Arlene Kushner: From Israel. Incredible!

June 3, 2014

“Incredible!”

Last night, I had written my post, which spoke about my unease regarding the possibility of US support for the Fatah-Hamas unity government.  What I said was:

“Kerry, while expressing concern about Hamas, has had communication with Abbas and will be meeting with him.
“He is saying the US will not accept the unity government ‘initially’. Not encouraging. He’s saying, ‘Convince me, guys.’”
~~~~~~~~~~
Well, it seems that when Kerry said “not initially,” he meant they would wait two or three hours. I sent out that posting, turned back to check the news one last time for the night, and found that the Obama administration had announced a decision to “work with” the new unity government.
There was not even a pretense of assessing the new government before making a decision. That decision was made up front.
And so, no, I am obviously not surprised that this is the way the US administration decided to go.  But I am shocked at the alacrity with which they signed on, without a semblance of serious consideration of the potential problems.
~~~~~~~~~~
What I felt – this was about 1 AM – was the degree to which we are confronting an enemy in the White House. Also not new, not a surprise.  (Don’t write, please! to ask me, didn’t I know?)  But this was so “in our face.”  This decision to immediately give support to a government that includes Hamas – a terrorist entity dedicated to Israel’s destruction.
~~~~~~~~~~
Meanwhile, Congress is looking seriously at cutting funds to this new unity government. Members of Congress are none too pleased with the decision of the White House/State Department.  I will have a great deal more to say about this in coming days.
~~~~~~~~~~
Deputy Minister of Defense Danny Danon yesterday referred to the US decision as a matter of “moral choice.”  And indeed, right he is. There is a question of US law – which actually prohibits support for a terrorist entity – and then the question of what is simply right.
It is, I recognize, foolish to talk about moral decisions and the Obama administration in the same breath.
~~~~~~~~~~
The government of Israel is quite furious at this decision and has voiced grave “disappointment” in the US.
The Security Cabinet has announced it has “formed a team to consider plans of action given the new reality that has been created, and ahead of diplomatic and security situations that will be created in the future.”
Among the various responses under consider is partial annexation (e.g. of the Gush Etzion area), although this would not happen immediately.  According to a JPost article, it would not happen before the projected unity government elections.
~~~~~~~~~~
My thought here, then, is Hey! Here we are again with a perfect example of why the Legal Grounds Campaign is so important. It lays the legal groundwork for decisions on annexation that may follow.  It provides strength and an attitude of certainty with regard to our rights.  Right now, in spite of such proposals for annexation, support is insufficient.  Please! will those of you who care, and are willing to help us fight this fight during this window of time, contact me.
~~~~~~~~~~
Among the things the Israeli government has already decided is to make commuting between Gaza and the PA areas of Judea and Samaria difficult, and to prevent voting for the unity government in eastern Jerusalem (most Arabs living there hold residency and not citizenship cards, and would want to be counted in the PA polity).  With this, there will be efforts to prevent Hamas participation in elections in Judea and Samaria.
There is talk, as well, about holding back money Israel collects in taxes for the PA.  There is always talk about this, is there not?  There seems to be a reluctance because the PA screams that they will collapse without this money, and we are causing people to suffer, etc. etc.  But the PA still owes us a large fortune for electricity.
I will have a great deal to say about Israeli responses in coming days, without question.
~~~~~~~~~~
Khaled Abu Toameh has written an analysis of what issues are still to be dealt with, with the formation of this new government.  As the article says: Explosive issues are left hanging in the air.  These issues involve not only the elections, but the melding of security forces and more (emphasis added):
“It’s also unrealistic to believe that PA leadership would rush to add tens of thousands of Hamas employees to its payroll, especially in wake of the economic hardships facing the government.
“On the other hand, those who think Hamas would allow Fatah-dominated security forces to return to the Gaza Strip as a result of the April 23 reconciliation pact are living in an illusion.
“For now, both Hamas and Fatah prefer to avoid answering questions that could spoil the euphoria over the ‘historic’ decision to end their differences.”
~~~~~~~~~~
In line with Abu Toameh’s comments, it is worth noting here that outgoing Hamas prime minister Ismail Haniyeh, on the day when the new government was sworn in, declared:
“I am not concerned about the resistance; it is in good condition. Today there is an army, in the form of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades — it is advanced and the resistance is advanced.”
Israeli intelligence estimates that Hamas has some 10-12,000 rockets. Paraphrasing Abu Toameh, anyone who expects Hamas to surrender its position of “resistance, is floating in the stratosphere.
~~~~~~~~~~
I leave further analysis and deeper sharing of information to another day. For tonight begins the holiday of Shavuot, and it is time to turn my focus to other, more eternal, matters.
Shavuot, a harvest festival, marks our receiving of the Torah at Sinai.  We counted seven weeks from the time of Pesach, to reach this point.  Now it is time for joy and celebration – and the tradition of study through the night.
We must turn to the One who graced us with the extraordinary and eternal gift of Torah, and not count on the good offices of men and women.
~~~~~~~~~~
To all who will be celebrating, I wish a Chag Shavuot Sameach!
