ISRAEL LIVES  August 14, 2015  28 AV 5775  MUST READ : NO NUKES FOR IRAN, UNWRA EXPOSEE
IMPORTANT News Report Below    This can be occurring at a Synagogue - or Meeting Hall near you.  I received news that it will be at the Shorefront Y 3300 Coney Island Ave., Brighton Beach, Brooklyn NY last night - Will there be another in Hakeem Jeffries district?  Are others happening in the United States?  Please let me know.  I suspect that 'behind the scenes', the Administration has orchestrated numerous such meetings.
-THOSE WHO REMEMBER-
SANCTIONS BROUGHT IRAN TO THE BARGAINING TABLE!!!
Aug 11, 2015 Pole results:
·         NY Jewish Voters Oppose Iran Deal 53 to 33 Percent
·         Hispanics oppose the deal by a wide margin of 45 to 27
·         Black New Yorkers support/oppose it by only 39 to 34
Just reported: African-American Florida Rep. Alcee Hastings declared Thursday he won't support the Iran nuclear deal - the 11th House Democrat to publicly nix it - saying the pact would let Tehran "remain a nuclear threshold state while . reaping the benefits" of sanctions relief. "We must maintain a strong sanctions regime - to do otherwise is to give up our leverage," Hastings writes. "Sanctions are what brought Iran to the table, and they depend on large-scale international cooperation and compliance."

Hastings vowed to introduce legislation next month authorizing the president or his successors "to use military force to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear weapons state."
The Jewish Press reports Hastings' opposition puts him with 10 other House Democrats who've announced their intention to vote "no" on the pact, listing them as: New York's Grace Meng, Kathleen Rice, Nita Lowey, Steve Israel and Eliot Engel; California's Juan Vargas and Brad Sherman; New Jersey's Albio Sires; Florida's Ted Deutch, and Georgia's David Scott.

IMPORTANT:  Dates for Iran votes  Thanks to: Tracey. Johnson" <Johnson@centerforsecuritypolicy.org>, "Joshua London (ZOA)" <JLondon@zoa.org>
Our latest information, subject to change, is:
1-The House will vote right before Rosh Hashanah (Friday, Sept 11) and the Senate right after (Wed. Sept 16).
The President has 10 days, excluding Sundays, to veto.  If it is finalized on Sept 16, that gives him until September 28.
There is no time limit on the veto override, but debate is limited in the senate to 10 hours (no filibuster on override).
The law provides, as I quote below, that the President cannot undo any sanctions until 10 days following the veto.  If veto override takes longer than 10 days for some reason,  I think the President would be free to act on sanctions relief. That gives both houses the deadline of October 8 if the President vetoes on the last day he is allowed to.

If a joint resolution of disapproval described in subsection (c)(2)(B) passes the Congress, and the President vetoes such joint resolution, the President may not waive, suspend, reduce, provide relief from, or otherwise limit the application of statutory sanctions with respect to Iran under any provision of law or refrain from applying any such sanctions pursuant to an agreement described in subsection (a) for a period of 10 calendar days following the date of the President's veto.

NEWS REPORTS  (4):
1>DAVID BEDEIN HAS RECEIVED PERMISSION TO AIR THE FILM OF HAMAS' CURRENT ACTIVITIES IN TRAINING PALESTINEAN YOUTH  IN TERRORISM, AN UNWRA SUPPORTED PROGRAM,  I N  T H I S  C O N G R E S S.

IN THE TIME PERIOD THE DISCUSSION TO OVER-RIDE IS TAKING PLACE IN THE CONGRESS, DAVID BEDEIN HAS RECEIVED PERMISSION TO AIR THE FILM OF HAMAS' CURRENT ACTIVITIES IN TRAINING PALESTINEAN YOUTH  IN TERRORISM, AN UNWRA SUPPORTED PROGRAM,  I N  T H I S  C O N G R E S S.

