powered by admail

Dear Ms. Ticker (Sir/Madam),

I am responding to your note of concern regarding reports of "PLO flags" displayed at our hotel during the last two days of May.

Firstly, let me say directly that I am very sensitive to the concerns of our guests, and that I, too, felt uncomfortable when asked, even by the Israeli government, to fly the colors of the Palestinian Authority at the hotel.

But that is exactly what happened. The Israel Minister of Public Security Avi Dicter chose the Inbal Jerusalem Hotel to be the venue for the International Security Forum, a conference on "Challenges to Homeland Security", of which MK Avi Dicter was the chairman.

US Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertkoff and a dozen other internal security ministers from Europe and beyond were invited and Minister Dicter also invited the Palestinian Minister of Interior.

We were instructed by the Israel Ministry of Public Security and the organizing committee to fly the flags of all those participating in the conference, including that of the Palestinian Authority.

While not meaning to add to anybody's distress, I think it important for me to mention that other prominent hotels are often asked by the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs to host Israel-Palestinian negotiating sessions. Sometimes this also involves flags.

I can assure you that I, as the General Manager of the hotel had no intent of making a political statement and have no desire of doing so in the future.

I would like to apologize for placing the flag on the building. I have now since learnt how sensitive this issue is to the feelings of our nation and our people, but I believe I had no choice but to follow the request of the Ministry.

Yours sincerely,

Rodney Sanders

General Manager

Subject: Inbal raises the Palestinian Flag

 bs"d

To the Owners and Managers of the Inbal Hotel that have the Palestinian Flag represented in their Hotel,

 Dear Sirs,

Why not open up an Inbal Hotel chain in the Arab countries like Syria and Iran who also support a Palestinian State.  I imagine you would expect them to be as fair minded as the Inbal in Jerusalem and would allow you to display an Israeli Flag in their countries.

Now that the Gaza is completely under Arab Sovereignty and it's population is as similar to a Palestinian State as you can get, open up an Inbal in Gaza and proudly display an Israeli flag.   I imagine that their reaction would be far more progressive than ours and you wouldn't be bothered by nuisance letter writers complaining to you expressing deepest disappointment in your choice of flags you wish to display.

They of course are much more civilized and open minded. They owe you one.  I suppose all the money you amassed by promoting their flag will be helpful to you as well.  Their local population will be much more tolerant of the Israeli Flag cause they will remember your kindness to them and to their cause.  How very kind, benevolent and generous of you.

Sincerely, Robin Ticker, someone that will choose a Hotel other than the Inbal when I come to Jerusalem.

Izzy Kaplan responds:

Dear List

Please see copy of letter sent to the manager of the Inbal Hotel.   I just received a call on my cell phone from Mr. Sanders

who out of courtesy (perhaps necessity) called me to explain the progression of events that led up to the erecting of the PLO flag with all the many other friendly and democratic countries.

Avi Dichter of Homeland Security in Israel invited many countries to attend this seminar at the Inbal Hotel and requested that the PLO flag be included.   The Hotel had reservations but when they questioned the Minister regarding having the PLO flag, according to Mr. Sanders, the Hotel was not left with a choice since after all the seminar is about security.  The wisdom of the hotel or the minister is not to be questioned according to Mr. Sanders since the hotel is open to all nations and all peoples be they white, black, orthodox, conservative, reform, gay, lesbian, etc.
Without inhibitions, I let him have it between the eyes and without apology.   What I tried to impart to him is that the PLO is not included in your list of human beings.   The PLO are murderers.  Had the PLO been responsible for killing you wife and children and the husbands and wives of 20 of your hotel staff, chances are that the flag would not be waving in front of your hotel.   I continued to explain to him that what I expect from segments of the economic society in Israel is to be able to stand up under the pressures of a government who have totally lost their way and who continue to provide humanitarian aid to the head of the PA as they continue to kill my families in Israel and are proud of it.   I said much more which made Mr. Sanders extremely agitated to the point where he could no longer hold himself back and as all CEO's and heads of organizations say.   I called you to explain our position and not to get into a political discussion out of respect and it appears that you are taking this to another level.    I cut him off and quietly said that the govt. and the left in Israel continue to express in the press that leaving Gaza has nothing at all to do with the rockets raining down on Sderot, Ashkelon and Southern Gaza.   So Mr. Sanders what you are saying to me that the PA flag on our front lawn next to the Israeli flag obviously has nothing to do with dead Jews.   I ended the conversation by wishing him well and saying goodbye.