Shavuot
Shavuot and Sinai - Ump Says Boy Can't Play Ball With Tzitzit: COL Be a Humble Mountain
bs"d
Ump Says Boy Can’t Play Ball With Tzitzit; Team Walks Off Field
Little Leaguer has to choose between team uniform, "God uniform".
Celebrate Israel Parade. Judea and Samaria represented Baruch Hashem but where were the Spectators at the Israel Day Parade?????? with 35,000 attending?
bs"d
If you looked down Fifth Ave this past Sunday, a beautiful day, a gift from heaven, with an estimated 35,000 in attendance you wondered where the spectators were?  Where were the expected crowds on such a beautiful day?
Allow me to speculate.
Who basically marched in the Parade?
"As has been the case in recent years, young, Orthodox marchers from yeshivas and religious schools far outnumbered all the rest, many sporting the orange-colored shirts that have become de rigueur among right-wingers since the protest against the 2005 Gaza Disengagement. The audience also seemed to be made up mainly – though not exclusively, by any means – of Orthodox Jews."
 Let me tell you my first hand experience in this year's Parade.
The barricades kept all the spectators away from 5th Ave.
 It was the most bizarre thing.
Personally, I arrived at 51 Street and couldn't get to 52nd Street. In order to cross to the other side of 51st Street I needed to be herded with a bunch of other spectators within the barriers set there by the New York City Police Dept. and wait for the cops to allow us to finally cross in between marching groups.  And then there was absolutely no way to get to 52nd Street since the barriers were blocking us and the options were to go all the way to either 6th Ave. on the West Side or Madison Ave. on the East Side of Fifth ave. and back again to 5th Ave.  It was the most frustrating thing.  Actually, I wanted to walk towards 72nd Street down the sidewalk of 5th Ave watching the Parade as I did in previous years according to my recollections, or alongside a group but that  was almost impossible!  AFter all it seemed to me that unless you were part of a group with the proper T shirt you couldn't walk or march down 5th Ave or even barely get to the sidewalk without crossing a barrier.
The crowd control really ruined the Parade for me as a spectator!  I never recall such ridiculous use of police at what should have been an enjoyable event primarily for spectators and for the marchers as well. Was it my imagination to think that  if you weren't a marcher this year, they didn't really want you to enjoy/participate in the Parade.  Was this a way to get back at all of us right wingers who protested and who said that we would be at the Parade but not march?  Were they afraid of the crowd booing some of the organizers for allowing the BDS groups or perhaps that they were afraid that we would be spreading literature to the over 200 groups, mainly right wing groups according to Haaretz,  that were marching as to the dangers of BDS and our indigenous rights to Judea and Samaria.   Am I being paranoid? Or was this simply a matter of security as everyone assumed??
Perhaps it is the cynical side of me that guesses that primarily it was their concern to keep control of the message of the Parade rather than the Security aspect that guided their decision making process in putting up all those barriers.
So I finally walked down Madison Ave. to get to 72nd Street taking detour to 63rd Street and 5th Ave on the east side in order to touch base with Rabbi Abadie's group and Richard Allen of JCCwatch and AFsi.
How disappointed the marchers must have been not to have the usually crowd cheering them on.  Most of the Spectators were either herded with barricades on street corners or walking down Madison or 6th Ave. missing the entire Parade.
The worst part was coming to 72nd street, the only corner where one could cross for several blocks, from the east side to the west side and being part of a huge crowd of people sandwiched like sardines in between the barriers waiting for the cops to allow the crowd to finally cross the Street. It was claustrophobic and the feeling that overcame me at the moment was "Is this the way my parents and grandparents felt when they were herded into the Cattle Cars in Europe?
What a totally depressing moment.
The few minute I did get to watch the Parade was enjoyable as usual. Too bad it was just for a few moments.
I'd like to share pictures sent to me of Signs in support of Judea and Samaria marching down 5th Ave.
Let me single out ZOA who had the best signs and T shirts!   Their slogans
"HEBRON The First Capital of the Jewish People   ZOA  (Zionist Organizaiton of America)
Jews have continuously lived in the Land of Israel for 3,500 Years
The Land of Israel was called "Judea" under the Greeks and Romans because it is the Home of the Jewish People
Israel Day Concert With a Message Summer Stage Central Park 2014. Concert Theme Undivided Jerusalem. What is the reality?? Netanyahu pledges to not divide Jerusalem but he divides it in practice -
bs"d
Watch: Israel Day 'Concert With a Message' Brings Out the Crowds.
Thousands turn out to 21st annual Israel Day Concert, wrapping up a day of Israeli pride.
http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/181285#.U4ywH_ldXOg
Anyone that was at today's concert was totally impressed by the high standard of  professionalism, level of entertainment and exuberant crowd cheering on the Star Studded Performers and Amazing speakers. http://shemittahrediscovered.blogspot.com/2014/06/today-let-your-voices-be-heard-concert.html  Musical Director- Zvika Bornstein did an amazing job!  It was truly magnificent up till the very last minute with a grand united finale and stars coming back for a 2nd showing to the delight of the audience. Each performance outdid the other. Each speaker outdid the other!  The sound system for the Park was fabulous,  The giant screen in the background enhanced every performance with images that kept the attention of those of us in Central Park - Summer Stage riveted on the stage or on the screen as never before.  The concert went to a higher level and we are all excited for the next grand concert.     As concerts go, this one topped them all.
