What Netanyahu can learn from Parashat Balak
Parashat Balak is a very special chapter in the Torah. It is not just that it is the only Parsha named after a foreign king, but also that almost entirely the Parsha refers to events that did not happen to Jewish people but rather to a foreign people, Moab.
There is no unnecessary word in the Torah. The whole Torah comes to teach us the straight path. So too with Parshat Balak, which teaches us how the world sees the Jewish people.
From Balaam's "prophecies," we see three basic principles:

A. The people of Israel are governed solely by God's will.
"לֹא-הִבִּיט אָוֶן בְּיַעֲקֹב, וְלֹא-רָאָה עָמָל בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל; יְהוָה אֱלֹהָיו עִמּוֹ, וּתְרוּעַת מֶלֶךְ בּוֹ."

B. The people of Israel will defeat all their enemies and will endure forever thanks to God.
"הֶן-עָם כְּלָבִיא יָקוּם, וְכַאֲרִי יִתְנַשָּׂא; לֹא יִשְׁכַּב עַד-יֹאכַל טֶרֶף, וְדַם-חֲלָלִים יִשְׁתֶּה."*

C. The people of Israel must take care of their own interests, and not of others.
"הֶן-עָם לְבָדָד יִשְׁכֹּן, וּבַגּוֹיִם לֹא יִתְחַשָּׁב."
Perek 23:9 "... it is a nation that will dwell alone, and will not be reckoned among the nations.
These three principles are valid from 3300 years ago, the time of the desert,to the present day. They reflect the true status of the Jewish people in the world.

*מה נתניהו יכול ללמוד מפרשת "בלק"*
פרשת בלק היא פרשה מאד מיוחדת בתורה. היא לא רק הפרשה היחידה שקרויה על שם מלך זר אלא רובה ככולה מתייחסת לאירועים שכלל לא קרו בעם היהודי אלא בעם זר, מואב.
בתורה אין מילה מיותרת. כל התורה באה להורות לנו את דרך הישר. כך גם פרשת בלק, אשר מלמדת אותנו איך העולם רואה את העם היהודי.
מ"נבואותיו"של בלעם אנו רואים שלושה עקרונות יסוד:
א. עם ישראל מתנהל על פי רצון ה' בלבד. *"לֹא-הִבִּיט אָוֶן בְּיַעֲקֹב, וְלֹא-רָאָה עָמָל בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל; יְהוָה אֱלֹהָיו עִמּוֹ, וּתְרוּעַת מֶלֶךְ בּוֹ."*
ב. עם ישראל יביס את כל אויביו ויתקיים לנצח בזכות ה'. *"הֶן-עָם כְּלָבִיא יָקוּם, וְכַאֲרִי יִתְנַשָּׂא; לֹא יִשְׁכַּב עַד-יֹאכַל טֶרֶף, וְדַם-חֲלָלִים יִשְׁתֶּה."*

שלושה עיקרים אלה תקפים מתקופת המדבר לפני 3300 שנה, ועד ימינו. הם משקפים את מעמדו האמיתי של עם ישראל בעולם.