I am not paranoid but just maybe just maybe the shabak was listening to how he handled this call.    It is quite regrettable that we are in this very low place today where our fellow Jews have become used to everyday terror and cannot discern between right and wrong.   It is as well quite well established that in perhaps too many circles in Israel today that one becomes sensitive about his brothers orphaned children only when he becomes an orphan himself.

I encourage you to write letters to Mr. Sanders if you feel so inclined

Dear Mr. Sanders

It has been brought to our attention that the Inbal Hotel has been convinced that flying the PLO flag is appropriate for the convention taking place in your facility.   I would assume that the management has been put into this very difficult position by such powers that have given you no alternatives since most of the world is well aware that in fact the PA are terrorists and continue to speak out openly to destroy Israel.    However, since your hotel has come to this decision and it will obviously cause embarrasement to the many loyal patrons that you have catered to for so many years, we are forced to send email blasts throughout the US & Canada suggesting that letters of concern to your hotel be sent.

I am sure that when your hotel management made this decision to raise the PA flag they well understood that it could have negative effects.   Well, I guess then you won't be surprised when you begin to receive negative feedback.

How unfortunate for all of us.

Sincerely

Izzy Kaplan

Shame on you for having the audacity to fly the flag of the enemy. How
many of your brothers and sisters have been killed by this flag your

2. Ruth Matar of Women in Green reacts to Obama's forked tongue.

BEWARE OF HE WHO SPEAKS WITH A FORKED TONGUE

Letter from Ruth Matar (Women in Green) Jerusalem
Thursday, June 12, 2008

Dear Friends,

I think that I should start with the definition of "speaking with a forked tongue," according to Cambridge International Dictionary of Idioms, Cambridge University Press 1998:  "to make false promises or to speak in a way which is not honest."

This definition fits Barack Obama to a "T".

On Wednesday, June 4, Obama pledged to a meeting of the powerful Washington lobby American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) his "unshakeable commitment to Israel's security" if he is elected president.  "Israel's security is sacrosanct. It is non-negotiable… any agreement with the Palestinian people must preserve Israel's identity as a Jewish state, with secure, recognized, and defensible borders. Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel and it must remain undivided," Obama declared to enthusiastic applause from the 7000-plus attendees at the AIPAC policy conference.

Already on the very next day, Thursday, June 5, Obama completely changed his tune because of Arab opposition to his declaration of support for a united Jerusalem.

Without shame, Obama then hides behind his so-called "campaign advisors" to "clarify" his real thoughts:

"Jerusalem might also serve as the capital of a Palestinian state, or there might be Palestinian sovereignty over Arab neighborhoods…Well, obviously it's going to be up to the parties to negotiate a range of these issues. And Jerusalem will be a part of those negotiations… As a practical matter, it would be very difficult to execute [a policy of the capital remaining undivided.]"

In other words, Obama's speech to AIPAC is a prime example of his great skill in speaking with a forked tongue!

I am including here some of Obama's quotes from books that he wrote. I am grateful to my friend Sandy Martin for sending these revealing quotes to me. She points out that Barack Obama wants to be our President and control our government. She asks us to pay close attention to his last comment, which is certainly both revealing and frightening.

                             *In Obama's own words.......

*/From Dreams of My Father/: "I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites." (Obama was born to a white American mother and a black Kenyan father.)

*/From Dreams of My Father/: "I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race."

*/From Dreams of My Father/: "There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe."

*/From Dreams of My Father/: "It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names."

