Klinghoffer Protest: A Golden Opportunity to speak out for Israel's right for Judea and Samaria based on G-d and being Chosen People as G-d's conduit to bring good into the world in answer to their idea of a Caliphate

More on the focus of the Klinghoffer Protest.....

Many righteous Noahides are in total agreement with the subject line above.  Bible Believers believe that those that Bless Israel will be Blessed!  Judea and Samaria is Israel's Biblical heartland and Israel is our homeland. It's in the Torah, in our prayers, in our hopes and innermost wants and desires. Proud and committed Jews, even when they do not religiously read the Bible, feel it deep in their soul. Those who religiously read the Bible and are Bible believers, surely agree... well at least I would hope so.... and if they do not admit it, it's because they are afraid to....

There are many involved in the organization of the Klinghoffer Protest who argue to take out the Israel element and focus on the humanization of acts of terror.

Let us address this position:  

If everyone spoke the same language and actually agreed that the terrorist hijackers were indeed terrorists than protesting against humanizing terrorists would work.  However, even though we know they are terrorists,  the other side doesn't. In fact they believe that the Palestinians who hijacked the cruise liner Achille Lauro indeed are honorable freedom resistance fighters and Klinghoffer and Jews are the evil ones (who perhaps are equivalent to terrorists themselves).  So if Klinghoffer is really a terrorist by the fact that he is a Jew and Jews victimize and rape etc. Klinghoffer and all Jews for that matter, really don't deserve to live.

It does acknowledge that children are trained as martyrs. Fact: They use children,  their own children as well, as human shields. They put their children in the War Zone.  There were 160 deaths of Palestinian children, because they were put to work building the terror tunnels in Gaza.  No surprise!  http://www.nationalreview.com/article/384004/child-labor-deaths-hamas-tunnels-are-no-surprise-spencer-case.  Yet the audience only sees loving families being thrown out mercilessly from their homes. Fact: 1948 was a just War that Israel won.  These "freedom fighters" are portrayed in a very human light after they commit this horrific act of shooting Klinghoffer and throwing him overboard alive because we can sympathize with his wife in her grief. There is no outrage by the Captain for this terror attack.  He sympathizes with her as he does with the hijackers. Isn't this proof that indeed they are humane? 

Therefore, this protest must be an education as per whether or not these terrorists are actually honorable freedom fighters or terrorists. If the Opera convinces the audience that they are honorable freedom fighters then they can succeed in making them appear humane and evoke sympathy from the audience. But because this opera offers no real information to the audience that indeed these terrorists are not  honorable freedom fighter against the "evil Jewish Occupation" and in fact the accompanying music and lyrics portray the hijackers as honorable freedom fighters, they succeed in convincing the audience that indeed they are humane.  

In conclusion: We can not run the protest with a given that everyone understands that these guys are terrorists.   

That is why we need to claim that Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem, especially Temple Mount, is G-d's gift to the Jewish people! The Palestinians have no claim to Our Land. So not only are they trying to steal the Land from the Jews against G-d's Word, they are not freedom fighters and they commit horrific terror acts and defend their decision based on a lie.

 http://www.jewishpress.com/news/breaking-news/financing-of-klinghoffer-opera-anonymous-financing-of-protest-isnt/2014/10/06/, who funded the September 22nd protest, for notifying us about the quarter page ad in today's New York Times with the heading "decide for yourself".  "Obviously" Weiss writes,  "they are trying to fool the public into believing that there are two sides to the opera, whereas the truth is purely one sided; anti-Semitism by glorifying the terrorists and demonizing the Jews."


And indeed, many in  the audience are indeed fooled. Surely this is opera at its best  as Peter Gelb, the General Manager at the Met argues.  Please let him know otherwise. (212)799-3100 ext 2840 email pgelb@metropera.org It is not "moving and nuanced" nor an assertion of "artistic freedom".  

Obviously the Met is confident that after seeing this opera, you will not sense any clear evidence of any blatant anti-semitism. They are brazen to even suggest "decide for yourself".  Obviously then, they clearly take the position that these are "freedom fighters" and not terrorists.  

