The scourge of weapons seizures in Judea and Samaria continues: in the past month, at least four incidents of kidnapping or attempted kidnapping of weapons from fighters and members of the security forces were recorded.

The most serious and memorable incident occurred about a month ago near Havat Gilad, in a terrorist attack in which a member of the readiness squad, Benyahu Melat, and Major Yuval Ezra, were murdered. During the incident, the terrorists managed to seize the rabbi's weapon.

The next day, Arab rioters attacked an IDF soldier on vacation grazing sheep near Susya, wounded him in the head and seized his weapon. 

Less than a week later, a terrorist tried to seize a weapon from a fighter who had been brought into a confrontation near a fence in Gush Etzion. Yesterday, another incident occurred in Hebron, which is still under investigation, and in which suspicions of an attempted kidnapping of a weapon from a soldier arose. 

A military source, a senior officer in the field who knows the area well, sharply criticizes the senior command and claims that the fighters do not receive clear instructions and sufficient support:

> _"A minimum distance should have been defined for distancing. A minimum distance that every Arab suspect must maintain from an IDF soldier, who, as soon as he crosses it, will be shot. Ten meters. No contact. A terrorist who moves towards a soldier and closes a range of ten meters - that's shooting."_

According to him, after the attack in which Benyahu Melat fell, the Central Command and the Chief of Staff were expected to order the refinement of procedures and investigate in depth how it was possible to approach the fighters and attempt to seize weapons.

 > _"If you see another incident like this of approaching a soldier and attempting to kidnap him after the Benyahu incident, you should have made a scandal out of it. Investigate it in depth and tell the commanders in the sector: 'How the hell did you let him get close to him?'"_

Instead, the officer claims, the feeling on the ground is that the system is moving forward without any significant change and without a clear message to the fighters on how they should act when a terrorist closes in on them.

מכת חטיפות הנשק באיו"ש נמשכת: בחודש האחרון נרשמו לפחות ארבעה אירועים של חטיפה או ניסיון חטיפת נשק מלוחמים ואנשי כוחות הביטחון.

האירוע הקשה והזכור ביותר התרחש לפני כחודש סמוך לחוות גלעד, בפיגוע שבו נרצחו איש כיתת הכוננות בניהו מלט הי"ד ורס"ן יובל עזרא הי"ד. במהלך האירוע הצליחו המחבלים לחטוף  את נשקו של הרבש"ץ.

למחרת, פורעים ערבים התנפלו על חייל צה"ל בחופשה שרעה צאן סמוך לסוסיא, פצעו אותו בראשו וחטפו את נשקו.

פחות משבוע לאחר מכן ניסה מחבל לחטוף נשק מלוחם שהוקפץ לעימות סמוך למיצד בגוש עציון. אתמול התרחש אירוע נוסף בחברון, שנמצא עדיין בתחקור, ובו עלה חשד לניסיון חטיפת נשק מחייל.

גורם צבאי, קצין בכיר בדרג השטח שמכיר היטב את הגזרה, מותח ביקורת חריפה על הפיקוד הבכיר וטוען כי הלוחמים אינם מקבלים הנחיות ברורות וגיבוי מספק:

> _"היה צריך להגדיר טווח מינימלי להתרחקות. טווח מינימלי שכל חשוד ערבי חייב לשמור מחייל צה"ל, שברגע שהוא נחצה - יורים. עשרה מטרים. לא לנהל שום מגע. מחבל שנע לכיוון חייל וסוגר טווח של עשרה מטרים - זה ירי."_

לדבריו, לאחר הפיגוע שבו נפל בניהו מלט, היה מצופה מפיקוד המרכז ומהרמטכ"ל להורות על חידוד נהלים ולתחקר לעומק כיצד התאפשרה התקרבות ללוחמים וניסיון חטיפת נשק.

> _"אם אתה רואה עוד אירוע כזה של התקרבות לחייל וניסיון חטיפה אחרי האירוע של בניהו, היית צריך לעשות מזה סקנדל. לתחקר את זה לעומק ולהגיד למפקדים בגזרה: 'איך לעזאזל נתתם לו להתקרב אליו?'"_

במקום זאת, טוען הקצין, התחושה בשטח היא שהמערכת ממשיכה הלאה בלי שינוי משמעותי ובלי מסר חד ללוחמים כיצד עליהם לפעול כאשר מחבל סוגר עליהם טווח.
