Obama Prepares To Throw Israel Under The Bus

Melanie Phillips

WEDNESDAY, 6TH MAY 2009

As predicted here repeatedly – Obama is attempting to throw
Israel under the Islamist bus, and he's getting American Jews to do his dirty work for him. White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel reportedly told the Israel lobbying group AIPAC on Sunday that efforts to stop Iran hinged on peace talks with the Palestinians. General James Jones, National Security Adviser to Obama, reportedly told a European foreign minister a week ago that unlike the Bush administration, Obama will be 'forceful' with Israel. Ha'aretz reports:

Jones is quoted in the telegram as saying that the United States, European Union and moderate Arab states must redefine 'a satisfactory endgame solution.' The U.S. national security adviser did not mention Israel as party to these consultations.

Of course not. If you are going to throw a country under the bus, you don't invite it to discuss the manner of its destruction with the assassins who are co-ordinating the crime. As I said here months ago, the appointment of Jones and the elevation of his post of National Security Adviser at the expense of the Secretary of State was all part of the strategy to centralise power in the hands of those who want to do Israel harm.

Yesterday Vice-President Joe Biden and Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry turned the thumbscrews tighter, telling Israel to stop building more settlements, dismantle existing outposts and allow Palestinians freedom of movement.

This is all not only evil but exceptionally stupid. The idea that a Palestine state will help build a coalition against Iran is demonstrably absurd. The Arab states are beside themselves with anxiety about Iran. They want it to be attacked and its nuclear programme stopped. They are desperately fearful that the Obama administration might have decided that it can live with a nuclear Iran.

The idea that if a Palestine state comes into being it will be easier to handle Iran is the opposite of the case: a Palestine state will be Iran, in the sense that it will be run by Hamas as a proxy for the Islamic Republic. The idea that a Palestine state will not compromise Israel's security is ludicrous.

It is of course, by any sane standard, quite fantastic that America is behaving as if it is Israel which is holding up a peace settlement when Israel has made concession after concession – giving up Sinai, giving up Gaza, offering all the territories to the Arabs in return for peace in 1967, offering more than 90 per cent of them ditto in 2000, ditto again to Mahmoud Abbas in the past year -- only to be attacked in return by a Palestinian terrorist entity, backed in its continued aggression, let us not forget, by the countries of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, which has made no concessions at all and is not being pressured to do so.

It is not the aggressor here but the victim of aggression that America is now choosing to beat up. In any sane world, one might think the Americans would be piling the pressure on the Palestinians to renounce their genocidal ambitions against Israel, to stop teaching and training their children to hate and kill Jews, to adhere to the primary requirement in the Road Map that they must dismantle their infrastructure of violence as the first step in the peace process; one might think, indeed, that they would view Mahmoud Abbas's repeated statements that the Palestinians will never accept Israel as a Jewish state to be the main impediment to peace.

But no. The repeated professions that America will never jeopardise Israel's security are stomach churning when Obama is actually blaming Israel for measures it has taken to safeguard its security – the settlements were always first and foremost a security measure, and the travel restrictions are there solely to prevent more Israelis being murdered – and trying to force it to abandon them. Today comes further news that Obama will also try to force Israel to give up its nuclear weapons – which it only has as a last ditch insurance against the attempt to annihilate it to which several billion Arabs remain pledged.

Of course Obama doesn't care that Hamas would run any Palestinian state. Of course he doesn't care that Israel would be unable to defend itself against such a terrorist state. Because he regards Israel as at best totally expendable, and at worst as a running sore on the world's body politic that has to be purged altogether (see this bleak assessment by Sultan Knish
: http://sultanknish.blogspot.com/2009/05/obamas-plan-to-destroy-israel.html). His administration is proceeding on the entirely false analysis that a state of Palestine is the solution to the Middle East impasse and the route to peace in the region. What that state will look like or do is something to which at best the administration's collective mind is shut and at worst makes it a potential cynical accomplice to the unconscionable. So Israel is to be forced out of the West Bank. Far from building a coalition against Iran, Obama is thus doing Iran's work for it.