Actually the Concert had four themes and these themes were reflected in both the music and the speeches
  • JERUSALEM: UNITED, FOREVER---Never to be divided again,
  • No further concessions of ANY part of the Land of Israel (Yisrael HaShleima),
  • Stopping Iran NOW, and
  • Countering the  Boycott, Divest and Sanction (BDS) movement!
So in spite of it all, we have not yet reached the summit.
כִּי לֹא-בָאתֶם עַד-עָתָּה--אֶל-הַמְּנוּחָה וְאֶל-הַנַּחֲלָה (דברים יב ט) Unfortunately....we can not assume it's all good. ....
There was one very annoying feature that probably didn't annoy most people but being that I am super sensitive, it annoyed the daylights out of me. It was this banner of an Israeli Flag with blue as the top stripe and read white and blue as the bottom stripe. The words Undivided Jerusalem was printed in bold print on the banner.   It was this banner image that kept on resurfacing time and time again throughout the entire performance. It was a recurring motif  As the performance progressed, there were Baruch Hashem images of the Israeli Flag, Kachol Lavon, blue and white upon the entire map of Israel Eretz Yisroel Hashleima, without red white and blue there to remind us that we are always beholden to America. with glaring red and blue headlights as top borders of the stage.
I would have much preferred sticking with white and blue headlights and the white and blue Israeli Flag.   I, like many other feel that the Israeli Flag is just fine the way it is and doesn't need any other symbolism added to it.  Recently one of the settlers thrown out of his home in Ma'ale Rechavam remarked that he liked our flag the way it was and didn't want other images.  (wasn't sure which other images he was referring to). This Israeli Flag with red , white and blue was incongruous with songs like Anachnu Maaminim bnei Maaminim.. there is noone to rely upon except Hashem or Mi Shemaamin lo Mefached....One who believes is not afraid.....Hashem Melech, Hashem Malach, Hashem Yimloch LeOlam Vaed,  Hashem is King, Hashem is King, Hashem will be King forever and ever.  It wasn't congruous with the messages of Deputy Defense Minister, MK Danny Danon, Rabbi Algaze, Mort Klein, Dr. Paul E. Brody, Dr. Joseph Frager, Helen Freedman, John Bolton and Ted Cruz.
Until the very end of the performance, the Israeli flag with the words imprinted Undivided Jerusalem with the red white and blue kept making an appearance.  It made me uneasy.   When Ted Cruz and John Bolton spoke, and they spoke really fantastically, I thought that perhaps this was a good time to graphically show allegiance with America.  Especially when John Bolton was telling Israel don't wait for America in order to attack Iran since it won't happen in the next two and a half years,  but do what you must and brace yourself for International condemnation and just make sure that America will support your right for self defense and make sure that America will help to rearm you when Israel's enemies surrounding her from all sides prepare to attack. Then an Israeli flag together with red white and blue made some sense. I would trust John Bolton representing America as Israel's friend.   Or perhaps when Ted Cruz, the Guardian of Israel in Congress spoke, the Israeli white and blue banner with the Start Spangled banner appearing together makes  sense.  But I wouldn't merge the two into one with the words Undivided Jerusalem imprinted,  thereby confusing our individuality and identity..  It's not just the symbolism, it's the reality of the situation that is disturbing. This idyllic representation of  America supporting an undivided Jerusalem lulls us into believing that all is well when in fact the opposite is true.
The slogan "Undivided Jerusalem" brought to the surface painful recollections of 2007 where activists for Judea and Samaria protested Annapolis. These were my comments and thoughts at the time:
Protesting the Summit in Annapolis:
There are two Coalitions that I know of to Defend Jerusalem.  The first is the Coordinatiing Council of Jerusalem spearheaded by Rabbi Pesach Lerner.  The Second is called Defending Jerusalem Coalition.  .  While I agree that defending Jerusalem is of great importance, let me suggest that we stay focused on the essence of Jerusalem.  What is the essence of Jerusalem?  Jerusalem is not simply a museum piece of years gone by, of two Holy Temples now in ruin.  Jerusalem represents our vision of the future, of being the City of Peace, the City of G-d where G-d's Law rules all of mankind. Ki Mitzion Tetzei Torah U'Dvar Hashem MeiYerushalayim.   From Zion will Torah  emerge and the Word of G-d from Jerusalem.  All of Israel will ascend to Jerusalem three times a year for the holidays of Pesach,  Shavuot and Sukkoth and the Nations of the world will ascend on the Holiday of Sukkot - Tabernacles.  The People of Israel will bring their presents to the Levites and to the  Kohanim, the Priests from the tribe of Levi descending from Aharon and Pinchus..  They will also share their wealth with the poor the proselyte, the widow and the orphan with great joy and happiness and on the 3rd and 6th year of the Shemittah cycle the poor gets extra. . .  These presents will be actual food and money  that they put aside from their Tithes that they separated after a plentiful harvest.  On these special holidays as well as the first and second, fourth and fifth years they  will ascend to Jerusalem with unsurpassed joy and festivities thanking their Creator for all the blessings that were bestowed upon them.  Where are the origins of these gifts?  It comes from the entire Land of Israel.  It comes from the produce of the Land.  On Tabernacles the Nations of the World will also recognize the beauty of Jerusalem and bring their gifts as well.