Conclusion: We can not take the Israel element out of this Klinghoffer Protest. It is  about Israel and the illegal, anti Bible, untruthful, immoral Palestinian claim to the Land of Israel.  

Let me quote from the Libretto, how the terrorist barbarians who slaughter Leon Klinghoffer, an innocent wheelchair-bound Jewish man, sing of of themselves: 

"We are soldiers fighting a war.  We are not criminals and we are not vandals but men of ideals".... "This is a demonstration Action for liberation:Our fifty companions Held in Israeli prisons". Mamoud the terrorist sings: 
"It was not I
Driven away,
But my mother
Who could not remember
What happened to her.
She only said
“There was a raid.
My uncle carried
Me in his coat.
He never thought
We would be
More than a day.”

She said God would
Restore threefold
All we had called
Ours. She was killed
With the old men
And children in
Camps at Sabra
And Chatila 
Where Almighty God
In His mercy showed
My decapitated
Brother to me
And in His mercy
Allowed me to close
My brother’s eyes And wipe his face"

 By inference the audience assumes that his family, women and children were brutally murdered in Sabra and Chatila and his brother was decapitated by Israel! Yes Israel has been blamed for Sabra and Chatila. Not for committing gruesome murder but rather for not intervening to stop the massacre. 

 The next scene is a hijacked version of the Bible. The story of Hagar and Yishmael. 

 Act 2

 CHORUS: HAGAR AND THE ANGEL
When Hagar was led into the wilderness
With some bread and a bottle of water and her 
son
The Lord consoled Abraham, saying
“Of this child too I will make a nation”.
It may be for this reason that our father turned
And set his face toward his tents. It was early 
in the day.

Every few miles she stopped to rinse her mouth

And give the child the breast. She was like one
Who walks across a room in a shuttered house

Naked and unwatched. She was newly manu-
mitted.
For a long time after the bottle was empty
Hagar had milk for her son, and he nodded
On her shoulder. For a long time
After the boy looked at her and began crying

She carried him. When he was so weak

 That she had to bend her head to hear him
She said “My son will die as a free man
On his own land”, and put him down, and turned 
her back.

Then the angel struck open the abandoned well."

 Let us compare this false version of the Biblical story with the real version.

 Breishis Genesis 17:18

18. And Abraham said to God, "If only Ishmael will live before You!" יח. וַיֹּאמֶר אַבְרָהָם אֶל הָאֱלֹהִים לוּ יִשְׁמָעֵאל יִחְיֶה לְפָנֶיךָ:
19. And God said, "Indeed, your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you shall name him Isaac, and I will establish My covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his seed after him. יט. וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים אֲבָל שָׂרָה אִשְׁתְּךָ יֹלֶדֶת לְךָ בֵּן וְקָרָאתָ אֶת שְׁמוֹ יִצְחָק וַהֲקִמֹתִי אֶת בְּרִיתִי אִתּוֹ לִבְרִית עוֹלָם לְזַרְעוֹ אַחֲרָיו:
20. And regarding Ishmael, I have heard you; behold I have blessed him, and I will make him fruitful, and I will multiply him exceedingly; he will beget twelve princes, and I will make him into a great nation. כ. וּלְיִשְׁמָעֵאל שְׁמַעְתִּיךָ הִנֵּה | בֵּרַכְתִּי אֹתוֹ וְהִפְרֵיתִי אֹתוֹ וְהִרְבֵּיתִי אֹתוֹ בִּמְאֹד מְאֹד שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר נְשִׂיאִם יוֹלִיד וּנְתַתִּיו לְגוֹי גָּדוֹל:

21. But My covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you at this time next year." כא. וְאֶת בְּרִיתִי אָקִים אֶת יִצְחָק אֲשֶׁר תֵּלֵד לְךָ שָׂרָה לַמּוֹעֵד הַזֶּה בַּשָּׁנָה הָאַחֶרֶת:

 Breishit Chapter 21:

