Shavuot and Sinai - Ump Says Boy Can't Play Ball With Tzitzit: COL Be a Humble Mountain

bs"d

Ump Says Boy Can’t Play Ball With Tzitzit; Team Walks Off Field

Little Leaguer has to choose between team uniform, "God uniform".

Celebrate Israel Parade. Judea and Samaria represented Baruch Hashem but where were the Spectators at the Israel Day Parade?????? with 35,000 attending?

bs"d

If you looked down Fifth Ave this past Sunday, a beautiful day, a gift from heaven, with an estimated 35,000 in attendance you wondered where the spectators were?  Where were the expected crowds on such a beautiful day?

Allow me to speculate.

Who basically marched in the Parade?

"As has been the case in recent years, young, Orthodox marchers from yeshivas and religious schools far outnumbered all the rest, many sporting the orange-colored shirts that have become de rigueur among right-wingers since the protest against the 2005 Gaza Disengagement. The audience also seemed to be made up mainly – though not exclusively, by any means – of Orthodox Jews."

Let me tell you my first hand experience in this year's Parade.

The barricades kept all the spectators away from 5th Ave.

It was the most bizarre thing.

Personally, I arrived at 51 Street and couldn't get to 52nd Street. In order to cross to the other side of 51st Street I needed to be herded with a bunch of other spectators within the barriers set there by the New York City Police Dept. and wait for the cops to allow us to finally cross in between marching groups.  And then there was absolutely no way to get to 52nd Street since the barriers were blocking us and the options were to go all the way to either 6th Ave. on the West Side or Madison Ave. on the East Side of Fifth ave. and back again to 5th Ave.  It was the most frustrating thing.  Actually, I wanted to walk towards 72nd Street down the sidewalk of 5th Ave watching the Parade as I did in previous years according to my recollections, or alongside a group but that  was almost impossible!  AFter all it seemed to me that unless you were part of a group with the proper T shirt you couldn't walk or march down 5th Ave or even barely get to the sidewalk without crossing a barrier.

The crowd control really ruined the Parade for me as a spectator!  I never recall such ridiculous use of police at what should have been an enjoyable event primarily for spectators and for the marchers as well. Was it my imagination to think that  if you weren't a marcher this year, they didn't really want you to enjoy/participate in the Parade.  Was this a way to get back at all of us right wingers who protested and who said that we would be at the Parade but not march?  Were they afraid of the crowd booing some of the organizers for allowing the BDS groups or perhaps that they were afraid that we would be spreading literature to the over 200 groups, mainly right wing groups according to Haaretz,  that were marching as to the dangers of BDS and our indigenous rights to Judea and Samaria.   Am I being paranoid? Or was this simply a matter of security as everyone assumed??

Perhaps it is the cynical side of me that guesses that primarily it was their concern to keep control of the message of the Parade rather than the Security aspect that guided their decision making process in putting up all those barriers.

So I finally walked down Madison Ave. to get to 72nd Street taking detour to 63rd Street and 5th Ave on the east side in order to touch base with Rabbi Abadie's group and Richard Allen of JCCwatch and AFsi.

How disappointed the marchers must have been not to have the usually crowd cheering them on.  Most of the Spectators were either herded with barricades on street corners or walking down Madison or 6th Ave. missing the entire Parade.

The worst part was coming to 72nd street, the only corner where one could cross for several blocks, from the east side to the west side and being part of a huge crowd of people sandwiched like sardines in between the barriers waiting for the cops to allow the crowd to finally cross the Street. It was claustrophobic and the feeling that overcame me at the moment was "Is this the way my parents and grandparents felt when they were herded into the Cattle Cars in Europe?

What a totally depressing moment.

The few minute I did get to watch the Parade was enjoyable as usual. Too bad it was just for a few moments.

I'd like to share pictures sent to me of Signs in support of Judea and Samaria marching down 5th Ave.

