria. Judea and Samaria in general, but Samaria in particular. We will continue to hike. They have already established a point here at the site of the murder, and many more points that I have heard about. This will not stop his spirit. His spirit will continue. He acted without stopping. Up here we have the house of a Palestinian policeman who are part of the story here. You have to know — they are the same enemy. There is no difference between the Palestinian Authority and the Arabs in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and Iran. The enemy is the same enemy, and they need to receive the same treatment.*
*"My daughters are orphans of an amazing father who was a very significant part of their lives. They will not forget him, but he will no longer be present physically. His spirit will continue with them,” she concluded.*

Ousted Yitzhar security coordinator severely criticizes Samaria Regional Council head

Dismissed Yitzhar security coordinator accuses Samaria Regional Council head over delayed response to attack.

https://www.israelnationalnews.com/news/430706

----

*The dismissed security coordinator of the community of Yitzhar was heard in a closed WhatsApp conversation on Friday leveling sharp criticism at Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan and regional security officials.*

*He claimed that after being removed from his position, he was disconnected from work-related communication groups and operational channels, causing him to arrive late at the scene of the deadly terrorist attack.*

*According to the security coordinator, the delay resulted from a decision by the Samaria Regional Council head together with senior military officials to remove him from all relevant groups.*

*"As a result, no one knew how to get to the scene until they arrived," he said. "And when they did, they handled it terribly. I don't know what to tell you."*

*The official reason given by the IDF for his dismissal was that he had entered Palestinian villages without authorization.*

*Residents, however, claimed he "did not align with the military's operational approach and was considered too aggressive by the brigade commander."*

Following the dismissal, the Yitzhar secretariat issued a statement accusing authorities of "completely abandoning residents' security" and attempting to punish the community because of "ego battles" within the Samaria Regional Council's security department.

*"It is unacceptable that, two and a half years after the events of October 7, dangerous steps are being taken that harm operational readiness, weapons availability, and the flow of information to the community's security forces," the statement said.*

It called on Dagan to intervene immediately and restore "basic security" to Yitzhar residents.

The Samaria Regional Council responded at the time by saying it was closely monitoring developments regarding the Yitzhar security coordinator and was working to promote a solution that would provide the best possible outcome for all parties.

The Dismissed Hagamar הגמ"ר soldier from Susya writes to me:*

is an acronym for local Defense הגנה מרחבית. It is a system based on local residents who are recruited into the reserves, which operates in cooperation with the IDF to protect the regional  settlements in Israel.)

"In the wake of the painful events of recent days, I would like to share an incident that happened to me about a year ago when I was a Hagana Merchavit soldier in Susya.

While on a patrol on Shabbat Eve, I see smoke from the direction of the Susya site and jump to the scene. It turns out that there are several ignition points in the nearby pine forest about 100 meters from the homes of the settlers there.

When I arrive at the point, guys from the site are already working to put out the fires. At the same time, I hear a confrontation and shouting in Hebrew and Arabic in the nearby chicken coops. I get in touch with my commander and receive an order to close in on the scene in order to protect the civilians there.

When I arrive, I see Jews under a shower of stones while the Arabs narrows in their direction. As soon as a few Arabs get within a short distance of me, I perform a military  rules of engagement procedure (Nohel Matzar Chashud, Definition: A graded-use-of-force protocol used by military and law enforcement personnel when approaching or stopping an individual acting suspiciously or fleeing) that ends with a shot in the air.

Baruch Hashem, this made them move away

This is a very dangerous situation that could have ended in a second with the seizure of weapons and harm to us.

As a "sign of appreciation" for the operation of the event, I was summoned for questioning by the Matzach,

(The Military Investigative Police (abbreviation for Military Investigative Police) is the IDF police unit that coordinates criminal investigations and traffic accidents in the army. The unit is headed by an officer with the rank of lieutenant colonel.)

I was arrested in a military prison and deprived of the right to possess weapons and denied the ability to defend the settlement.