9. And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, making merry. ט. וַתֵּרֶא שָׂרָה אֶת בֶּן הָגָר הַמִּצְרִית אֲשֶׁר יָלְדָה לְאַבְרָהָם מְצַחֵק:
10. And Sarah said to Abraham, "Drive out this handmaid and her son, for the son of this handmaid shall not inherit with my son, with Isaac." י. וַתֹּאמֶר לְאַבְרָהָם גָּרֵשׁ הָאָמָה הַזֹּאת וְאֶת בְּנָהּ כִּי לֹא יִירַשׁ בֶּן הָאָמָה הַזֹּאת עִם בְּנִי עִם יִצְחָק:
11. But the matter greatly displeased Abraham, concerning his son. יא. וַיֵּרַע הַדָּבָר מְאֹד בְּעֵינֵי אַבְרָהָם עַל אוֹדֹת בְּנוֹ:
12. And God said to Abraham, "Be not displeased concerning the lad and concerning your handmaid; whatever Sarah tells you, hearken to her voice, for in Isaac will be called your seed. יב. וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים אֶל אַבְרָהָם אַל יֵרַע בְּעֵינֶיךָ עַל הַנַּעַר וְעַל אֲמָתֶךָ כֹּל אֲשֶׁר תֹּאמַר אֵלֶיךָ שָׂרָה שְׁמַע בְּקֹלָהּ כִּי בְיִצְחָק יִקָּרֵא לְךָ זָרַע:

And Abraham arose early in the morning, and he took bread and a leather pouch of water, and he gave [them] to Hagar, he placed [them] on her shoulder, and the child, and he sent her away; and she went and wandered in the desert of Beer sheba. יד. וַיַּשְׁכֵּם אַבְרָהָם | בַּבֹּקֶר וַיִּקַּח לֶחֶם וְחֵמַת מַיִם וַיִּתֵּן אֶל הָגָר שָׂם עַל שִׁכְמָהּ וְאֶת הַיֶּלֶד וַיְשַׁלְּחֶהָ וַתֵּלֶךְ וַתֵּתַע בְּמִדְבַּר בְּאֵר שָׁבַע:
15. And the water was depleted from the leather pouch, and she cast the child under one of the bushes. טו. וַיִּכְלוּ הַמַּיִם מִן הַחֵמֶת וַתַּשְׁלֵךְ אֶת הַיֶּלֶד תַּחַת אַחַד הַשִּׂיחִם:
16. And she went and sat down from afar, at about the distance of two bowshots, for she said, "Let me not see the child's death." And she sat from afar, and she raised her voice and wept. טז. וַתֵּלֶךְ וַתֵּשֶׁב לָהּ מִנֶּגֶד הַרְחֵק כִּמְטַחֲוֵי קֶשֶׁת כִּי אָמְרָה אַל אֶרְאֶה בְּמוֹת הַיָּלֶד וַתֵּשֶׁב מִנֶּגֶד וַתִּשָּׂא אֶת קֹלָהּ וַתֵּבְךְּ:
17. And God heard the lad's voice, and an angel of God called to Hagar from heaven, and said to her, "What is troubling you, Hagar? Fear not, for God has heard the lad's voice in the place where he is. יז. וַיִּשְׁמַע אֱלֹהִים אֶת קוֹל הַנַּעַר וַיִּקְרָא מַלְאַךְ אֱלֹהִים | אֶל הָגָר מִן הַשָּׁמַיִם וַיֹּאמֶר לָהּ מַה לָּךְ הָגָר אַל תִּירְאִי כִּי שָׁמַע אֱלֹהִים אֶל קוֹל הַנַּעַר בַּאֲשֶׁר הוּא שָׁם:

18. Rise, pick up the lad and grasp your hand upon him, for I shall make him into a great nation." יח. קוּמִי שְׂאִי אֶת הַנַּעַר וְהַחֲזִיקִי אֶת יָדֵךְ בּוֹ כִּי לְגוֹי גָּדוֹל אֲשִׂימֶנּוּ:

 According to the Bible only Abraham's son Isaac inherits the birthright of Israel. Not Yishmael (or Esav for that matter).. 