*/From Dreams of My Father/: "I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself, _the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela_."

* /From Audacity of Hope/: "I WILL STAND WITH THE MUSLIMS SHOULD THE POLITICAL WINDS SHIFT IN AN UGLY DIRECTION."
[RM: An extraordinarily frightening comment by a person who aspires to be president of the United States!]

Barack Hussein Muhammad Obama is certainly not a friend of the Jews or Israel. G-d forbid that Obama's skill at speaking with a forked tongue should propel him into the presidency of Israel's long time ally and friend, the United States.

If you are a lover of Israel, please do not be tempted to let Barack Obama's charismatic speeches influence you. It is important that you listen carefully to what he says today! Then listen even more carefully to what he says tomorrow on the same subject! Most importantly, pay careful attention to what he says just before you pull the lever in November.

With Blessings and Love for Israel,

Ruth Matar

2. Can the Jews in Judea and Samaria and Golan protest the Silence of the Major Jewish Organizations in a public forum like Arutz7

Let Women in Green, Mattot Arim, Sanhedrin, Manhigut Yehudit, Achai, Tsafrir Ronen, Rabbinical Congress for Peace, Hebron and Yishuvim in Judea, Yishuvim in the Shomron, Former Gush Katif residents, Benny Elon, Eldad,  SOS etc etc. etc.  unite and speak up for a New USA/Israel Foreign Policy based on G-d's Covenant with the Jewish People. Let these leaders  from Judea and Samaria and the Golan ask in a public forum such as A7, why the Moetzet Gedolei Hatorah, the OU, the Young Israel, Chabad International  have been silent when 9000 holy Jews were made refugees by their fellow Jews in Gush Katif.   These mainstream Jewish Organizations  in America whose spiritual direction are Gedoilim in Eretz Yisroel, need to  admit their Sin of Silence and resolve that now they will speak up before the Jews in the Golan, Judea and Samaria are threatened and made into refugees and/or left defenseless and harassed.

Our Torah is our rock and our salvation.

What's the point of learning Choshen Mishpat and all the other Gemaras that have to do with Property Rights when such blatant violations by Jews are taking place and there is a collective Silence.  The Israeli gov't have stolen the property and Parnassa of thousands of Jews.  If left unchecked the figure will increase exponentially Chas Veshalom with the expulsion of Jews from Judea and Samaria and the Golan.

Let us speak up like Rev. James Hutchens, Chaplain and Brigadier General of the U.S. Army (Ret.) and chairman of the Jerusalem Connection, Richard Hellman of CIPAC (Christians' Israel Public Action Campaign), Rev. James Vineyand, whose Oklahoma City church has 3,500 members and Rev. David Welch, who heads up a group of pastors in the Texas region.

Toward A New US/Israel Policy

Herbert Zweibon

A "Resolution regarding Israel from Pro-Israel Christian Leaders" signed by over a thousand Christian leaders and urging a new U.S. policy toward Israel is being submitted to Senator John McCain with a request for a meeting with the candidate. AFSI has been working on this project with Rev.

To give an idea of the wide geographic range of supportive churches, among those who have signed on are the pastors of the Bible Baptist Church in Fairbanks Arkansas with 525 members, the Northwest Baptist Church in Toledo, Ohio, with 700 members and the Clays Mill Road Baptist Church in Lexington, Kentucky with 2,000 members.

The resolution reads:

WHEREAS, Christian Zionism supports the modern State of Israel as a partial fulfillment of God's covenant promise to provide a national homeland for the Jewish people in anticipation of their ultimate redemption when Messiah comes; and

WHEREAS, These God-decreed covenants have an everlasting validity and relevance for the modern State of Israel; and

WHEREAS, The legal validity of the modern State of Israel has been established by international law in the Balfour Declaration of November 1917, and the British Mandate formalized at the League of Nations in July 1922, the United Nations partition resolution of 1947, the official recognition of the State of Israel by the United States in May of 1948 and Israel's admission to the United Nations in 1949; and

