Money makes the world go around....Money, money, money, money Two (2) Op-Ed Submissions, on: The Tal Law, and Israel Haters in the NYC Israel Day Parade

bs"d

Two excellent articles sent to me by Daniel Perez.   Please consider for your publications. They will surely spark controversy and lively discussions.

Re: the first article entitled Their Fair Share:  I personally agree with Daniel Perez that in a world of Emes, the Chareidim should not be exempt from serving in the Israeli army because one is required to go to War to fight non-Jews in order to protect the Land even on Shabbat.  It seems very clear to me that Torah Scholars whose training is in "Vehaya Machanecha Kadosh", and your camp shall be H-ly, whose source is Devarim 23:14-15, will surely  be the very best soldiers Israel has to offer.  It is my opinion that in fact boys of army age in the Diaspora have equal obligation to serve in the Israeli army though mentally they are totally unprepared so practically it is not so simple.   Of course, the religious needs of the Israeli soldiers must not be compromised because of the Mitzvah "Vehaya Machanecha Kadosh" which is referring to a military camp. The only thing stopping more Chareidim from joining the Israeli army is the Army's dogmatic refusal to accommodate the Chareidim's religious needs. Why do they insist that they attend army events with female vocalists?

Re: the second article by Richard Allen that was too hot even for the Jewish Voice entitled: Why Are Anti-Israel Groups Marching in the Israel Parade?  here are my comments.

The JCRC who is organizing the Israeli Day Parade has wonderful, dedicated people working for them and the Jewish Voice has wonderful staff and you can't find a more pro Israel, pro Yesha paper.  YET the JCRC is apparently allowing the NIF to march in the Israel Day Parade against their better judgement and the Jewish Voice did not yet print Richard Allens article of protest.  How come?????  Money, money, money money, money, money, money,money.......The JCRC gets funding from the UJA who has a leftist like John Ruskay who is calling the shots.  Did the Jewish Federation threaten to cut off future advertising to the Jewish Voice if they print the article?.....

Here is another sad example of money blinding the wise.  JNF is being honored by Yeshivah of Sderot. In tribute to the JNF's great work in Sderot -

The Guardian of Sderot Awards:

Presented by Russell F. Robinson, JNF CEO

Accepting on behalf of Jewish National Fund:

Stanley M. Chesley, JNF President

&

Isaac Blachor, JNF - Vice President  Israel Relations

JNF Executive Dinner Committee

Russell F. Robinson, Chief Executive Officer

Mitchell Rosenzweig, Chief Financial Officer

Michael Feinman, Greater New York Zone Director

Rabbi Eric M. Lankin, Chief of Institutional Advancement and Education

Because of this Honoree only, AFSI is refusing to go to the Sderot Dinner.  WHAT?  Last year the Sderot Dinner was AMAZING!  Who wants to boycott the Sderot Dinner?  Surely not AFSI!  But this year the Yeshiva of Sderot who by the way does amazing Kiruv in Sderot and have raised morale of the entire city,  are honoring the JNF who donated a playground to Sderot.  Surely that is very commendable. But unknown to most of us who join the Sderot Yeshiva in honoring the JNF is the fact that there is rampant Arab Building on JNF Lands. Please read about

Rampant Arab Building on JNF Lands.  Does JNF plant trees in Judea and Samaria? Yes they do, like in a new Palestinian city Ruwabi.  http://www.haaretz.com/print-edition/news/a-new-palestinian-city-takes-root-with-jnf-trees-1.3218. So if JNF gets their way chas vechalila, they will get to donate lots of playgrounds to rocket shelled towns like Sderot from Palestinians cities which they help build.  How nice!

Other similar patterns of honoring those that empowered the evil forces to destroy Jewish Settlements.

The OU honors Olmert at their Jerusalem dinner.

Meir Panim honors Malcolm Hoenlein who supported the Disengagement which impoverished 10,000 Jews making more needy families to use their soup kitchens. Can you imagine how Meir Panim will  expand if G-d forbid 300,000 Jews are expelled from Judea and Samaria.