None of this, however, should come as the slightest surprise to anyone who paid any attention to Obama's background, associations and friendships before he became President and to the cabal of Israel-bashers, appeasers and Jew-haters he appointed to his administration, with a few useful idiots thrown in for plausible deniability.

American Jews, meanwhile, are reacting as predicted – with a total absence of spine.  As IsraelMatzav reports, AIPAC was sending delegates to visit Congress to 'convince' Representatives and Senators to sign a petition calling for a two-state solution. Inspired! Almost eighty per cent of American Jews voted for Obama despite the clear and present danger he posed to Israel. They did so because their liberal self-image was and is more important to them than the Jewish state whose existence and security cannot be allowed to jeopardise their standing with America's elite.

But the ordinary American people are a different matter. They do value and support Israel. They do understand that if Israel is thrown under that bus, the west is next. And it is they to whom Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu must now appeal, over the heads of the politicians and the media and certainly America's Jews and everyone else. He must tell the American people the terrible truth, that America is now run by a man who is intent on sacrificing Israel for a reckless and amoral political strategy which will put America and the rest of the free world at risk.

This is shaping up to be the biggest crisis in relations between Israel and America since the foundation of Israel six decades ago. Those who hate Israel and the Jews will be gloating. This after all is precisely what they hoped Obama would do. To any decent person looking on aghast, this is where the moral sickness of the west reaches the critical care ward.

Dear Fellow Activists, amv"sh

If you haven't already, please subscribe to Eretz Israel Shelanu.

If you haven't already, please sign the petition. http://www.petitiononline.com/1eys/petition.html

We are interested in building an activist database of email addresses and shul affiliation so if you are interested in being part of such an activist group please provide your email address and shul affiliation when you sign the petition.  Your contact information will be made available to the owners of the petition. It does not need to be public for public viewers unless you specify so. Beezrat Hashem we will be in contact with you.  Our goal is a grassroot effort to unite the activists by location and by activity to speak out forcefully for our entitlement of Eretz Yisroel and against a Palestinian State chas vechalila.

Please be aware that you might have signed an earlier version of this petiion.  If this is the case please sign again. If you did not include your email address and shul affiliation, then please sign again even if it means a duplicate entry since it is not possible to edit a previous entry.   This information will help us build an activist database and this information will be used to empower us to eventually work more efficiently together to coordinate our collective activities on behalf of Eretz Yisroel. Our goal is to enable us to share our resources and professional expertise and give chizuk to one another. .  It will reduce redundancy in what we are doing and like the Continental Congress in the United States of America served to unite all the colonies, this will hopefully unite all the organizationa, Yishuvim, Yeshivot, outposts, activists, spokespeople of Yehuda and the Shomron into a more cohesive group.  Please note that this is a relational model. That means that while for various purposes things can be set up as a hierarchy, for other purposes the same information is set up completely differently either in a different hierarchy or as a relational model .

Let me explain.  For example,   I am my own individual. I have my own id.  I am also the daughter of my parents.  I can express myself either as an individual and I can express myself under my parents umbrella.  Alternatively, I can express myself as a teacher of my students, and my students, can express themselves as being my students or alternatively as individuals of their own with their own individual ID or as children of their parents.

Our purpose is not to take the character out of any particular cause or organization but rather to strengthen each individual worthy cause or institution  while working united to fight the formation of a Palestinian State.  While in a sense all of our organizations are competing for funds to support our individual worthy cause, we all recognize that when we strengthen our brothers and sisters, we strengthen ourselves. The shuk, the market in  Mechaneh Yehuda is an example of how competing vendors join to sell their wares in order to benefit all. .

Given the unfortunate reality that the mainstream Jewish organizations and mainstream media have been SILENT and are not speaking out for our entitlement, we have no choice but to be our own voice that will only be heard when we unite as one.

