Dear Elected Official _________,
Hopefully, you know the history and geography of Israel well enough to know that a ceasefire in Gaza will not bring peace. The Israelis have been on this merry-go-round one time too many to go around again. The Palestinians attack and attack; Israel responds; the Palestinians cry for and get a ceasefire; and they never, never sign a peace treaty which recognizes Israel as a Jewish nation and gives its blessing for Jews to be on the Temple Mount. The only thing they use a ceasefire for is to rearm and attack again.
Hamas is quite open about wanting to annihilate the Jews of Israel; their charter uses the same word as Hitler used: exterminate. When a group works for and prays for the annihilation of a nation, the proportionate response is not to give them humanitarian aid. As Gazans flee south, it looks as if Israel is attacking innocent civilians, but every operative of Hamas has a mother, a father, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, neighbors, and friends, many of whom knew what their relatives were working on. If the Gazans wanted peace, they needed to turn in the Hamas soldiers. They should have done that a long time ago, but they didn't. That is why I do not and will not regard them as innocent victims. Where are the mothers who were supposed to teach their sons right from wrong?
Israel has tried over and over to have peace. There was an earlier war between Israel and Hamas from Dec. 27, 2008 to Jan.18, 2009 (Operation Cast Lead). Israel was called to ceasefire in that war after three weeks. Had Israel been given another three weeks to finish the job, Hamas would have been totally destroyed at that time. But the US and others called Israel off and demanded ceasefire. The obscenity of this is that the USA had been at war in Iraq for 5 years at that time! Had Israel been allowed to complete the job in 2009, the current carnage (on both sides) could have been avoided. This must not be allowed to happen again. The only thing that will bring peace in that area is UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER BY HAMAS.
Of course, it's difficult for a politician to go against 10,000 marchers calling for ceasefire. The problem is that those marchers don't know the history or the geography of Israel and they believe lies. When they chant, "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free," that means no Israel. This is your moment of truth - to not go along with the lies and defamations of Hamas supporters. We are not colonist oppressors. Jews washed up on the shores of the British colony of "Palestine" as victims of a different form of European imperialism, in which our homes, and all our possessions were stolen, and many of our family members were killed. Imagine what would have happened if the local Muslims and the Arab League would have accepted Jewish refugees as co-victims of European imperialism. There would have been peace and prosperity for everyone for 75 years. But they chose war. Haj Amin al-Husseini, the former Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, was a collaborator with Hitler and Nazi Germany and he was the leader of Palestinian nationalism before and immediately after World War II. His ideology guides the ideology of the Palestinian Authority today.
This was and is their choice. Jews are not racists. They are. When Jordan was sovereign in the West Bank, it was a crime punishable by death for an Arab to sell land or a home to a Jew. The Palestinians maintain that policy to this day. Israel built the wall as a response to the PA's second intifada in which 1,000 unarmed Israeli citizens were murdered. After the wall was built, suicide bombings dropped by 50% every year for five years.
Hopefully, you also know that at its widest point, Israel is 50 miles wide, but when the West Bank is cut out of Israel, Israel is 9 miles wide, walking distance for suicide bombers. It's such a tiny area for the Jews to have a national homeland.
This is your moment of truth, Senator. Do not call for a ceasefire. Allow Israel to bring Hamas to unconditional surrender, because that is the only thing that will bring peace to the area.
We're through trying for peace. It's not about an eye for an eye. It's about we simply cannot co-exist with Hamas. End of story. At the end of the day, either Israel will be standing, or Hamas will be standing. Very few people are in the position to facilitate how this will end. You are.
Thank you for taking my point of view into consideration.