The Israeli gov't is adamant about pursuing peace with present day Nazi's.  Netanyahu stubbornly persists in insisting that Israel desires to  return to the negotiating table with the Palestinians and is blind deaf and dumb as per their hateful education and glorification of terrorist and acts of terror .  Every Jew with any brains rationalizes Netanyahus obtuseness and says, it's all lip service.  Deep down Netanyahu doesn't believe that Peace with the PA is possible.  He's a politician.  His hands are tied. He needs America's money or he is being blackmailed.  He really doesn't want a Palestinian State.  Who really cares about a Jewish Outpost or two as long as it keeps International pressure off our backs and American money coming in.

What scares me is that Netanyahu seems to have convinced himself and  others of a Utopian world of Peace with Palestinians taking over our Land .  Check out

It is an innovative nation with a thriving economy. All that's lacking is peace

Dear Editor,

Here are two op-eds submitted for your consideration. One is my own latest piece, about Israel's Tal Law, called "Their Fair Share." If you can stomach running a story on such an Israeli subject, yet written by an armchair Zionist in New York, then by all means please do so. Perhaps my physical distance from the situation on the ground gives me a certain degree of objectivity in the matter?

The premise of the article is that secular Israelis need to stop disparaging the contribution Torah scholars make to Israeli/Jewish society, and that Torah scholars need to stop using their learning as an excuse to throw off their share of the national burden. Either the draft should apply to everyone, or to no one.  A more nuanced explanation can be found below this message.

The second article comes from a colleague of mine, Mr. Richard Allen. He is sounding the alarm about anti-Israel organizations being granted spots in this year's Israel Day Parade in New York. Unfortunately, the story was too hot for my superiors to handle, and the article was cut. I'm hoping you will have both the necessary chutzpah and editorial freedom to help make Mr. Allen's voice heard, as I am trying to do, albeit in a personal capacity, not as an official representative of the Jewish Voice.

Thanks, and please let me know if you use either article.

All the best,

Their Fair Share
By Daniel Perez

Those of you who follow Israeli affairs are probably aware that the Tal Law was declared unconstitutional a few months ago, and the Knesset is now scrambling to find a workable solution to the dilemma created by that law's absence. For those of you scratching your heads right now, the gist of the matter is this: Israel has always tried to strike that delicate balance between being a fair, equitable democratic country, and a Jewish state where Jews are free to Jew all they can Jew. Which makes sense, because if the State of Israel doesn't go out of its way to defend the right of its citizens to live a fully observant Jewish life, how is it any different from the lands of our Exile? In any event, the Tal Law was a law that basically exempted Israeli chareidim ("ultra-Orthodox" Jews) from military service, allowing them to remain in yeshiva, and receive government funds to support their families while they learn.

This is doubly aggravating for Israelis who don't immerse themselves in Torah, because they see their countrymen not contributing to the nation's defense (at least not tangibly), nor to its economic welfare (i.e. they're learners, not earners), yet still living off the government dole. The fact is that these people who dedicate themselves to Torah study full time put their hearts and souls into their learning, ultimately to the benefit of us all. But because they're not doing the actual grunt work of sustaining the Zionist enterprise, they are maligned by some as freeloaders. I wonder, when our ancestors were slaves in Egypt, did they resent the tribe of Levi, who were exempted from the rigors of forced labor and permitted to engage in spiritual pursuits?

Let's make this simple. To my secular brothers: Disparaging the importance of Torah scholarship does nothing to further the cause of national unity. Whether or not you believe that all those students in yeshiva bring divine aegis upon the State of Israel, Torah has been our people's lifeblood, sustaining the Nation of Israel for thousands of years of exile. So maybe there's something to it. And to my black-hatted mishpucheh, what I'd like to say is this: If you think that spending your entire adult life with your nose in a book is somehow doing your fair share, while your "less religious" compatriots shed blood, sweat, and tears to protect your freedom to sit and learn all day, you are sorely mistaken.
We should probably clarify something at this point: A large segment of Israel's orthodox Jews (including the "ultra" kind) enlist in the Israel Defense Forces, many of them serving in combat units, with distinction. So there's nothing the secular Israelis can do that the chareidim can't, though specific areas of halakha (Jewish law) preclude certain work scenarios. But that's the balance I was talking about. The balance shouldn't be exempting religious Jews from their share of the nation's burden, it should be seeing to it that their needs vis-à-vis kashrut, modesty, and holiday/Sabbath observance are accommodated to the greatest extent possible. In other words, they should receive the same rights they strive to defend for their fellow Jews.