Each one of us is too weak individually to fight an effective struggle against the raging storm facing us.  Yet if we look toward the origins of the founding of the State of Israel, it was built upon the ruins of the Holocaust.  No one had too much.  Everyone was basically poor.  Yet the Kibbutz ideology, enabled the Nation to survive since the socialist concept of sharing enabled  each individual to contribute whatever they had to contribute.  When we share our resources, professional expertise, and if we have any money left after volunteering, there is so much we can accomplish together w/o requiring tremendous funding. This is consistent with the spirit of Shabbat Haaretz, which is the spirit of Eretz Yisroel.

Eventually, our sharing can and should  turn into personal profit making that is typical of a capitalist society. We will be subject to the laws of ownershipa and tithes.  However, every seven years we will once again be reminded of the Spirit of Shabbat, the spirit of Gan Eden, the spirit found in a Kibbutz or in a  Bungalow Colony lehavdil  that will put things back in perspective.  It will provide the necessary balance to our competitive spirit that threatens to take over our lives restoring our equilibrium and balance once again.

The following newsletter serves to notify the activist population of various events and posts on behalf of Eretz Yisroel Shalanu (our Eretz Yisroel and not theirs).

Safeguard Israel Ad Campaign - We need a different kind of ad in my opinion

bs"d

Dear Nadia and Yehudit, amv"sh

You know how much I love you and what you do!  There is no one is Israel that does more for ERetz Yisroel then WOMEN IN GREEN WIG.  I am the first person to support your campaigns. I am not against raising $28,000 for an ad campaign.

However, I have no faith in our ability to convince Bibi and therefore I don't think this ad campaign will work. (see attachment of ad)  I do hope that Bibi will do Teshuva but  my expectations based on his past history is that he won't.

I have no expectations of convincing the Gedoilim as well. Based on their past history my expectations are that they won't.

Our campaign therefore is to get the people to scream out in a forceful way that Eretz Yisroel is our Biblical inheritance, our gift from Hashem and no elected or spiritual leader has the authority or mandate to act otherwise to annul G-ds Covenant with the Jewish people..

Each individual must safeguard Eretz Yisroel by supporting settlement in Eretz Yisroel in whatever individual capacity they have.  No one can leave this  job to a political official be it a prime minister or a Rav  who masquerades politics behind Torah.

Signing the petition is a simple non costly act and we can build up a database of people that love Eretz Yisroel.

http://www.PetitionOnline.com/1eys/petition.html

Please help promote it.

Raising money or donating money to an ad that proclaims our entitlement is another way.  Helping a family or business in Yesha or partnering with them is another way etc.

Our job as activists  is to be mezakeh the Rabim, making the nation worthy of the Land by an expression, verbal and with facts on the ground of  our collective desire and longing for the Land of Israel and for her commandments.  Then G-d will be on our side and He is all powerful to fight for us and defend us from our enemies.

Yasher Koach and may Hashem guide us!

Robin

Campaign of the National Camp for Eretz Yisroel Fwd: Petition is starting to grow, please re-send to your lists!

bs"d

Dear Fellow activists, amv"sh

http://www.PetitionOnline.com/1eys/petition.html

There are several campaigns currently underway on behalf of Eretz Yisroel.  Our campaign has been going on for some time.  We have been asking the public to contact their Rabbanim for a while.  The time has come for people to take this seriously and act upon it.  The major Torah organizations and media have influence over hundreds of thousands of caring Jews!  It is a grass roots campaign to address the Gedolei Hador and the major Jewish Torah Organizations to speak out forcefully on behalf of Yehudah and the Shomron and against a Palestinian State. The Silence is a Chillul Hashem, a desecration of G-ds name.  In  February 2008 the following campaign was conducted to contact the Agudath Yisroel of America and the OU and the YI to speak out for Yehuda and the Shomron. http://shemittahrediscovered.blogspot.com/2008/02/timetodo4israel-action-campaign-just.html.  The message is more or less the same.

