Zocher HaBrit - brainstorming an alternative to Netanyahu and Likud -Lessons of Parshat Shlach - all comments are welcome. Thanks

bs"d

The following email will address these points:
  1. Why I as an individual, not an elected official, living outside of Israel, dare to even suggest a solution that is way beyond my scope of influence and why you as a reader should even bother reading further.
  2. Why Jews and non Jews all over the world (not only in Israel) desperately need an alternative to Netanyahu and Likud?

Answers:

  1. Let me be honest. I am not a Knesset Member.  I am not an elected official. I presently live in the Diaspora. I don't have a bank account to speak about. I cannot influence with money.  I am not in a position of authority so I cannot threaten or actually fire anyone. However,  since I am not on a payroll, I cannot be fired. I trust that Hashem will provide for my needs and that I won't starve. This gives me the freedom to therefore think out of a box.
The advantage of not being a VIP (Very important person) is the freedom to ask the reader or listener to pay attention to what is being said rather than to who is saying it.   If after reading about an alternative to Netanyahu and Likud, this triggers a very negative response  please read again. Perhaps you hear rhetoric that angers you but actually isn't what is being said.  Allow me to clarify things in case you misunderstood.  Feel free to email me.  I am open to dialogue and welcome your perspective.

2.  Re: Netanyahu and Likud:  Netanyahu's stand regarding Iran is significantly weakened by his support for a 2 State Solution. How can it be that Iran is evil and the Palestinians a peace partner? They share the same anti Israel rhetoric.  Both have not been shy about their desire for Israel's destruction. Netanyahu's blatant disregard for the Bible has very strong repercussions that bring weakness to Israel.  By choosing this path he has seriously compromised our struggle against Iran's nuclear capabilities. This affects Jews and non Jews in Israel and in the Diaspora. It affects us all!

The Settlement Issue has been made a No. 1 concern according to EU's foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton.  She is the same woman who US President Barack Obama has empowered to lead the West's negotiations with Iran regarding its illicit nuclear weapons program.   The EU falsely considers Jewish settlement in  Judea and Samaria illegal.

Believers in the Bible are totally confused.  They believe Judea and Samaria is by right part of the Biblical Jewish Homeland and Israel's birthright.   Bible believers have strong representation in Congress and are Israel's greatest advocates.   Yet Netanyahu, by supporting a Palestinian State in the Biblical heartland, has weakened our collective voices SIGNIFICANTLY! Supporters of Israel dare not speak out against the "elected" head of the State of Israel.

There is another serious matter that must be addressed.  If Netanyahu is disregarding the Torah, how come the Jewish ultra religious MK's of religious parties in Israel, keepers of the Bible, aren't speaking firmly against the destruction of the settlements and in fact voted against the settlements?

Religious Jews have become confused, cynical or ignorant.  Majority of religious Jews in America are totally clueless about the vote of the Regulation Bill of the Settlements since it barely made the religious mainstream news.  The pending destruction of the homes of 30 families in HaUlpana is not on their radar.  It is not on the front page news though it should be. From our phone calls it seems to us that even influential RABBINIC LEADERS in America are ignorant about what is happening in Judea and Samaria.  They are unaware as per the serious ramifications of the failure of this important bill to pass and the news they are getting (or not getting) is heavily filtered by their Gabbaim. Are our emails considered spam and a waste of their time? We have been told as such.

Perhaps the forces out there do NOT want the public to know that one of their most respected Rabbinic Leaders  of Moetzet Gedolei Hatorah actually instructed the UTJ's MK's to vote against the Setttlement Regulation Bill  thereby setting very dangerous precedents for other communities. Surely this would not resonate well with the majority of religious Jews who were disgusted with the destruction of Jewish Communities in Gush Katif.  Better for people not to know.  This in turn translates to the silence of hundreds of thousands of religious Jews in Israel and in the Diaspora who follow the lead of Moetzet Gedolei Hatorah.

We want this Torah observant group of hundreds of thousands of Jews to be part of Zocher Habrit and we must not be afraid to challenge the position of religious leaders who discourage the masses from settling the Land of Israel as did the Spies in the desert.  With G-d's help we can avert certain tragedy when we learn to correct terrible mistakes of our past.

Zocher Habrit

We are proposing a new party that will represent Jews and Non-Jews.  A Party with a broader vision than Likud.  The name itself is a reminder to us of the Covenant G-d made with Noah and his descendants and the Covenant G-d made with Avraham, Yitzchok and Yaakov our forefathers.