This is the way of thinking that makes our enemies raise their heads and shed our blood!

May we soon be able to see the kingdom of David in its glory and together with the King Messiah, we will take great revenge!

KIPA ADUMA: Another shocking angle that shows this was simply a cold-blooded, brutal murder

Another shocking angle that shows this was simply a cold-blooded, brutal murder
☝🏼

Why does the video of the cold-blooded murder of Binyahu and Yuval make the blood boil?
Because you can see there that it simply didn’t have to happen! The heart explodes in front of the screen.

Here they are standing with weapons drawn – so why the hell don’t they fire into the air? Why don’t they shoot at the legs?

Here’s the filthy murderer, “the sheikh,” a moment before he murders them, holding the weapon, and there’s a soldier with a weapon drawn facing him – so why the hell doesn’t he shoot?!

Every moment of watching this makes you want to stop the video, go into the screen and change the script, so they would act the way they could have acted.

What burns the soul is seeing their enormous compassion and morality, versus the insane cruelty of the murderer.

The Jews had weapons, but out of compassion and humanity – and certainly also because they saw a sheikh in front of them and thought a religious man is someone you can talk to – they didn’t shoot. They came with morality, and the lowly murderer exploited that mercy to snatch the weapon and murder them.

And the most shocking part, that simply can’t be digested: after he snatched the weapon and gained the advantage, he didn’t shoot in order to neutralize. He shot them when they were already on the ground, helpless, with no ability to defend themselves. He shot them at point-blank range in cold blood just to make sure they were dead.

That gap, between their humanity and the pure evil of the filthy murderer who shoots a wounded person on the floor, is what gives no rest.
May their memory be a blessing. 💔

And maybe this script can no longer be changed, but what will happen next time can be changed. Act differently. Shoot into the air or at the legs. Protect yourselves. Better a military prison than a military grave. Better prison than a grave.

*Continuing the Will of Beneyahu Melat Hy"d: Demanding Conquest, Expulsion and Settlement.*

Following the severe attack on Friday, in which Benyahu Melat and Major Yuval Ezra were murdered, Hy"d, demonstrations were held at dozens of intersections throughout Judea and Samaria on Saturday night. Demanding that the villages of the murderers be razed, the enemy be expelled and Jewish settlement expanded.

Benyahu's brother, Amishav Melat, responded to the sealing of the terrorist's house by calling on the government to take meaningful steps:

> _"Give the widow and orphans the houses. Give discharged soldiers free plots of land on the ruins of this village of murderers." Give us a real victory - Conquest, Expulsion and Settlement!"

At the same time, heads of authorities in Judea and Samaria called on the government to act to change the security reality, annex the open areas in Areas A and B and turn them into Areas C.

The "Fight for Every Dunam" forum, of which Benyahu Melat Hy"d was one of the founders, also announced that it would work to accelerate the establishment of settlement nuclei in the points where he planned in his life to promote Jewish settlement.

According to the forum, as a direct continuation of Benyahu's will, a process will begin to establish new settlement points in the area between the settlements of Gav Hahar, Emanuel and Havat Gilad.

The Sovereignty Movement: The Struggle Is Over Who Owns This Land. This Land Will Belong to Those Who Apply Sovereignty to It

*The Sovereignty Movement: The Struggle Is Over Who Owns This Land. This Land Will Belong to Those Who Apply Sovereignty to It*

The horrific murder near Havat Gilad is yet another painful reminder that the battle in Judea and Samaria is not about one farm or another. It is a struggle over the most fundamental question: Whose land is this?

For many years, Israel has responded to terrorism by establishing another community, another neighborhood, or another farm. Yet while Jews build one farm at a time, the Arabs are building highrise buildings and operating what is, in every practical sense, a state.

It is time to put an end to this national stammering:
On the one hand, compensating us with more construction; on the other, refusing to apply sovereignty while allowing the Palestinian state within our midst to continue to exist.