This past week  appearing in Hamodia page B21 did you know that there was a picture of  Ambassador Cunningham, Ambassador of the United States together with Rav Eliashiv and Rav Efrati. The article said that Rav Eliashiv greeted him warmly and gave him his blessings.  The Ambassador said that the US is looking forward to Netanyahus visit to the US...

DOESN'T this picture send a clear message to the Jewish People that Rav Eliashiv is supportive of a Palestinian State??????

In response to this meeting with Ambassador, we are starting a campaign to unite all those that are against a Palestinian State especially those that are the leaders in the struggle to settle Yehudah and Shomron  to insist that they too have a meeting with Rav Eliashiv and their picture be shown in  Hamodia and Rav Eliashiv greeting them warmly and bestowing upon them his blessings.

Women in Green, you who are involved in building Shdema and call for resettling Gush Katif, Yad Yair and have been establishing facts on the ground don't you deserve the proper recognition you deserve?  A picture with Rav Eliashiv  would get us the recognition we require without even an expensive Ad campaign even though an Ad campaign on buses gets the attention of the people.   A picture with Rav Eliashiv  in the paper doesn't cost anything because it is news. .

If Rav Eliashiv is hesitant to meet with women then please let Rav Eliashiv meet openly with Yaakov Katz of the the National Union, with  the hilltop youth and each and every one of the mayors and Roshei Yeshivoth in the Yishuvim in Yehuda and the Shomron,  Then our message will come across very clear.  Eretz Yisroel is our Biblical inheritance.  The hilltop youth represent Torah.

Dear Activists, Please expect a phone call from Shmuel Koenig who is working with us diligently and persistently to unite the activists to speak in a unified voice of Torah proclaring that the Land of Israel is our gift from G-d and our Biblical inheritance.  Shmuel Koenig will ask you if you would like to be included in a meeting with Rav Eliashiv and if you have any suggestions on how we can get an audience with  Rav Eliashiv please do so. We are very open to suggestions.  Perhaps you have some personal connections or political clout or suggestions.  Perhaps a series of phone calls to his office might do the trick since quiet diplomacy hasn't worked.  Years ago, we were told that he wasn't well etc.      True he is late in his 90's bli ayin hara, amv"sh but that didn't stop him from meeting with Cunningham this past month.

Let our petition reach hundreds of thousands before Yom Yerushalayim. Two years ago at the Agudah Convention, there was a declaration by Agudah for a united Jerusalem.  Yet when Condeleeza Rice, made it clear that Jerusalem was to be divided there was Silence even when Rav Eliashiv instructed Rav Perlow, that it was good to publicize that Jerusalem must not be divided.  How come we haven't heard much regarding this matter and of Rav Eliashiv's position?

Please don't ask who else is joining this campaign before passing it along.  If you join then others will join.  If you hesitate then others will hesitate.  do you agree with the wording.  If so, what fear do you have in signing it?

Many of you have already signed this  petition or a similar one.  There is more than one verson. So if your name does not appear, sign again. This one will be the one that is distributed most widely.    Please include your email address  so that we get a working database of activists. Please forward to your lists  Even if the wording is not exactly the way you would have phrased it, let's not stand on semantics in order that we build in numbers and make a real difference.

Also, On May 20th Rabbi Richman and his wife Rena will be on his way back to Jerusalem after meeting with Bnei Noahides throughout the States. .  Rabbi/Mayor  Moshe Goldsmith and his wife Lea  from Itamar  are on their way from Itamar.  We hope that their paths will cross in JFK. We want to take this opportunity to have an activist meeting and perhaps make a press conference to state a Torah Rabbinic ruling against a Palestinian State . If you wish to attend and be a part of this  meeting please let me know.  IF you know of any Rabbis that would be willing to participate please let us know.  Impress upon each and every Rav that his physical presence is greatly appreciated. Please note that Netanyahu will be in town starting May 18th and he might be sending a very different message  G-d forbid in favor of a Palestinian State if there is reciprocity.  We emphasize entitlement!. Even with reciprocity, the Land of Israel is our entitlement!