How is this an improvement over the current Likud party?  Likud is a political party that never intended to represent a broader community of both Jews and Non Jews attracting faith based people using the Torah as its guide.

Let us not be afraid to try an alternative to Likud.  Feiglin is correct that a new party can not be just another faction representing a minority of religious Zionist Jews.

Will this new party coerce religion on the people?

The common denominator of this party is the Torah.  Just like there are 70 faces to Torah there is room for differences and diversity.    However, the people of Israel perhaps are not ready for a gov't based on Torah.  It is a revolutionary idea. Many unknowns.  Therefore, this party would encourage a small prototype gov't in Judea and Samaria to be run according to Torah while the rest of Israel would not have major changes to the way it is run today.  However, it would accept a  fundamental principle that Israel is a Holy Land, a  Promised Land to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob on condition that we must adhere to the principles and precepts of the Bible in the Holy Land.  The Noahides are instructed to adhere to the Seven Noahide laws.  Hebraic Law would be greatly valued, studied and incorporated into the legal system whenever possible.

Re: the Written and Oral Law:
Our Torah consists of the Written Law and the Oral Law. The Written Law is also referred to as the Five Books of Moses or the Bible. The Bible is a big seller, familiar to both Jew and non Jew alike.  One can find the Bible in every hotel room.

The Oral Law has been passed down from Moses at Sinai via an oral Tradition and was finally written down.  Both the Written and Oral law are necessary  and neither can operate independently of the other.  There needs to be a true union of the Written and Oral Law for the Torah to be implemented properly. Call it a marriage.

The Oral Law interprets the Written Law and determines how the Written Law is implemented.  This is called Halacha.  Often there are differences of opinion in the Oral Law.  This is perfectly fine.  The Written Law itself instructs us to go to a Rabbinic court of law of each generation to help solve disputes.  It is important that each community follow their Rabbi and a Rabbinic court, and their Rabbinic decisions are consistent with the Written Law. (The Five Books of Moses). Noahides as well are commanded to set up courts and abide by the 7 Noahide laws.

The Spirit of Hebron against those that Discourage the Jews from Settling the Land. Parshat Shlach replayed in the News

bs"d

Sadly, Mishpacha Magazine is taking their cue from the Miraglim in their front page cover this week Parashat Shlach....."RESIGNED to EXILE The would-be settlers of 2012 know that fighting their eviction is a losing proposition."  by Avi Friedman whereby the blurb describing the article reads "Seven years after the Gush Katif expulsion, a new group of families is facing eviction.  This time around, bitter resignation has replaced the fighting spirit, and the would-be settlers understand that fighting the State is a losing proposition".  Mr. Friedman writes:  " Looking out at the view from a small porch, Galit and Naftali Friedman try hard to project a sense of confidence in G-d's plan for them.  But (emphasis my own, sounds familiar from the Parsha?????) they can not hold their anxiety as the clock ticks down to July 1, the day the High Court has set for the eviction of the Ulpana Hilla and several other disputed outposts".

Surely anyone reading this article will feel a wave of discouragement going through their very souls.

Who asked Avi Friedman for his opinion?  (Unfortunately, the publisher and/or Editor of Mishpacha).

Upon seeing these headlines on the front page cover of Mishpacha Magazine, I reminded myself that WE ARE FORBIDDEN TO ACCEPT LASHON HARA even from our  Leaders who discourage settling the Land of Israel.  This holds true

Well obviously Avi Friedman is talking to the wrong people and getting his information from the wrong people.  Maybe he is influenced by Rav Shteinman who instructed UTJ Knesset members to vote against the Settlers in the recent Regulation Bill to normalize Ulpana.  Ein Chadash Tachat Hashemesh.

Let us take this as an opportunity to correct the Sin of the Spies and loudly protest any attempt to discourage the settlers!

The Jewish people must not accept this attitude of defeatism that caused Bechiya LeDorot, crying for all generations.  Arutz7, Mattot Arim and Komimyut emails clearly don't. They show the  fighting spirit side of the Settlers.  So let's report, and encourage the Settlers and their supporters who are taking their cue from Hebron and not the Spies!

