So what's with Amona?

For those who don't know the story, let me share some back ground information and the latest situation on the ground.

I shall not begin with our forefathers to whom that land was promised by the Creator ,or  with Joshua who was commanded by that same Creator  to conquer it from the Canaanites.  I shall also not  discuss the millennia when His people did just that and left their print  under every stone for  us to see today..

That is old stuff; too old and irrelevant  for many.

So let us begin just a few short  centuries ago.
Very quickly then, after the Romans conquered the land and expelled lots of us, came the Christian Byzantines and forbade any of us to enter our land. Then came the Arabs who allowed us to return under strict discriminatory  rules.
The Crusaders came and slaughtered as many Jews and Arabs as  they could.
They were  expelled by the Mameluke Turks who were in turn expelled by the Ottoman Turks in 1517.

The ottomans allowed Jews fleeing the Spanish Inquisition to come home and to other parts of their empire.

During all these periods Jews have not ceased to remember their home land , and have it on their lips many times  a day.
Unique.

The Turkish empire decayed, and life for Jews became  pretty tough.
They were  ousted in 1917 by the British who promised to be the tool with which to bring the Jews  home to their land finally.
They lied.

The British were forced to leave by the relentless attacks by the tiny illegal  "Irgun" and "Lechi" underground forces( Menachem Begin led one and  Yitzchak Shamir the latter).

Israel was born in war.
The Arab world swore they would throw all the Jews into the sea if they declared a state (their concern was not about " territories"). The Arabs tried their best to make good on their promise.
They failed.

In so doing, Israel won even more land than that allotted them  by the UN partition decision of 1947.

The one big winner on the Arab side was the artificial Kingdom of Jordan. (a whim of the British a few short years earlier, establishing an Arab country  for the first  time in history, on lands promised to  the Jewish people by the world community).
Jordan attacked along with several other Arab armies and they wrested large parts of Judea  and Samaria (called the "West Bank" by  the Jewish people's detractors).

Jordan proceeded to  immediately annex the areas they conquered, including historic Jerusalem.
The other Arab countries did not recognize it. They were jealous.
Only Britain, its patron and creator, and Pakistan, due to family reasons recognized the annexation as legal.

When Jordan attacked Israel a second time in 1967 after Israel begged her to stay out(just as Israel begged Jordan to stay out in 1948), she lost her misbegotten gains of 1948 and Israel liberated  Judea  and Samaria.
Israel did not conquer a sovereign state that attacked her. The territories she won were never legally Jordan's. The last occupiers before Jordan's was Britain. Before them, Turkey. Before them the Mamelukes, etc...

However when Jordan took that area in 1948, the king proceeded to divide parcels  among his more  loyal supporters - political patronage . So we have an  Illegal occupation and thus an Illegal granting of land that was not his legally.

Which brings us to today and Amona.

Since 1967 some  Jews in Israel have dedicated their lives to bringing Jews to the liberated areas - the very heart of our land. Rather than being heralded as pioneers and visionaries,  mediocre governments and a vociferous  extreme Left have placed spokes in he wheels of  the historic Jewish renewal at every turn.
This is not the place to delve into the souls of the  modern Hellenists  and  self haters, but suffice it to say that they wield influence in important power centers such as the courts, press, academia and entertainment.

Despite now fifty years of Arab terror,  vilification and demonetization by the Jewish Left and the constant sword of political uncertainty over their heads, the Jewish pioneer population has swelled to almost half  a million!

Beside themselves with despair, the "anti Jewish return to our land" forces have enlisted huge sums of money from the anti Jewish countries and groups in Europe and the US.
Seems like everyone is anxious to take part in the crusade to make the Jewish heartland "Judenrein".
No international issue excites them as much.

The money pours in. The Arabs kill. The "New Israel Fund" and "J street" are the conduit for the money to reach the myriad of "humanitarian " organizations in Israel like "Peace Now" ,"Rabbis for Peace" .. etc...
These Jews are paid handsomely to dedicate their days and nights to uprooting Jews from their homes and supporting an  Arab presence in theses areas.
They spend much time locating Arabs who might have been allotted land by the Jordanian king and was no aware of it because th elands were totally inaccessible and unattractive  for settlement and farming. Hilly, stony lands that were never touched from time immemorial - and for good reason.

The "humanitarians" seek these Arabs out and then  accompany them to the Israeli courts where they demand that Jewish families  living in their homes for decades be expelled. The land will then return to its mode of lonely  rocks.

In Israel, as in all Western countries, compensation  is the most common solution to this kind of real estate tangle.
This is so in Israel too, but not in the "territories" where Jews live under military law and  are subject to the anti "Jewish settlement" agenda of the military government.
Clearly they are doing the bidding of their higher ups. This is not the place to elaborate on this phenomenon  and this may sound surprising to some readers, so just check the history.