This message is interpreted by our enemies as a lack of confidence in the justice of our cause and in our rightful claim to this land, and it only encourages continued terrorism.

*The response that is required is not another isolated construction project, but a national and political decision: to apply Israeli sovereignty over Judea, Samaria, and Gaza; to annul the Oslo Accords; to dismantle the rule of the Palestinian state (stop calling it the "Palestinian Authority"); and to abolish the division of the territory into Areas A, B, and C.*

Only full Israeli sovereignty will create a clear reality of responsibility, governance, and deterrence.

We call upon the Government of Israel: It is still not too late to correct this course. Resolve the battle in Judea and Samaria and Gaza decisively once and for all. Replace the policy of management and containment with a policy of decisive victory, governance, and sovereignty.

To the families of Benyahu Melet, hy"d, and Yuval Ezra, hy"d, who gave their lives out of love for the Land of Israel, we extend our deepest condolences.

May it be G-d's will that from this profound pain will emerge a historic national decision, and that you may find comfort in the application of Israeli sovereignty over every part of our homeland.

Avi Abelow: Stop the immoral Rules of Engagement

Stop the Immoral Rules of Engagement

Bsd

Before Shabbat, a group of Israeli Jews who regularly hike around Judea & Samaria, families, kids, hikers of all ages, were attacked while hiking near Havat Gilad by a group of Arab jihadis from the neighboring village of Tell. The civilian in charge of security at Chavat Gilad heard about the incident and ran down to protect the Jewish hikers, trying desperately not to shoot. Instead used his rifle as a club to push the attackers back. The Muslim sheikh from the village grabbed the gun and shot, within seconds he murdered two Jews.

The videos are clear. Our people did everything humanly possible to avoid using lethal force. The second the jihadi Sheikh had the gun, he used it to kill.

And what was the immediate response from large parts of the Israeli left and their media allies? Warnings about “settler violence”. No sympathy for fellow Jews, under attack, killed. Just the same reflexive, dishonest, hateful script towards their fellow Jews in Judea and Samaria.

Israeli journalist Amit Segal, called out the lie in his reporting last night. The footage destroys the narrative. Jews restrained themselves. The jihadis did not.

This is the grim reality we face: a jihadi enemy that murders us, combined with an internal hatred that demonizes our own people and empowers our genocidal enemies — even after the tragic wake-up call of October 7.

The result of Friday’s attack is not an isolated tragedy. It is the direct outcome of a rotten legal policy that has been poisoning our security forces for years.

Our soldiers, officers, civilian security coordinators, and civilians are terrified to use their weapons. Not because they lack courage, they have proven that over and over, but because they know the legal system will come after them. The restrictive rules of engagement written by IDF legal advisors, and the post-Elor Azaria climate of fear, have turned self-defense into a potential career-ending crime, for soldiers and civilians. Anytime a Jew uses a gun to stop a terrorist, the legal system immediately confiscates his weapon and investigates him under the automatic assumption that he was in the wrong.

This is a disgrace that must end.

Remember Elor Azaria. He was an IDF soldier in Hebron who shot a terrorist who had already been stopped from murdering Israelis. He feared the terrorist on the ground was moving to detonate a suicide bomb, and shot himagain. For that he was court-martialed, convicted, and sent to prison for “manslaughter”. An IDF soldier making a split-second decision to save lives, was hounded and punished by the legal system and mainstream media for doing what he was trained to do. The message was received loud and clear: better a dead Jew than a soldier who risks the wrath of the Military Advocate General.

Listen to what our own fighters are saying right now from the ground:

A combat reservist describes a night pursuit deep inside a hostile jihadist village in Samaria. The suspect threw what looked like an explosive charge. The soldier fired two rounds and neutralized him on the spot. No commendation. Instead: investigation by the Military Police, and dismissal from his battalion. “They send us into battle and then dissect and judge every finger you moved from an air-conditioned office and punish you. This criminal conduct by the IDF simply freezes the fighters in the field from acting, and brings disasters like these upon us.”