We suggest that the publisher Eliyahu Paley and his entire staff including Editor in Chief Rav Moshe Grylak take a trip to Hebron.  And next time they publish an article about Settlers, they should use Rachel Ginsberg associate editor of Mishpacha Magazine, who started her career in Hebron writing for Counterforce.

Arutz7 has the right fighting spirit!

So do the people at Mattot Arim!

Same for the people at Kommiyut:

In their letter to their people(H) they described the two different approaches among the Settlers.  One approach, the way of the Yesha Council is to look at the short term goals of going from crisis to crisis and as they put it "sewing" a custom made garment for each settlement crisis trying to get out with minimal damage and maximum tactical gain.  The other approach, the approach much preferred by Kommimiyut which originated in Kfar Maimon in Gush Katif with those who aspired to a permanent solution rather than making deals that would endanger the entire settlement enterprise.  They are determined to fight the struggle rather than evacuate peacefully in exchange of some package of benefits that would later not help to prevent further destruction down the line.

Yesterday I wrote about the rainbow and today I saw a rainbow, in fact a double rainbow in Starret City and I read about rainbows in the Jewish Week. This is not a joke. See attachments

bs"d

Do you believe in coincidences? Yesterday I wrote about saying the Bracha, blessing for a rainbow http://shemittahrediscovered.blogspot.com/2012/06/brainstorming-for-new-party-alternative.html and today I had to say the blessing.  I believe in Hashgacha pratis, which means that G-d runs the world and there are no coincidences. So when I saw the rainbow I was happy.  I told myself, G-d liked your post and liked your idea about a new party named "Zocher Habrit".  See He even sent you a real live rainbow and a beautiful one.

But it was a double rainbow (see attachements)

Today I also read about  rainbows in the Jewish Week.  http://www.thejewishweek.com/news/short_takes/sign_times_gays_march_no_one_cared  It was about a group that open identifies themselves as gay was allowed to march in the Israel Parade. Go on the link and look at the picture of rainbow-striped banners.   To quote the article
"The group contained 100 members and featured rainbow-striped banners, Israeli flags trimmed with rainbows and T-shirts emblazoned with a rectangular rainbow stamped in the middle with a white Jewish star."

So I was also very sad.  The Knesset voted against the Pro-Yesha Bill and the Gays were allowed to march in the Israel Parade.

Coincidence?   Is it no wonder I saw a real live rainbow today.  See attachments of pictures. We are told that when we see a rainbow it is a warning that G-d is telling us that the world deserves to be destroyed but G-d remembers the Covenant he made with the world never to bring a flood again. Remember the world was destroyed in Noah's time because of immorality.  Different species were mating each other unnaturally and the world needed to be destroyed.  The world was full of Hamas, and the world needed to be destroyed.  The world needs to be reminded to shape up and to be moral. Hamas has no place in this world.

So Hashem wants the world to have a rainbow?  Let there be a new movement, a revolution in Israel called "Zocher Habrit", whereby we remind ourselves that G-d remembers His Covenent to the world and is true to His Word and that the Jewish Nation must be faithful to G-d and to remember our part of the Covenant with G-d, to keep the Laws and Statutes and G-d will protect the Jewish People and the Land of Israel. This way, the world is protected and with G-d's help we collectively prevent another deluge, another Holocaust Chas Vechalila from taking place Heaven forbid!

Shabbat Shalom Umevorach!

Thanking Hashem for the gift of the State of Israel......Rabbanim, if you can please read as well..Thanks. Airing out our differences.....

bs"d

Dear Readers, amv"sh

Thank you so much for your comments even though some were quite upset.  I was amiss in that I did not preface my remarks in the previous email with a statement of a tremendous Hakoras Hatov I have, and my family has and all of Am Yisroel including all Chareidim should have, in my opinion,  towards the State of Israel a gift from Hashem.  Because of my failure to do so, some of my remarks were misconstrued as negating the State of Israel. So I would like to clarify my remarks and set things straight. Thank you dear reader and friend that you honored me with your comments allowing me to respond and did not simply put me on spam and reject my future emails.

In response to you comments (see below)

The establishment of the State of Israel in 1948 came on the heel of the ashes of the Holocaust.   BeDamayich Chayee.  In your blood shall you live.  It was established by secular Jews and not Religious Jews by enlarge.  The State flourished and the Land flourished as it never had after 2000 years of exile. How can I not take notice?  After 2000 years of barrenness, the Land brought forth fruit as promised in the Torah.  Today and always, the holiness permeates every nook and cranny though often it is hidden to the eye also among secular Jews.