Let me single out ZOA who had the best signs and T shirts!   Their slogans

"HEBRON The First Capital of the Jewish People   ZOA  (Zionist Organizaiton of America)

Jews have continuously lived in the Land of Israel for 3,500 Years

The Land of Israel was called "Judea" under the Greeks and Romans because it is the Home of the Jewish People

Israel Day Concert With a Message Summer Stage Central Park 2014. Concert Theme Undivided Jerusalem. What is the reality?? Netanyahu pledges to not divide Jerusalem but he divides it in practice -

bs"d

Watch: Israel Day 'Concert With a Message' Brings Out the Crowds.
Thousands turn out to 21st annual Israel Day Concert, wrapping up a day of Israeli pride.
http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/181285#.U4ywH_ldXOg

Anyone that was at today's concert was totally impressed by the high standard of  professionalism, level of entertainment and exuberant crowd cheering on the Star Studded Performers and Amazing speakers. http://shemittahrediscovered.blogspot.com/2014/06/today-let-your-voices-be-heard-concert.html  Musical Director- Zvika Bornstein did an amazing job!  It was truly magnificent up till the very last minute with a grand united finale and stars coming back for a 2nd showing to the delight of the audience. Each performance outdid the other. Each speaker outdid the other!  The sound system for the Park was fabulous,  The giant screen in the background enhanced every performance with images that kept the attention of those of us in Central Park - Summer Stage riveted on the stage or on the screen as never before.  The concert went to a higher level and we are all excited for the next grand concert.     As concerts go, this one topped them all.

Actually the Concert had four themes and these themes were reflected in both the music and the speeches

  • JERUSALEM: UNITED, FOREVER---Never to be divided again,
  • No further concessions of ANY part of the Land of Israel (Yisrael HaShleima),
  • Stopping Iran NOW, and
  • Countering the  Boycott, Divest and Sanction (BDS) movement!

So in spite of it all, we have not yet reached the summit.
כִּי לֹא-בָאתֶם עַד-עָתָּה--אֶל-הַמְּנוּחָה וְאֶל-הַנַּחֲלָה (דברים יב ט) Unfortunately....we can not assume it's all good. ....

There was one very annoying feature that probably didn't annoy most people but being that I am super sensitive, it annoyed the daylights out of me. It was this banner of an Israeli Flag with blue as the top stripe and read white and blue as the bottom stripe. The words Undivided Jerusalem was printed in bold print on the banner.   It was this banner image that kept on resurfacing time and time again throughout the entire performance. It was a recurring motif  As the performance progressed, there were Baruch Hashem images of the Israeli Flag, Kachol Lavon, blue and white upon the entire map of Israel Eretz Yisroel Hashleima, without red white and blue there to remind us that we are always beholden to America. with glaring red and blue headlights as top borders of the stage.

I would have much preferred sticking with white and blue headlights and the white and blue Israeli Flag.   I, like many other feel that the Israeli Flag is just fine the way it is and doesn't need any other symbolism added to it.  Recently one of the settlers thrown out of his home in Ma'ale Rechavam remarked that he liked our flag the way it was and didn't want other images.  (wasn't sure which other images he was referring to). This Israeli Flag with red , white and blue was incongruous with songs like Anachnu Maaminim bnei Maaminim.. there is noone to rely upon except Hashem or Mi Shemaamin lo Mefached....One who believes is not afraid.....Hashem Melech, Hashem Malach, Hashem Yimloch LeOlam Vaed,  Hashem is King, Hashem is King, Hashem will be King forever and ever.  It wasn't congruous with the messages of Deputy Defense Minister, MK Danny Danon, Rabbi Algaze, Mort Klein, Dr. Paul E. Brody, Dr. Joseph Frager, Helen Freedman, John Bolton and Ted Cruz.

Until the very end of the performance, the Israeli flag with the words imprinted Undivided Jerusalem with the red white and blue kept making an appearance.  It made me uneasy.   When Ted Cruz and John Bolton spoke, and they spoke really fantastically, I thought that perhaps this was a good time to graphically show allegiance with America.  Especially when John Bolton was telling Israel don't wait for America in order to attack Iran since it won't happen in the next two and a half years,  but do what you must and brace yourself for International condemnation and just make sure that America will support your right for self defense and make sure that America will help to rearm you when Israel's enemies surrounding her from all sides prepare to attack. Then an Israeli flag together with red white and blue made some sense. I would trust John Bolton representing America as Israel's friend.   Or perhaps when Ted Cruz, the Guardian of Israel in Congress spoke, the Israeli white and blue banner with the Start Spangled banner appearing together makes  sense.  But I wouldn't merge the two into one with the words Undivided Jerusalem imprinted,  thereby confusing our individuality and identity..  It's not just the symbolism, it's the reality of the situation that is disturbing. This idyllic representation of  America supporting an undivided Jerusalem lulls us into believing that all is well when in fact the opposite is true.