Another fighter who recently served in the sector responsible for the village of Tell (from which the recent attack came) describes the same broken reality: entering the Tell village means rocks from rooftops, armed men, and a Palestinian Authority police station. To enter at all, the IDF company commander needs high-level approval, and even then is limited to stun grenades, as if dealing with disorderly demonstrators rather than a murderous population.

One incident: soldiers enter a house in Tell after being pelted with stones from the roof. The homeowner jumps a soldier. Another soldier strikes him and wounds him in the head. Minutes later the report comes down from above in the IDF: Stop. a soldier injured a ‘Palestinian Authority policeman’. That “policeman” had just attacked an IDF soldier.

Another: at a checkpoint, an IDF Civil Administration officer warns that in five minutes a convoy of 70 armed Palestinian policemen with 70 Kalashnikovs will pass under Israeli approval near Yitzhar. “Don’t photograph them.” A full company of PA forces moving freely near Israeli communities with the IDF’s permission.

And the only thing that makes the entire the army jittery? When Jews from Yitzhar go down to the road. Suddenly “settler violence” is the greatest threat.

This is the Oct. 6 conception still at its peak in IDF senior command: treating a jihadi population as a friendly civilian population that just happens to produce the occasional “individual” terrorist. It is the same conception that failed us in Gaza on October 7.

The army must change the rules of engagement. Immediately. The jihadi population in Judea & Samaria is exactly the same jihadi population in Gaza. Arab surveys post Oct. 7 highlight how the majority of the population in Judea & Samaria support the Oct. 7 massacre and mass rape.

The IDF must treat the enemy population as what it is, an enemy. The same ideology that produced Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and the October 7 massacre is the dominant ideology among those who call themselves Palestinians and the Palestinian Authority armed police force. It is a 1,400-year-old jihadi worldview that still has Muslims around the world chanting “Khaybar, Khaybar ya Yahud”, celebrating Mohammad’s massacre of Jews back in the year 628 CE! There are individuals who reject terror. They exist. But the population as a whole is not “our partner.” It is a jihadi sea in which the terrorists swim.

Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Chairman Boaz Bismuth has already sent an urgent letter to the IDF Chief of Staff demanding a change in open-fire regulations: “It is unacceptable that a fighter fears the military prosecutor more than he fears the terrorist.”

MK Amit Halevi put it plainly: “the videos of yesterday’s murders tell the whole story. Reckless directives from senior IDF command and the Military Advocate General cause soldiers and officers to refrain from effectively defending our citizens. The military prosecution was created to protect IDF soldiers, not to abandon them to the enemy’s fire.”

“Defense Minister Israel Katz must instruct Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir to change the field guidelines at once: meaningful security zones around every soldier and civilian, fire to neutralize threats from distance, and proactive operations against both the civilian and military infrastructures of terror.”

Until this changes, more Jews will die. Not because our people lack bravery, but because the system has taught them that using their weapons to stay alive and keep others alive is more dangerous to their future than the terrorist in front of them.

The blood of Benaya Malat and his fellow victim is on the hands of those who created and maintain this fear.

Jewish life is not cheaper than the comfort of legal advisors or the political narratives of the left. The army’s job is to protect Jews, and to deter the enemy, not to manage the feelings of an enemy population that raises its children on the dream of our destruction.

Change the rules. Treat the enemy as the enemy. Or prepare for more funerals and more dishonest headlines blaming the victims.

Our soldiers who fought bravely in Gaza cannot understand how that same enemy is treated with kid gloves in Judea and Samaria. Talk about confusion. We should not need another October 7-style massacre in Judea and Samaria before IDF command adjusts to finally deal with the enemy properly.

With it all the nation of Israel knows the enemy and spirits are high to continue building and strengthening our God-given, indigenous, ancestral homeland. Our future is bright. We will overcome. And praying for a proud, sane IDF policy that finally recognizes the whole population of “palestinian” jihadis as the enemy.

