Dear Friends, Media and Rabbanim who want Jewish Settlement in Yehuda and Shomron, amv"sh
This is an emergency appeal to help raise money for Chavat Gilad in the Shomron. As you will soon see from this letter, this campaign is not merely collecting for another Mosad,
Chavat Gilad's struggle is one which represents Am Yisroel's legitimate claim and right to settle in all parts of Eretz Yisroel. This is especially important in light of mamesh today's political climate where the UN is reported to join with the US to delegitimize Jewish settlement in Judea and Samaria. (Please read Arlene Kushners article below.)
Please read Hamlatza, recommendation from HaRav Yitzhok HaLevi, the Rav MeKomi of Karnei Shomron. (see attached recommendation).
According to Oshri David of the Shomron Liason office, short term, money is urgently needed to pay for fuel for the generator in order to restore electricity. Long term, they would like to install Turbine Windmills or similar alternative energy solution to replace the generators. This would then serve as a model for other communities to use alternative sources of energy rather than rely on outside and sometimes hostile sources for energy.
This preferred long term solution will cost approximately $60,000 to purchase and install. This is a substantial sum of money to raise and Rabbinic recommendations would be extremely helpful in this endeavor. Please send any Rabbinic Hamlatzot, recommendations to the Shomron Liason office CC:d above and cc: myself. . Also if you can direct us to people of means who love Eretz Yisroel and would be honored to help Chavat Gilad with a contribution it would be greatly appreciated. Most importantly, please do so in order that we all be zocheh to be partners in Yishuv Haaretz with the courageous families living in Chavat Gilad. Surely when Hashem sees that we desire the Land with our pockets, Hashem will speedily come to our aid to save us from those that wish to annihilate us.
Here is some background information re: Chavat Gilad
The community is named after Gilad Zar hy"d who was murdered by Fatah
Havat Gilad is situated on private land owned by Moshe Zar it lies between Itzhar and Kidumim. Havat Gilad has 28 families and 20 single males learning in "Yeshiva Baruch Hassidut –Shiru Lemelech " (Sing to the King ) There is a multi-aged (3-5 year olds) kindergarten for the 30 young children to attend.
The population is from varied backgrounds from different places all over the country and they are a multi-talented group. Many of the families run their own businesses.
This small settlement is not connected to Israel's national electric company or Water Company. In order to have electricity a privately run generator is used. Water is shipped in by the truck load. These expenses get very costly for the community.
There is currently an intense campaign to be recognized by the government in order to grow and to be connected to public water and electricity supplies.
Oshri David sent me the following email. The fuel was running out today!!! That's mean that they have no electricity and not heating in this cold winter!!!
WE HAVE TO ASSIST THEM URGENTLY !!
THE FUEL FOR THE GENERATOR COST 60,000 NIS (17,000 USD) MONTHLY.

Dear List, amv"sh
The words spoken a year ago at a Conference at Chavat Gilad, are as relevant as can be for today's political climate. http://www.yeshuv.org/media/havat-gilad-confrence-pictures-and-report
Yesterday, on February 16th 2011 Commentary Magazine reported u-s- offering-to-join-in-security-council-condemnation-of-israel
In the youtube video above, a young mother instructs us that the best response to delegitimization or destruction of Jewish settlement is by building, not only houses but a Kehilla. .
Therefore it seems to me that supplying all the energy needs of Chavat Gilad is our best answer to any joint United States and UN anti-settlement statement . Robin
Arlene Kushner writes:
"The U.S. informed Arab governments Friday that it will support a U.N. Security Council statement reaffirming that the 15-nation body 'does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlement activity,' a move aimed at avoiding the prospect of having to veto a stronger Palestinian resolution calling the settlements illegal. But the Palestinian's rejected the American offer. … [US Ambassador to the UN, Rice] outlined the new U.S. offer in a closed door meeting on Tuesday with the Arab Group. … [I]n exchange for scuttling the Palestinian resolution, the United States would support the council statement, consider supporting a U.N. Security Council visit to the Middle East, the first since 1979, and commit to supporting strong language criticizing Israel's settlement policies in a future statement by the Middle East Quartet."
Adds Ceren:
"In a way, this is a natural follow-up to the administration's bumbling in Egypt, where they managed to alienate all parties in the Middle East except the Muslim Brotherhood, Iran, and Iran's assorted proxies. This gesture won't win us any lasting goodwill from Arab elites. WikiLeaks showed that they care far more about geopolitical stability than they do about the settlements, such that the spectacle of the White House abandoning a second ally for the second week in a row would be met with worried chagrin, regardless of what they say out loud...
"...our [US] UN mission...seems to believe that 'bargaining' means 'getting progressively closer to the other side's position.' We're negotiating with the likes of Libya and the Hezbollah-controlled Lebanon over whether we should protect one of our last Middle East allies against a biased UN lynch mob."