Can Jerusalem achieve it's  glory if the Land of  Israel is divided???? How can we talk of only saving Jerusalem when the essence of Jerusalem stems from the holiness of the entirety of the land of Israel.  How can we be silent for the grave and terrible fate awaiting Judea and Samaria, the heart of the Land of Israel, and only focus on Jerusalem.  CCJER Coalition is protesting only the Division of Jerusalem.  Have they chosen to disregard the goal of the Summit in Annapolis which is the establishment of a State of Palestine (G-d Forbid ) destroying flourishing model communities in Judea and Samaria and giving the Land to a terror State intent on the destruction of the whole of Israel?.  Knowing Rabbi Lerner and the members of this coalition I am convinced that their reason for not speaking out for Judea and Samaria is simply one of tactics.  They are hoping against hope that if we succeed to save Jerusalem we will stop the State of Palestine as well.  They are counting on the Arabs backing out.  Pesach Lerner and the Coalition members too are against the State of Palestine G-d forbid.
Just ask for their personal opinion.   Clarify their intention.
These words hold true today. We can not merely celebrate a United Jerusalem in lip service alone.  Arieh King and Women in Green burst our exuberant bubble.  כִּי לֹא-בָאתֶם עַד-עָתָּה--אֶל-הַמְּנוּחָה וְאֶל-הַנַּחֲלָה (דברים יב ט We have not reached the summit.  We have a way to go...
Netanyahu pledges to not divide Jerusalem but he divides it in practice
 We can not celebrate a United Jerusalem when indeed it is divided.  And without annexing Judea and Samaria, Jerusalem as well can never truly be united! Please read:
Dear Friends,
I decided to watch the entire video of the Ma'ale Rechavim eviction. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6Rl8lYSbw0
I believe we have all become desensitized in the same way that Amalek attacked the Jewish people and the commentaries say that this is like a person jumping into a very hot bath of water which eventually cools down....we have all lost our sensitivity...if we see videos such as this expulsion from Ma'ale Rechavim which just happened a few days ago and we truly believe what the Rebbe says regarding not giving away land and if we have not learnt from the disastrous unilateral disengagement from Gush Katif then something is really wrong if we stay quiet!
What happens below is a reflection on what happens above.....perhaps we need to work on tefilla, tezedoka, achdut amongst yidden I am not sure what the answer is...
*do we remain silent?
*do we call for prayer rallies?
*do we contact our Israeli ambassador?
*do we demonstrate outside the Israeli Embassy?
*do we produce a you tube video showing the importance of Israeli sovereignty over the entire Eretz Yisrael calling for peaceful coexistence?
* do we contact our local rabbis to speak to their congregations?
I await your suggestions.
1)    Rav Zini: Whoever Still Needs Proof Of the Necessity for
Sovereignty Needs a Psychiatrist
Another conference calling for application of Israeli sovereignty over
Judea and Samaria was held yesterday (Wednesday, May 28) in Haifa. Rav
Zini: The discussion on sovereignty is superfluous. This is totally
clear.
Yesterday, another conference in the series of conferences calling for
application of Israeli sovereignty over Judea, Samaria and the Jordan
Valley took place in Haifa. At the conference, which was organized by
the Women in Green movement and the student organization, National
Vision, more than two hundred and fifty supporters of the settlement
enterprise who live in the north took part: religious and secular,
young and mature, immigrants and veteran citizens, who were presented
with various matters relating to the vision of sovereignty.
The event began with words of congratulations to the heads of the Land
of Israel Lobby, MKs Orit Struk and Yariv Levin, for several laws that
they proposed in recent days as initial steps toward application of
sovereignty over Judea, Samaria and the Jordan Valley.
In her opening words, Yehudit Katsover, one of the two leaders of
Women in Green, presented a short overview of the political structure
of the three last decades in which the Left was active in the realm of
public relations, promoting the idea of two states, while the Right
worked on establishing facts on the ground throughout Judea and
Samaria.
Katsover described the Sisyphean battle against the Arab theft of land
throughout Judea and Samaria, a battle that was waged dunam by dunam,
but as a result of understanding the difficulty involved in running
from one plot of land to the next and from one battle to the next,
Women in Green decided to establish and lead an inclusive campaign for
the application of sovereignty.
Nadia Matar, Katsover's partner in the leadership of Women in Green,
noted the process of disenchantment within Israeli society, which has
grasped the reality that the false Arab narrative must be confronted
with the ancient and Jewish truth: the Land of Israel belongs to the
People of Israel and only to the People of Israel. "More and more
Israelis understand the importance of the strategic depth which is
provided by the mountain ridge in light of what was experienced after
the withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and the launching of missiles from
there. More and more citizens understand the economic benefit that
will stem from application of sovereignty over Yosh (Hebrew acronym
for Judea and Samaria) and more and more citizens are internalizing
the true demographic facts that prove that even in this sphere,
history works in our favor".
