אילן במה אברכך

Edit Song • Discussion • History • Print

Ilan bameh avrechecha?
Sheyihiyu peirotecha metukin?
Harei peirotecha metukin.
Sheyehe tzilcha naeh?
Harei tzilcha naeh.
Eleh yehi ratzon shekol netiotecha yihiyu kemotecha.
אילן במה אברכך, שיהיו פירותיך מתוקין, הרי פירתיך מתוקין, שיהא צילך נאה, הרי צלך נאה. אלא יהי רצון שכל נטיעותיך יהיו כמותך.

Translation:

Tree, tree, wherewith can I bless thee? That thy fruit may be sweet--it is already sweet; that thou shouldst afford plenty of shade--that also thou dost; that a spring may be near thee--even that thou hast. The one thing left me which I can wish for thee is, that all trees planted from thy seed may be as fruitful as thou art.

Translation by Michael L. Rodkinson, from his 1918 translation of the Babylonian Talmud (in the public domain).

Information:

Lyrics: Gemara Ta'anis(5b-6a)

Robin,

A father wanted to teach his 11-year-old daughter the importance of the Holocaust, so he took her to Yad Vashem, the memorial to the 11 million victims resulting from the attempt to eradicate the Jewish people.

During her time at the memorial, the daughter was struck by the section commemorating the Warsaw Ghetto, a place where Jewish children, after their parents had been taken away to the death camps, froze, died of starvation, or were shot by Nazi soldiers.

The little girl stared at the death and destruction and, as she exited the memorial, wrote these words in the guestbook, "Why didn't somebody do something?"

That little girl was Mike Huckabee's daughter, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who today serves as the White House Press Secretary.

What do you think: does the world need more courageous women like Sarah Huckabee Sanders?

Modern day feminism keeps insisting that women have to choose between having a career and having a family, but Sarah Huckabee Sanders is proof that that's a false dichotomy: as a wife, a mother of three, and an excellent White House Press Secretary, she proves a woman can do whatever she puts her mind to!

Juggling all of these difficult jobs isn't easy, but Sarah Huckabee Sanders draws strength from the support of her husband Bryan, her extended family (like Mike!), and her strong faith in God.

Let us know: Would our culture benefit from encouraging more women to balance a family with a career, trusting on God and family to help them succeed?

Make your voice heard today by taking our poll and sharing your comments as to whether we should push back against the lies of feminism by teaching women that they can be anything they aspire to be!

TAKE THE POLL

Sincerely,

Huckabee