Strengthen your faith. We will overcome.

Am Yisrael Chai!!!

7 Palestinians wounded in reprisal rampage by settlers
2 Israelis, 4 Palestinians killed in gunfight sparked by settler raid of Palestinian town

My comments:

"7 Palestinians wounded in reprisal rampage by settlers"

What a misleading lead into the headline!!!
7 Palestinians wounded???? How about mentioning Palestinian  terrorists were neutralized after they murdered an Israeli security officer and IDF Soldier who restrained themselves when they and a group of hikers were threatened.

"Reprisal rampage"
A blatant lie!!! Apparently Jews need to be like sheep, restrain themselves and then allow the Arabs to murder them with no deterrence

"Two Israelis and four Palestinians were killed on Friday after a Palestinian snatched a weapon from a group of settlers who had raided a northern West Bank village and opened fire, leading to fears of reprisal attacks throughout the territory."

"Israelis"? Actually an armed Security officer and IDF Soldier
"Killed"? Actually murdered in a terror attack when they, the Israeli Security officer and the IDF soldier restrained shooting at the threatening Arab mob.

Wow! An Israeli paper literally shooting Jews with their bias against Settlers!

Here is the more accurate reporting of what happened from Israel Breaking News.

"A Palestinian Arab terrorist seized a local security coordinator’s weapon and opened fire on Israeli hikers near Havat Gilad in Samaria on Friday morning, killing a 30-year-old man and wounding two others (one seriously and one moderately).
The attack occurred during a pre-coordinated hike from Har Bracha toward Havat Gilad and Kedumim, when Palestinian Arabs gathered around the hikers, leading to a confrontation in which the weapon was stolen and used. Security forces responded by neutralizing four terrorists and injuring three others, while pursuing remaining suspects, imposing a cordon on Nablus and the village of Tal, and evacuating the wounded by helicopter. Israeli officials, including Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, condemned the attack and called for a strong response to restore deterrence.'

Basically, an Israel Security Officer Beneyahu Melet הי"ד and an IDF soldier Yuval Ezra הי"ד were murdered by a Palestinian Sheikh Terrorist after he snatched the gun away from the security officer that restrained himself together with the IDF from shooting at the violent Arab mob threatening a group of Jewish Hikers. Unfortunately the IDF failed to effectively preempt to prevent this tragic attack.  These officers came to protect the group of Israeli hikers but instead were tragically murdered.

TOI slanted version:
"Essam Saifi, a local leader in the Palestinian Fatah party from Tell, told Reuters in a phone call that about 25 to 30 settlers initially attacked the eastern area of Tell and tried to break into two houses there."

I suppose when TOI chooses to believe the PA Fatah leader and Reuters over the Jewish narrative. Settlers are in big trouble.

These Jews were Hiking!!! Not attacking Tell! They were NOT raiding an Arab Village. These Jews Did NOT open fire because if they did the Shiekh would have died and not them because he would have been unable to snatch their gun away.  These are blatant Lies !!!!!

Elisha Yered: Distorted Reporting by News Channel Kan 11 to Slander the Settlers

My comments:

Slanted reporting of Kan 11 and Times of Israel

July 23, 2026 1:23pm
Tensions in Judea and Samaria: Palestinian family expelled from home by Jewish rioters. IDF: Working to allow them to return | @HGoldich reports

Here is a link to Golditch's article regarding a terror attack in Samaria and the fire a few hours later. Maybe he saw what Elisha Yered posted. But still you can see his slant.

July 23,2026 3:15pm
A day of terror in Samaria: Two stabbing attacks within a few hours

"Within hours - two attacks in Samaria: A soldier was stabbed at an IDF post and slightly injured, earlier a man was stabbed and seriously injured while trying to put out a fire that broke out on a farm. The Samaria Council claims that those who started the fire were Palestinians from a village in the area, but the cause of the fire has not yet been officially determined."

