Amona Revisited, Is Lieberman doing enough by merely actively looking for a solution to prevent the evacuation of Amona?

bs"d

Rabbosai, I feel that there is something much more at stake here.

"Evacuation of Amona" sounds very mild.   It is anything but...

There are those of us who recall the brutal attack and terrible suffering in Amona in 2006 upon defenseless Jewish youth and even against sympathetic Knesset members.

Three Knesset Members Hurt in Amona Evacuation http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/Flash.aspx/97760#.V3I34fkrJdg

It was authorized by the Israeli Gov't  under Olmert, with riot police and  trained riot horses used against their own people.  Many of them minors.  This brutal attack in Amona followed the heart wrenching expulsion from Gush Katif in Summer 2005.  Very raw emotional pain etched forever in the hearts and minds of those affected a large majority of the kids protesting another "evacuation".

This community deserves an apology an expression of regret, comfort and understanding rather than further heartache.

How can Israel even begin to contemplate adding insult to injury with additional intolerable acts to the Community of Amona?

This is what the government should do in order to undo and correct the injustice and crimes against the Amona community.
  • APOLOGIZE to the community and victims of the brutal Amona attack of 2006,  and especially to the HILLTOP YOUTH. Admit that the Government of Israel under Olmert was wrong.
  • Compensate for pain and suffering.
  • Aid Jewish Settlement and growth in Amona
  • Dismantle the Nationalist Crimes Unit
  • Do away with Jewish Administrative detention and conduct a fair investigation of Shabak and the Judicial System that have slandered and prosecuted and incarcerated and tortured Jewish Hilltop youth.  ( Administrative Detention for both Jew and Arab alike must have  a firm and reasonable justification. Otherwise Administrative Detention violates basic human rights.)
  • Advocate annexing Amona and the rest of Judea and Samaria to Israel.
This is the response that would gain trust and respect for Lieberman from the Nationalist camp

How can we trust Lieberman and Netanyahu if harassment of Hilltop youth is ongoing. Why does the government  continuously harass, libel and slander the salt of the earth?  And let me tell you a secret. It's not only the kids who have become distrustful, their family and friends, far and wide, all ages  have as well.

It takes a lot more to build up trust. Stopping the  demolition of a community is a big step in the right direction but not enough so long as there is a  Nationalist Crime Unit to harass and invent Nationalist crimes.  It is not enough so long as corrupt judges, and ISA (Shabak), Israel police and judiciary continue to enforce immoral Administrative detention for Jewish Youth thereby violating their civil rights. IT is not enough with with hilltop youth sitting months at a time in jail, or under house arrest or alternatively distanced from their home and family and friends, with no way to defend themselves against charges, with no real evidence against them other than false allegations,  and/or forced confession due to torture and no fair and transparent trial, but tried and convicted in the court of the Media. http://www.jewishpress.com/news/breaking-news/this-bench-belongs-to-the-minor-from-yitzhar/2016/06/22/

So allow me to remind you what happened in Amona in 2006 in case you forgot or never knew.

Jim Vinyard speaks up about Amona. Rabbis, Jewish Media and Radio still silent
http://shemittahrediscovered.blogspot.com/2006/02/jim-vinyard-speaks-up-jewish-media-and.html
Now let's return to the discussion at hand.

Was the hilltop upon which Amona is situated, populated and inhabited by Arabs prior to the Jews settling the hilltop or was it an empty hilltop with no Arabs living or claiming to live there?

In 1948, many Arabs fled as per the instructions of their leaders, not forced out, and their property and land was then resettled by Jews.   There was a war and we won.   According to Wikipedia, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israeli_land_and_property_laws#The_.27Absentees_Property_Law.27 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1948_Palestinian_exodus According to Simha Flapan,[27] "a detailed account of exactly how abandoned Arab property assisted in the absorption of the new immigrants was prepared byJoseph Schechtman":

It is difficult to overestimate the tremendous role this lot of abandoned Arab property has played in the settlement of hundreds of thousands of Jewish immigrants who have reached Israel since the proclamation of the state in May 1948. Forty-seven new rural settlements established on the sites of abandoned Arab villages had by October 1949 already absorbed 25,255 new immigrants. By the spring of 1950 over 1 million dunams had been leased by the custodian to Jewish settlements and individual farmers for the raising of grain crops.