WHEREAS, Since its birth as a nation Israel has been under relentless attack by Arabs and Palestinians whose goal is not peace with Israel but its total annihilation; and

WHEREAS, The various peace proposals advanced by the United States, including the administration's "Land for Peace" to be implemented by a "Two-State Solution," have been historically and factually verifiable failures; and

WHEREAS, These failures have been a result of a dysfunctional denial of the stated goals of Palestinian Jihadists and other Iran sponsored terrorist groups such as Hezbollah to destroy Israel, including the continuing efforts to appease Israel's enemies by requiring Israel to give up land for peace; and

WHEREAS, There can be no realistic expectation of regional peace until Palestinian Jihadists are defeated, disarmed and their terrorist infrastructure dismantled; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the administration's "Road Map to Peace" with its "Land for Peace" and "Two-State Solution" be deemed unworkable and allowed to lapse; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a serious and engaged consideration be given to a new US/Israel policy that would be comprehensive and practical in dealing with the realities on the ground as well as honoring of God's covenant promises to Israel. (e.g. Please see "The Israeli Initiative").

Submitted by Petitioners, coordinated by Jerusalem Connection.

Like a bird that repetitively bangs against a glass window, administrations for the last forty years have stubbornly pursued the same failed and bound-to-fail policy of "retreat-for-peace." For a core constituency to confront a Presidential candidate with a challenge to the folly that is "received wisdom" is a vitally important first step.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Let's Get Real!

Prof. Paul Eidelberg

What Justifies the Jewish Claim to the Land of Israel?

The Balfour Declaration?

The Mandate of the League of Nations (or San Remo Conference) that
affirmed Balfour?

The Holocaust?

The United Nations Resolution of November 1947?

Historical rights?  Natural rights?  Human rights?

The Arabs say "No" to all of the above, and any good international
lawyer or political scientist could make a case for them-which is not
to say the Arabs have a better claim than the Jews.

So let us add "God" or God's Covenant with the Patriarchs to justify
the Jewish claim to the Land of Israel.  Obviously, the Arabs reject
this claim in the name of Allah.

This being the case, or since no claim to the Land of Israel is
self-evident-like the whole is greater than any of its parts-it comes
down to a question of power.

Yes, I know there is a legal axiom that possession is nine-tenths of
the law.   Thus, when Israel regained possession of Judea, Samaria,
Gaza, the Golan Heights, and the Sinai, Israel's government might
have said to Israel's enemies: "Tough, fellows, you lost.  Better
luck next time. End of Story."

For once you engage in peace talk with the Arab, you have lost the war.

So let's downplay the legalisms, the histories, and the pieties.  If
Israel can't muster the will and the power to enforce its claim to
the Land of Israel, it will lose this land.  But to strengthen its
will and magnify as well as exert its power, Israel will need very
different kinds of leaders and very different kinds of institutions.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is not going to happen until Israel
raises up a leader whose fear of God is greater than his fear of
Washington, or whose love and awed-admiration of his people's
heritage is greater than his concern about Israel's reputation as a
democracy.  Period.

2. Rav Mordechai Eliyahu Shlita "I Was Up There..."

After an hour and 40 minutes of unconsciousness and undergoing
resuscitation, the first words HaRav Mordechai Eliyahu Shlita, said
upon waking up , "I was up there and returned to this world."

When the Rav woke up after head surgery, the Rav cried out loud "The
decree has been annulled." In another instance, when he was half
conscious, he revealed, "I'm in middle of being judged."

Professor Doctor Cohen, the Rav's doctor, said the following, "I
didn't believe we'll succeed. I felt as if a Malach  (angel) from
Shamayim performed the operation together with me. It is not possible
that a person that went through 2 heart attacks and head surgery will
remain alive even one minute.

I'll not be reporting this specific medical report because they will
say I'm lying. It is not natural; an angel was protecting him. I
believe there is Go.d."