The first speaker of the conference was the former rabbi of Technion
and the head of Or Vishua Yeshiva, Rav Zini, who stated that the
entire discussion around sovereignty is superfluous because there is
nothing clearer than the ancient right of the People of Israel to its
Land. Regarding this subject he brought up the words that Rav Tzvi
Yehuda Kook said to the journalist who asked him if he could describe
the right of the People of Israel to its land in 10 minutes and his
answer was that of those 10 minutes, 9 of them are not necessary
because the matter is simple and there is no need for clarification or
explanation.
"When a people returns to its land with wondrous miracles and
self-sacrifice and we are still discussing if there is a place for
application of sovereignty on the Land, apparently such a people is in
need of psychiatric care", said Rav Zini with a smile and told of his
friend, a Professor of Mathematics, who told him once that in Israel
we need another 16 million people because every Israeli needs to
engage 2 psychiatrists…
Rav Zini also related what he said in an interview with a journalist,
which aroused the wrath of the president of Technion, Prof. Tadmor.
This was when he supported the idea of a gathering of all peoples and
not only the people of Israel. "He did not like it but I did not
change my stand, despite his threats", said Rav Zini.
The event ended with words from Ariel Kellner, the head of the student
organization, National Vision, who stated that even if it seems that
the vision is a long way from being implemented, persistence and faith
in the vision will lead to practical achievements until it is
realized, in the same spirit as words of the national visionary "If
you will it, it is not a dream".
Also speaking in the conference were Dr. Alan Baker, who was a member
of the Levy Commission and one of the people who wrote the wording for
the Oslo Accords, demographer Yoram Ettinger, journalist and economist
Eran Bar Tal, Dr. Martin Sherman and Attorney Elyakim Haetzni, from
one of the first communities in Judea and Samaria.
The conference, which was organized by the Women in Green Movement,
led by Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, and National Vision, led by
Ariel Kellner and Israel Shuldiner, was attended by more than two
hundred and fifty people, who were given details of the vision of
sovereignty, a realistic, ethical and Jewish vision that constitutes
an alternative to the ideas of the Left of dividing the Land and
establishing a terror state in its very heart.
The conference was received with great enthusiasm by members of the
audience, who remained for quite a while afterward for discussions and
explanations with various speakers; they asked questions and requested
to take part in the hasbara (public relations) efforts of the
sovereignty campaign, which is gaining significant momentum these
days.
2)    Member of the Levy Commission: The Actions of the PA – a Window
of Opportunity for Sovereignty
The international law authority, member of the Levy Commission and one
of the people responsible for the wording of the Oslo Accords, Dr.
Alan Baker, considers the recent procedures of the Palestinian
Authority as a flagrant violation of its agreements with Israel, a
fact that enables Israel, according to international law, to take its
own steps in its best interests.
The authority in international law Dr. Alan Baker, one of the members
of the Levy commission and one of the people responsible for the
wording of the Oslo Accords, stated in the Sovereignty Conference that
took pace yesterday (Wednesday, May 28) in Haifa, that because of the
recent steps taken by the PA, a rare window of opportunity has been
created for the official annulment of the Oslo Accords and for Israel
to act according to its best interests.
At the conference, which was organized by the Women in Green movement
and the student organization, National Vision, Dr. Baker opened his
words with the historical and irrevocable right of the People of
Israel to its Land, a right that any believer in the bible is familiar
with, even Christians, and anyone who reads ancient historians of
Greece and Persia, who describe the Jewish tribe whose customs are
different and meticulously maintained. "The nations recognized the
right of the Jewish People to renew its national home and this was
entered as a legal obligation into the Mandate that was given to the
British and was recognized afterward in the UN declaration of 1945.
The legal continuity was recognized in the UN declaration and it is
irrevocable", states Baker, relating to the international legal status
of Israeli rule in the Land.
Nevertheless he reminds us that the Muslims also claim to be
indigenous and because of this claim it was decided to establish
political negotiations in which, within the framework of the Oslo
Accords, it was decided that the final status will be resolved only
with agreement between the two sides. Baker notes that there have been
repeated collapses of negotiations in the past, but according to
Baker's claim, the recent steps taken by the PA constitute a
significant political reason for the Israeli leadership to change
direction, if they so desire.
"This time something happened that has not happened before. The
Palestinians did something that was not done until now when they made
three violations of their obligations according to the agreements
between them and us, meaning the Oslo Accords. They changed their
status and announced to the general secretary of the UN that they are
joining the nations as a state despite the fact that it is clearly
written in the Oslo Accords that such a step is forbidden. When they
did this they made a basic violation of the agreement between us.
Another violation is when they conducted foreign relations and signed
international conventions, which is forbidden for them to do according
to the agreement between us. But the third thing and the straw that
broke the camel's back is the renewal of relations between them and
Hamas. Included in the Oslo Accords is the Palestinian obligation to
dismantle all terror organizations and when they join the Hamas
organization, which is a terror organization that does not rescind its
terrorist character, there is a super basic violation here", states
Baker.