To be fair, Chaim Golditch, the Kan 11 journalist, to his credit did report the latest terror attack on Jewish Settlers near Itamar even though he totally ignored previous terror attacks near Aish Kodesh while seeing appropriate to write an article about an Arab family feeling harassed by Jewish Settlers.

He did note in this later article that while the Samaria Council claims that those who started the fire were Palestinians from a village in the area, Golditch was careful to note that the cause of the fire has not yet been officially determined. (Apparently, the Palestinian Authority’s official WAFA news agency alleged the fire that threatened the Jews was started by Israeli settlers from the area. Wafa is a "credible" source. Golditch's perspective of the Samaria Council is that it isn't "official" enough...

(Perhaps fires like what happened in Havat Gilad that destroyed 13,14 houses and industrial business and caused extensive damage to the Village and could have spread much further if it wasn't stopped, are started from a cigarette butt thrown accidentally on Shabbat by someone... My sarcastic comment).

From here we see how important it is to hold journalists accountable if they report Settler Violence out of context.

The same event reported in Times of Israel is also problematic.

One of the attackers identified as Palestinian Authority cop
2 Israelis hurt in separate stabbings in West Bank; 3 Palestinian attackers killed
To the credit of Times of Israel they did note that the attacker was a Palestinian Authority Cop. Yes, it is pretty worrisome that Israel allows hostile trained and armed Palestinian Authority police, potential terrorists, to provide "Security" under Israel's watch in Judea and Samaria.

However, the article concludes...
"...The same period has also seen a major surge in attacks by settler extremists on Palestinians and their property across the West Bank. The IDF recorded 867 incidents of nationalistic crime and settler violence in 2025. The total for 2024 was 682 incidents."

There is apparently pressure on News channels to be "fair" in their reporting...

Well then they should tell the other side, a surge in attacks on Jewish Settlers in 2026 and Jewish property by the Palestinians!

Regavim, Elisha Yered of Hilltop News and Elchonon Groner of haKol Hayehudi have exposed the Blood Libel of "Settler Violence".

Times of Israel and the IDF should be held accountable to report the context of the "Nationalistic crimes and Settler Violence". Regavim and the Hilltop Settlers tell the opposite story with high statistics of a tremendous surge of terror attacks in 2026, thefts and arsons against Settlers by Palestinians! Jews, the victims, with coordination with the IDF, have in fact defended themselves and their property. Yet the statistics of "Settler Violence" include these acts of self defense by Settlers and includes IDF involvement as "Settler Violence" when they are rather the victims of Arab violence or fighting or deterring it. Such Settlers have gotten arrested or have received outrageous draconian illegal administrative detention orders when they are actually defending themselves and their property. The Central
Command under Bluth and Police have enforced unjust Settler arrests and enforced draconian and apparently illegal detention orders with no heart. Settlers are denied basic civil rights often with no charges or any evidence of wrongdoing provided, based on the say so of the Jewish Division of Terror. Settler homes are demolished often by hired Arabs workers who are implementing orders by the Central command, and Jewish women and children are woken up in the middle of the night and thrown out of their homes seeing their homes demolished. Demolitions often happen before Shabbat or Chag.

There is selective prosecution of Police that is biased against Settlers in favor of Arabs. There is plenty of illegal Arab buildings that are not demolished.

That is the Truth of "Settler Violence" a false narrative, a blood libel to serve a political agenda to push the 2 State Solution Narrative.

Bottom line is that there is no real deterrence against the real villain, Arab Terror.

Elchonon Groner: The big question is why is Ravshatz afraid to shoot at the rioters who attacked him?*

Ravshatz is a Hebrew Acronym for the Current Local Military Security Coordinator. This is the person responsible for guarding and protecting the community during normal times and in emergencies, until the Israel Defense Forces or the police arrive on the scene.