A nurse who witnessed the miraculous turn of events said, "I didn't
know beforehand who this Rav is. But we all understand that what
transpired is a true miracle. This Rav is a Tzaddik and Shamayim
(heaven) helped him. Otherwise, I cannot begin to understand how he
stayed alive after all that he went through this month.

Medically, it does not make sense."

HaRav Shmuel Zafrani, Rav Mordechai Eliyahu's personal assistant,
added, "Two secular doctors that treated the Rav and witnessed this
great miracle are very seriously considering doing Teshuva. "

In a very short conversation, the Rav said the following about
Shavuot, "We must increase learning Torah, respecting Shamayim and
completely repent. A Jew that is suffering should pray by Kever
Tzaddikim and say, "Master of the Universe, in the merit of the
Tzaddik, accept my prayers.' One has to be extremely careful not to
pray to the Tzaddik, only to HKB'H (G-d) and ask HaShem to save him
in the merit of the Tzaddik. Also, we must increase in charity and
not be rude when giving charity."

The Rav also emphasized, "HKB'H wants us to authentically regret our
bad behavior and this should come directly from the heart. The
strength of Am Israel is learning the Torah and loving one another.
When Jews live in a land without Torah and unity, all the terrible
decrees arrive."

3. 29 Year Old Israeli Woman Jailed For Ideological Dissent Please Help Imprisoned Rivka Meirchik

KFAR SABA -- An Israeli judge has sent a Jewish dissident back to jail for another month after deeming the defendant's refusal to cooperate with the authorities an ideological crime.
Rivka Meirchik, 29, who was arrested two months ago, is being held until the end of judicial proceedings. She has refused to cooperate with authorities. Her next hearing is scheduled for June 19.
Ms. Meirchik was arrested on April 2 in the Jewish community of Shvut Ami in the northern West Bank after police ordered all Jews evacuated from the area. Meirchik was charged with trespassing, assaulting a police office and disobeying military orders after the area was proclaimed a closed military zone. For her part, she said that she was beaten by police. She has since been held in the Neve Tirza prison.
Meirchik was brought to court appearances manacled and on April 14, Kfar Saba Magistrate Nava Bechor ordered her held in leg-irons and handcuffs throughout the hearing. Border policeman Nasid Sayad (an Arab) testified that Meirchik had assaulted him and resisted arrest while she was sitting on the ground.
Sayad, who said he bent down to touch Meirchik's bag, first said Meirchik bit him when she was sitting down and later testified that Meirchik also slapped him.
Her lawyer asked Sayad to demonstrate how a police office, over one meter tall, with a second police officer at his side, was slapped and bitten by a very slight young woman in a sitting position. Sayad refused to cooperate with the defense's request.
Visoli said he will appeal to the Supreme Court to have Meirchik released immediately. He said that it isn't a crime in Israeli law not to recognize the authority of the court.
"It's shocking," Visoli said. "Her incarceration is illegal and so is keeping her in custody until the end of proceedings."

4. Palestinian Flags at the Inbal Hotel in Jerusalem

 From: Yonatan Adler

Subject: PLO Flags at the Inbal Hotel in Jerusalem

The Jerusalem Inbal Hotel and... the
Palestine Liberation Organization?!?!

Last Friday, as I drove by the Inbal hotel in
Jerusalem on my way home from Friday errands, I noticed a number of large banner-flags hanging along the facade of the Inbal. There were flags from various countries - the United States, England, Germany, Spain, and... Palestine!!

I couldn't believe what I was looking at - a huge PLO flag draped on the front of the Inbal hotel in the heart of
Jerusalem!

When I arrived home, I immediately called the Inbal hotel to ask why they had a PLO flag draped across the front of their hotel. The answer that I received was that the hotel was hosting a conference, and that the organizers had requested that the PLO flag be displayed together with the national flags of various countries.

I promptly returned to the hotel in order to meet with the general-manager of the Inbal, Mr. Rodney Sanders to inquire why an Israeli hotel in the heart of
Jerusalem would think to fly a huge PLO banner. Mr. Sanders presented the same laconic reply as I had received on the phone.

