Judaism and the American Founding Fathers

By Prof. Paul Eidelberg

Although many of the framers of the American Constitution were not devout, their political mentality was shaped in universities whose curriculum was based very much on Jewish ideas, which is not to say they were not influenced by the writings of Locke and Montesquieu.

The curriculum at Harvard, like those of other early American colleges and universities, was designed by men of "Old Testament" persuasion.  Many New England divines agreed with President Samuel Langdon of Harvard when he declared, in his election sermon of 1775, that "the Jewish government, according to the original constitution which was divinely established, if considered merely in a civil view, was a perfect republic."

Harvard graduate John Adams, the second president of the United States said: "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.  It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

Hebrew and the study of Hebraic laws and institutions were an integral part of Yale University's curriculum. Yale president Ezra Stiles, who readily discoursed with visiting rabbinical authorities on the Mishna and Talmud, held that  the American Constitution was based on the Ten Commandments.

Hebraic civilization was an integral part of the curriculum of the Princeton University (formerly the College of New Jersey), James Madison's alma mater.  The same may be said of  Columbia University (formerly Kings College), Alexander Hamilton's alma mater.  The curriculum's of William and Mary, Rutgers, Dartmouth, and Brown University also stressed Hebraic studies.

The Capital Laws of New England included the "Seven Noahide Laws" of the Torah—the seven universal laws of morality, which, in addition to prohibiting idolatry, blasphemy, murder, robbery, immorality, and eating flesh from a living animal, requires the establishment of courts of justice to ensure the rule of reason as opposed to unruly passions.

The Seven Noahide Laws (together with their particular branches) comprised America's "genial orthodoxy."  This genial orthodoxy transcends the social or economic distinctions among men:  it holds all men equal before the law.  By so doing it places constraints on governors and governed alike and thereby habituated Americans to the rule of law.  This Hebraic orthodoxy moderated the demands of various groups, helped coordinate their diverse interests and talents, and thereby contributed to America's growth and prosperity.

Strange as it may seem, the Seven Noahide Laws were incorporated in Public Law 102-14, which established March 26, 1991 as "Education Day"!  What presumably saves this Congressional joint resolution from violating the First Amendment is its silence about the Hebraic origin of the Noahide code.

The First Amendment states, in part: "Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion …"  This clause is widely and grossly misconstrued by contemporary liberals.  It was intended not to prevent Congress from enacting laws supportive of religion, but to prohibit Congress from establishing a state or national religion.  In his "Farewell Address," George Washington declared:

Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, Religion and morality are indispensable supports…. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that National morality can prevail in the exclusion of religious principle.

James Madison and Alexander Hamilton are credited with having drafted the Farewell Address.  These statesmen regarded America as a Christian nation.  But given the variety of Christian sects in this country, they deemed it essential to political freedom and self-government to preclude any one sect from having constitutional primacy.

Their rejecting an ecclesiastically based system of governance does not mean they advocated the absolute separation of religion and state—the meaning dogmatic liberals now attribute to the First Amendment.

Of course, America has come a long way from those great statesmen as well as from their great educators.  A narrow liberalism permeates the mentality of America's ruling elites, and moral relativism dominates the universities in which they have been educated.

Ironic that America became great having been founded very much on Jewish ideas, whereas Israel is now steeped in mediocrity having been founded on gentile ideas!

A Jewish Solution to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
Or How to Induce Arabs to Leave

Prof. Paul Eidelberg

Preliminary Remarks

No one should be surprised by the findings of the Pew Research Center's study of Israeli attitudes. PEW, which released its findings on March 8, 2016, asked respondents whether they agreed that "Arabs should be expelled or transferred from Israel." Forty-eight percent of Israeli Jews agreed, while 46 percent did not. Among self-described right-wing Jews, 72 percent agreed, along with 71 percent of religious Zionists.