It came somewhat of a surprise when I received an email from you, a good friend who was very angry at me for assuming assuming I was attacking the State of Israel, and negating it entirely because I mentioned that the establishment of the State of Israel was flawed.  That's like negating Abraham our forefather for producing Ishamael.  Or negating our forefather Yitzchok for producing Eisav.  How is it possible that such a perfect Tzadik like Abraham and Yitzchok produce prodigy that did not stand up to their own high standards?

Our sages teach us that Abraham had the Middah of Chessed, kindness which taken to an extreme is bad.

Isaac had the Middah of Gevurah which taken to an extreme is bad.

Jacob is the integration of Chessed and Gevurah from which Israel descends.   Would I ever negate Abraham for having produced a Yishmael? Or Isaac for producing Eisav? Of course not, because to do so would be to negate myself.

Life is a process whereby man is inherently flawed and States which are born have inherent flaws.   Our mission is to recognize the flaws and try to the best of our ability to correct them and perfect ourselves.  Surely it was not my intention to degrade the State of Israel or what it has accomplished since it's inception.  For to do so would be as you suggest, spitting in G-d's face.

My purpose is only to recognize that perhaps the vessel of the Jewish people's aspirations in returning to our Land, known as the Modern State of Israel built on secular rather than religious and Torah law is reaching a crisis.  But this vessel was a beautiful vessel and served us well.  Inherently it was flawed so it can not last forever.  We all have a lifespan. The time has come to create a bigger and stronger vessel to accommodate not only the growth of the Jewish people but also accommodate the spiritual growth of humanity.

The Torah is the key.  By Torah, I am not referring merely to the Torah Shebaal Peh or the Oral Law of the Chareidim.  I am referring to the written Torah which is accompanied by the Oral Law which has 70 faces.  What unites all Jews is the written Torah and what allows us to express our individuality within Torah is the Oral Law.  Each and every group will emphasize and excel in their particular area of expertise of Torah and express themselves with the Halachot according to their particular Rabbanim, spiritual leaders and or community.  When we unite with mutual respect for one another,we raise sanctity in the world making it a better place and will hopefully succeed in being a Kingdom of Priests and a Holy Nation.  Please note that when I say "we" I am not only referring to religious Jews.  I am referring to all Jews religious and secular and all Noahides for whom the Torah (Seven Noahide laws) is their guide as well.

Perhaps I have a particular nature where flaws stare me in the face and I have the desire to attempt to fix. I recognize that the human experience means that we are all flawed and our mission on this earth is Tikkun Olam.     True one has to be careful as per how one addresses correcting another's flaw, that it should be done with love and in a way that can be accepted with love.  That's very hard to do and I too am flawed.... But then again, being flawed is being human.

The Rabbanim have been my shining light and have provided me and my children with a Torah education which I cannot express enough  Hakoras Hatov.  A well from which you have drunk do not cast a stone.

While I have not been shy in pointing out the flaws of the State of Israel, I have also not been shy in addressing the flaws of Rabbinic leadership who have failed to provide Torah leadership from the onset of the establishment of the State leaving a void thus leaving no choice but for the secular Jews to take over and set the tone for the modern State. (Thank you for pointing this out, see below,  and I agree with you completely) It is my personal opinion and many will call me arrogant for daring to suggest  that had the Rabbanim in the 1920's embraced the Land of Israel and the Balfour Declaration and had the Jewish people returned en masse to our Biblical and historical homeland when offered, the Holocaust would never have happened.  `It is also my opinion that the failure of the Rabbinic leadership to encourage the Jews to protect and settle the entire Land today especially all of Judea and Samaria, the heartland of the Land of Israel, will lead to terrible suffering especially to those in the position of leadership and influence.  It is painful to speak such words but having lived in Hebron, the spirit of Hebron and of Caleb and Joshua cry out for us to return as one.  It is for this reason I try to the best of my ability together with others to send emails and call and beg and plead the Rabbanim to take a stand for Eretz Yisroel and against the destruction of homes in Judea and Samaria like HaUlpana, Migron and Amona.