Upon leaving the hotel, I found more PLO flags displayed in the lobby, which I photographed (see attached photo - please note the Inbal insignia in the background).

http://www.myrightword.blogspot.com/

At this point, the security in the lobby quickly escorted me outside, and I was unable to photograph the banner outside.

I believe that the Inbal hotel should be taken to task for this provocative behavior. The general-manager of the hotel, Mr. Rodney Sanders may be contacted at the following ema

Bulletin
May 25, 2008
Palestinian Media Watch

Fatah and Hamas use identical symbols

to teach children hatred of Israel

by Itamar Marcus and Barbara Crook

Teaching children that all of Israel is occupied "Palestine" is a backbone of Palestinian Authority education for both Fatah and Hamas.

Both Hamas and Fatah recently broadcast TV programs featuring children with giant keys hanging from their necks, and  names of Israeli cities written on the keys. The key, a symbol of ownership, is a prominent Palestinian symbol indicating their claim of ownership over all Israeli cities and all of Israel. It also represents their demand that residents of refugee camps be settled in these Israeli cities.

The Fatah children's keys include the names of Israeli cities Haifa, Ramla, Acre, Jaffa, Beer Sheva.
The Hamas children's keys include the names of Israeli cities Haifa, Ramla, Acre,
Beit Shean, Jerusalem.

Fwd: unbelivable Obama video

bs"d

I believe that G-d has given us a choice.  That choice is Obama or Huckabee.   Obama is evil and Huckabee is a mentch, a G-d fearing man.  Use your clout to convince McCain to put Huckabee as his running mate.  At the Aipac Convention McCain clearly feels that we have a peace partner with Fatah.  We know that Fatah and Hamas are synonymous.  Only Huckabee will speak out for G-d's Covenant with the Jewish People and that Israel is the Land of our Ancestors, our forefathers,  and that G-d gave Israel to the Jewish People.  Huckabee is a courageous man that speaks out against a 2 State Solution or rather he said let it be in Saudi Arabia.

Even if McCain is chosen over Obama, People must lobby McCain to recognize that Oslo and the 2 State Solution is a dismal failure.  America  must cut it's losses and start over with a New USA/ISRAEL Foreign Policy that is based on G-d's Covenant, G-d's Promise to the Jewish People.  We must reject the 2 State solution for the sake of freedom and democracy and truth.  Huckabee has the right idea.  Israel must be allowed and encouraged to defend it rightful borders.  The gov't of Israel does not represent the Jewish people and therefore the Jewish people have no obligation to support the policies of the gov't of Israel which include Land for "Peace".  Such a statement from the National Mainstream Orthodox Jewish Organizations such as Agudath Yisroel of America, the OU and the National Council of Young Israel as well as Chabad Headquarters, supported by right wing political parties and spiritual leaders in Israel  will have a tremendous effect on American Foreign Policy.

And even if one argues that we are powerless, we are still obligated to speak up for Torah and put our faith in the Almighty that  He will save us from our enemies and fight our battles.  But we are not allowed to sit by and expect miracles from G-d when we refuse to do our Hishtadlus..

1. Pidyon Shvuyim. Demonstration Rivka Meyerchik

Prisoner of Zion in Zion

Tomorrow Thursday, June 5th 2008, at 2:30pm there will be a demonstration at the Shalom Court in Kfar Saba (Tchernechovsky street) to demand the immediate release of Rivka Meyerchik, innocent of any crime, who was arrested at the outpost of Shvut Ami and is in prison for the past two months in the neve Tirza prison.

The justice system, the police and the prison authorities are abusing and persecuting this young womanfor her refusal to recognize the authority of the justice system.

Her  basic human rights are trampled and non-existant.

When brought to court  she is taken out of her cell hand and leg cuffed and she is not allowed to talk to family nor lawyers.

All human rights groups and all lovers of Israel are called to come and protest this grave travesty of justice done against a young Jewish woman in Israel only because she represents those who love the land of Israel.

