COMMENT: Open Letter to Annie Lennox - A Scorned Wife

bs'd

Dear Marilyn, amv"sh

Excellent letter and thank you for sending it to me.

However, it does not speak of our entitlement to the Land.

Here's an analogy.

A couple is married to each other in holy matrimony. They have a prenuptial agreement.  He claims that he loves her but offers her to foreigners for their own use to win them over in a business deal, and she suffers and is hurt by these other parties, her value is diminished. The husband then defends his right to stop these foreigners from hurting her.  He scolds his business acquaintences to whom he has offered her and says, if only you would have treated her nicely she could have been yours.

Now where in this statement does the husband show that he loves her and desires her and honors and values the sanctity of their marriage?

The Land of Israel is the wife.  She is sanctified by her husband the Nation of Israel.  Yet he continues to degrade her by acting as if there was no sanctification and that the marriage is meaningless. He continues to act as if he has the right to farm her out to whomever he so desires as long as they are both not destroyed in the process.

At what point will he realize that his willingness to part with her is the source of her greatest sorrow and  degradation?

AN OPEN LETTER TO ANNIE LENNOX

Dear Annie,

As a long time fan of yours, I must say that I was so
disappointed to see you sitting under a Palestinian flag, in the company
of "Red" Ken Livingstone, George Gallagher, etc, all of them unabashedly
not only anti Israel, but anti Semites to boot.

As well as being beneath your personal dignity to sit with such
people you are also placing yourself decisively behind and identifying
with only one side in the conflict and have abandoned any pretense of
impartiality whatsoever.

I definitely value your concern for human rights and my heart goes
out to your obviously genuine heartache for the Palestinian suffering.
As do ours. Where, however was that beautiful voice of yours when 6000,
yes, 6000 rockets rained down on unprotected Israeli civilian villages,
towns and kibbutzim, all of them purposely targeting civilians and only
civilians. A whole population lived in fear, children suffering post
traumatic stress, economies floundering, and for what?

We unilaterally pulled out of Gaza , uprooted enterprises of 30
years standing, which during that time had prospered and made the
previously neglected desert bloom.

We pulled out with peace in our hearts, and the deeds to prove
it. We left behind, intact, the most technically advanced hothouses in
the world. We were prepared to train Palestinians and conglomerates of
American Jews (please check the facts) were offering to do joint venture
with these Palestinians to help them develop their economy. This would
offer unheard of opportunities in the 'refugee' world which I might add
would really defeat the aim of the Islamic nations who USE these poor
people as pawns.

Gaza was presented an opportunity to have become a thriving tax
free port city and we could have been living in peace and trading (this
is the best method of peace) with a prosperous Gaza . The Gazans
unfortunately strengthened the old adage "The Palestinians never miss an
opportunity to miss an opportunity" and alas, the hothouses were looted
and wantonly destroyed and we were met with a barrage of rockets instead
of joint ventures.

Foreign aid was spent on deadly weapons. Even when we had a "cease
fire" rockets rained in on a daily business and the Hamas interpreted
our incredible restraint as weakness. We pleaded, we threatened, until
our threats had lost all meaning. Enough was enough.

Where were you (and Sky News for that matter) when we were shown
gruesome live footage of an Israeli boy screaming on the floor of a
Supermarket.yes, a Supermarket where civilians do their shopping,
subsequent to an unprovoked rocket attack.. His leg had been sheared off
by an assault calculatingly and cynically targeting civilians. The
stories are endless.

Military might doesn't solve anything.the answer is in diplomacy
suggests Miss Lennox. Annie, who with? The Hamas will neither speak to
us nor even recognize our basic right of existence. Like their Iranian
masters they steadfastly call for our utter and total destruction. Non
less.

It is said that they are holding out for open border crossings.

They had open crossings till they started bombarding us. The
crossings were never permanently closed but their temporary closures
were vainly and ineffectively used as a deterrent. They even bombed the
crossings!! Go figure.

Is all of this madness in order to gain what they already had, and
could have had way back then by doing one simple thing. Stop bombarding
us!

Israelis yearn for peace and have proved with deeds that we are
prepared to pay a high price for this. Our peace treaties with Jordan
and Egypt are living proof. The Gazans will not talk peace, at very best
a truce. The last "truce" with Hamas was exploited in their smuggling
weapons, building tunnels, training shock troops in Iran and building
fortifications, as well as maintaining their daily bombardment of
Israeli civilians. Hamas, Hizbollah, Al Quaida, etc. not only call for
the destruction of Israel but mock the Western democracies, which they
have also openly promised to demolish. These threatened Democracies call
for even handedness in the region which is also perceived gleefully in
their eyes as weakness. Did we learn nothing from Chamberlain? Be
forewarned, Annie, in Londonstan, when you are wearing a burqa , at
least we will, at least ,still be able to see your beautiful eyes.