In view of these violations he adds that "international law states
that in the case of such a violation – as in any contract – this
grants the other side the possibility to see the agreement as having
been canceled and it can act as it sees fit, unilaterally. As an
international jurist I say that we have a window of opportunity that
never existed in the past. There is a violation on the other side and
we have the option to declare the annulment of the Oslo Accords and
act according to our security interests and do what is necessary for
us to do. These things are in the government's hands", states Baker.
These things were said in the framework of another of the conferences
for the application of Israeli sovereignty over Judea Samaria and the
Jordan Valley. More than two hundred and fifty people came to the
conference, which was organized by the Women in Green movement and
National Vision, and they were presented with details of the vision of
sovereignty, a realistic, ethical and Jewish vision that constitutes
an alternative to the Left's idea of dividing the Land and
establishing a terror state in its heartland.
Rav Eliyahu Zini, the demographer Yoram Ettinger, the journalist and
economist Eran Bar Tal, Dr. Martin Sherman and Attorney Elyakim
Haetzni, from one of the first communities in Judea and Samaria, also
spoke in the conference.
The conference, which was organized by the Women in Green Movement led
by Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, and National Vision, led by Ariel
Kellner and Israel Shuldiner, was attended by more than two hundred
and fifty people, who were presented with the details of the vision of
sovereignty, a realistic, ethical and Jewish vision that constitutes
an alternative to the Left's ideas of dividing the Land and
establishing a terror state in its very heart.
The conference was received with great enthusiasm by members of the
audience, who remained for quite a while afterward for discussions and
explanations with various speakers, presented their questions and
requested to take part in the hasbara (public relations) efforts of
the sovereignty campaign, which is gaining significant momentum these
days.
Fwd: IRS targeting Pro-Israel groups 501c Tax Exempt Status threatened because of Viewpoint Discrimination, American Foreign Policy Strangles Jewish Settlements, America Finances Terror enabled by taxpayer subsidies of its 501(c)(3) status ,
bs"d
SUNDAY, JUNE 1, 2014 Pro-Israel Group's Lawsuit Against IRS May be Tea Party Game Changer by Daniel Greenfield
Since 2009, Lori Lowenthal Marcus, President of  Z Street has not been able to receive a Charitable Tax Exempt 501c for her organization status since it is under special scrutiny because of their Pro Israel position.
The position of Z Street is that Israel has a right to exist and that Jews have a right to live in all parts of Israel without being removed  and they believe that the goal of the Peace Process is peace and not a Palestinian State.  Z Street wishes to educate the public with accurate information.
The policy position of the United States is to call for a Two State Solution.  I haven't heard a different policy position even though Hamas and the PLO will announce their Unity Government on Monday, June 2, according to Palestinian Arab media outlet Ma'an.
Apparently, from my observation,  after reading the news reports below,  the policy position of the State Department is to strangle the settlements or in nicer language "end the four-decade Jewish settlement enterprise and foster a Palestinian State in the West Bank" and fund terrorism.
In the Wall Street Article, they quote from the New York Times "Why the special scrutiny for pro-Israel groups? A New York Times article in July 2010 provided a clue: Tax-exempt groups were donating to West Bank settlers, and State Department officials wanted the settlers out. "As the American government seeks to end the four-decade Jewish settlement enterprise and foster a Palestinian state in the West Bank," the Times wrote, "the American Treasury helps sustain the settlements through tax breaks on donations to support them."
"Asked about the slow pace of approval, the IRS auditor on the case, Diane Gentry, said the application was taking so long because auditors were supposed to give special scrutiny to groups "connected with Israel." Ms. Marcus says Ms. Gentry further explained that many applications related to Israel had to be sent to "a special unit in D.C. to determine whether the organization's activities contradict the Administration's public policies.""
I would like to address what the New York Times suggests as being relevant even though as Ms. Lori Lowenthal Marcus points out, her organization Z Street, does not provide resources to anyone so this excuse doesn't even apply to her organization. Z Street is suing the IRS for viewpoint discrimination.
For our discussion however, let us assume that an organization actually sends resources to aid settlement in Judea and Samaria.  These monies go towards helping to pay purely humanitarian causes, help agricultural initiatives, schools, playgrounds, medical services, promote business for both Jews and non Jews alike.  A company like Soda Stream is a role model business that builds  healthy and productive communities. In addition funds of the organization might go towards exposing acts of terror.  This money definitely would not go to fund terror or fund the education of terror.  Until now the guidelines have been nontransparent and the IRS was able to withhold the applications without explanation.  We hope that this is no longer true. Sultin Knish Daniel Greenfield writes "A federal judge refused to dismiss a suit brought by a pro-Israel group against the IRS. In her ruling, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson demanded that the agency stop “attempting to thwart this action’s advancement,” and ordered the IRS to respond to the complaint within thirty days."
Wall Street Journal REVIEW & OUTLOOK: Curious IRS Timing. Did the tax agency also target groups that support Israel?
http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424127887323975004578503040989151234
It occurred to me that perhaps this is the explanation why the State Department  and Administration is so anxious to portray the Settlers of Yitzhar as terrorists, comparing them  to Nazi's.   This occurred after some slashing of tires following a demolition of one of their homes. This explains blowing up out of proportion "Price Tag" Vandalism.  This fabrication blood libel has spurred a witch hunt that targets the settler community. http://shemittahrediscovered.blogspot.com/2014/05/letter-from-eliezer-re-israel-police-in.html The identity of the perpetrators have yet to be identified and staged vandalism by Arabs not Jews has been exposed.