 2. Chazon David outpost rebuilt for the 33rd time

As we told you, On the eve of the liberation date of Hebron, 29th of Iyar, the IDF has destroyed the Chazon David outpost for the 33rd time.

This time, because of the IDF's lack of sensitivity, destroying the outpost on the day Hebron was liberated, the residents of Kiryat Arba – Hebron decided to rebuild the Chazon David synagogue and make it much bigger. With nightfall, with presence of Rabbi Dov Lior and head of the Kiryat Arba council Tzvi Katzover, a truck unloaded building materials. Throughout mincha and ma'ariv, the afternoon and evening prayers, the sounds of hammers could be heard mingling with the cantor's voice.

After just a few hours, a new synagogue was raised, bearing a massive Star of David.

The elation the builders just intensified when we heard from a trusted source – that Olmert told Condoleezza that "We have taken down four outposts", only to have her tell him that "No, you have taken down only three. Chazon David has been rebuilt".

A drive has been organized, in which every citizens will be able to buy blocks in order to rebuild the outpost, hopefully boasting not only a synagogue but also a neighborhood center.

WHY ISRAEL NEEDS RAPID RESPONSE TEAMS
By: Helen Freedman

Israel is reputed to have one of the best armies in the world. The army, navy, and air force of the IDF have been victorious over and over again in so many miraculous defensive wars. Noting that, one would ask why it is necessary for Israel to have rapid response teams made up of members of the individual communities in which they live. The answer is supplied by an IDF spokesperson, Rabbi Moshe Hager-Lau, a reserve colonel who serves as assistant division commander for reserve forces in Judea and Samaria . He says, "It takes at least ten minutes for the IDF to respond when an infiltration incident occurs. An armed terrorist can kill a whole lot of people in ten minutes."
What happens in the time it takes for the IDF to appear on the scene of a terrorist attack? If the community is lucky, and the men have been trained by Mishmeret Yesha's crack trainers, the rapid response team drawn from the residents of the community will identify the terrorists and subdue them. In situations where such teams don't exist, horrific murders have taken place.
It has been my privilege to enlist the services of Israel Danziger as a tour guide for the Chizuk (encouragement) missions conducted semi-annually by Americans For a Safe Israel (AFSI). I and the members of the group are continuously amazed at the depth of Danziger's knowledge about the land of Israel . Wherever we travel, he knows the hills, the communities, the farms, the vineyards, the people, and the trees. Mishmeret Yesha  and their groups have planted thousands  of these trees and vineyards. It is his conviction that this is one way of holding onto the land of Israel . We've stopped at some of the rocky hillside areas that Danziger has found for us, and with rudimentary tools, we've dug away at the hard soil, planting our saplings. We've also admired the huge fields of vineyards planted by Mishmeret Yesha. We look forward to drinking the wine from those grapes, and seeing it exported to the U.S.
Danziger has also taken us to the "factory" in Beth-El where he personally has designed the bullet-proof vests that are provided to the reservists called to active duty. His expert workers – six work full-time – carefully cut out the patterns and sew up the vests which contain pockets and belts and loops of all kinds, anticipating the needs of the soldiers. Of course, there is a sleeve for the bullet-proof shield.
When Danziger took us to the target practice field where the 12 man team from Yitzhar was being trained, I was moved to tears. Here were Jews practicing with the M-16 rifles supplied by the IDF, so that they could protect the lives of their families and friends. Their instructors were driving them hard, and they were training hard. Life and death matters were at hand, and they were taking it all very seriously.
The MIshmeret Yesha training is primarily for the threatened communities in Judea , Samaria , Hebron hills, and the former Gush Katif. Here there are communities that are small and largely unprotected by the IDF. Over 100 settlements like Shavei Shomron, Kfar Tapuach, Adei Ad, Shvut Rahel, Bat Ayin, Yitzhar, Itamar, Otniel, Esh Kodesh, Sde Boaz and more, are forced to deal with the constant threats from Arab terrorism that confront them daily.
Today, as a result of terrorist infiltrations into yeshivas throughout Israel, such as the Mekor Haim high-school yeshiva in Kibbutz Kfar Etzion, in Atzmona (before it was destroyed), in Otniel ,and at Jerusalem's Mercaz Harav Yeshiva on March 6, 2008, where eight students were murdered and nine were seriously wounded,  Mishmeret Yesha has been called upon to train rapid response teams in the schools. The organization is ready to do this, but there is one stipulation. There cannot be any Arabs working in the schools – or for that matter in any of the communities – in which training will be supplied. There is the belief that Arabs will either participate in terrorist attacks themselves, as in the case of the Arab driver who worked for the Jerusalem Yeshiva, or they will supply information to others, thereby enabling successful attacks.
Another outgrowth of the success of Mishmeret Yesha is a plan to arm young men who have completed their army work with M-16's and handguns in order to neutralize terrorists who infiltrate urban facilities. This would be in addition to the guards who are typically posted at all urban public buildings and businesses.
My question to Israel Danziger is, "Who pays for all of this?" How can enough money possibly be raised to cover the expenses of the training, the vests, the night vision scopes, the communications equipment, the tree plantings, and all the many activities in which the organization is engaged? It costs $18,000 a year just to train one 12 man team. Mishmeret Yesha now trains 30 teams, at a cost of over half a million dollars. That doesn't include all the other costs, and the demand for more training, more equipment, is increasing.
Organizations like Friends of the IDF do NOT contribute to the rapid response program of Mishmeret Yesha, and neither does the IDF, except to supply the M-16's for training. At present, the burden of payment is on the shoulders of the organization.