These efforts are not always welcome.  I am put on spam and many assume my motives is to merely degrade Rabbanim and Torah Shebaal Peh.  May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart
Be acceptable to you, O God, my Rock and my Redeemer

Y'hiyu l'ratzon imrey fi v'hegyon libi l'fanecha Hashem tzuri v'goali

Very upset comments from a reader regarding a statement of a previous email where I wrote:

"Let us once and for all break away from Likud whose flaw originates with the establishment of the State of Israel. "

readers comment:  Had you thanked Hashem for the present of the State but attacked Netanyahu or any other party, that is one thing. Had you called for a new movement, that is fine.
But when you attack the establishment of the State, you attack the present Hashem bestowed on us in 1948.  Just as the generations after Yehoshua betrayed the gift of Eretz Yisrael, & just as the Davidic kings after David erred & sinned, you too are spitting at Hashem when you reject his present.  I do not receive emails from Kadimah & I don't want your emails.....

this email was followed with another email which said...

You have bought into the chareidi revisionist history that the State is not religious b/c of the Zionists.  Let's look at the facts.  The chareidim boycotted the Zionist project from the start leaving the leadership to the secular.  And the 1949 election was won by the non-religious b/c that is who came from Europe.
And who made up the majority of the fighting underground against the British?  While many were religious, most chareidim were not for the revolt against the British.  So left to the chareidim, we would not have a state today.

To the point:  why is the State not religious? b/c the majority of the people who came were secular both before 1948 & after. Do you expect secular to establish religious laws? In 1949, there were elections.  Why did the secular win? b/c they were the majority.  Where were the chareidim?   The chareidim love to revise history to prove their propaganda that it was the Zionists who made Jews non-religious.  Fact: MANY Jews in Europe were already not religious.  Had a majority of Jews been religious in 1948, the State would be religious, although I fear some chareidi groups would be closer to the Taliban in hashkafa.

Yes, it bothers me when I see Israeli youth mimicking American culture. And the Left have destroyed Israeli education with regard to nationalism & Jewish culture in the non-religious schools. Yes. That must be addressed.  But I won't sit here & point a finger pontificating that the Zionists are to blame when the religious boycotted the Zionist endeavor just as the chareidim are boycotting actions that are in Israel's interest today e.g. the army & teaching their youth professions.  The chareidi parties are simply bought off.
Nor will I spit at Hashem by demonizing his gift to us.  The gov't can be criticized & should be when necessary. But the concept of the State as Hashem's gift cannot.  This is what the chareidim do & despite your good intentions, this is what you did in your email and that is why I do not want any more emails from you.

Brainstorming for a new party - an alternative to Likud - a proposal - all comments welcome....

bs"d

Rabbosai,  It is still not to late to rectify our Silence, our abstentions.  Let those who feel the pain of their fellow Jew take the lead and not be afraid.

Let us once and for all break away from Likud whose flaw originates with the establishment of the State of Israel.  The rejection of Torah dates back to 1948 by a secular Israeli gov't.  In order to rectify this flaw we must be a revolution and start clean.  We need a new movement or party that is the opposite of Kadima in the sense that it is nurtured by real roots and not superficial or just on the surface.

Let this party be called "Zocher HaBrit", remembering the Covenant between G-d and our forefathers, between G-d and the Nation of Israel.  The name will incorporate Jews and Non Jews.  It also represents all Noahides and G-d's blessing to Noah.  What blessing to we say when we see a rainbow? After the flood, G‑d promised Noah that He would never again bring a flood that would destroy the world. A rainbow is a reminder of this covenant that G‑d made with Noah, his descendants, and all living creatures. Therefore, upon seeing a rainbow in the sky, we recite the following blessing:

Baruch ata Ado-nai Elo-heinu melech ha'olam zocher ha'brit v'ne'eman bivrito v'kayam b'ma'amaro.

Blessed are You, Lord our G‑d, King of the universe, who remembers the covenant, and is faithful to His covenant, and keeps His promise.

It will remind the Jewish people to be faithful to the Covenant and to keep the laws and Statutes.

If Kadima came about albeit w/o real roots, why can't a new party called Zocher HaBrit be formed? The common denominator will be Torah Shebichtav and being that there are 70 faces to the Torah which is referring to Torah Shebaal Peh, all such legit laws, sometimes contrary to each other but respectful of one another fall under the category of Eilu Veilu Divrei Elikim Chaim.  All are words of G-d  Mi Shemaamin lo Mefached.  A believer is not afraid.

We can not continue under the umbrella of Likud and fall for more deception and lies and broken promises.

Sincerely, Robin Ticker