What is clear is that these terrorists were sent by Abu Abbas a leader of the PLF (Palestinian Liberation Front). They are out to Liberate Palestine from Israel the "Occupiers" and they want to free their fellow terrorists sitting in Israeli Jail by kidnapping and taking hostages. 

Let me give you a Mashal, a Hebrew word for parable. 

 Let's say you allow a homeless person into your basement.  He soon trashes it.  You ask him to leave politely.  He demands the whole house. You negotiate.  He agrees that you can have rights to the kitchen as long as you don't cook.  You object. He threatens to kill you because you are occupying his house.  

He invites his friends into the basement who are worse then him and they make your life miserable.  They need more room....The basement isn't enough. 

Is he just a terrorist or has he become one because you fail to assert your ownership and you allow yourself to be bullied and allow him control over your house?  

If the house belongs to him as he claims then, he has every right in the world to demand the whole house, invite friends and you have no right to the kitchen let alone cook. Try to convince the world that you have rights to cook when you don't assert your right to your home.  

But Klinghoffer is not even an Israeli you argue.  He is a helpless disabled person. How can they do that to a defenseless helpless man.   

Yes but from their perspective it's the context.  He is a Jew and that means he must be a supporter of Israel. And Israel is evil and an occupier of Palestinian Land. and that gives them the right to kill him as well.  They are fighting a noble cause. 

Let us be clear.  This is very important.  The act of terror one commits does not define it as an act of terror.. It's the context.  Because if Israel murders an innocent child it is justified if this child is a human shield and is protecting an arsenal of rockets aimed at her kindergartens.  

This Opera is evil because it convinces or tries to convince the audience that hijackers are heroic resistance fighters. 

Therefore, we need to address their moral high ground.  This is a theological war and we need to address it as such.   By not doing so, they are talking apples and we are talking oranges.  They are talking G-d (Allah), religion(Islam) and what they consider is moral and we aren't. Why aren't we speaking up?  

Because we are now afraid.  Even the government of Israel is afraid to speak truth.  Netanyahu says he wants a 2 State Solution. He wants "peace".  In their language a "Two State Solution" leads to peace.  We know and he knows and they know he really deep down knows that this is impossible.  But he is afraid to speak the truth. But he has to prove to the world he means what he says. After all we have to show the world that we are "truthful".  So the settlers consistently pay the price.  If only he can speak real words of truth he wouldn't have to back untruths with facts on the ground and immoral libel and aggressive actions against the Settlers.  Settler now have to be demonized and marginalized as the "Obstacle to Peace". Price Tag Settlers is a new phenomenon.  Any attempt at self defense on the part of Jewish settlers is now an act of aggression and unchecked Messianic vengeance. If you are a Jewish settler than you are against peace. 

 They have hijacked our Bible. They have hijacked our G-d. They have hijacked our language.  

Now when we hear the term "Human rights" we think of violators of human rights.  (United Nations Human Rights Council has membership with the worst human rights abuses)

When they talk of their G-d (Allah) and religion (Islam) they often are talking about fanaticism and totalitarianism and not religion 

and when they speak about "peace" they are really talking about war.  

Freedom fighters are terrorists etc.

 So this causes us to refrain from talking about true "human rights", "God" and "peace" in fear that our words will be misunderstood and misconstrued.  

This brings us to a discussion about the evil tactics and strategy of our enemy.  

Our enemies use the fact that Israel and Jews value life. We value our good name. We abhor killing innocent people. 

This knowledge is their strongest weapon against us and they use this as a tool for terror against us.

After all they are terrorists. 

They have learned that Israel will stop at no lengths to negotiate the release of Israeli prisoners. 

Terror pays. Literally.