The PEW study prompts me to reproduce what I have termed "A Jewish Solution to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict."  The key issue is the status of the Arabs residing in Judea and Samaria. It's obvious that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not deem it "realistic" to declare Jewish sovereignty over this ancient Jewish land misleadingly called the "West Bank."  Indeed, on June 14, 2009, he endorsed the creation of a Palestinian state in this heartland of the Jewish people.
However, since Netanyahu has vacillated on the "two state solution," it's obvious he lacks the intellectual creativity and stamina to construct and pursue an alternative.  What most thwarts bogus realists like Netanyahu is that they have no idea of what to do about the Arab-Muslims in Judea and Samaria. Since these enemies of Israel will not leave voluntarily – why should they? – when they not only enjoy the freedom and amenities of Israel, but are also paid to kill Jews thanks to the annual subsidies of hundreds of millions of dollars from the United States!
Therefore, the only way to solve this Israeli-Palestinian conflict is to make Israel increasingly Jewish, on the one hand, and to make its Government more accountable to the Jewish national ideas and values on the other!  This will result in a steady emigration of Muslim Arabs.  How can this be accomplished?

● Translate into geostrategic reality the groundbreaking study conducted by the American-Israel Demographic Research Group (AIDRG). This study revealed that such is the increase of Jewish fertility rates and the decline of Arab fertility that Israel does not need to retreat from Judea and Samaria to secure Jewish demography.  The study shows a solid 67% Jewish majority with Judea and Samaria.
● The same study also advises Israel to scrap her parliamentary electoral system (which the present writer has recommended during the past twenty years). The existing dysfunctional system makes the entire country a single district in which parties compete on the basis of Proportional Representation PR). The AIDRG study recommends a multi-district or geographic constituency electoral system. The study recommends the Interior Ministry's administrative partition of the country. It shows that with constituency or regional elections, Jews will form large majorities in every administrative district in the country except the northern district, where Arabs comprise a bare 52% majority. The internal migration of about 50,000 Jews to the North would overturn that majority.

● This writer would go even further. Bearing in mind that nascent Israel, without any infrastructure, absorbed almost a million Jews in the first few years after her rebirth in 1948, a new and creative Israeli Government, animated by proud and not pathetic Jewish identity, should undertake a seven-year program to absorb an average of 70,000 Jewish immigrants per annum to salvage the Jewish population in an increasingly Islamized Europe.
● To accommodate this influx of Jews, the Government should declare Jewish sovereignty over Judea and Samaria. Related to this measure, the Government should pass a Homestead Act and sell small plots of this Jewish land at low prices to Jews in Israel and abroad with the proviso that they settle on the land, say for a period of seven years. (This will diminish the strategically vulnerable concentration of Jews on Israel's coastal plain.)
● The seven-year influx of 490,000 Jews into Judea and Samaria will result in a steady emigration of Arabs.
● Further, making MKs accountable to the voters in constituency elections will not only make the Knesset more democratic. It will simultaneously increase the impact of Jewish convictions on those who make the laws and policies of the State!
 ● Since 70 percent of Israel's Jewish population consists of Jews who identify with the Jewish heritage, making MKs accountable to the voters in constituency elections will bury the idea of any territorial withdrawal and the creation of a Palestinian state.
● Moreover, phase out U.S. military assistance to Israel and thereby reduce to insignificance U.S. interference in Israel-Arab affairs.
Making Israel more Jewish by means of democratic principles, and making Israel more democratic by means of Jewish principles – this, I contend, is the only realistic way of inducing Arabs to leave voluntarily and thereby solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.  (Of course, the Arabs should be given generous travel expenses for the purpose, plus a grant of dollars to encourage their reception in the Muslim country of their destination.)☼

Military Prosecution Appeals Elor Azaria’s ‘Light’ SentenceThe Jewish Press | David Israel | 9 Adar 5777 – March 7, 2017 | JewishPress.com

Bsd

We are all Elor Azarya!

In solidarity, This Purim there is a contest for who can be dressed up as  the best Elor Azarya? The winner will be awarded a prize.

This year there will be a Nahafoch Hu!  Jewish Children will want to dress up an emulate a Jewish Soldier who neutralized a Terrorist! Instead of the usual Palestinian child who is taught to emulate and glorify the Terrorist.

Where is Moral Clarity? Moral Clarity only comes from Torah

bs"d

Straight forward and common sense Halachot. Rabbi David Bar-Hayim brings concrete examples of situations where the failure to kill the terrorist had fatal consequences.

The Mitzvah of Killing the Enemy- Interview with Rabbi David Bar-Hayim https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gm1ZRyYQ3Mk

It seems pretty obvious that prosecuting a Chayal for neutralizing a terrorist will demoralize the IDF.

I hope and pray that not only will Elor Azarya be pardoned and also that the leadership in the Israeli military who have lost their vision to differentiate between good and evil, between politics and defending the country, are retired asap!