THIS CONVENTIONAL TERROR THREAT POSED BY IRAN ON ISRAEL IS REAL, IMMEDIATE & ONGOING.  THE NUCLEAR THREAT, HORRIFIC AS IT IS FOR THE ENTIRE WORLD, HAS A LONGER TIME PERIOD TO COMPLETE.
The agency set to benefit from a new flow of Iranian funds to finance radical Islam is UNRWA, whose schools educate 492,0000 students under the slogan of the "right of return",  a euphemism for Israel's destruction.  Additional funds flowing into UNRWA would supply funds to intensify the already ongoing indoctrination of palestinean youths.
David Bedein, director of the Center for Near East Policy Research and the Israel Resource News Agency made a joint presentation last Friday to the staff of the US Foreign Affairs Committee with new research on how UNRWA, whose largest funder is the US government, has allowed radical Islamic terror groups to take over UNRWA schools.
This week, the center's TV crew films summer day camps of UNRWA where the values of Jihad, martrydom and the liberation of all palestine are being taught in the UNRWA summer camps as well as in their schools.  Following is the link to 14 prior movies made by the Center for Near East Policy Research from 2002-earlier in 2015.  Take a moment, watch a few minutes of any of the films.  It is a graphic, hair-raising experience, see the military training of pre-teens as well as teens in total violation of the Geneva Convention of the Rights of Children and the United Nations Convention of the Rights of Children.
http://www.cfnepr.com/205640/Movies
BEDEIN IS RUSHING TO COMPLETE THIS FILM TO AIR IT DURING THE DAYS THAT CONGRESS IS CONSIDERING THE OVER-RIDE  -  THIS WILL INTENSIFY THE REALITY OF THE FREE WORLD'S DESPARATE SITUATION IN DEALING WITH IRAN'S PROGRAM OF INDOCTRINATION OF PALESTIAN YOUTH.
THERE ARE 59 UNWRA REFUGEE CAMPS THAT CONTAIN MORE THAN 5 MILLION DESCENDANTS OF ARAB REFUGEES WHO LEFT ISRAEL DURING THE 1948 WAR!!!  THESE REFUGEES ARE CONSTANTLY INCITED THRU 'EDUCATION' TO TAKE UP ARMS TO 'LIBERATE' PALESTINE UNDER THE "RIGHT OF RETURN" TO VILLAGES THAT EXISTD BEFORE 1948.
WHY IS THIS FILM AN URGENT PRIORITY  N O W?
A HIGH OFFICIAL OF THE STATE DEPARTMENT METWITH BEDEIN TO SAY THAT U N R W A  HAD RID ITSELF OF HAMAS.
THE SAME U.S. OFFICIAL CLAIMED THAT THE U.S. GOVERNMENT HAD EXAMINED THE CURRENT PALESTIAN AUTHORITY TEXTBOOKS AND THAT THEY ARE FREE OF INCITEMENT!!

2>BHO IS SO WELL ORGANIZED IT IS TRULY FREIGHTENING, MORE FREIGHTENING EACH DAY.  Yesterday, a person I thought was a genuine pro-Israel activist asked me to direct my readers to a meeting at the largest orthodox shul in Flatbush Brooklyn - I consider the speaker, Representative Hakeem Jeffries to be a BHO clone, so I wasn't anxious to involve my readers.
STOP IRAN NUKES-N O W
SUPPORT ISRAEL, HELP THE WORLD

I was asked to announce the following meeting, I did not.   My antennae were aroused when I was told that Rep. Hakeem Jeffrey (D-NY) would be present.  Hakeem Jeffries told the organizers that, "At this point he is actually considering voting against it (the Iran Nuclear Agreement), but, he believes American Jews do not care so much about this issue", "that is why he wants to come to an event to see how many Jews will turn out". So, Hakeem Jeffrey's is purposely coming to an Orthodox Synagogue in Flatbush Brooklyn, just to see if American Jews 'really care'.  Notice, the Carrot (considering to vote against it) and the Stick (to see if American Jews really care).
I sent the notice to only one person, Robin Ticker, knowing she could contend with anything they introduced.  Following is her report:

OBAMA ADMINISTRATION'S METHOD OF DEALING WITH PROTESTS AGAINST THE IRANIAN NUCLEAR 'DEAL' FROM THE AMERICAN JEWISH COMMUNITY
FROM ROBIN TICKER