Bottom line: The draft in Israel should apply to everyone, or it should apply to no one. Either Israel is supported by a volunteer military and civilian workforce, or everyone pitches in, and those chareidim who aren't already doing so, pick up their share of the tab.

For those who as a matter of personal principle cannot engage in military service, an alternative means for them to fulfill their national service requirement should be offered. But we would be remiss if we didn't point out that one of the greatest leaders in Jewish history, King David himself, was not simply a pious monarch. He was a statesman, yes, and a Torah scholar, and a poet, and a warrior; an army general on the front lines fighting for his people, ready to lead by example and even lay down his life for his people if it ever came to that.
Is there any nobler example a Jew could aspire to than that?

Why Are Anti-Israel Groups Marching in the Israel Parade?
By Richard Allen

The Celebrate Israel Parade on June 3rd is a joyous event for the New York Jewish community, when we demonstrate our love and support of Israel. So why are organizations dedicated to destroying Israel's economy through boycotts, divestment and sanctions (BDS) being given the privilege of marching with us?

           One of these groups is openly organizing a boycott against targeted Israeli companies, including Ahava Cosmetics.  Others have supported the infamous Goldstone Report, and funded organizations that urged Norway to divest from Israel.

At the center of the controversy is the New Israel Fund (NIF), which was granted permission to march in last year's parade. Other extremist groups marched with NIF, displaying their individual banners, including B'Tselem, Partners for Progressive Israel and Rabbis for Human Rights. This year, New Israel Fund is slated to march again, and we expect B'Tselem and the other groups will once again join NIF, displaying their banners.
           New Israel Fund has been exposed as receiving funds from the European Union, which seeks to influence internal Israeli politics through a front organization. NIF, in turn, funds numerous Israeli NGOs (non-governmental organizations), some of which promote boycotts, divestment and sanctions against Israel.

           For instance, five grantees of the New Israel Fund (Machsom Watch, Coalition of Women for Peace, Women Against Violence, Social TV, and Mossawa) signed a letter to the Norwegian Government Pension Fund, urging it to divest from Israel.

           Partners for Progressive Israel (also known as Meretz USA) prominently displays on its website, under the heading "boycott these Settlement products sold in the US, "a list of Israeli products that it wants Jews to boycott. These products include Ahava cosmetics, SodaStream products, and wine from nine Israeli vineyards.

           And the chair of B'Tselem's board, Oren Yiftachel, has publicly called for "effective sanctions" against Israel.  B'Tselem is a major grantee of the New Israel Fund.

As a result of public controversy, the New Israel Fund issued a statement in 2010 opposing BDS.  However, despite this stated policy change, NIF continues to fund groups that have a history of working for anti-Israel global BDS campaigns.
We who count ourselves among Israel's true supporters believe that Jewish groups that organize for the economic destruction of other Jews should not be given the honor of marching with our community. Furthermore, we must be mindful of the example we set for our children.  Do we teach them that it's acceptable to try to harm other Jews and weaken Israel?

In light of this unacceptable decision on the part of the parade organizers, I formed the Committee for a Pro-Israel Parade, along with several community-minded members.  Our goal is to inform the parade organizers that the Jewish community rejects the participation of these groups, and to ask them to withdraw their acceptance.

As word has spread about the participation of the New Israel Fund in the parade, many prominent leaders, rabbis, and organizations have added their name to our cause.  We are proud to acknowledge the support of Ron Carner, President of Maccabi USA/Sports for Israel, Rabbi Allen Schwartz of Congregation Ohab Zedek, Rabbi Lisa Malik, PhD of Temple Beth Ahm, Rabbi Jonathan Glass of Civic Center Synagogue, Rabbi David Algaze of Havurat Yisrael, Rabbi Steven Axelman of Whitestone Hebrew Centre, Rabbi Ari Jacobson, Young Israel of Monsey/Wesley Hills, Rabbi Yoel Schonfeld, Young Israel of Kew Gardens Hills, and many other outstanding community leaders.

When Jewish groups hear that organizations linked to the Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions movement are permitted to march in the parade, they're astounded and puzzled.  Why would the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC), which officially organizes the parade, permit such anti-Israel organizations to participate?