 This is the reality.  Israel doesn't usually kill terrorists but gives them life sentences or multiple life sentences.  They hijacked the Achille Lauro to get hostages to exchange terrorist Samir Kuntar sitting in Israeli Jail.  Kuntar received 5 life sentences for murdering 5 people. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samir_Kuntar During his imprisonment, Kuntar married Kifah Kayyal (born in 1963), an Israeli Arab woman who is an activist on behalf of militant prisoners. They later divorced. While they were married, she received a monthly stipend from the Israeli government, an entitlement due to her status as a wife of a prisoner.[19] Kayyal is an Israeli citizen of Palestinian origin from Acre, now residing in Ramallah, who was then serving a life sentence for her activities in the Palestine Liberation Front.[24] They had no children. In addition, while in prison Kuntar participated in a program under which Palestinian security prisoners took online courses from the Open University of Israel, and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Social and Political Science.[25]  Many soldiers, civilians were kidnapped, dead and alive and then used as pawns in negotiations to release Kuntar. Wars were fought on his behalf where more than a thousand people were killed, finally he is released in a prisoner exchange only to receive a hero's welcome and to announce that he wants to kill more Jews.   This is not only Kuntar.

Terrorist families receive comfortable salaries, they are glorified. Streets are named after them. UN camps teach their campers that these are heroes and they set an example of how to be a martyr, a Shaheed or Shaheeda (female Shahid) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shahid ...

And they know our aversion to acting or perceived to act in a cruel fashion even when warranted. They know it goes against our very nature and our self and world view that Jews are a moral and compassionate people.

That is why kidnappings and hijackings are successful as are their use of human shields. From their perspective, It has been a proven successful strategy time and time again. And we feed into it by continuing to release terrorists and thwart military operations due to our concern not to strike civilian targets and we negotiate with them! 

Just this past year the kidnappings of the 3 boys and the dead soldiers (Hadar Goldin...) were more links into this chain of pathology. Operation Protective Edge was triggered by this pathology and fought according to this pathology to a certain extent.  It took many of our best boys as sacrifices to learn that we can not play into their hands....

To summarize: The pattern is more or less as follows: 
 "Peace"  agreements leads to the following:

  • Forces Israel's hand into territorial concessions, 
  • Release of terrorists, 
  • Expulsions, harassment of Jews from their homes (model communities, leading peaceful lives, productive in every sense).

This is a vicious cycle which then leads to 
  • more terror attacks/ kidnappings  
  • War
  • This then leads to more peace agreements before the enemy is defeated, weapons not destroyed and Jewish/ Israeli prisoners are used in pawns in Peace Negotiations which leads to more release of terrorists, acts of terror  which triggers war etc.  

1978 Camp David accords led to: (list of examples are not at all comprehensive)
  • 1979 Nahariya terror attack,  Samir Kuntar taken prisoner. Terror attack in reaction to peace accords at Camp David by Abu Abbas FATAH. 
  • 3 years removal of settlements from Sinai Peninusula including Yamit. 
  • 1982  Lebanon War 
  • 1985 Achille Lauro Hijacking staged to get hostages to free Samir Kuntar,  
  • 1991 Madrid Conference
  • 1992 Hamas attacks
  • 1993 Oslo Accords (based on Camp David)
  • 1995 Oslo Accords II Taba
  • 2000 Hezbollah cross border raid kidnapping 3 soldiers, 
  • 2003, 400 prisoners released in exchange of Elchanan Tannnenbaum and 3 Kidnapped dead soldiers, 
  • 2005 July Gush Katif expulsion
  • 2006, June 25 Shalit was captured by Hamas militants in a cross-border raid via underground tunnels near the Israeli border. Hamas held him captive for over five years, 
  • 2006 July 12 Hezbollah kidnapping 2 soldiers 
  • 2006 followed by Israel-Hezbollah War in Lebanon
  • 2007 Annapolis Peace Conference
  • Judea and Samari settlement marginalized
  • Talks of Dividing Jerusalem
  •  2011 Gilad Shalit released as part of Prisoner exchange
  • July 2013 Violent expulsion at Amona
  • April 2014 Talk of  Unity Gov't with Hamas and Fatah 
  • 2014 June 12 3 boys kidnapped Gilad Ayal Naftali massiveTunnel network discovered, thwarts Rosh Hashana attack
  • 2014 July 8, Operation Protective Edge

Samir Kuntar with 5 life sentences is now a free man all set to go for more acts of terror against Israel. 