The slogan "Undivided Jerusalem" brought to the surface painful recollections of 2007 where activists for Judea and Samaria protested Annapolis. These were my comments and thoughts at the time:

Protesting the Summit in Annapolis:
There are two Coalitions that I know of to Defend Jerusalem.  The first is the Coordinatiing Council of Jerusalem spearheaded by Rabbi Pesach Lerner.  The Second is called Defending Jerusalem Coalition.  .  While I agree that defending Jerusalem is of great importance, let me suggest that we stay focused on the essence of Jerusalem.  What is the essence of Jerusalem?  Jerusalem is not simply a museum piece of years gone by, of two Holy Temples now in ruin.  Jerusalem represents our vision of the future, of being the City of Peace, the City of G-d where G-d's Law rules all of mankind. Ki Mitzion Tetzei Torah U'Dvar Hashem MeiYerushalayim.   From Zion will Torah  emerge and the Word of G-d from Jerusalem.  All of Israel will ascend to Jerusalem three times a year for the holidays of Pesach,  Shavuot and Sukkoth and the Nations of the world will ascend on the Holiday of Sukkot - Tabernacles.  The People of Israel will bring their presents to the Levites and to the  Kohanim, the Priests from the tribe of Levi descending from Aharon and Pinchus..  They will also share their wealth with the poor the proselyte, the widow and the orphan with great joy and happiness and on the 3rd and 6th year of the Shemittah cycle the poor gets extra. . .  These presents will be actual food and money  that they put aside from their Tithes that they separated after a plentiful harvest.  On these special holidays as well as the first and second, fourth and fifth years they  will ascend to Jerusalem with unsurpassed joy and festivities thanking their Creator for all the blessings that were bestowed upon them.  Where are the origins of these gifts?  It comes from the entire Land of Israel.  It comes from the produce of the Land.  On Tabernacles the Nations of the World will also recognize the beauty of Jerusalem and bring their gifts as well.
Can Jerusalem achieve it's  glory if the Land of  Israel is divided???? How can we talk of only saving Jerusalem when the essence of Jerusalem stems from the holiness of the entirety of the land of Israel.  How can we be silent for the grave and terrible fate awaiting Judea and Samaria, the heart of the Land of Israel, and only focus on Jerusalem.  CCJER Coalition is protesting only the Division of Jerusalem.  Have they chosen to disregard the goal of the Summit in Annapolis which is the establishment of a State of Palestine (G-d Forbid ) destroying flourishing model communities in Judea and Samaria and giving the Land to a terror State intent on the destruction of the whole of Israel?.  Knowing Rabbi Lerner and the members of this coalition I am convinced that their reason for not speaking out for Judea and Samaria is simply one of tactics.  They are hoping against hope that if we succeed to save Jerusalem we will stop the State of Palestine as well.  They are counting on the Arabs backing out.  Pesach Lerner and the Coalition members too are against the State of Palestine G-d forbid.
Just ask for their personal opinion.   Clarify their intention.

These words hold true today. We can not merely celebrate a United Jerusalem in lip service alone.  Arieh King and Women in Green burst our exuberant bubble.  כִּי לֹא-בָאתֶם עַד-עָתָּה--אֶל-הַמְּנוּחָה וְאֶל-הַנַּחֲלָה (דברים יב ט We have not reached the summit.  We have a way to go...

Netanyahu pledges to not divide Jerusalem but he divides it in practice

We can not celebrate a United Jerusalem when indeed it is divided.  And without annexing Judea and Samaria, Jerusalem as well can never truly be united! Please read:

Dear Friends,

I decided to watch the entire video of the Ma'ale Rechavim eviction. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6Rl8lYSbw0

I believe we have all become desensitized in the same way that Amalek attacked the Jewish people and the commentaries say that this is like a person jumping into a very hot bath of water which eventually cools down....we have all lost our sensitivity...if we see videos such as this expulsion from Ma'ale Rechavim which just happened a few days ago and we truly believe what the Rebbe says regarding not giving away land and if we have not learnt from the disastrous unilateral disengagement from Gush Katif then something is really wrong if we stay quiet!

What happens below is a reflection on what happens above.....perhaps we need to work on tefilla, tezedoka, achdut amongst yidden I am not sure what the answer is...

*do we remain silent?
*do we call for prayer rallies?
*do we contact our Israeli ambassador?
*do we demonstrate outside the Israeli Embassy?
*do we produce a you tube video showing the importance of Israeli sovereignty over the entire Eretz Yisrael calling for peaceful coexistence?
* do we contact our local rabbis to speak to their congregations?

