Chizuk for David Friedman

bs"d

You might be interested in reading this post written around the time of the proceedings to confirm his nomination.  AT the time I wrote the post I didn't know that his name was David Melech. I noted the fact that the Jewish King (tthe descendent of David HaMelech) was required to wear a Sefer Torah to constantly remind him of the Mitzvoth as it is very easy to go astray when one is in the position of power and kingship. This reminded him that even as king he is a servant to the One and Only King.

Avinu MalKeinu, Ein Lanu Melech, Ein Lanu Melech Ela Ata....

May Hashem guard David Melech and protect him and may he be a true servant of Hashem.

My comments on Shlomo Walfish facebook page re: Jason Greenblatt.....

Robin Ticker Bsd Again both Jason Greenblatt and Binyamin Netanyahu spoke like us, the most right wing Jews against a Palestinian State before they were the political leaders. What changed? My personal opinion is that once someone becomes a political leader their direction is often heavily contingent on the worthiness of the Nation as a whole. If the Nation is not worthy their hands are tied in spite of their desires or efforts. Perhaps this happens with Ruach Shtut entering their brains and or a powerful Yetzer hara that is not possible to overcome etc. Etc. The key for a leader is to make the hamonei Am worthy of the Geula and this can be done and should be done before one is in an elected position of leadership since he/she is still thinking clearly....Moshe Feiglin and Zehut should take this to heart and try to mobilize the people to protest Amona and Ofra and Neriv Avot and get on board Gedolim baTorah to be metaken the Chait of the Miragim and to encourage hamonei Am to proclaim the Brit the Covenant Hashem promised to Avrohom Yitzchom and Yaakov leZaracha etein et Haaretz hazot wirh the boundaries extending to the Euphrates...

Fwd: A conservative plea for the NEA From Mike Huckabee. A Conservative and Republican with a heart and conscience...

The message you have just received was delivered by Mike Huckabee and includes a message from Huck PAC, his political action committee.

Robin,

Donald Trump wasn't my first choice for president. I was. But he was my second choice, and I'm proud that I supported him. In tackling the federal budget, he faces a debt that has doubled to $20?trillion in the past eight years. No doubt a chainsaw seems more appropriate to the task at hand than a carving knife, but I would urge my president and friend to hold back from one tiny area of the budget whose elimination would cost far more than it would save.

Funding for the National Endowment for the Arts might seem expendable — especially given how often celebrity artists insult and even threaten the president. But such hateful high-dollar Hollywood and music-industry stars don't receive anything from the NEA, and they shouldn't. Not because of their insufferable political whining, but because they get rich selling their talents to the highest bidder in the private sector. I have zero interest in spending a dime of tax money to prop up those who hate the president and the tens of millions who elected him.

I do care greatly about the real recipients of endowment funds: the kids in poverty for whom NEA programs may be their only chance to learn to play an instrument, test-drive their God-given creativity and develop a passion for those things that civilize and humanize us all. They're the reason we should stop and recognize that this line item accounting for just 0.004 percent of the federal budget is not what's breaking the bank.

Participation in the arts leads to higher grade-point averages and SAT scores, as well as improvements in math skills and spatial reasoning. Do we want students who are less likely to drop out of school and more likely to have academic success, particularly in math and science? Music and art deliver, especially for students likely to get lost in an education assembly line that can be more Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall" than about creative thinking and problem solving. Creativity finds cures for diseases, creates companies such as Apple and Microsoft and, above all, makes our culture more livable.

Many children get their only access to music and the arts via grants made by the NEA — 40 percent of which go to high-poverty neighborhoods, while 36 percent reach underserved people, such as veterans and those with disabilities. In fiscal 2016, NEA grants went to nearly 16,000 communities, in every congressional district in the country.

But if the decision is to be made on purely economic grounds, consider the case laid out by advocates Earle I. Mack, Randall Bourscheidt and Robert L. Lynch in a recent op-ed in the Hill: The arts are a $730 billion industry, representing 4.2 percent of our gross domestic product — more than transportation, tourism and agriculture. The nonprofit side of the arts alone generates $135 billion in economic activity, supporting 4.1 million jobs. President Trump rightfully wants to end the U.S. trade imbalance, but the American arts generated a $30?billion trade surplus in 2014, on the strength of $60 billion in exports of various arts goods.

In the past, the NEA largely subsidized individual artists, which essentially placed the government in the role of sponsor of some artists and censor of others. Thanks to reform in the 1990s, however, 40 percent of NEA funds are now channeled directly to states, to be matched and distributed, with the rest going directly to communities, arts councils, arts organizations and select individuals. This has empowered localities to offer real participation to those who otherwise would have no avenue to music or the arts.

I truly want the government to stop wasting my tax money. I want it to stop funding things that don't work and things that get funded only because they are some congressman's pet project or have a powerful lobby behind them. To some, it may seem as though the $147.9 million allocated to the NEA in fiscal 2016 is money to be saved. But to someone such as me — for whom an early interest in music and the arts became a lifeline to an education and academic success — this money is not expendable, extracurricular or extraneous. It is essential.