 Israel has lost too many of its innocent civilians and  gone to too many wars as a result of our inability to fight against their "weapons".  They then use uplifting music to glorify terror and terrorists.  They use our desire for peace, civility and decorum to silence our message so they are free to spread their venomous message of hate and lies calling themselves "heroic resistance fighters" against the Israeli "occupation".   .

  1. The current situation in Israel is such that the duty to protest falls squarely on the shoulders of the Rabbis. This obligation falls upon all Rabbis who arbitrate practical matters of Jewish law, and especially those Rabbis who have at one time expressed an opinion on this issue, no matter where they are — whether in Israel or in the Diaspora.
  2. The ruling must be explicit and definitive, being the result of exhaustive consultation withpresent military authorities who have actual firsthand knowledge about these issues, and who express their opinions through purely security-oriented considerations, and not political ones.
    In order to save the Rabbis the trouble of researching the issues which are required for a ruling, the Rebbe informs us that he has already investigated the matter, and the conclusions are:
    1. Those involved in military affairs say that surrendering any portion of the West Bank and Gaza, places untold numbers of Jews in danger, G-d forbid.
    2. The past is well known (e.g., Golda Meir not listening to the Israeli Military Intelligence prior to Yom Kippur War).
  3. A ruling must be issued quickly, and a Rabbi must not wait until he is asked about the matter. Rather, he must see to it that the law is publicized everywhere — to the extent that "there will not be a single individual who has not heard of this ruling." This is because regarding these matters, "he who asks (rather than acts) is a spiller of blood, and the one who waits to be asked is contemptible" for not having publicized his opinion.[35]
  4. Similarly, one should publicize the decision of the "Great Assembly" of 1937 [36] which states that "it is forbidden to cede to a non-Jew, even a tiny strip of the Land of Israel." This should be publicised until the entire Jewish people are aware of this ruling.
  5. Every Jew, regardless of where he lives, is connected with every other Jews in the rest of the world. Therefore, according to Jewish law, he must protest any action taken by another Jew which is not in accordance with Jewish Law. Protest is required even if the forbidden action took place a great distance from him — because he is still obligated by the command, "Thou shalt not stand idly by thy brother's blood."
  6. At times the situation is such that there is nothing left to do but to protest. This is a precise indication that our task in this situation is to protest.
  7. The claim that protest will not affect the situation does not absolve any of the Rabbis, no matter where they are, from their obligation to publicize a clear ruling because:
    1. Who knows where we would be if no one were to speak up.
    2. Regarding the mitzvah to admonish one's fellow man, the Talmud says, "even one hundred times," meaning, if one unsuccessfully gave rebuke ninety-nine times, one is bound by Jewish law to engage in rebuke a hundredth time, for it could well be that the hundredth time will be decisive.
    3. The Rabbi must do his job and protest without fear, and without considering the reaction which may follow his ruling (such as being ignored); especially because this is an ongoing matter, which concerns saving Jewish lives.
    4. The obligation not to stand idly by while your brother's blood is being spilled, applies in every situation, even when one is uncertain that his protest will have any effect. Even if the chance that protest will assist is only one thousandth of a chance, or a fraction of that, one is obligated to protest, because this is the law in the Code of Jewish Law.
  8. Even if the majority remain silent, and those protesting are in the minority, nevertheless, the minority is taken into consideration.
  9. The Rabbis who remain silent cause the greatest damage. This is analagous to the Talmudic law concerning seventy Rabbinic judges who rule for or against a certain side, with one judge "abstaining." In such a case, Jewish Law requires the entire trial to be rendered null and void.
  10. The Rebbe's opinion is that were there to be a sustained protest, carried out with the greatest intensity — as the present situation clearly demands — it would eventually succeed, in the near future.

 If we don't act and do our part, how will we defend ourselves in the Heavenly Court? Had those who saw the harbinger of evil in the 1930's acted, perhaps they could have prevented a Holocaust!!!! It is not for us to speculate except to do what we can this time around.  May G-d Protect us......