Tonight I attended the Special Briefing at Flatbush Park Jewish Center.  It was standing room only. That is the good news. There were surely more than 500 people because the shul had 500 seats all filled, and there were lots of people standing.  See promotional flier of event
Endorsed by AGUDAH, OU, AIPAC, RAJE, JCC of Marine Park, Flatbush Jewish Community Council, JCC of Canarsie, AIPAC, Crown Heights Jewish Community Council.
Frankly, I was tremendously excited to finally see mainstream Jewish Organization join together for a Stop Iran Meeting.  OR that is what I assumed it would be.
But after attending the meeting to add my voice to the conversation as the flier suggested, I found myself politely escoriated for voicing it.  There was no way to voice it other than to call out which of course is not respectful.  After all, they were briefing us the audience. and we the audience were expected to politely listen to their briefing and politely listen to the answers to the prepared questions asked by a 3rd party moderator.
Here was the message of despair to an audience that was somewhat educated but educated with a bias.  Here is the bias of the presenters of this meeting.
·         While Obama should have not brought the Iranian Deal to the United Nations before Congress approved it, the fact that it happened is a done deal and we must live with it and make the most of it. Yes, Congress Reps are our elected officials and therefore our voice should be heard as well. Rep Jeffries takes this responsibility quite seriously.
·         There is no turning back that Iran will have nuclear weapons.  It is a fact and we must live with/were already put into place by the Bush Administration.
·         If Israel attacks Iran's nuclear weapons it will trigger a war and Tel Aviv will have rockets raining on it.
·         While there is nothing we can do about the lifting of sanctions by the United Nations (infusing the Iranians with billions of dollars), and even if America votes against the deal, it won't change that from occurring and it will only isolate America, Congress still has 60 days to vote to  reject the deal. But the damage about lifting sanctions is already a  done deal, by the UN Security Council.   The only purpose to vote against the Iran deal would be in case Israel decides to attack Iran, we have leverage to not stop her from attacking Iran. Otherwise according to the guidelines of this deal, America would be obligated to make sure that Iran's nuclear weapons are protected.
·         If Iran reneges on the deal which can now be (superficially) supervised, we can once again impose sanctions. (I didn't quite remember how they explained away the fact that Iran will choose the specimens.)
·         Yet we can't undo the times that Iran reneged in the past.
·         It is better than previous stop nuclear proliferation deals made in the past such as with South Korea and Russia. NO mention  of North Korea.  People disrespectfully called out North Korea...
·         Yes, there are some difficult question regarding what happens in 8 years from now but there were some countries of the p5 who wanted ballistic missiles allowed immediately and the deal pushed that off as a compromise for 5 to 8 years.
·         The military option is not an option. the only option is can we get a better deal.
This is a far cry from:
·         >A terrorist regime like Iran must not be empowered with either conventional or nuclear weapons and every other option is the lesser of this evil including a possible military confrontation.
·         >Obama must be taken to task for circumventing Congress and all agreements of America, including the one adopted by the UN Security Council are null and void since it did not receive the approval from Congress before Obama Administration submitted it for adoption to the UN.
·         >What is good for Israel is good for America. What is bad for Israel is bad for America.
·         >Bi Partisan legal actions should be brought against the Obama Administration for acting in a traitorous fashion against the American People and for personally attacking Schumer, Netanyahu, rich lobbyists presumably Jewish, and Jews for fighting this dangerous deal with logical military arguments against a regime that all agree is a  terrorist regime. Frankly, between Radical Islam taking over the world with death and destruction and nuclear capability and Israel bringing G-dliness to the four corners of the earth as our Rosh Hashana prayer say Vehaya Hashem LeMelech Al Kol Haaretz....and you should choose LIFE, what should we choose? Should we choose Nuclear Iran or should we choose Israel who wish to control the world as well?
·         >Call for an investigation as per how ISIS became empowered in such a short amount of time, probably by  American Foreign Policy under the Obama Administration which helped to arm them and fails(ed) to effectively stop them, thereby creating millions of refugees, and unleashed barbaric cruelty and acts of horrific subhuman atrocities against humanity including caging and burning "infidels", public be headings, mass executions, blowing up infidels by having them sit on live bombs, enslavement of women and buying and selling women no different than property, the unspeakable sexual psychological and physical crimes against young women and children who opted for suicide but weren't even allowed the choice, rather than subject themselves to emotional and physical torture of the highest order.... need I go on? THIS IS HAPPENING UNDER OUR WATCH!!!! Dare we be Silent?????
This meeting was different than the Jerusalem Post conference because at that Conference when the Audience did not agree with the speaker they tended to boo.  True that it was disrespectful but there was no way of escorting the booers out because there were so many of them. The Organizers simply reprimanded the audience and the audience in turn tried somewhat to limit their voices of  disapproval.
AT this meeting there was no way to voice disapproval.  You were allowed to clap but any booing was considered disrespectful.  There were many ushers there ready to escort out anyone causing a disturbance.  As is typically the case when the organizers do not really wish to present the other side of the story, the panelists are carefully selected and all questions are asked by a moderator so that comments are weeded out and so is the passion of the one asking the question.  There is no chance of rebuttal. To be fair, the questions themselves were fair questions.

