My comments to this NYT Times article:
MY COMMENTS: (IN ENTIRETY)
The terrorists were not acting as individuals. This was organized terror no different than the attackers on 9/11. The PLF hijacked the Achille Lauro to get hostages in exchange of terrorist Samir Kuntar and 50 other Palestinian terrorists. In 1979 Samir Kuntar with several other terrorists from Lebanon committed one of the most brutal terror attacks ever... in Nahariya. 5 innocent people were murdered among them a small child whose blood samples were found on his weapon. Samir Kundar received 5 life sentences only to be freed years later. He was not freed after the hijacking of the Achille Lauro, But he was freed in another prisoner exchange years later.
This opera is deceptive. It portrays Palestinians lovingly embracing their young children as they flee their homes in 1948 during the War of Independence. when Israel was attacked on all sides by her enemies. This War of Independence was just, and people fleeing from their homes in times of war is legitimate when War is being fought for ones independence and homeland. Actually in the ZOA fact sheet "Why 'Death of Klinghoffer' is a Moral Atrocity, they write:
"In 1948-1949, seven Arab nations invaded Israel, and along with local Arab terrorists of that era, killed over 6,000 Jews - one percent of Israel's population. Moreover, Israeli Jews begged the Arabs to stay and live peacefully together in Israel in 1948. British police reports from the British headquarters in Haifa Israel at the time confirmed: 'Every effort is being made by the Jews to persuade the Arab populace to stay and carry on with their normal lives, to get their shops and their businesses open and to be assured that their lives and interests will be safe.'
Many Arabs did stay, and are judges, Knesset members, doctors and citizens of Israel today.
The opera also ignores the fact that the 'Arab refugee problem' was predominantly created by the Arab High Committee (AHC) and the leaders of seven neighboring Arab states (Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Yemen). The Arab leaders urged Arab civilians to temporarily leave Israeli areas so that the invading Arab nations' 1948-1949 war to annihilate Israel's Jews could proceed unencumbered by a local Arab civilian population."

Fact: The PLF and the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas actually encourage their kids to become Shahids and Shaheeds and martyrs. They glorify terrorists who murder innocent men, women and children. They train their children from a young age to wear suicide belts. The opera however doesn't show this evil side of the PLF terrorist. If it did, then perhaps it would be based on truth and not terrorist propaganda. They claim that they are men of ideals. They are liberating Palestine from the Occupiers.
LIE!! Israel is the indigenous people of the Land of Israel not the Palestinians. It says so in the Bible. It is proven from History, Archaeology as well. The Palestinians of today come from many countries but they can not trace their lineage back to Palestine. Jews however, CAN trace their lineage back to the 12 Tribes of Israel. Israel is another name for Jacob. Jacob was the son of Isaac who was the son of Abraham, the forefathers of the Jews.
The Klinghoffer children are 100% right. The Opera Viewers have no understanding of the context. They only hear about freedom fighters who were thrown from their Land. But the Bible can be rewritten as far as the Librettist is concerned. Take the scene of Hagar and Yishmael. Totally falsified from the account in the Bible. IN THE BIBLE, G-d promises the Land to the descendants of Isaac. Not Ishmael. It says that while Yishmael will be a great Nation, YISHMAEL will not inherit the Land. Only Isaac will!
If the PLF and its ideology would have any control over the opera, every female would have to come in Hi jabs. So if money is coming from Saudi Arabia, in support of the Opera, and they have their way, you can forget about wearing any immodest dress to the Opera. THat will exclude most of the patrons. Also, I am sure it would be improper for women to sing in front of men. Especially immodestly dressed. And of course if you are a Jew or an infidel be it Christian or Hindu or Kurdi or Yazidi, you of course have no right to exist let alone go to the Opera. And all performances will have to go through the Imam who will censor any Opera, before it can be shown. No freedom of expression here! Just go to Saudi Arabia today and see how many Operas are censored from performing. Find out how many Jews attend the Opera. How many Jews for that matter live in Saudi Arabia? How many Jews be it journalist or contractor is permitted to enter the country for that matter. Talk about Freedom of religion.
The Met has only one Opera that people are protesting. The Death of Klinghoffer. That's right Mr. Gelp. Give your roster of Operas to Saudi Arabia and see how many of your Operas they will permit and what will be their terms. And you have the nerve to tell our group that we are against freedom of expression!!!!!
The PLF for sure is against freedom of expression.
Not the Jews! They support Operas and all the cultural centers be it in New York or Vienna or whatever country Jews live!
So, Opera Lovers, if you think what happened to Klinghoffer is not a big deal.... wait till your freedoms are taken away from you.....Sharia Law... misogyny, beheadings, caliphate.....Hitler came into power because of the Silence. The Mufti of Jerusalem, Arafat's mentor and the guiding light of the PLF who murdered Klinghoffer partnered with Hitler. I believe the Gas Chambers were his contribution... Opera lovers, the show here is much more evil and sinister than you think. Please get a copy of the speeches at the protest featuring Mayor Guiliani, Peter King etc. and do some research on your own. The murderers of Klinghoffer were not brought to justice and were free to continue to participate in more acts of terror as free men while Klinghoffer's body lies dead crying from the depths of the ocean.
You will not get an accurate understanding of the Opera unless you understand who the PLF is and what they stand for. And that is not information the Opera wishes you to have let alone internalize.