Unfortunately, I believe the answer lies in the political ideology of John Ruskay, CEO of the UJA-Federation of New York. Dr. Ruskay exerts significant influence on the JCRC through his organization's funding.  Published reports show John Ruskay worked with Noam Chomsky in one of the first political bash Israel groups; CONAME (Committee On New Alternatives in The Middle East).  John Ruskay also gave over one million dollars of UJA-Federation donations to a radical political group, funded by George Soros, Jewish Funds for Justice.

The issue is clear: Jews who actively work to economically sabotage Israel should not be included in the Celebrate Israel Parade. We ask that you join us in making your views known to the Jewish Community Relations Council and the UJA-Federation New York.

Richard Allen is a prominent New York business executive and an outspoken supporter of Israel. He is the founder of JCC Watch, an NGO established to monitor interaction between American Jewish organizations, and groups that support boycott, divestment, and sanctions against Israel.

In Todays World Efron HaChiti would be sentenced to death for selling Maarat HaMachpela to Abraham. Petitions. in support of Col. Eisner and against expulsion from Migron and Ulpana, remembering Yamit

bs"d

Dear Ministers: Eli Yishai, Avigdor Liberman, Bogy Yaelon, Yuval Steinitz, Gidon Saar, Gilad Erdan and Yisrael Katz,

                             and: Cabinet Secretary Zvi Hauser and Knesset and Coalition chairmen  Ruby Rivlin and Zeev Elkin,

Once again Yasher Koach for standing strong for Yehuda Shomron and Eretz Yisroel Hashleima.  Please continue to gather strength from Hebron and create an alternative to present Likud coalition!

Imagine in the time of Avrohom Avinu had there been a law among Bnei Cheith against selling property to Abraham the Ivri and such a crime for the Chait seller would be the death penalty.  In today's world, Abraham would not have been able to make the purchase of Maarat HaMachpela in front of all the children of Chaith but would have had no choice but to purchase quietly from Efron.   Even if 400 silver shekel, using acceptable currency of merchants, would have exchanged hands and the transaction recorded, I imagine Efron would be afraid for his life and if questioned would declare the documents forged.  As a result, a leftist court would have annulled the purchase of the Maarat Hamachpela and instead would have accepted the false and forced testimony of Efron that the transaction was forged.  After all, what sane Arab dare sell to an Ivri  knowing the fatal consequences.

Perhaps for this reason,  G-d made sure that the transaction between Abraham and Efron happened in front of all the people of Chait, publicly not secretly, in order to teach us that in the future it must be done in a public way where there could no question or denial that the purchase took place and that the purchase was valid. All documents would be examined and forgeries exposed so that no buyer is deceived.

The problem today clearly lies in an Arab law that calls for the death penalty of an Arab seller of property to a Jewish buyer. This law is inherently immoral, antisemitic, anti Israel, anti Arab and anti democratic that is left unchallenged and sanctioned by Sovereign Israel.  The Gov't of Israel, with Barak calling the shots, empowers those that enforce this immoral law and even worse will use the lies generated to justify further immoral laws invented by the leftist Israeli supreme court.

Israel must prosecute those Arabs who torture or murder innocent Arabs who merely sell property to a Jew.

The lives of Arab sellers are in terrible danger.  Jews are denied ownership of  properties rightfully purchased when Arabs out of fear for their lives deny the authenticity of the transaction. To add insult to injury the leftist Israeli Supreme Court orders the destruction of Jewish homes on such properties  and in a cruel manner, without warning, sends armies of soldiers dressed in black, armed in full riot gear, looking to terrorize a bunch of settlers, kids and their parents,  wake up the families with  little kids, late into the night or wee hours in the morning and throws the entire family out of their homes with nowhere to go.

These intolerable acts are done in the name of enforcing "rule of law".  Pretty outrageous! Are we then to remain silent and continue to allow this insane scenario to happen to the next house in Hebron?

There is surely a way to rectify this political lawfare used by Arabs sanctioned by Israel.