This audience was clearly not so happy with some of the answers the speakers made.  But they are conditioned to be polite and respectful and seemed less informed than the Jerusalem Post crowd of activists. They probably do sense when they are being fed a bunch of nonsense and conflicting points, but they couldn't really put their finger on it and there was lots of mumbling heard, but even when they did know enough to disagree,  there was no way to contribute to the conversation in spite of what the flier said.

EUROPEANS RUSH TO PROFIT FROM IRAN DEAL  Middle East expert Ilan Berman points out that for Iran, trading with Europe is actually the perfect self-defense, a virtual guarantee that it will not face military attack if it cheats on its obligations under the nuclear deal.
Sanctions will also be lifted on Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's $95 billion business empire, as well as on Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which operates a vast network of companies and industries. No wonder European media outlets are referring to Iran as the "new El Dorado," the "chance of a century," and the "last untapped market."

4>A TEST - WHAT DOES 'ALINSKY', HILLARY CLINTON'S AND PRESIDENT OBAMA'S HERO., MEAN TO YOU.
Saul Alinsky died about 43 years ago, he was the 'father' of Community Organizing, but his writings influenced those in political control of our nation today.......
Recall that Hillary did her college thesis on his writings and Obama writes about him in his books.
Alinsky Died: June 12, 1972, Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA
Education: University of Chicago
Spouse: Irene Alinsky
Books: Rules for Radicals, Reveille for Radicals
All eight of Alinsky's rules have been brought into being in the U.S. under President Obama !
How to create a social state by Saul Alinsky:
There are eight levels of control that must be obtained before you are able to create a social state. The first is the most important.
1) Healthcare Control healthcare and you control the people.
2) Poverty. Increase the Poverty level as high as possible, poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them to live.
3) Debt. Increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes, and this will produce more poverty.
4) Gun Control Remove the ability to defend themselves from the Government. That way you are able to create a police state.
5) Welfare Take control of every aspect of their lives (Food, Housing, and Income)
6) Education. Take control of what people read and listen to take control of what children learn in school.
7) Religion. Remove the belief in the God from the Government and schools
8) Class Warfare. Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to take (Tax) the wealthy for support of the poor.
Alinsky merely simplified Vladimir Lenin's original scheme for world conquest by communism under Russian rule.
Stalin described his communist converts as "Useful Idiots."
Useful Idiots have destroyed every nation in which they have seized power and control.
It has happened at an alarming rate in the U.S.
If people can read this and still say everything is just fine, they are "useful idiots".
"It is difficult to free fools (i.e., Useful Idiots) from the chains they revere."

Fwd: [nashimbyarok-WIG] Outrageous administrative detention-מעצר מינהלי שערורייתי and my comments

bs'd

The facts have still to surface but my gut feeling is that there is a witch hunt against Jewish Settlers in order to portray them as "Jewish Terrorists".  Even when no one is actually convicted, the process itself libels and discredits the Settler communities in Judea and Samaria and makes it much easier in the future to destroy their homes and communities. It is was these psychological weapons used in the Gush Katif Expulsion that eventually enabled the operation to be successful.

Why the Government of Israel, sanctioned by a right wing gov't, is engaging in such acts of hostility against the Settlers is surprising and very disturbing!  Obviously there are pressures to which I am not privy to but surely, apologies or condemnations on behalf of the Settler community for acts that are not verifiable as being committed by Settlers is extremely damaging since it serves to further strengthen the idea that indeed there exists "Jewish Terrorists" within the Torah observant Settler community.