I await your suggestions.

1)    Rav Zini: Whoever Still Needs Proof Of the Necessity for
Sovereignty Needs a Psychiatrist

Another conference calling for application of Israeli sovereignty over
Judea and Samaria was held yesterday (Wednesday, May 28) in Haifa. Rav
Zini: The discussion on sovereignty is superfluous. This is totally
clear.

Yesterday, another conference in the series of conferences calling for
application of Israeli sovereignty over Judea, Samaria and the Jordan
Valley took place in Haifa. At the conference, which was organized by
the Women in Green movement and the student organization, National
Vision, more than two hundred and fifty supporters of the settlement
enterprise who live in the north took part: religious and secular,
young and mature, immigrants and veteran citizens, who were presented
with various matters relating to the vision of sovereignty.

The event began with words of congratulations to the heads of the Land
of Israel Lobby, MKs Orit Struk and Yariv Levin, for several laws that
they proposed in recent days as initial steps toward application of
sovereignty over Judea, Samaria and the Jordan Valley.

In her opening words, Yehudit Katsover, one of the two leaders of
Women in Green, presented a short overview of the political structure
of the three last decades in which the Left was active in the realm of
public relations, promoting the idea of two states, while the Right
worked on establishing facts on the ground throughout Judea and
Samaria.

Katsover described the Sisyphean battle against the Arab theft of land
throughout Judea and Samaria, a battle that was waged dunam by dunam,
but as a result of understanding the difficulty involved in running
from one plot of land to the next and from one battle to the next,
Women in Green decided to establish and lead an inclusive campaign for
the application of sovereignty.

Nadia Matar, Katsover's partner in the leadership of Women in Green,
noted the process of disenchantment within Israeli society, which has
grasped the reality that the false Arab narrative must be confronted
with the ancient and Jewish truth: the Land of Israel belongs to the
People of Israel and only to the People of Israel. "More and more
Israelis understand the importance of the strategic depth which is
provided by the mountain ridge in light of what was experienced after
the withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and the launching of missiles from
there. More and more citizens understand the economic benefit that
will stem from application of sovereignty over Yosh (Hebrew acronym
for Judea and Samaria) and more and more citizens are internalizing
the true demographic facts that prove that even in this sphere,
history works in our favor".

The first speaker of the conference was the former rabbi of Technion
and the head of Or Vishua Yeshiva, Rav Zini, who stated that the
entire discussion around sovereignty is superfluous because there is
nothing clearer than the ancient right of the People of Israel to its
Land. Regarding this subject he brought up the words that Rav Tzvi
Yehuda Kook said to the journalist who asked him if he could describe
the right of the People of Israel to its land in 10 minutes and his
answer was that of those 10 minutes, 9 of them are not necessary
because the matter is simple and there is no need for clarification or
explanation.

"When a people returns to its land with wondrous miracles and
self-sacrifice and we are still discussing if there is a place for
application of sovereignty on the Land, apparently such a people is in
need of psychiatric care", said Rav Zini with a smile and told of his
friend, a Professor of Mathematics, who told him once that in Israel
we need another 16 million people because every Israeli needs to
engage 2 psychiatrists…

Rav Zini also related what he said in an interview with a journalist,
which aroused the wrath of the president of Technion, Prof. Tadmor.
This was when he supported the idea of a gathering of all peoples and
not only the people of Israel. "He did not like it but I did not
change my stand, despite his threats", said Rav Zini.

The event ended with words from Ariel Kellner, the head of the student
organization, National Vision, who stated that even if it seems that
the vision is a long way from being implemented, persistence and faith
in the vision will lead to practical achievements until it is
realized, in the same spirit as words of the national visionary "If
you will it, it is not a dream".

Also speaking in the conference were Dr. Alan Baker, who was a member
of the Levy Commission and one of the people who wrote the wording for
the Oslo Accords, demographer Yoram Ettinger, journalist and economist
Eran Bar Tal, Dr. Martin Sherman and Attorney Elyakim Haetzni, from
one of the first communities in Judea and Samaria.

The conference, which was organized by the Women in Green Movement,
led by Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, and National Vision, led by
Ariel Kellner and Israel Shuldiner, was attended by more than two
hundred and fifty people, who were given details of the vision of
sovereignty, a realistic, ethical and Jewish vision that constitutes
an alternative to the ideas of the Left of dividing the Land and
establishing a terror state in its very heart.