Let me suggest the following legislation:

All purchases and transactions by Jews from Arabs should be in a public place for all to see and hear. A new law must be legislated to protect the Arab seller to the fullest, honor the Arab seller and hold accountable and call for the death penalty for anyone found guilty of murdering an Arab seller of property to a Jewish buyer, or being an accomplice of such a crime.  In addition, their families will have their homes taken from them without compensation, and the ownership will be transferred to others.  The families will be thrown out of their homes, expelled, just like they tried to do to Jews. Surely such a law would be a deterrent for Arabs to punish, torture and murder fellow Arabs who sell to Jews.

Arabs who sell to Jews should be honored and rewarded with subsidies for travel and moving expenses  to the destination of their choice.

Surely you have read about.

About Migron:

Founded in 1999 in Samaria-Shomron with the approval of the government of Israel, Migron is a community of 50 families with more than 300 Jewish souls. It is now scheduled for destruction.

Peace Now searched for and found some Arabs to claim that they owned the land, despite having no proof of ownership. In addition to using their standard approach of harassing Israelis and Israel's legal system, Peace Now went to the High Court of Israel and made the claim to the land on behalf of the Arabs. The Court then ordered that the community of Migron be evacuated on August 1, 2012.
Friends of Israel around the world, who are greatly concerned about Israel's legal right to the land, created the "Global Petition to Save Migron and Prevent Any Second Gush Katif from Occurring."
The petition will be submitted to Knesset (Israeli Parliament) Member, Dr. Arieh Eldad on July 1, 2012. Dr. Eldad will then present the petition and signatures to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

 Arlene Kuschner writes about pending destruction of Givat Ha'Ulpana of Beit El:

The red line I am referring to is with regard to the scheduled government (or more precisely the Defense Ministry/Civil Administration) demolition of the Ulpana neighborhood (Givat Ha'Ulpana) of Beit El by the end of this month.

Credit: Haaretz

The neighborhood is comprised of 15 buildings, but we are speaking here of a total of five buildings that are scheduled for destruction imminently.  Those buildings house 30 families, encompassing more than 150 children.

~~~~~~~~~~
That red line has been crossed numerous times, as far as I can see -- as with the expulsion of people from Beit Hamachpela. But this particular situation is so blatantly wrong that a number of the members of the government and members of the Knesset, including numerous Likud people, are seriously up in arms and predicting the demise of the coalition.  And Defense Minister Ehud Barak is being identified as the problem -- although it must always be asked to what degree Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu gives a tacit nod to Barak's decisions.
~~~~~~~~~~

This is the running theme:  For more than 30 years it has been explicit Israeli policy not to build on land privately owned by Palestinian Arabs.  In several instances Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria have been built on land that was not privately owned (by Palestinian Arabs who have come forth) or that had been abandoned for decades.  It must be understood that we are speaking of land that has been under the administrative control of Israel only since 1967, so there are no deeds in Israel offices dating way back on this land; the situation is far more complex, and there is a legal status for abandoned land.

Almost always there is tacit government approval for this building -- as various ministries provide assistance.  (Here I am not speaking of "outposts" with three caravans.) The Ministry of Building signs off on the construction; roads are paved; mortgages are granted; etc. But what is sometimes lacking is the official sign-off of the Defense Minister -- who, as the situation stands, is an inordinately powerful person.

Then, years after the building has been done and Jews have taken up residence, if there is a challenge either by left-wing NGOs or Palestinian Arabs (who often lack documentation), and that challenge ends up in the courts -- the government does not defend the right of Jews to have built on that land and offer to retroactively supply all necessary documents. Rather, there is a pulling back: A declaration of sorts that, well, if there is such a challenge, then by all means, the community must be dismantled.  There has come to be, in fact, a tendency to acknowledge even undocumented land as "Palestinian" once there is a challenge.  (And, in point of fact, sometimes when Arabs come forth with their claims they do not have legitimate documentation as to ownership.)