Perhaps the State Dept. understands that if they can prove that the settlers engage in acts of terror, they can justify strangling their communities and shut their funding.
 Under US pressure, Netanyahu suspends some settlement plans
10 days after Deputy DM Danon told Times of Israel of a 'silent freeze,' PM reportedly tells settler leaders he's had to partially halt building programs
BY RAPHAEL AHREN AND JTA May 30, 2014
Ten days after Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon told The Times of Israel that Benjamin Netanyahu had imposed a "silent freeze" on settlement building, the prime minister reportedly confirmed that he has suspended some construction in West Bank settlements, and cited American pressure.  Netanyahu told a group of settler leaders that the activity of the planning council of Israel's Civil Administration, the body responsible for authorizing construction in the West Bank, had been partially suspended because the United States demanded it, the news site nrg.co.il reported Friday. Netanyahu, who met Thursday night with mayors from 20 West Bank settlements, said the United States recently demanded that the Civil Administration not only refrain from issuing tenders for construction, but also freeze the activity of its planning committee altogether and not approve new projects that would later require tenders.
One of the visiting mayors told Netanyahu that not allowing the planning council to convene meant a de facto freeze on construction because "without its approval, the smallest actions cannot be completed, even not placing a lamp post above the guard post, much less preparing for the coming school year," nrg reported.
I am glad the State Department understands that the financing of terror is bad and should not receive the benefit of American Tax Exempt Status.
America Finances Terror enabled by taxpayer subsidies of its 501(c)(3) status ,
Award winning Edwin Black in his book Financing the Flames, shows that organizations that do promote and fund terror however are being financed by America.
It seems that organizations who work to strengthen healthy and productive settlement and economy in Judea and Samaria for Jews and by natural extension Arabs as well, feel that their tax exempt status threatened.
 It is no surprise that practically every Jewish Organization is afraid to say that Judea and Samaria is an integral part of Israel since they are afraid that this is contrary to American policy and as a result they might lose their tax exempt status.
  • Asst. Sec. of State Misleads Congress on Terror Salaries  SUNDAY, JUNE 1, 2014
In testimony to Congress, US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, Ambassador Anne W. Patterson, defended the Palestinian Authority (PA) practice of paying salaries to terrorists in prison saying "they have to provide for the families."  (So monies that go for a humanitarian purpose (funded by US) to pay for families of terrorists as social welfare aid is legit while at the same time the US encourages the State of Israel to demolish homes of productive settlers in a cruel fashion http://shemittahrediscovered.blogspot.com/2014/05/maale-rechavam-pls-watch-again-english.html
  leaving them homeless are denied funding? my comments Robin Ticker)
However, Palestinian Media Watch has documented repeatedly that this is not correct. According to PA law and in practice the PA does not give stipends to terrorist prisoners' families but salaries to the terrorist prisoners themselves.
PMW has already reported that the PA Minister of Prisoners vocally rejected the claim that the payments are social welfare aid to the prisoners' families, stressing instead that the prisoners receive salaries "out of esteem."
  • Another example: California Taxpayer Money Hijacked for Faculty Terrorist Meetings?
Someone robbed California taxpayers, using their money to allow college faculty to meet and support Palestinian Arab terrorists. Was it SFSU administration or faculty? http://www.jewishpress.com/news/breaking-news/california-taxpayer-money-hijacked-for-faculty-terrorist-meetings/2014/05/30/
  • Here is another example: The New Israel Fund, enabled by taxpayer subsidies of its 501(c)(3) status, has been a pivotal funder of the BDS movement that wages economic war against IsraelUntil 2011, the NIF was a lead supporter of the Coalition of Women for Peace, which established a global BDS infrastructure. According to NIF financial records, in 2008 alone, the NIF bestowed $93,457 upon the Coalition of Women for Peace. Over a period of years, NIF financing of this organization reached a strong six-figure sum, which included both direct grants and those where the NIF acted as a go-between for other donors--a technique they called "donor advised funding."
    The NIF no longer provides money to the Coalition of Women for Peace. Now, the CWP is strong enough to gather its monies from other sources. But detractors say -- the irreparable damage was done. Moreover, the BDS movement today is fortified by a conveyor belt of brutality and oppression accounts--some legitimate, some exaggerated, some invented -- force fed to the world by agitation NGOs, including many financed by the New Israel Fund. NIF's financial records for 2012 indicate that it granted $109,615 to Breaking the Silence, $255,477 to B'Tselem, and $209,161 to Adalah. These three groups are among dozens of NIF grantees that critics accuse as operating on the front lines of anti-Israel information and distorting the facts about international law as it affects Israel. Numerous Knesset members and Israeli military men have gone on record to decry the NIF as a well-financed, foreign, multinational NGO, hell-bent on "destabilizing the Israel Defense Forces" and erasing the Jewish identity from the State of Israel.