Let me clarify that the most right wing Settler, even if they quote the Torah on portions that seem to be incitement towards committing acts of violence are not different than speaking about "Ayin Tachath Ayin", Eye for an Eye.  Settlers with a Torah education that is based on Torah Shebichtav and Torah Shebaal Peh, the written and oral law,  understand that one needs a Rabbinical Court to implement the Burning of Idolatrous places of worship.  It is never advocated as an option for  individuals. It first must be determined by a Rabbinical Court like a Sanhedrin whether or not the Place of Worship is indeed Idolatrous.  There is a legal process before any actual military action is actualized according to the Torah. Yes it is conceivable that if a Sanhedrin  determines that a Place of Worship that promotes Child Sacrifice is idol worship (like sacrificing to the Molech) it might warrant it's destruction. Let me add that we have yet to establish a working Sanhedrin and that is one of the fears perhaps of those accusing the settlers...

To accuse the Settlers of Price Tag Revenge is probably the work of implanted provocateurs of those who wish to discredit the Settlers. IF indeed they will find someone guilty of such a crime it would  probably be someone who do not have a strong Torah upbringing such as the Soccar fan thugs. While individuals might have their own private opinion of what constitute Idol worship or worthy of burning according to Torah, just like individuals might carry opinions as per whether someone like OJ Simpson was guilty and worthy of a death sentence, are according to the American  Constitution allowed to be free to have such opinions and even voice them. However, they are not allowed to in any way actualize them or engage in any violent way that will take the law into their own hands.

If one wishes to accuse another of violence in order to discredit them without any evidence, taking kids into Administrative Detention is the only way.

Distinguished Sirs and Madam,

Subject: The security services' lack of restraint in the manner that they deal with crime in Judea and Samaria

Unfortunately it seems that in recent days the Israel Police and General Security Services have lost all restraint in an attempt, which is important of itself, to locate the perpetrators of the severe incident in Kfar Duma.

The public noise, not to say, call for attack, and the resounding professional failure of the enforcement authorities until now in the prevention of such crimes and the identification of those who have carried them out, has deteriorated into what seems like actual hysteria, to the extent of a loss of control and the crossing of red lines that is difficult to accept in a democratic state of law.

Here are just a few examples of this hysterical and non-professional behavior:

1.       In recent days the Israel Police has gone to many heads of security in communities of Benyamin and demanded, without a warrant, to take recordings from all of the security cameras in the communities. Thus, across the board, resulting in a great intrusion of privacy and lack of respect to the residents of the communities in general, whose every step in recent days, no matter how personal or intimate, is exposed. It is inconceivable thus to harm the rights of so many people in so sweeping an action, in order to find a few perpetrators.

2.       Sunday, before sunrise, the police force descended upon the homes of seven families in the community of Adei Ad, awakened them and carried out a brutal search and ultimately, two people were arrested – one, a resident of Hevron who was required to attend an investigation and did not appear, and the other is a resident of the area and a member of the emergency unit of the community, and while a search was carried out in his house, an illegally owned bullet-proof vest was found… (the weapon that was found in his possession was legally owned). What is this if not hysteria?! What good does it do for the children of the seven families, after their traumatic meeting with the police, who will hate policemen for the rest of their lives?! What dangerous wanted criminals did they have to arrest there in such haste that justified waking up the children of a family before sunrise and causing them such a trauma as this search?!

3.       The outrageous administrative detentions, lacking specific connection to the incident at Duma (for example – the family of Eviatar Slonim told me that he was actually staying with his family on vacation when the incident occurred). About such things it is said, "Since the destroyer has the authority to destroy, he does not distinguish between the righteous and the sinner". Administrative detentions are a necessary evil to be used sparingly and when there is no other option. It is difficult to free ourselves of the feeling that the present wave of arrests is intended to compensate for past failures in investigating similar incidents and to appease impassioned public opinion. Have administrative detentions ever been used against organized crime in the State of Israel?! How is it that this tool is reserved only for the residents of Judea and Samaria?!

The three examples described above teach us about what seems like hysterical, unprofessional and unethical behavior, that serves no purpose other than to "check off" something on a list and to indulge the public and media hunger to see the system "do something". This behavior does great harm to the residents' rights and harms the public's faith in the law enforcement agencies no less.

I wish to take this opportunity to entirely reject any possible comparison that anyone might try to make in recent days between the treatment of Arab terror and the tools at the security system's disposal to deal with it and the treatment of very severe (!) actions that Jews have done against Arabs (assuming that it is Jews who did it).

The most common way to deal with crime and criminals in a democratic state is according to a criminal process and procedure, the balance between the need to defend society, to bring offenders to trial and to bring them to justice, and the need to maintain the rest of society's values, which, in general, are the rights of suspects and the accused within the framework of the process.