Thousands of Arab homes in Israel, especially in the Galilee the Negev and in Jerusalem are  built illegally. Thousands more in the "territories" under Israel military law. - and never the rush to destroy and expel. As Ms. Dorner, one of  enlightened  supreme court judges said,"that would cause great social  unrest.."One of the supreme court judges who decide what is to be Jewish land is Judge Jubran, an Arab who refuses to stand for the national anthem.
Is it me or is there something very wrong with this picture..?

The supreme court, with its record of consistent antipathy to the Jewish settlement movement,  is not concerned with "social unrest" when it comes to expelling Jewish families by force. Maybe its me, but I have the impression that they relish it.

Thousands of police are  now under going intense training for the imminent forced expulsion of fifty Jewish families  from a former rocky hill top that  no body  ever wanted and has been turned into  a  miracle of green and life in the long neglected home land.

Amona is not the first instance of the Sodom and Gomorrah like judgement.
We pray that it will be the last.

What is clear is that the ones writing Jewish history are not the Hellenists sitting on the court benches and in the ivory towers but the brave and loyal Jews, raising large  families who are not intimidated either by the Arabs or the "Jews".

"As Pharaoh  persecuted the Jews so they multiplied."
Today they are almost  half  a million. They just keep a coming.

I would like to remind you of the special winter tour on Wednesday, December 21.
Please contact me for details and reservations.

The Trauma That Awaits Amona
(Slated for Demolition by December 25)

Amona Evacuation, 2006

If the Regulation Bill continues its way through the Knesset and becomes law, then Amonawill be the "sacrificial lamb", with its structures destroyed and residents expelled. Would the potential benefit be worth the cost?

What would be the benefit? Simply (although there are many details), it is claimed that with passage of the bill, the 400,000 or so Jewish residents living in Judea and Samaria would be safe from any future action like this, since the legality of existing communities would be recognized by the government. Thus, some say, looking at the big, historic picture, evicting 40 families from Amona is an acceptable price to pay.

Is it worth it? If history is a guide, the answer is a clear NO. The gut-wrenching expulsion of nearly 10,000 Jewish residents from Gaza in 2005 is seared in every Israeli's memory, as are the lies Israel's citizenry were told leading up to it. Them there and we here? A recognized border? An end to terror? Did not happen.

Do we know with certainty that passing this bill will once and for all confer legal status to the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria? Is this a step toward Jewish Sovereignty in Judea and Samaria, or will Amona be destroyed and the bill caught up in the legal system, not implemented, and thus without benefit? And will Israel's government be able to withstand the withering criticism and actions of the international community as a result of the bill's passage?

What we do know at the moment is that detailed plans are in the works for the destruction of Amona and the expulsion of its residents. The following is a reprint of an article in Haaretz, describing those plans. Due to its importance, we reprint it here since the original is behind a subscription firewall.

More than 1,000 Israel Police officers are slated to participate in the anticipated evacuation of Amona in a few weeks, and restraining orders are being issued to 200 far-right activists to keep them from entering the West Bank at that time. The police expect far-right protesters to try to thwart the move at the illegal outpost, but not with the same force used during the evacuation of the site in 2006.

Police Commissioner Roni Alsheich has approved the orders for the operation and sat in on the three major training sessions that were held in preparation for it.

As the security body with primary responsibility for the area in general, the Israel Defense Forces has been tasked with overall command of the evacuation effort. It will provide auxiliary support for the police, and will handle any incidents involving the Palestinian population during the event, due to occur before Dec. 25.

The police will be responsible for dealing with access routes, contact with the civilian population and the actual evacuation of residents.

The Shin Bet security service's Jewish department will provide intelligence related to any organized attempts to block the evacuation and to any figures who might disrupt it.

There have been several recent security-coordination meetings in advance of the operation, involving the head of the IDF Central Command, the head of the IDF's Judea and Samaria Division, the head of the Shin Bet's Jerusalem and West Bank Division, and the commander of the police's Judea and Samaria District.

Moshe Barkat, who heads the latter district's forces, was appointed by police chief Alsheich to command the operation.

Ever since the decision was made to remove the residents of Amona from their homes, police intelligence personnel have been trying to gauge the resistance the evacuating forces are liable to encounter, to estimate the number of people who will arrive at the scene from outside the West Bank, and to determine how many families will go willingly and how many will resist. The police's cyber division has also been working to find the far-rightist activists who have been calling for resistance to the evacuation.

In the days leading up to the event, with the aid of the Shin Bet, the police will start preventing prominent activists' entry to or removal from the West Bank. There are plans to issue restraining orders to approximately 200 such individuals, which will be in effect until after the evacuation.

The police are also considering temporarily detaining a group of approximately 20 prominent right-wing activists, whom they and the Shin Bet have identified as being problematic. Apparently these individuals have declared that they intend to violate orders prohibiting them from entering Judea and Samaria.