Why is it that you, and other "liberal" people like yourself so
savagely condemn Israel , with its democratic government, vocal
opposition, free press, a world respected legal system, rights for
minorities, etc? In short the only people in the Middle East who adhere
by YOUR standards, are vilified whilst you defend the people who trample
on democracy, human rights, woman's in particular, freedom of religion,
freedom of speech.need I go on with the list?

We have tried restraint, negotiations through 3rd parties, (as
they won't speak to us) cease fires (albeit one sided) nothing worked,
all the above were seen as weakness. Like feeding the proverbial lion in
order to get him to leave you alone it only increased their insatiable
appetite, and so the time had come to act, and act strongly. Was our
reaction unproportionate? Maybe we should have emulated them. For every
Kassam rocket fired indiscriminately into a civilian population, should
we have replied by sending helter skelter a rocket aimed into civilian
areas and trust to luck where it falls? What would you, Red Ken and the
gang have said about us then?

Hamas is to be judged, not only by its hideous actions but also by
the company it keeps, Iran, Hezbollah, Syria, El Qaeda, all "giants of
democracy and human rights," all reviled by the democracies of the
world, which nevertheless combine in a knee jerk reaction to malign
Israel, when it eventually does what any other country would have done
ages ago.exercise its right of self defence and fulfill its obligations
to its beleaguered citizens.

Annie, unfortunately you too, whom I so admired, must ultimately
be judged by the company you keep.

BREAKING NEWS! 4 Katyusha Rockets Hit up north near Nahariya 1:24am NY time,,,Sefer Shoftim - a must read

bs"d

http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/129295

I initially found out because I just got a call (its 1:24am NY time, 8:24AM Israel time) from my daughter in an Ulpana in Israel up north) calling from a Miklat, Bomb Shelter.

Dangers are facing us from all over.  Pro Hamas rallies in Florida and Toronto.

Tonight my 5th grader told me that he has a Navi test on Chapters 2-4 in  Shoftim, the Book of Judges.  So I read the Little Midrash Says on the Book of Judges by Rabbi Moshe Weissman.

Let me quote passages from this book.  Parallels to our times are amazing.

Shevet Yehuda fights additional battles.  They make a grave mistake by allowing Canaanim to stay in their portion.

The men of shevet Yehuda continued fighting for their part of the land.  They also helped shevet Shimon to conquer its part of the land.

The soldiers of Yehuda captured part of Yerushalayim and destroyed the Yevusim - one of the seven nations of Eretz Canaan - Hashem had commanded. (Another part of Yerushalayim belonged to shevet Binyamin)

The army of Yehuda also conquered Aza, Ashkelon and Ekron, three cities owned by the Pelishtim near the coast.

Soon afterwords, the men of shevet Yehuda had an unpleasant surprise.  After conquering a mountain in their part of the land, they began to attack the Canaanim who lived in the valley below.  To their dismay, they discovered that those Canaanim possessed iron chariots!  In those times, iron chariots were the equivalent of modern powerful tanks or airplanes.

The men of Yehudah had no iron chariots.  They said, "It is useless for us to fight against an army that has iron chariots!  We will all, chas veshalom, be killed!"

Because the Jewish soldiers lost heart, they did not put in much effort in the fight against the Canaanim in the valley.  They merely advanced a little and then withdrew.

In reality, the men of shevet Yehuda  were lacking the proper trust in Hashem .  Had they been confident of Hashem's help, they would have won the war.

Because of this, a number of Canaanim survived and remained in shevet Yehuda's portion of the land.  This was a serious sin.  The men of shevet Yehuda transgressed Hashem's command to kill (or drive out) all the seven nations living in Eretz Canaan....

Bnai Yisrael fail to keep the mitzva of getting rid of the seven nations

Hashem commanded Bnai Yisrael in the Torah, "Do not allow any of the seven nations to remain free men in Eretz Canaan!"

The Jews had several choices:

1. To drive them out of the land. OR:
2. To use them as servants, in which case the Canaanim would pay taxes and keep the seven mitzvos of Bnai Noach: OR"
3. If the nations would not agree to either of the above choices, Bnai Yisrael had to destroy them completely.

What is the reason for this commandment?  First of all, those nations all served idols, which Hashem did not want the Jews to imitate.  Furthermore, the people of Canaan had bad midos (character traits). do you remember the wicked city of S'dom that was destroyed in Avraham's time?  The people of S'donm robbed and abused the poor. S'dom was in Eretz Canaan and the other cities of Eretz Canaan were almost as wicked.  But because they were not quite as bad as Sdom, Hashem waited another 400 years until the Jews arrived in Eretz Canaan to drive those nations our of the land.  Now their measure of sin was full and it was time to get rid of them.

As we will see from the mext Midrash, the Canaanim were trained by their parents and grandparents to be wicked,

The Midrash tells us:
Canaan's last words to his children
Canaan was Noach's grandson (Cham's son).  Noach cursed him and his children with a curse that they would be slaves.  Before he died, Canaan gathered his children around him and told them, "I want to give you five important pieces of advice: 1. You should always love each other. 2. Try to steal as much as you can! 3. The more immorality, the better 4. Hate your masters. 5. Never tell the truth. (If your masters ever accuse you of stealing or anything else, never admit you did it)"

This became the lifestyle of the Canaanim.