In the reality of battling against an enemy there is sometimes the necessity to use tools that are not normally used, among them the death sentence, demolition of houses as a deterrent to such deeds in the future, administrative detentions and so forth. We do not allow ourselves, and rightly so, to do this when faced with other severe social and criminal phenomena in society, including organized crime, which exacts a high price in blood, quite literally, and still does not justify the use of extra-ordinary tools for ordinary crime.

We are not engaged in a war against Jews! Crime is crime and it is the duty of law enforcement agencies to eradicate it. However, crime is not terror and crime perpetrated by citizens of a state does not make them enemies and does not justify acting outside the norm, as we must do in a war against enemies.

The various belligerent calls of "Jewish terror" and the intentions to give law enforcement agencies the tools at their disposal in the war against terror as well as against perpetrators who are citizens of the state, are populist and superficial and reflect an inability to make even a minimal distinction between complex situations. Your role as those responsible for the law enforcement agencies is to be able to deal with this complexity and navigate carefully between the delicate boundaries and this should dictate your policy.

Law enforcement agencies must display more professionalism and apparently also work harder in order to cope successfully with those few residents of the communities of Judea and Samaria who are suspected of criminal activity, but they must not be allowed to excuse a lack of professionalism and a lack of success by applying drastic tools from another world, including a grave blow to human rights, often regarding all the residents of Judea and Samaria (for example, the severe demand to take the recorded video from all of the security cameras in the communities of Binyamin).

As someone who has trust in the law enforcement agencies, I call on you not to be drawn into cheap and inflammatory populism and urgently to impose the necessary restraints on the law enforcement agencies.

Former president of the Supreme Court, Prof. Aharon Barak, often says that democracy is required to fight with one hand tied behind its back. If these words are correct in the Arab enemy's murderous war against terror, they are ten times as correct in dealing with brothers.

It is important to note, not incidentally, that regarding the incident in Duma, nothing has yet been proven to indicate that Jews are behind it. To the best of my knowledge, internal-Arab lines of inquiry, touching on internal conflicts between residents of the village, are also being investigated.

Sincerely

MK Bezalel Smotrich

RE: Iran Deal. 2nd Town Meeting with Hakeem Jeffries and Listening Session in Brighton Beach

Bsd

אל המקום אשר...

Updated Nov 30, 2022

Now years later I have come to the conclusion that Hakeem has the characteristics of Amalek.

UPDATE:  Wednesday Sep. 2, 2015

Terribly Disappointed in Hakeem Jeffries!!

I have something important to say to Hakeem Jeffries and each and every elected official and each and every one of us fighting this Iran deal that when we vote our conscience, when we stand up to fight evil,  it is good for our soul.  And whoever is a believer, knows that G-d is the King over all Leaders, good and bad.

Do not trust in princes, in the son of men, who has no salvation.  His spirit leaves, he returns to his soil; on that day, his thoughts are lost. Psalm 146:3
http://biblehub.com/psalms/146-3.htm

Yes Hakeem, I thought you were made of something more everlasting...

See how I was deceived!

And again this post here shows that after this meeting, I was impressed with Jeffries....

Guess I was wrong.  You clearly deceived. Too bad on you. Sincerely,

========================================================================

I went to the 2nd meeting and I was sincerely impressed with Jeffries.  This time it was an open meeting and people really had a chance to voice their opinion. This time it truly was a listening session as their flier suggested.

My conclusion is that we need to raise the bar on our demands.  Nuclear Iran is not an option since we are dealing with terrorists.  We must insist that we dismantle their capabilities! Israel can not accept anything less than that.  While Jeffries is not there yet, this time I sincerely felt he was open to listening.