Large tracts of land belonging to Arab absentees have also been leased to Jewish settlers, old and new, for the raising of vegetables. In the south alone, 15,000 dunams of vineyards and fruit trees have been leased to cooperative settlements; a similar area has been rented by the Yemenites Association, the Farmers Association, and the Soldiers Settlement and Rehabilitation Board. This has saved the Jewish Agency and the government millions of dollars. While the average cost of establishing an immigrant family in a new settlement was from $7,500 to $9,000, the cost in abandoned Arab villages did not exceed $1,500 ($750 for building repairs and $750 for livestock and equipment).

Abandoned Arab dwellings in towns have also not remained empty. By the end of July 1948, 170,000 people, notably new immigrants and ex-soldiers, in addition to about 40,000 former tenants, both Jewish and Arab, had been housed in premises under the custodian's control; and 7,000 shops, workshops and stores were sublet to new arrivals. The existence of these Arab houses-vacant and ready for occupation-has, to a large extent, solved the greatest immediate problem which faced the Israeli authorities in the absorption of immigrants. It also considerably relieved the financial burden of absorption.[28

Fast  Fwd:  A Jubilee ago,   50 years ago, in June 1967, Israel was attacked by her enemies surrounded on all sides and they fought and miraculously won.  They recaptured East Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria our ancient and Biblical Homeland.

Yet the rules that allowed Tel Aviv and Jerusalem to be resettled by Jews  in 1948, somehow didn't apply to the resettlement of Jews in Judea and Samaria. After 1967, it becomes an illegal act to settle these hilltops. Thank you Defense Minister Lieberman for highlighting the inconsistencies of Israel Law within the green line and outside of the green line. We want you to take this battle to the end.  It is not just about Amona.  It is about each and every hilltop and each and every home that did not get a proper permit which is slated for destruction because it is situation on Land that Israel reclaimed in the 6 Day War. .

There is an unfair double standard regarding Jewish Settlement in Judea and Samaria.

Why are we shocked when the Nations of the World apply a double standard on Israel?

Let us discuss what happened in 1776 The American Revolution:
Many years ago, Native Indians settled North America including what is now known as the United States of America.   Columbus came from Europe and then boatloads followed. Pioneers came and settled and inhabited the New Country.  The 13 colonies were established under British rule.

Then the British mistreated the Colonists with intolerable acts.  There was taxation without representation. (Not nearly as horrific as the intolerable acts perpetrated against the defenseless youth of Amona).  So the Colonists fought back and won a just war against the British.

Does America need to demolish new homes built by the Colonists on property once owned by Britain or Native Americans? Obviously this is a rhetorical question and the answer is obvious.

Back to the subject at hand....

Lieberman's current leadership has not changed the ongoing harassment of the hilltop youth.  The latest outrage is this 15 year old kid, a minor, who is not allowed to live at home with his parents in the Shomron.    Basically they are throwing him to the streets and distancing him from his parents. Now there is a bench campaign organized by advocates sweeping the country, with signs all over the country,  that is raising consciousness about the homelessness of this 15 year old kid entitled "This Bench Belongs to the Minor from Yitzhar" http://www.jewishpress.com/news/breaking-news/this-bench-belongs-to-the-minor-from-yitzhar/2016/06/22/

People are beginning to distrust Lieberman like they did Yaalon. He is pandering to Obama reassuring the Administration of his commitment to a 2 State Solution knowing fully well that Judea and Samaria should be under Jewish Sovereignty and not the Sovereignty of a Palestinian leader who is blood libeling Israel accusing them of poisoning Palestinians.  Lieberman is just another politician, on Netanyahu's team who continues in their intolerable treatment and harassment against the hilltop youth.

Perhaps this bench campaign makes Lieberman look bad.  His tough stand reputation is undergoing an about face as is typical once a right winger accepts a political leadership position.

Along comes Arutz7 and reports that Lieberman is going to help save Amona.  Everyone will now be grateful to Lieberman for not allowing Amona to be demolished and once again Lieberman can be counted as a Nationalist... a nice save face for Lieberman....

