NABLUS (Ma'an - Palestinian news agency) -- More than a thousand Israelis escorted by Israeli forces visited Joseph's Tomb in the northern occupied West Bank district of Nablus on Sunday night, sparking clashes with local Palestinian youth.

Palestinian security sources told Ma'an that Israeli settlers from different settlements across the West Bank traveled in 24 buses and arrived to the religious site near the Balata refugee camp, where they performed religious rituals until dawn.

Clashes broke out in the area, with Israeli soldiers reportedly firing tear gas and sound bombs, and Palestinian youth throwing rocks and empty bottles.

An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma'an that Israeli forces escorted 1,200 Israelis to Joseph's Tomb when "violent riots" erupted, with dozens of Palestinians throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails.

She added that Israeli forces used "riot dispersal means," including rubber-coated steel bullets.

No injuries were reported on either side.

The visit by Israelis comes during the Jewish high holidays, a day before the holiday of Yom Kippur.

Joseph's Tomb -- revered by Jews, Muslims, Christians, and Samaritans -- is the site of regular visits by Israelis, who are escorted by Israeli military forces to the area, often leading to clashes with local Palestinians.

Under the 1993 Oslo Accords, Joseph's Tomb was to remain under Israeli control, but the Palestinian Authority (PA) took over the site after the Israeli army withdrew during the Second Intifada.

As part of security cooperation with the PA, the Israeli army allows Jewish worshipers to make monthly pilgrimages to the site.

The artificiality of a Palestinian identity is reflected in the attitudes and actions of neighboring Arab nations who never established a Palestinian state themselves.

 

Arabs in neighboring states, who control 99.9 percent of the Middle East land, have never recognized a Palestinian entity.

 

The Arabs never established a Palestinian state when the UN in 1947 recommended to partition Palestine, and to establish "an Arab and a Jewish state" (not a Palestinian state, it should be noted).

 

Nor did the Arabs recognize or establish a Palestinian state during the two decades prior to the Six-Day War when the West Bank was under Jordanian control and the Gaza Strip was under Egyptian control.

 

Nor did the Palestinian Arabs clamor for autonomy or independence during those years under Jordanian and Egyptian rule.

 

And as for Jerusalem: Only twice in the city's history has it served as a national capital. First as the capital of the two Jewish Commonwealths during the First and Second Temple periods, as described in the Bible, reinforced by archaeological evidence and numerous ancient documents. And again in modern times as the capital of the State of Israel.

 

It has never served as an Arab capital for the simple reason that there has never been a Palestinian Arab state.

Identify with Amona, a community slated for demolition based on a very questionable claim by NGOs hostile to Israel that it is built on Palestinian Land.

The claim that the Land belongs to an unknown Arab who has yet to come forth, upheld by Israeli Supreme Court,  has its roots in the Supreme Court of Israel refusing to dispute Israel's "belligerent Occupation" of the "West Bank" and whose rulings consistently are biased against Jewish Settlement in Judea and Samaria.

This fight goes to the root of Arab aggression, Arab terror, and BDS. 

Arabs justify their "Armed Struggle" a politically correct name for terrorism on Israel's "Belligerent Occupation".

BDS as well can not be eradicated unless we address the root of its justification, which is again Israels's "Belligerent Occupation" of the West Bank.
