I found Dennis Prager's talk at the David Horowitz Freedom Center's Dinner brilliant in clarifying the difference between liberalism and leftism. Prager claims to be Liberal now as always. Yet now he is branded by leftists as a right wing Conservative.
Liberal values, Prager explained, are values that unites us. For example, we are all part of the human race.
Unfortunately, when something is universal and unites us but fails to highlight a particular race it is then branded by leftists as being racist. For example, "Western Civilization" is now branded as "White Supremacy".
He explained that leftists don't value and therefore aren't interested in preserving their Civilization so therefore they are for open borders.
They don't see a great need to procreate to preserve their Civilization which has lost its meaning and value. They don't typically want many kids.
As an Orthodox Jew I take issue however in Prager designating Mozart or Heyden Symphony as more universal than Adon Olam which he used to epitomize as ethnic Jewish Music of no great universal appeal.
Perhaps Prager is not impressed with the rushed musical rendition of Adon Olam in Synagogue at the end of services when people are anxious for Kiddush which is followed by eating cholent and kugel or some other kind of ethnic Jewish cuisine.
In fact, if he carefully studies the meaning of the words of Adon Olam he will have to admit that it is precisely Adon Olam, a Universal Religious message and prayer, which makes it more inclusive than any secular rendition of an instrumental Symphony be it Beethoven, Mozart or Heyden.
I am simply taking Prager's own final words and conclusion to prove my point.
Religion and G-d is what defines and what makes Civilization worth preserving. Leftists reject religion and G-dliness and therefore reject Western Civilization as well.
Let me add that specifically the 7 Noahide Laws given to all Nations and people of the world is the key to Universal Morality for all Civilization, Western Civilization among them.