On Friday, Deputy Defense Minister Eli Ben Dahan visited Amona along with a number of Jewish Home activists.
According to the Ben Dahan, the Defense Minister was actively looking for a solution which would obviate the need for an evacuation.
"Defense Minister Liberman has issued a directive to the relevant officials to make every possible effort to prevent the evacuation of Amona."
"I'm certain," Ben Dahan continued, "that the Prime Minister has also issued a clear directive to the same effect to prevent Amona's evacuation. I'm making every effort to ensure that that happens [a solution for Amona]."

My message to Lieberman... Thank you for your efforts but you can't get off the hook so easy....Here again are my recommendations:

The Little Jewish Village That Makes Obama Boil

Halfway to the sky sits a tiny village of little white houses that has attracted the ire of the White House.

The village of Amona with its small white houses and red roofs could easily be mistaken for some lost Italian village or a dusty California town. But the White House would not have "boiled in anger", as one anonymous official claimed, over the doings of some Italian village.

There's only one place on earth that makes Obama's blood boil. It isn't Iran or North Korea. It's Israel.

Amona's small scattering of houses have a fraction of the square footage of the White House. The 40 families living there in defiance of Islamic terrorists and left-wing lawfarers would hardly be noticeable if they all crowded into the White House foyer. And yet they've been condemned by the State Department in more virulent tones than most Muslim dictators.

What is it about this handful of Jews caught between heaven and earth that outrages so many?

That may be the great question of history. It will not be solved among the sheep pens and orchards, the little white houses of Amona and their inhabitants, who despite the rage of the big White House, continue to go to work each day, to raise their children and to worship in the way of their ancestors.

In the official parlance of the media, Amona is a "settlement".  That is to say it dates back a mere 3,300 years to the time when Joshua, born a slave in Egypt, commanded the Jews, "'Go and walk through the land, and describe it, and come back to me, and I will cast lots for you here before the Lord in Shilo."

Today Shilo is a city of some 3,500. Like Jerusalem, it is also deemed a settlement. But on the list of places described by Joshua's men, the mere speck of Amona appears before Jerusalem.

But then Amona, unlike Jerusalem, vanished from history. For thousands of years the name would have only meant something to the most dedicated biblical scholars. And then the left went to war against Amona. And out of that hatred the forgotten town was raised up from its forgotten place in history.

The handful of families living in Amona have been the subject of more legal proceedings, international debates, threats and international outrage than most genocides. 3,000 feet above sea level, its residents look up at a kind blue sky and down at an angry world that is unwilling to let them live in peace.

They meet the challenges of gravity and rage with simple faith. Asked about the threat of Islamic terror, a 5-year old girl answered, "As God helped Joshua, so he will also help us."

Amona and its residents need all the help they can get. They have been under siege for decades. What the Islamic terrorists couldn't do to the residents, lawyers and activists who receive funding from the Soros network and assorted international left-wing billion dollar organizations, strive to accomplish.

Demolition and eviction orders have been issued. Police have converged on the handful of buildings with clubs and yells. In one such battle a 15-year-old girl, whom we only know as Nili, stood in their way. The image of the teenage girl blocking the path of dozens of riot police in black became a Pulitzer Prize winning photo. "Anyone who looks today at the ruins of the houses in Amona - understands that in this operation there was no sense whatever, except destruction," she said in an interview.

There is still no sense whatsoever to the war against Amona except destruction. It isn't about the land.

Amona's main antagonist is the extremist left-wing group Peace Now. There is nothing peaceful about Peace Now which seeks peace only with Islamic terrorists. One co-founder, Uri Avnery, declared, "The time has come to bury them." Another Peace Now co-founder, Yigal Tumarkin weighed in, "My true contribution would be if I grabbed a sub-machine-gun, instead of a pen and pencil, and killed them."

The children of Israel's small towns and villages excite such unnatural fury from left-wing notables.

Under pressure from a radical left-wing judiciary, Israel's government decided to relocate the families of Amona by building houses for them in Shilo. It is this which reportedly made Obama boil like a little teapot. The Jews of Amona are not to be permitted to live in their town. Or in any other.

According to some anonymous official, the plan to build houses for the evacuees in Shiloh is "of great concern" to the White House. Anyone wondering why Obama isn't concerned about ISIS or the economy had better realize that his eye is firmly fixed on a small town in Israel up against the bulldozer.