Jeffries himself repeatedly stated that Israel lives in a tough neighborhood and he knows that the only language these guys respect is coming from a position of strength. I think that we need to do a more convincing job in presenting the military option coupled with crippling Banking sanctions by the US as the only option to stop IRAN. It was Jeffries himself over the course of the evening who actually spoke of these options.  Jeffries said that America has the capability to surgically take out the weapons buried deep in the mountains via MOP and Satellite GPS Technology. Capabilities that America did not have previously.  I googled MOP and came up with this interview with Defense Secretary Ashton Carter .  http://www.cnn.com/2015/04/10/politics/ash-carter-iran-north-korea-isis-al-qaeda/

Is the military option still on the table?
Carter said that the current framework for a deal with Iran does not take the military option off the table but added that it will currently not be used.
"We have the capability to shut down, set back and destroy the Iranian nuclear program and I believe the Iranians know that and understand that," he said, referencing the military's most powerful ground-penetrating bomb, the Massive Ordinance Penetrator (MOP).
The MOP -- which can explode 200 feet underground and is designed to destroy deeply buried and fortified targets -- is ready for use, Carter said.

Jeffries said that the reason the military option is not an option according to the Administration is because they believe if America goes that route it will trigger rockets raining over Israel, Tel Aviv and Haifa.

My thoughts at the time was,  surely that is something Israel would wish to avoid as well.  According to Congressman Jeffries, there is still a very strong working relationship with American and Israeli Intelligence. Surely they can work together and figure out how to counteract this potential threat that comes coupled with a military option of striking Iran's nuclear facilities.  What came to mind was that surely those who were being taken to Auschwitz crematoria in the Cattle Cars would  have supported American air strikes bombing the train tracks to Auschwitz even if they were in direct line of fire.  One needs to look at the bigger picture!

Jeffries also, over the course of the evening said that from talking to banking experts, there are clearly  ways via the American banking system to also "attack" countries who are presently trying to do business with Iran.  Now that there are billions of released assets due to sanctions relief we need to somehow stop the flow of business deals which serve to empower and resupply Iran and terrorists with conventional weapons. But he also mentioned that since America has a high debt to countries like China and Japan, that limits us.

My thoughts were:  Let us explore these options to the fullest and Make America Great Again (to coin Donald Trump). The fact that Jeffries has been looking into these options talks tons of the fact that indeed he is doing a thorough job investigating this deal and in keeping an open mind in exploring all options.

Obviously, it was a very anti Iran deal crowd. The Russian community. This was a very educated and passionate group.  They allowed questions in Russian with a translator. The translator also translated the response into Russian.  Out of around a little less than 200 people, (as per the number of attendees according to Jeffries staff), I would say there were less then 10 who supported the deal. btw almost everyone signed in, so this count is pretty accurate. I happened to sit next to a women who was for the Deal.  She said "Let's give Peace a Chance".  I told her that actually the word "peace" is really "terror".  I told her that she is advocating for "Let's give Terror a Chance". She kept on insisting so I had no other choice to "Bless" her that indeed that she herself personally experiences the actualization of what she is advocating.  Actually I told her that in my opinion I was cursing her but if that was what she was advocating she should get what she is asking for. I think she was a bit confused after that.

It was very important to Jeffries to know how many people attended. Let me note that this meeting was organized within approx 2 days.  I'd say they got an excellent turnout.  They also had an accurate count of people who attended/signed in at  Jeffries Town Hall meeting in Mill Basin. http://shemittahrediscovered.blogspot.com/2015/08/op-ed-brooklyn-event-hakeem-jeffries.html At the last meeting I had come in time for the question and answer period and as you can tell from my post, walked away with a very discouraging message from that meeting. I have asked friends who attended that meeting to also report on it so hopefully you will get different perspectives in forthcoming posts. However, my friends as well did seem to concur that the tone was one of fait acccompli.  Iran will eventually get a nuclear bomb and the goal is to monitor with inspections that are verifiable and to make sure that violations are detected but that the military option is not an option for now.

I felt that this meeting in Brighton Beach was much improved from the side of the Anti Iran position.

Since I came on time I did hear good points regarding why to reject this deal even choosing the diplomatic route (still the assumption was that a military option was not an option....)

Jeffries brought 2 people other than himself for the panel, one pro and the other con to present a balanced discussion.   Zachary K. Goldman, Executive Director of the Center on Law and Security at NYU School of Law gave good points but was nuanced.  He started off with the assumption that Diplomacy is the only way to go and from there built his case why the deal is bad.

My guess is that his objective was to convince Jeffries on points that Jeffries can be convinced to vote against this deal. Probably the same held true with Omri Ceren of TIP who spoke at the last meeting in Mill Basin representing the anti Deal side also nuanced.