The big question is why is Rabshatz afraid to shoot at the rioters who attacked him?*

The immediate answer that the security officials in Samaria are talking to me about in this incident is the commander of the Samaria Brigade, Ariel Gonen. Gonen, who left his post a few days ago, cannot wash his hands of it.

Recently, he dismissed the Yitzhar rabshatz on the grounds that he had shot at a similar incident right near the scene of today's attack when Arab rioters attacked Jews there. Anyone who knows the area knows that the Yitzhar rabshatz would have arrived first and handled the incident if he had not been dismissed.

In addition, a number of rabshatz from the mountain range and Gush Shiloh have received hearings and warning calls in the past two months from the brigade commander towards the end of his term. For some time now, civilian security personnel have been complaining to me about this terrible commander's spirit, and fighters are talking about briefings against settlers on the way to the line.

Today we paid in blood. Sorry Benyahu, we didn't shout enough. Forgive us, my dear brother.

*SENSELESS, UNPROVOKED, ARABS MURDER 2, WOUND 2: SOLDIERS HESITATE TO SHOOT*

Commentary, Kipa Aduma

*The heart is shattered into pieces. This morning on the outskirts of the village of Tel in Samaria, terrorists attacked a group of hikers.*

Bnayahu Malat of blessed memory, a member of Havat Gilad’s emergency response team, and Major Yuval Ezra of blessed memory jumped in to save them.

*During a difficult confrontation, a terrorist seized a weapon and opened deadly fire.*
*Bnayahu and Yuval were murdered, and two other members of the group were seriously wounded and are fighting for their lives.*

*This is a needless murder and an incident that should never have happened*.

*If they hadn’t been afraid to shoot, they would still be alive now. They were afraid to shoot because anyone who defends himself gets thrown in prison, and this is the result.*

From now on, anyone who is attacked should shoot immediately. A sick country that protects murderers and abandons our blood.

They didn’t have to die. They had weapons and could have shot and defended themselves, but *they were afraid of the filthy regime of the State of Israel that would throw them in prison, and now they are in the grave.*

Better to sit in prison than to lie in the grave. *Disobey an illegal order and protect yourselves!*

*May God avenge their blood, may their memory be a blessing.*
*Please, God, heal the wounded.*

Elisha Yered: Distorted Reporting by News Channel Kan 11 to Slander the Settlers

Tensions in Judea and Samaria: Palestinian family expelled from home by Jewish rioters. IDF: Working to allow them to return | @HGoldich reports

*"What a despicable report by Haim Golditch from the Corporation that illustrates the depths to which he has managed to sink within a few short months."*

On a day like this of Arab terrorism that struck throughout Judea and Samaria, Golditch chose to come to the evening edition with a thrilling story: a family from the murderers’ village of Jalud claims that settlers harassed them until they chose to leave their home.

*But the peak came later in the report.*
In order to supposedly illustrate how much the place is an arena of “settler violence,” Golditch noted that even today “clashes occurred there between settlers and Palestinians that included shooting.” At the end of the sentence, the Corporation’s correspondent noted that “no casualties were reported” in the incident.
*Well, there most definitely were casualties — Jews — in an event that was a lynching attack by Arabs on a Jewish shepherd. Very far from “clashes.”*

*Terrorists from the village of Jalud set a fire at the foot of the settlement of Aish Kodesh, which turned out to be a diversion. Simultaneously with the fire, terrorists sneaked around the mountain, seized a Jewish shepherd who was with his flock in the valley below the settlement, beat him with clubs, and fled.*

The shooting, by the way, was *not at all by “settlers,” but by security forces who arrived late to the scene after they had to clear roadblocks of stones that the Arabs of Jalud had placed in order to delay the arrival of the forces.*

The lynching of the shepherd was reported by me on Twitter and by several other journalists who are connected to the field in Judea and Samaria.
Golditch is apparently so disconnected and simply recycles the Shin Bet and the Arabs, to the point that he didn’t even hear about the incident and about the Jewish shepherd who was injured.