The conference was received with great enthusiasm by members of the
audience, who remained for quite a while afterward for discussions and
explanations with various speakers; they asked questions and requested
to take part in the hasbara (public relations) efforts of the
sovereignty campaign, which is gaining significant momentum these
days.

2)    Member of the Levy Commission: The Actions of the PA – a Window
of Opportunity for Sovereignty

The international law authority, member of the Levy Commission and one
of the people responsible for the wording of the Oslo Accords, Dr.
Alan Baker, considers the recent procedures of the Palestinian
Authority as a flagrant violation of its agreements with Israel, a
fact that enables Israel, according to international law, to take its
own steps in its best interests.

The authority in international law Dr. Alan Baker, one of the members
of the Levy commission and one of the people responsible for the
wording of the Oslo Accords, stated in the Sovereignty Conference that
took pace yesterday (Wednesday, May 28) in Haifa, that because of the
recent steps taken by the PA, a rare window of opportunity has been
created for the official annulment of the Oslo Accords and for Israel
to act according to its best interests.

At the conference, which was organized by the Women in Green movement
and the student organization, National Vision, Dr. Baker opened his
words with the historical and irrevocable right of the People of
Israel to its Land, a right that any believer in the bible is familiar
with, even Christians, and anyone who reads ancient historians of
Greece and Persia, who describe the Jewish tribe whose customs are
different and meticulously maintained. "The nations recognized the
right of the Jewish People to renew its national home and this was
entered as a legal obligation into the Mandate that was given to the
British and was recognized afterward in the UN declaration of 1945.
The legal continuity was recognized in the UN declaration and it is
irrevocable", states Baker, relating to the international legal status
of Israeli rule in the Land.

Nevertheless he reminds us that the Muslims also claim to be
indigenous and because of this claim it was decided to establish
political negotiations in which, within the framework of the Oslo
Accords, it was decided that the final status will be resolved only
with agreement between the two sides. Baker notes that there have been
repeated collapses of negotiations in the past, but according to
Baker's claim, the recent steps taken by the PA constitute a
significant political reason for the Israeli leadership to change
direction, if they so desire.

"This time something happened that has not happened before. The
Palestinians did something that was not done until now when they made
three violations of their obligations according to the agreements
between them and us, meaning the Oslo Accords. They changed their
status and announced to the general secretary of the UN that they are
joining the nations as a state despite the fact that it is clearly
written in the Oslo Accords that such a step is forbidden. When they
did this they made a basic violation of the agreement between us.
Another violation is when they conducted foreign relations and signed
international conventions, which is forbidden for them to do according
to the agreement between us. But the third thing and the straw that
broke the camel's back is the renewal of relations between them and
Hamas. Included in the Oslo Accords is the Palestinian obligation to
dismantle all terror organizations and when they join the Hamas
organization, which is a terror organization that does not rescind its
terrorist character, there is a super basic violation here", states
Baker.

In view of these violations he adds that "international law states
that in the case of such a violation – as in any contract – this
grants the other side the possibility to see the agreement as having
been canceled and it can act as it sees fit, unilaterally. As an
international jurist I say that we have a window of opportunity that
never existed in the past. There is a violation on the other side and
we have the option to declare the annulment of the Oslo Accords and
act according to our security interests and do what is necessary for
us to do. These things are in the government's hands", states Baker.

These things were said in the framework of another of the conferences
for the application of Israeli sovereignty over Judea Samaria and the
Jordan Valley. More than two hundred and fifty people came to the
conference, which was organized by the Women in Green movement and
National Vision, and they were presented with details of the vision of
sovereignty, a realistic, ethical and Jewish vision that constitutes
an alternative to the Left's idea of dividing the Land and
establishing a terror state in its heartland.

Rav Eliyahu Zini, the demographer Yoram Ettinger, the journalist and
economist Eran Bar Tal, Dr. Martin Sherman and Attorney Elyakim
Haetzni, from one of the first communities in Judea and Samaria, also
spoke in the conference.

The conference, which was organized by the Women in Green Movement led
by Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, and National Vision, led by Ariel
Kellner and Israel Shuldiner, was attended by more than two hundred
and fifty people, who were presented with the details of the vision of
sovereignty, a realistic, ethical and Jewish vision that constitutes
an alternative to the Left's ideas of dividing the Land and
establishing a terror state in its very heart.

The conference was received with great enthusiasm by members of the
audience, who remained for quite a while afterward for discussions and