Anyone wishing to share in this burden is encouraged to do so. Send your tax-deductible contribution, to: Mishmeret Yesha  1412 Avenue M , Suite 2363, Brooklyn, N.Y. 11230 . 4. Baruch Rofeh Cholim. Yosef Chaim ben Mazal Tov

My name is Tehila Shimoni. I'm 27 years old, the wife of Yosef Chaim Shimoni 28 years old, and mother of Itai, two and a half years old. I would like to tell you about my young family.

My husband and I both were born in Kiryat Arba. He went to the army, to a special unit, "Egoz"- that fights terrorists in Judea and Samaria and against" Hizballah" in Lebanon.

When we married 5 years ago we chose to live in "Giva't Harel"-in the Binyamin Settlements.  This settlement is named after our loved brother in law, Harel Ben Noon, who was murdered by an Arab terrorist on the same hills.

My husband Yosef works in a company that ensures that the Arabs will not take over more lands in our holy land.

A few weeks ago Yosef wasn't feeling well. We went from doctor to doctor and then from one hospital to another, and they told us that it's just an infection. On Israel's Independence Day he was accepted for emergency surgery and unfortunately diagnosed with a very violent cancer that spread in his stomach.

After counseling with doctors, we were told that the treatments in Israel are limited.

My husband and I were raised on the laps of our ancestors: Avraham and Sarah, Yitzchak and Rivka, and Ya'akov and Leah, all of whom refused to give up hope.

After searching all over the world we found a clinic in Germany that treats successfully such cases They combine chemotherapy treatment with other unique treatments. We sent a family member to Germany to examine those clinics and we understand that we have to be quick and arrive as soon as possible in order to improve our chances of success.

The estimates of the expenses are 150,000 Euro (almost $250,000) which we don't have, even after opening all our savings.

My uncle, Ofer Ochana, who some of you many know from the Gutnick Center Restaurant in Hebron, suggested that I write and tell you my story. Therefore I ask any of you that can help me save my husband's and the father of my children's (I'm two months pregnant) life!

As it is written "whoever saves one life, it is as if he saved an entire world."

Funds can be donated via the Hebron Fund in NYC,  at 1760 Ocean Ave. Brooklyn, NY 11230 or via internet at www.hebrontruma.com. Please note on the check or web donation that the funds are for the Yossi Shimoni Fund.