If it seems unusual that a conservative Republican would advocate for music and the arts, don't be so surprised. The largest increase in arts funding ever came under President Richard Nixon, and when budget hawks thought about cutting the minuscule funding of the NEA in the 1980s, it was no less than President Ronald Reagan who stepped in to make sure those in our poorest neighborhoods continued to have access to this road to academic success and meaningful way to express their creative gifts.

I'm for cutting waste and killing worthless programs. I'm not for cutting and killing the hope and help that come from creativity.

Sincerely,

Mike Huckabee

The Future

By Mike Huckabee

Democrats obviously never saw Hillary's loss coming, and here's another thing that might blindside them, considering all their high-horse rhetoric about being "on the right side of history" and "demographics as destiny" assuring their rise to power forever and ever, since minorities and young people will always be liberal.

World War II and the Depression created the largest generation of conservatives in US history. They created the Post-War boom, and years of peace and plenty produced several liberal generations who came to power in the '90s. Their policies gave us the economic woes, crushing debt, bloated government, reduced freedom, hostile identity politics, diminished job opportunities and national security problems that the current youngest generation (dubbed Generation Z) has grown up with. They are now 70 million strong, and some just voted for the first time in 2016. Several studies have recently been published of the political views of this youngest generation in the US and UK, and liberals might want to sit down or take a hit of "medicinal" pot before reading further.

Eight out of 10 member of Generation Z identify themselves as "fiscally conservative" and prefer saving money to spending. In the UK, nearly 60 percent rated their views on transgender rights, same-sex marriage and legalized marijuana as "conservative" or "moderate," compared to 83% of Millennials who are "quite liberal" or "very liberal" on those issues. Just like the Greatest Generation, the members of Generation Z are reacting to being brought up in tougher times by getting tougher, more pragmatic and more conservative. Heck, they're even 10 times more likely than Millennials to reject tattoos and body piercings!

Read more at the link. This could provide ultimate proof of the enduring power of the bad example. Of course, it could also partly reflect the fact that conservative parents are more likely to have children than to abort them. If you want a real lesson in how "demographics is destiny," here's one: The future belongs to those who actually produce the next generation.

History Repeating Itself

By Mike Huckabee

It's hard for me to believe that shopping for shoes online is that popular (how do you buy shoes without trying them on to see if they hurt your feet?) or that any store named "Payless" wouldn't be a success. But Payless Shoes is reportedly preparing to file for bankruptcy protection and close several hundred stores while it reorganizes. Meanwhile, the corporate owner of Sears and Kmart issued an annual report listing $4.2 billion in debt and no annual profit since 2010 and expressing "substantial doubt" about their "ability to continue as a going concern."

It's a big concern that so many retail jobs are going, all right, but the big unanswered question is what to do about it. Sears became a giant because its revolutionary mail order catalogs made it possible for Americans to shop from home and not have to take the horse and buggy to buy supplies. That put a lot of mom and pop general stores out of business. Ironically, the Internet is now doing the same thing to Sears. This is the retail equivalent of robots replacing factory jobs. Fighting both is like trying to stop evolution. Unless Americans suddenly rediscover the joys of shopping in person, it might not be long before big box stores and malls join the horse and buggy in the history books.

Fwd: Call These Democrat Senators to confirm Judge Neil Gorsuch from Mike Huckabee March 22, 2017

Bsd

I am posting this even though I personally have not researched the matter because I greatly admire Mike Huckabee and trust his judgement that this is an important confirmation.

HuckPAC - Electing Conservatives Nationwide

March 2017

Robin,

Since Monday, 241 Huck PAC supporters have placed over 2,200 calls in support of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Senate offices of Democrats on the Judiciary Committee.  If you haven't done so yet, or feel able to call again please do so today using the information below.

After you make your calls, please go to HuckPAC.com/ConfirmGorsuchCalls to let us know which offices you called. Our goal this week is to place 10,000 calls in support of Judge Gorsuch.

Thank you for your time and efforts!

Sincerely,

Mike Huckabee

P.S.  The phone numbers of the Democrat Senators are below.

--------------

Robin,

This week Judge Neil Gorsuch, President Trump's pick for the Supreme Court, will face questions from the Senate Judiciary Committee. My hope is that during this process, Huck PAC supporters of Judge Gorsuch will call and leave messages of support for Judge Gorsuch with Democrat Senators who are on the Judiciary Committee.

Judge Gorsuch is an accomplished, conservative judge who will need an outpouring of grassroots support to receive full confirmation from the U.S. Senate. Remember 60 votes are needed to overcome the expected Democrat filibuster of his nomination!

And Senate Democrats are already threatening to defeat Judge Gorsuch because they know what a great victory it will be for life and liberty if he is confirmed.