Several youths who have threatened to use violent measures are believed to have already come to the area and taken up positions on nearby hilltops.

The police believe that only a small number of Amona residents are likely to protest their evacuation violently, and that the bulk of the resistance will come from outside. The plan calls for there to be four police officers for every resident who leaves peacefully, but more officers if the person has to be forcefully evacuated.

Ahead of the operation the police have established six main units of 100-300 officers each, charged with six different, pre-assigned evacuation tasks. Commanders of the operation are aiming to thwart any private initiatives on the part of policemen that deviate from their assigned mission. This was one of the lessons from the previous Amona evacuation, where the unprofessional actions of some officers only stoked the unrest and made the operation more difficult.

The evacuating units will arrive at the outpost unarmed, except for the commander of each force. The troops offering the police cover will be equipped with various crowd-dispersal means. Near the command center that will be set up by the entrance to Amona, additional police officers and mounted police officers equipped with crowd-dispersal equipment will be on standby.

IDF and various observation forces will accompany the operation; police helicopters will record events as they unfold to enable the senior officers to assess the situation.

Among others posted at the main command center will be fire-fighting forces, Magen David Adom emergency rescue service personnel and vehicles, and other IDF and Shin Bet personnel.

Those forces actually entering the outpost will be from the Border Police and the Israel Police's Yasam (special patrol and security) division. Their first destination will be 10 buildings in which protesters may try to barricade themselves.

The roads leading to Amona are narrow and the police are also preparing for a situation in which protesters try to block the departure of buses carrying the evacuated residents.

The article can be accessed here:

On December 6, Arabs and the leftist group Yesh Din filed a suit against the planned relocation of the town of Amona to another portion of the mountain it is built upon. "The relocation plan was a key part of the compromise reached between Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Education Minister Nafatli Bennett to pass the Regulation Law without affecting decisions already issued by the Supreme Court." Read Arutz Sheva article here.
Could it possibly be that the Arabs will "come to the rescue" as they have in the past by rejecting every offer of a "Peace Plan" that's been presented to them? If they force the issue to be reconsidered, who knows...?

The Knesset is scheduled to vote on Amona and is considering legislation over the next couple of days. Please email Knesset Members and urge them to save Amona. Here's how:

Step 1.  Copy and paste the following addresses into the Bcc: box of a new email:

Step 2.  In the body of the email, type:

Dear Member of Knesset:

Your vote on Amona tomorrow is very important.

(Then choose from some of these points. It is important that your email is individualized, so use your own words. Thank you!!!)

a. Amona is a symbol of Jewish presence in JudeaSamaria – without which Israel is 9 miles wide.

b. From Amona, Jerusalem is easily visible.

c. Amona – in fact the entire Regional Council surrounding Amona – is the only thing that stands between Ben-Gurion airport and Palestinian missile fire on airplanes flying in from Florida, New York and other places. Today you protect Amona; tomorrow Amona protects you when you board an airplane to Israel.

d. Amona is a symbol of lawfare against Israel – in this case, claims that land passed out to landowners long gone by a monarch who was illegally ruling in JudeaSamaria (the king of Jordan) are more important than claims of Jewish families legitimately allocated empty land by Israel's government.

e. Amona reminds us and the world of the simple fact that the international community long ago pledged that Eretz Israel including JudeaSamaria would be the one place in the world where Jews would be a majority. The Arab nation including the Palestinian sector (which shares language, religion and origin with the remainder of their Arab brothers and sisters and is not a separate nation) received the remainder of the Middle East for their self-determination – about 99% of the Middle East.

f. 200 children live in Amona who, like their parents, have done nothing wrong and should not be uprooted for reasons of human rights.

g. The war against Amona is being fought by radical left groups which have caused Israel great damage and 1000 victims of terrorism. These groups say terrorism is no worse than settling  the land – setting the stage for 9/11 and other atrocities worldwide.

h. Amona and other communities like it are a huge help to the Israel Defense Forces. Israel's army can only deploy, say 10 thousand soldiers in strategic JudeaSamaria – tops!! – at any given time. The Jewish community in Amona and communities like it numbers about 500 thousand – 50 times as large.

i. Amona and other communities like it  overlook Israel's bustling  population centers – Tel-Aviv, Jerusalem and their suburbs – and bravely prevent these population centers from being turned into useless, cowed war zones.

j. Amona is part of the Land of Israel which historically belongs to the Jewish people whereas the Arab people already have vast tracts of land and should not be allowed to take our land away.

k. The Amona Regulation Law offers generous financial compensation for land to Arabs who may never have owned the land. This is far more than descendants of the 3 million  full owners of Jewish property in Poland ever received – to this day, these full and indisputable owners were offered nothing by their former murderers.