    For example, NIF recipient Adalah's admitted mission is to erase Israel's Jewish identity and get Israelis prosecuted for war crimes in foreign capitals. On its website, Adalah brags of its robust role in the now-retracted Goldstone Report that accused Israel of war crimes in Gaza. B'Tselem provides cameras to agitators involved in orchestrated confrontations with Israeli soldiers, even as it tolerates repeated child endangerment by Palestinian provocateurs in the process. Another NIF recipient, an online publication known as +972, has published a Photoshopped image graphically depicting Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu and other Israeli leaders in their underwear holding their crotches while carrying rifles, as well as a cartoon depicting former Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barack raping and eating the limbs of Barack Obama in outer space.
    On its website main page, Partners for a Progressive Israel, prominently encourages the boycott of such Israeli products as Ahava and Sodastream. If the Sodastream facility were being run by Mormons from Utah, Polish nuns from Warsaw, or Mennonites from Indiana, it would be up for a Nobel Prize. Moreover, when confronted and called on it, no one can reliably cite the international law Sodastream is allegedly violating with its factory known to treat all equally.
Ma'ale Rechavam! Pls Watch again. English Subtitles pls? Singing and Dancing on Har Habayit, Yibaneh Hamikdash, Yom Yerushalyim was when by Shmuel Sackett, The Price of Oslo by Moshe Feiglin
bs"d
Please watch again,
  • What happened in Ma'ale Rechavam on the day Adam and Genya were expelled with cruelty from their home and their home demolished.
 מה שקרה ביום הגירוש במעלה רחבעם- האוהל של אדם וג׳ניה
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6Rl8lYSbw0
Let us keep on showing this video with English, French, Russian, Spanish etc. subtitles so that people finally get it and so we can stop further expulsions.
Let us ask ourselves.  Why in heavens name did the gov't of Israel throw these people out of a home that was built with such love. How often can we find such open love between husband and wife, love of the land, a sense of pride and accomplishment in building with ones own hand where there was nothing there but desert and barren land. What a work of love.   A farm.  Children, Goats and chickens, Trees and plants in the desert, eggs and milk. Who knows what else.   A tent.  What an amazing role model these people are for us and our children!!! A family that lives with peace with their Arab neighbors. No trouble whatsoever.  Occasionally they sit and drink a cup of coffee together.  And we callously destroyed it all?  For what reason? Each time the excuse changes.  Just so that the piece of Land should be free of Jews????? Are we insane?  How can't we see the beauty of this home? It is just so painful to see young men given orders to physically tear little children away from their mother and seeing their father carried away, shackled in handcuffs like a violent criminal and then bear witness of destruction of hours and hours of a labor of love.  Who are the victims?  Not just the family that lived here.  True they lost all their possessions.  They have no home.  Years of labor destroyed within minutes.  They know that the life they led was good and how they lived their life was right and they have no regrets. They will rebuild.
What about those they came to throw them out? What will be with these young soldiers? How will they think of themselves after they go home?  How will they face their wives? How will they face their kids? How will they look in the mirror and face themselves.  How will they be able to go into their kids bedrooms and tuck their child   knowing that there is a family who once had a very happy home and he helped destroy it for no reason.    I think I feel more sorry for these soldiers then for the family they just expelled. How can they justify their actions.  The wound in the soldiers heart will fester and his human soul will cry for the senseless pain he inflicted upon those who are innocent.
  • Unreported 'price-tag' actions By YISRAEL MEDAD, ELI POLLAK
05/28/2014. The one-sidedness of the media is fuel in the hands of those who believe that their violent deeds can lead to anything good. Over 48 hours (May 23-24), there were no less than 69 stone-throwing and fire-bombing attacks against Jews in Judea and Samaria (Yesha)
  • Yom Yerushalayim was WHEN? By Shmuel Sackett
This special day marks the modern miracle called "The Six Day War" in which many areas of our holy land were liberated and returned to their  rightful owners. Places like Hebron, Shechem, Bet El, Kever Rachel, Shilo, the Jordan Valley and all of the Golan Heights were taken away from the enemies of Hashem and returned to the Tribes of Israel. As a matter of fact, if you write down the name of every place in Israel mentioned in the Bible, an astonishing 93% of them were redeemed during that miraculous war! I hope you absorbed what I just wrote: 93% of the places mentioned in TaNaCH, the places we read about in the weekly parsha and haftora, the places where our greatest prophets and leaders are resting, the places where historic battles took place and where promises were made by Hashem to our people – 93% of these very places were imprisoned and held captive. Yet on this great day, they were liberated and set free!! What a miracle!! What an awesome privilege to live and experience this before our eyes!!  read more....
  • The Price of Oslo – 933 Billion Shekels and Counting, by Moshe Feiglin Jewish Leadership faction of Likud is shocked to find that failed 'peace' attempt cost twice as much as previously thought.  The failed attempt at regional peacemaking known as the Oslo Process has cost the state of Israel over 900 billion shekels – more than $250 billion – since 1993, and the costs keeps rising, according to a study by the Likud party's Jewish Leadership faction, which is headed by MK Moshe Feiglin (Likud-Beytenu). By comparison, the total state budget for 2014 has been set at about 400 billion shekels, or about $115 billion. http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/180869#.U4g5M_ldXa1