Wheelchair Convoy At The Metropolitan Opera - Another Rally on October 20 - We Are All Klinghoffer!!

We are writing to inform you about an ongoing issue of concern with which we need your help.

As you are aware, this summer Jews around the world have experienced an upsurge in anti-Semitic rhetoric and action that has left many of us reeling and questioning how such events could be happening in 2014. As American Jews, many of us have come to think of anti-Semitism largely as an issue of another time or place.

However, our complacency has been shattered, not only by events abroad, but by a particularly heinous example of anti-Semitic rhetoric and the blurring of moral lines in one of America's most prestigious bastions of high culture -- the New York Metropolitan Opera. Many in our community have not heard about this issue, and have asked "Why weren't we told?" We feel it is our responsibility to let you know what is happening and the steps the community has taken to counter it.

The Metropolitan Opera has chosen to mount a production of "The Death of Klinghoffer," an opera that seeks to validate and excuse the murder of Leon Klinghoffer, and to humanize his murderers. As you may recall, in 1985 the Palestine Liberation Front, under the direction of Yasser Arafat, hijacked the cruise ship, Achille Lauro. Leon Klinghoffer, 69 years old and wheelchair-bound, was shot in the forehead and chest and thrown overboard in his wheelchair, simply because he was a Jew.

This month, the Metropolitan Opera is airing a production of an operatic account of the murder that paints the terrorists as freedom fighters and as "men of ideals." 

In the libretto (text of an opera) one of the terrorists sings: 
 

"Wherever poor men are gathered they can find Jews getting fat--You know how to cheat the simple, exploit the virgin, pollute where you have exploited--Defame those you cheated--And break your own law with idolatry."


He tells Klinghoffer: "America is one big Jew."

This is not portrayed as the ranting of someone who is evil. If that were the context of this hate speech, it would be justified. Rather, this is the language of someone depicted as an idealistic victim of Jews, justified in fighting back against his Jewish oppressors. He is a terrorist, yet the terrorists in the opera are portrayed as freedom fighters. In the language of the Palestinian terrorists: 
 

"We are soldiers fighting a war. We are not criminals and we are not vandals but men of ideals."


Despite many months of campaigning by Jewish and non-Jewish organizations alike, the Met has refused to cancel the Opera at Lincoln Center, agreeing only to cancel HD simulcasts. They are backed in their production of propaganda masquerading as art by the New York Times and the New Yorker magazine. Under the pretense of defending artistic freedom, these institutions have blurred the line between good and evil, reducing a horrendous terrorist atrocity to what they have labeled a mere "tragedy" and equalizing the moral claims of perpetrator and victim.

A series of letter writing efforts and phone calls to the Met Board and important donors was launched along with a campaign of emails and phone calls to Met director Peter Gelb. These efforts culminated in a mass demonstration on September 22, 2014 at Lincoln Center. Despite the presence of important Jewish and non-Jewish leaders, local politicians and what many of the news accounts have estimated at between 1,000 - 2,000 demonstrators, the Met has not backed down. They insist on presenting an opera that the New York Times has called "moving and nuanced in imagining a tragedy that gives voice to all sides," despite its offensive, distorted and inflammatory content.

Friends, this is the same distorted moral prism that gives rise to attacks like 9/11, the blatant use of human shields, and the beheading of innocent journalists. We cannot let this distortion go unchallenged.

We will rally again, in force, on October 20, 2014 at 6:00 PM with a "100 Wheelchair Caravan" in front of the Metropolitan Opera, Lincoln Center, Broadway & West 65th Street, New York, New York, with wheelchair riders bearing signs proclaiming "We are all Klinghoffer!" This is the opening night of the Klinghoffer opera. We'll take care of the 100. If more than 100 wheelchair participants show up, all the better. We need your participation to either ride in a wheelchair or accompany the wheelchair riders. Let our numbers speak. Please consider attending the rally. Please forward this alert to your friends, neighbors and political representatives so they will know what is happening. Please urge your Rabbis and organizational leaders to support the rally vigorously.