And he's determined to see to it that the bulldozer wins.

State Department deputy spokesman Mark Toner claimed that building 98 homes would endanger peace. Peace in Israel is as dead as the dodo. But somehow it never seems to be endangered by any amount of Muslim suicide bombings, stabbings or rockets. The Palestinian Authority funds Islamic terrorism by paying salaries to terrorists using taxpayer money dispensed to them by Obama.

And this butchery of Jewish families and massacres of Rabbis in no way endangers peace.

It is only the very real risk that the families of Amona might find some shelter that renders the glorious infrastructure of "a viable Palestinian state more remote". Like Haman, the Islamic terrorist state cannot stand to see a Binyaminite, no matter how alone, standing tall in defiance of its hunger and malice. These handfuls of homes represent, according to the State Department, "perpetual occupation."

State has a point. 3,300 years isn't quite perpetual, but it's a lot longer than Toner has been hanging around D.C. It's a long longer than appeasers who know not to eat with their left hand and to curse Israel when visiting Muslim countries have been sliming their way around Foggy Bottom.

Can a few dozen families really "block" the rise of an Islamic terrorist state in Israel? During Israel's War of Independence the small village of Kfar Darom held out against sustained assaults from the Muslim Brotherhood. Among the Muslim Brotherhood terrorists was an Egyptian Jihadist named Yasser Arafat.

Moral courage enables a handful of people to do what the massive array of government cannot.

Nili explained her actions by saying, "You see me in the photograph, one against many, but that is only an illusion. Behind the many stands one man... but behind me stands the Lord." Today that man is Barack Hussein Obama. The residents of Amona stand in the way of his dream of an Islamic Palestine.

Who are the people of Amona? For the most part, they are children. Amona has nearly 200 of them. 5 children are on the small side for a local family. Today Amona could pass for a village, tomorrow it's a town and the day after it's a city. That has been Israel's history. In a world where the great cities of civilization are overrun by the terrible tide of Muslim demographics, it is a place whose people still believe in the future. Such little villages full of white houses with red roofs are fortresses of hope.

In Amona, you will find deer meandering through the street. The Nizri family, with eight children, sees to the casks of French oak in the winery. There are raspberries to pick, tools to mend and a life to build.

It is not mere height above sea level that enables the people of Amona to tower above their enemies. It is their determination to live lives of ordinary courage. They have attracted the ire and enmity of some of the most powerful people in their country, their region and the world. And yet they go on.

Obama boils in his anger like a lobster in a pot. The UN Security Council has scheduled a special meeting where Israel will be denounced by the likes of Venezuela and Angola. And in Amona, the children play.

Where is a common sense approach? Why for heavens sake won"t this bill stand the test of an appeal to the High Court? Time to investigate the High Court for their anti Settlement bias.

Amona Revisited, Is Lieberman doing enough by merely actively looking for a solution to prevent the evacuation of Amona?

The Knesset is scheduled to vote on Amona and is considering legislation over the next couple of days. Please email Knesset Members and urge them to save Amona. Here's how:

Step 1.  Copy and paste the following addresses into the Bcc: box of a new email:

Step 2.  In the body of the email, type:

Dear Member of Knesset:

Your vote on Amona tomorrow is very important.

(Then choose from some of these points. It is important that your email is individualized, so use your own words. Thank you!!!)

a. Amona is a symbol of Jewish presence in JudeaSamaria – without which Israel is 9 miles wide.

b. From Amona, Jerusalem is easily visible.

c. Amona – in fact the entire Regional Council surrounding Amona – is the only thing that stands between Ben-Gurion airport and Palestinian missile fire on airplanes flying in from Florida, New York and other places. Today you protect Amona; tomorrow Amona protects you when you board an airplane to Israel.

d. Amona is a symbol of lawfare against Israel – in this case, claims that land passed out to landowners long gone by a monarch who was illegally ruling in JudeaSamaria (the king of Jordan) are more important than claims of Jewish families legitimately allocated empty land by Israel's government.

