Israel is Stable and Strong, While Neighboring Countries Collapse

Adapted, with additions in brackets, from a lecture by Middle East expert Dr. Guy Bechor, editor of Gplanet.co.il, by Hillel Fendel

"...precisely today, Israel is flourishing and shining, while the Arab states are dying. What is left of them? Just plots of land… I'm not talking just about Syria, Iraq, Libya and Yemen, which no longer exist for all intents and purposes – but also the other ones which have collapsed during this Corona period. Although some Arab states, such as Syria and Jordan, were later carved out of the land that was supposed to be Jewish, the fact remains that of all these countries, barely anything remains! We see that Israel is the only one of all that can support itself!..."

San Remo Conference Mandate for Palestine

We are currently marking the 100th anniversary of the San Remo Conference, in which the world community [– represented by the victors of World War I and the leaders of the free world –] recognized the Jewish People's right to its national homeland, from the Mediterranean all the way to Iraq. The Balfour Declaration, [recognizing Jewish national rights in the Holy Land alongside individual civil rights for the Arabs there,]  was essentially ratified in San Remo, paving the way for the League of Nations, and later the United Nations, to do the same.

And so, the San Remo Conference reinstated Israel 100 years ago, as the Jewish People returned to the stage of history after 2,000 years. Of course, the Fake News industry won't report on this important milestone... I even expected that Israel's Foreign Ministry would hold an international conference to mark this critical milestone – but alas, this did not happen…

And so, we are proud to mark the date here and now. Not only was a Jewish State basically established, at least potentially, with borders all the way to Iraq, including the Golan Heights - but the Jewish People's right to a state was recognized internationally. This international law stands by our side even today, because what was agreed at San Remo is actually still extant and obligatory – for it was ratified by the League of Nations, and later, by its successor, the UN. Thus, the Partition Resolution of Nov. 1947 [in which the UN voted to divide the smaller part of the Land of Israel, the part that lies west of the Jordan River, into two parts, Jewish and Arab] is simply not valid!  This is because it was voted on by the UN General Assembly, and not by the UN's Security Council, and cannot override that which was accepted at San Remo. As such, our rights to the entire Land of Israel west of the Jordan (not to mention the parts east of the Jordan; as Herut used to say: "This side is ours, and the other as well") are clear, because the original San Remo resolution is still binding today!

We therefore come and make our case not from a place of inferiority, but from one of simply fulfilling our international rights.

100 years later, precisely today, Israel is flourishing and shining, while the Arab states are dying. We see that Israel is the only one of all that can support itself!  All the others live today on donations and charity, and will get to the point where they will require rescue – aid that they will not receive.

Yes, Israel receives American aid – but it all goes only for military aid, and is only 1% of our GNP. [Even more telling, a large majority of these funds must be spent on the acquisition of US defense equipment, services, and training – which is why this aid to Israel is seen by many as "a subsidy for U.S. industries," according to Kenneth M. Pollack.] Would it only be that we soon reach the moment that it starts to decrease, because we no longer need it. And the Americans profit greatly on their aid to us, because we are the country that "breaks in" the equipment that they manufacture. We were the only ones, for instance, to have broken in the F-35 jets they sold us, and this is a great bonus for the Americans and US security.

The other Arab countries in the Middle East are collapsing because they either relied on tourism, or on oil - both of which are suffering today. Oil is down to $15 a barrel, whereas Saudi Arabia requires a price of five times that amount in order to reach the break-even point. Egypt and Turkey (not an Arab country) live on tourism; what will they live off now?!

Very important to note: Israel's credit rating is stable, as we saw over recent days that Israel has remained at between A+ and AA-, whereas the credit ratings of the Arab countries are plummeting! Lebanon has dropped to the level of CC, just like Venezuela – meaning it's dead, bankrupt. Israel is stable; our external debt is only 8% of our GNP, and our reserves of foreign currency stand at $126 billion! The Bank of Israel has been buying many, many dollars, and is now sitting on a mountain of dollars. This should not be wasted, of course, but we have it and it grants us stability.

Take Turkey: they wasted $200 billion trying to buttress their failing lira, and in the end, when the crisis came, the lira went down to 7 for each dollar, and soon it will be down to 9 per dollar, and they will be left with only 1.5 billion $ in reserves, while little Israel has $126 billion!

We have one of the leading economies in the world, and among the leaders in GNP per capita, and in development and other measures as well. This is the time for us to carry out major economic reforms… Our credit rating is stable, while that of the Arab countries around us is sinking. Saudi and Russia are looking at the falling oil prices and their heart sinks.

Among the collapsing neighboring countries is Iran, which is what enables us to strike at the Iranians – according to foreign sources – and their bases in Syria. Syria itself continues to sink, with ongoing tensions with Turkey, and the threat of the Idlib battles in the ongoing civil war still awaiting them. The fact that Iran is collapsing allows us to strike at them, several times in the past few weeks. Hizbullah, which is involved in transferring military equipment between Lebanon and Syria, has been drawn into the fighting there, and the militias are getting hit, and some of the fighters are running away because there is no money – and all this allows us to attain better results in Syria. [It was even reported today that the Iranians themselves are beginning to withdraw from Syria, under Israeli offensive pressure.]

Is it time for us to get out of the Corona lockdown? Yes, gradually – but everyone has to show responsibility, wearing masks, etc. But this is also the great opportunity for all of us – certainly the self-employed – to really give it our best in order to get the economy back up and running. Now is not the time to complain and demand government handouts, but to show initiative, advertise small businesses on Google and the like, to get out and bring to Israel a level of growth never yet seen in the world. Some restrictions are still in place, and they must be maintained and followed, but we can start showing now what will be at the end of this catastrophe. In the EU, there are over a million sick people, with some 100,000 dead!  In the US, close to a million are sick and over 52,000 have died! Truly this is a real catastrophe!

World hunger is another threat – and Israel must be prepared to form a strong government already, one that will make strong decisions such as closing off our borders and stopping up its permeable holes. The Supreme Court must not intervene in these issues; its job is to issue judicial rulings, while the government must be allowed to rule and make important decisions.