We Jews are supposed to behave in exactly the opposite manner. the first point, "Love each other," sounds like a good thing to do.  But even with that Canaan had a bad intention;  "Gang up together to do bad!"

Bnei Yisrael knew that the Torah forbad them to let any of the seven nations stay in the land if those nations continued to serve idols.  But they found the mitzva of getting rid of them very hard to keep.  After Yehoshua's death, Bnai Yisrael thought, "We are sick of all these battles!  We already fought the Canaanim for seven full years in Yehoshuah's time!  What's so terrible, if some Canaanim are scattered about in the land?  It is too hard to get rid of every last Canaani!  The main thing is that we rule over them!  We can always drive them out later, if necessary.'

When the tribes of Efrayim and Menashe conquered their part of the land, they therefore allowed some non-Jews to stay.  They only forced them to pay taxes.  (This was not enough, according to the Torah.  Those nations were also required to keep the seven mitzvos of Bnai Noach.  Of course, the Canaanim did not want to do that.  So the Jews left them alone.)

When the tribes of Zevulun, Asher and Naftali conquered their property, they too, allowed many non-Jews to remain there, because they were tired of fighting so many battles.

Hashem's messenger scolds Bnai Yisrael

At that time Pinchas, the grandson of Aharon, was still alive.  He was a holy man.  He received a nevua (prophesy) from Hashem.  He gathered all of the Bnai Yisrael in order to speak to them.  While he spoke, his face glowed with the fire of the Schechina, so that he looked almost like an angel of Hashem.

These were Hashem's words which Pinchas gave over to Bnai Yisrael.

"I kept My promise to your forefathers to give you Eretz Yisrael.  I brought you out of Egypt and made a treaty with you that you would be My people forever.  Your part of the treaty is that you must keep My mitzvos. I warned you, "Do not make peace with the people who live in this land! Destroy all their objects of idol worship!".

"You have not listened to Me!  You acted foolishly by violating your treaty with Me.  Instead, you made a treaty with the nations.

"You were not serious in driving out those nations from the land.  As you wished, so shall it be! I will no longer help you drive out those nations.  But know that in the end they will harm you.  They will be like thorns that prick you, and their gods will trap you!"

But the main part of their teshuva was missing.  Bnai Yisrael should have begged Hashem to help them drive out all the Canaanim from the land.  That was even more important than offering korbanos, but they missed that point.  They named the place where they gathered "Bochim/Crying," to remember that there they had regretted their wrongdoing.  But they did not make a serious effort to correct their mistake."

Hallelukah! Ketzaleh , R' Yaakov Katz of Beit El Unites for Torah! National Union

bs'd

Please visit the Arutz7 link below.

His words are song to my ears.  Yasher Koach to all those activists like Susie Dym and Nadia Matar that worked so hard to get this together.  My only hope is that now, Moshe Feiglin will join in with this fantastic group because it is exactly what Feiglin believes rather than wasting time and energy on Likud.  The same goes for Menachemr Porush and UTJ. May all the Shas people join in under their courageous Rabbinic Leader Rabbi Yaakaov Yosef.  The Torah is what will unite Am Yisroel.  No longer shall we run away from our Torah that can sometimes feel like a burden but is ultimately for our own good and the good of the World.

The Torah was rejected in 1948 by the Zionist State but the State of Israel has much to be proud of in spite of this flaw. They built up the Land including establishing many Yeshivoth, and religious strongholds.  With this current Tikkun in our generation, of recognizing that the Torah is everlasting and relevant and our Covenant with Hashem is relevant in our day, we are doing what we need to fight Hamas.  Beezrat Hashem, no longer will there silence, a terrible chillul Hashem when they speak of Occupation. Finally a voice that speaks with pride of our entitlement to Eretz Yisroel based on Torah!  What a tremendous Kiddush Hashem!

Dear Friends, amv'sh

Nothing gave me greater satisfaction than reading in Arutz7 http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/129227how Israel shut down Hamas' communication, cell phones and website.

Arab propaganda is Hamas' strongest and most effective weapon.  The best possible defense is not to allow reporters into Gaza so that they will be forced to feel the Kassam rockets from the side of Israel when they report.

See how distorted the mainstream news is in reporting this War (New York Times etc.). Then please sign the petition of Honest Reporting.  If you do not see the video then show, enable pictures.

Freedom of speech, humanitarinism, mosques, schools, children  have become the weapons of Hamas to further their cause to gain public sympathy.  These are the vehicles Hamas use to facilitate evil and we must respond accordingly.

Robin

Israeli citizens have been under the threat of daily attack from Gaza for years.

Only this week - hundreds of missiles and mortars shells were fired at Israeli civilian communities including the firing of 80 missiles on a single day.

See how the international media is reporting on these events.