e. Amona reminds us and the world of the simple fact that the international community long ago pledged that Eretz Israel including JudeaSamaria would be the one place in the world where Jews would be a majority. The Arab nation including the Palestinian sector (which shares language, religion and origin with the remainder of their Arab brothers and sisters and is not a separate nation) received the remainder of the Middle East for their self-determination – about 99% of the Middle East.

f. 200 children live in Amona who, like their parents, have done nothing wrong and should not be uprooted for reasons of human rights.

g. The war against Amona is being fought by radical left groups which have caused Israel great damage and 1000 victims of terrorism. These groups say terrorism is no worse than settling  the land – setting the stage for 9/11 and other atrocities worldwide.

h. Amona and other communities like it are a huge help to the Israel Defense Forces. Israel's army can only deploy, say 10 thousand soldiers in strategic JudeaSamaria – tops!! – at any given time. The Jewish community in Amona and communities like it numbers about 500 thousand – 50 times as large.

i. Amona and other communities like it  overlook Israel's bustling  population centers – Tel-Aviv, Jerusalem and their suburbs – and bravely prevent these population centers from being turned into useless, cowed war zones.

j. Amona is part of the Land of Israel which historically belongs to the Jewish people whereas the Arab people already have vast tracts of land and should not be allowed to take our land away.

k. The Amona Regulation Law offers generous financial compensation for land to Arabs who may never have owned the land. This is far more than descendants of the 3 million  full owners of Jewish property in Poland ever received – to this day, these full and indisputable owners were offered nothing by their former murderers.

Respectfully,

Fwd: AMONA RESIDENTS TORTURED

Bsd

My comments...

We can't negotiate Eretz Yisroel. Those from Gush Katif who "worked" out a deal in 2005  with the govt were worse off than those who didnt, once they were expelled.

It's far better not to depend on others for handouts.  Only from Hashem. Those who do chesed dont give anyone a present or gift. They do it for the Mitzva a gift to Hashem. The recipient then gets what Hashem sends them via the giver. That has the attributes of Kedusha.

On the other hand, handouts from the govt, bribes, or under threat and duress is tainted and it is better not to be on the receiving end as is proven here!

The new homes approved in adjacent area in Amona should be for those displaced by Haifa fires and these residents of Amona should stay in their homes!

Amona
Amona Residents Tortured by Government Decisions, Agreements, and Violations

Amona
(This is what the world is complaining about?)

The community of Amona in the Shomron has not been much in the news these past few weeks, but the quiet is ending, and ending fast:

1. Arabs in the Shomron have petitioned the Israeli Supreme Court to cancel the agreement agreed to by the government and residents of Amona to relocate the residents to property adjacent to Amona. Arabs petition High Court against Amona zoning

To the great dismay of many, the court agreed and issued an injunction this past Monday temporarily freezing the construction of new homes for the residents of Amona, and forbidding the State from carrying out any work on the plots set aside for the construction. Supreme Court freezes Amona outline

2. Naturally, the residents of Amona protested this ruling:
The leaders of the town of Amona in Samaria penned a letter to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Education Minister Nafatli Bennett Sunday, protesting the fact that the government did not abide by the agreement with the residents to provide alternate housing on the same hill in return for their pledge to be evacuated peacefully.

The residents wrote that they will initiate a new campaign against the impending demolition of their homes, which according to the agreement reached last month and which was approved by the Supreme Court must take place by February 8. They wrote that the only solution which would prevent the destruction of their homes would be to enact the Regulation Law to retroactively legalize the construction.
Amona residents: Government violated agreement

Amona's Chief Rabbi also protested the ruling and issued warnings if the Amona residents are not relocated as per the agreement:

Last night, residents of Amona held an emergency meeting during which they announced the renewal of their public battle to prevent their eviction from their homes, after the agreement with the government to prevent the eviction hit a snag.

Amona Council Head Avichai Boaron stated, "We have no choice but to renew our fight to prevent the destruction of Amona."

3. In light of the government's failure to provide alternative housing for the Amona residents, Education Minister Naftali Bennett called for the government to finally approve the Regulation Law before the expected expulsion of the residents in two weeks.

So, this is where we currently stand. Will the government abide by its agreement to relocate the residents of Amona to an adjacent area, or will they renege, and G-d forbid be responsible for potentially violent protests as was seen in Amona in February, 2006? Time is running short.