Some Points of Zachary Goldman:

  • Purpose of deal is to pave the way for economic and diplomatic normalization of Iran.
  • If America votes for the deal there is a fear that US will lose leverage that will prevent US to do anything in the case that Iran violates the agreement.
  • Snap Back. When violations to the deal are detected, the ability to reimpose sanctions won't really happen when the violations are a little at a time.  Over time however the violations will accumulate and snap back will not have happened..
  • Timing of Deal - Not permanent.  Some clauses expire after 8 years, some after 10 some after 15 and some after 25 years but after a given time frame, Iran is no longer constrained.
Points in favor of deal as told by the White House according to Jeffries:
  • the purpose of this deal is primarily to stop a Nuclear Iran (In order for the Iranians to agree we must then offer them something in return which is sanction relief which unfortunately helps them with conventional weapons and gives money to increase terror)
  • Sanctions are only effective when there was a consensus of all the countries. Germany, France, Russia, England,China, USA etc.
  • The Iranian people are Pro American even while the Regime itself is anti American
Jeffries was leaning towards rejecting this deal but advocated for continued Diplomacy.

The pro Iran deal guy, Joel Rubin, President of Washington Strategy Group did a very poor job in my opinion. These were his points:
  • This deal will block Iran to nuclear weapons for 10 years
  • We cannot stop Iran from getting a bomb.  Only Iran can decide not to get a bomb
  • This deal is verifiable. The US Atomic Energy Commission will be visiting all nuclear sites and we will have rock solid verifiable knowledge of noncompliance.
  • The World is with us. All major powers are with us.  US acting alone with sanctions didn't work.
This time the question answer period was real.  People lined up to ask their questions. There was no middle man and no need to be escorted for disturbing. People actually were able to boo but it was kept to a minimum. Jeffries seemed genuine in  hearing and listening to  anyone who wished to speak and answered with respect and empathy and often with agreement. While he had told the audience that his decision will not be based on emotion but rather on facts he was extremely empathetic when an elderly gentlemen pleaded with him not to allow a Nuclear Iran and begged him to please stop it from happening.

I felt he genuinely listened to my points/questions.  (The aid who was in charge of the line looked at me and my papers and warned me to keep it under 30 secs.}  I thanked Jeffries for holding this meeting and told him I was very impressed with the breath of knowledge and honest evaluation of this deal.  My points were as follows though they might not have been said in this order.
  • I rejected Joel Rubin's remark that only Iran will decide not to get a bomb.  I told him that's like saying only a murderer can decide whether to have weapons.  Is that rational?  Jeffries seemed to agree.  I told him that I come from Hebron since I made Aliya and lived there for several years and that the phrase "Yes We Can" actually comes from the Hebrew phrase "Aloh Naale Ki Yachol Nuchal"  Which means We will Conquer the Land Because Yes WE CAN.  There ARE ways to stop Iran for obtaining a Nuclear bomb.
  • As for Rubin's claim that the deal is verifiable, IT IS NOT VERIFIABLE.  The one to ask whether it is verifiable are the people in harms way like Israel.  Only Israel can be trusted to say whether or not it is Verifiable.  I told him that not only don't we trust Iran we don't trust Obama (I got a lot of applause on that one). How did Obama bring the deal to the Unite Nations without getting Congress Approval???? (He seemed to like that point as well) . I said even a die-hard Democrat like Schumer or a die-Hard Democrat like himself can agree and it's just a sad reality (since who wants to mistrust the President of the US)
  • As for the argument that we need the world with us,l I told him that according to Jewish Law, there is a concept "Acharei Rabim LeHatoth velo LeRaoth" that we  go after  the majority except in the situation where the majority is voting for evil.  Therefore even if 99 percent of the people vote a particular way, if it's evil we still need to go against the majority.
The last question of the evening, (not mine) seemed to suggest that if Jeffries votes with the Deal he will not get reelected. Jeffries objected to the suggestion that his decision would be based on his political career and I felt he genuinely believed it. He said that this decision is weighing very heavily on him since he knows that the outcome can be catastrophic.

Many more town meeting are being scheduled. Jeffries wishes to visit all the communities in his District.  It is imperative that we show up and voice our concerns! I imagine that many other Elected officials will take Jeffries model and go to the people and listen to what they have to say.  Even if these troubling times it is a perfect example of How America is still a great country. The Spirit of Hebron must prevail for the benefit of both Israel and America and for Freedom and Democracy!