For the unborn, religious freedom, our second amendment rights - the stakes have never been higher. We must act NOW!

The Judiciary Committee Democrats are:

Senator Dianne Feinstein (CA) CALL: (202) 224-3841

Senator Patrick Leahy (VT) CALL: (202) 224-4242

Senator Dick Durbin (IL) CALL: (202) 224-2152

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (RI) CALL: (202) 224-2921

Senator Amy Klobuchar (MN) CALL: (202) 224-3244

Senator Al Franken (MN) CALL: (202) 224-5641

Senator Christopher Coons (DE) CALL: (202) 224-5042

Senator Richard Blumenthal (CT) CALL: (202) 224-2823

Senator Mazie Hirono (HI) CALL: (202) 224-6361

After you place your calls, please go here to let me know who you called:

HuckPAC/ConfirmGorsuchCalls

We are tracking how many calls we place to each office. In total, I am hoping 10,000 calls are placed this week.

Thank you for your continued support of Judge Gorsuch.

Sincerely,

Mike Huckabee

Fwd: Delay, delay, delay on Gorsuch. Mike Huckabee newsletter March 22, 2017

Bsd

Typical of the left's strategy to stifle dissent to their agenda or allowing a different narrative to be heard or the opportunity of others with an agenda other then their own to be appointed or be in a leadership position all under the guise of "freedom of expression", "pro choice" etc.. No opposition or beaurocracy from them as long as your expression meets their approval and your choice agrees with their choice.... They are totalitarians masquerading under an umbrella of acceptance and diversity...

They are weeds masquerading as flowers...

The message you have just received was delivered by Mike Huckabee and includes a message from Huck PAC, his political action committee.

Robin,

Democrats are very unlikely to stop Senate confirmation of Judge Neil Gorsuch for the Supreme Court, but there is no limit to what they'll try to slow it down.

Here's the "delay, delay, delay" strategy put forward by Chuck Shumer, Richard Blumenthal and others:

1) Paint the investigation of alleged collaboration between Russia and the Trump campaign (for which there is no evidence at all) as a "big gray cloud" hanging over the presidency.

2) Use that accusation (for which there is no evidence at all) to hold up Gorsuch's confirmation.

3) Characterize attempts to move forward at all on filling the vacant seat as "rushing" and "unseemly."

4) Lather, rinse, repeat.

That's it. If you naively accept this strategy as non-political, consider that other organizations have joined in the effort to delay, including NARAL Pro-Choice America. "Choice," in this context, refers only to the option of terminating life, not to the new President's ability to choose the next Supreme Court nominee. On that, they are definitely anti-choice. The irony here is that in the eyes of Judge Gorsuch, those two issues should have nothing to do with each other.

Sincerely,

Mike Huckabee

Meals On Wheels Nonsense

By Mike Huckabee

The latest round of fake news burning up the Internet originated, as is often the case, with a tweet from CNN. Jake Tapper tweeted that the Trump budget would eliminate the "$3 billion Community Development Block Grant program, which funds programs like Meals on Wheels." So immediately, the story became "Trump wants to do away with Meals on Wheels and starve old people to death!"

Well, cool your jets. No, the Trump budget (which, remember, is only a proposal) does NOT eliminate Meals on Wheels. It would eliminate one program (the CDBG) that provides only a tiny amount of the federal funding for Meals on Wheels (most comes from the Older Americans Act, and any cuts elsewhere could be replaced by OAA). Meanwhile, here's a report listing some of the ridiculous rat holes of cronyism and graft to which most of the CDBG budget goes:

http://reason.com/blog/2017/03/16/the-community-development-block-grant-pr

But at least the false report that Meals on Wheels might lose its federal funding resulted in an immediate spike in donations and volunteers for the program. Wait, so you mean Americans will help a worthy cause themselves? We don't have to be forced to pay taxes, then have a big piece of our money wasted on bureaucracy and graft before a small amount gets to where it will do any good? Individuals, churches and local governments can just help out directly without Washington getting involved? Why didn't someone think of this before?! Finally, CNN's fake news actually teaches its viewers something useful.

We know surveillance happened

By Mike Huckabee

No evidence that surveillance was carried out on the Trump campaign? Well, as Rand Paul sees it, we already know this was done. Here's the logic: If Michael Flynn was surveilled (he was), and Michael Flynn was part of the Trump campaign (he was), then spies had their ears on the Trump campaign. While the language in Trump's tweet was imprecise, his essential claim is already proven true. This is so simple, even Nancy Pelosi should be able to understand it.

Remember when James Clapper said intelligence may have been gathered "unwittingly" on American citizens? We know he misled Congress on this point. I wonder –- if they try to say now that they "unwittingly" scooped up Michael Flynn in some other investigation, will they also expect us to believe that the unmasking and illegal leaking of his name by someone with high-level security clearance were done "unwittingly" as well?