This dovetails well with the orientation of what has been a very left-wing court, but it is not simply a matter of court decisions.  It's a question of a government inclination to run to do demolitions. And it represents a shift in government policy over the years. At one point settling the land was encouraged, today, this is much less the case -- which goes to the heart of the Zionist venture.

~~~~~~~~~~
What I am hearing from representatives of the Beit El community and the Binyamin regional council to which Beit El belongs is at variance with the story put being out by many media sources:
Beit El is built on land that is recognized as State land -- it had been abandoned land that was held by the army for security reasons, with its status becoming State land.  Some 15 years ago it was recognized that expansion was going to be necessary and Beit El began buying land from Arabs in preparation for that expansion, which began more than 10 years ago.  This applies to the Ulpana neighborhood.  The land on which it was situated was bought from Arabs legally in 2000, but registration was never completed because it would have put the Arab sellers at risk (there is a death penalty in the PA for selling land to Jews).
Seven years later, a pro-Palestinian NGO (possibly Yesh Din) brought forth a cousin of the Arab who had sold the land; he registered a claim that it was really his.  This claim made its way to the High Court, which in fact does not check documentation but establishes "principles."  Contrary to what has been Barak's position on this -- that it's a question of law, so that there is no choice but to demolish the neighborhood -- what I'm being told is that the Court was prepared to take its cue from the government position.  In point of fact, the Civil Administration, having little patience for procedures, pushed the issue to this point. (Please follow this below to see the evidence of this.)
~~~~~~~~~~

Among those who have spoken about what's going on with Ulpana is Minister of Security Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister Moshe (Bogie) Ya'alon (Likud):

The Defense Minister, he said yesterday, "is unfortunately carrying out [a] private political agenda [separate] from the government" and "the demolition of the Ulpana neighborhood and Givat Assaf (about which more at another point) would demand the dissolution of the government – the coalition would collapse...Normative people are suddenly being confronted with questions [on the legal status of their community after being] "told all along that they would not be forced out of their homes."

Education Minister Gideon Sa'ar (Likud) reflected a similar sentiment at a Shabbat function yesterday, when he asked:

"Is there no reasonable solution that does not include the expulsion of Jews? The perception that peace entails the expulsion of Jews from their homes has been tested recently in Gush Katif. We've seen the results of that.

"There is an extraordinary obsession with the destruction of settler homes in the West Bank."

A day earlier, on Friday, Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz (Likud) visited residents of the Ulpana neighborhood, and said:

"If Barak works against the government's position, the Prime Minister must fire him. He took the Ministry of Defense and turned it into a political tool at the expense of the Jewish residents. There are other ways to gather votes.

"I came here to express a clear position that the houses should not be destroyed...There is no doubt that when the government gave its answer to the Supreme Court it did not consider all the consequences of that decision...It is necessary to update the government's position regarding the Ulpana neighborhood."

Katz is working towards establishing a ministerial committee to assume the responsibility the Defense Minister now has.

Environmental Protection Minister Gilad Erdan has also been on board with criticism that Barak's decisions are politically motivated.

(It should be noted that Barak, who broke away from the Labor party and started the Independence Party, is having trouble because that party is not showing the minimum cut-off in polls that would be required in an election for a presence in the Knesset.  Catering to the left would possibly enhance his standing in this regard.)

Others in Likud opposed to the demolition of this neighborhood include Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz, Knesset Speaker Ruby Rivlin, Coalition head Ze'ev Elkin.  And this is hardly a fully comprehensive list.

~~~~~~~~~~
Daniel Hershkowitz, Minister of Science and head of HaBayit Hayehudi and Avigdor Lieberman, Foreign Minister and head of Yisrael Beitenu, have also suggested that the Ulpana issue could have real effects on the coalition in which they participate.
~~~~~~~~~~

MK Danny Danon (Likud) has observed that, "Only left-wing governments would oppose this neighborhood. This is test that Likud must not fail...rejection of the Migron agreement and evacuation of Beit Hamachpela in Hevron were attacks on our communities in Judea and Samaria. The threat to destroy the Ulpana neighborhood is a red line for the nationalist camp - we will not allow this evacuation."

Well, I certainly hope the nationalist camp does not allow that evacuation.  The question is how it will be stopped.  The most encouraging sign is that the prime minister is nervous enough about his coalition right now so that he has convened a task force to find a solution that avoids the demolition of the neighborhood.

~~~~~~~~~~
Various responses of Barak are worth noting here.  First, he remarked snidely, that, "Ya'alon is probably suffering from severe 'Feiglinism' which is not good for the State, its security, its future or the public. We hope this phenomenon is not contagious."  Moshe Feiglin is a right-wing nationalist activist in Likud.  Obviously -- ludicrously -- Barak was attempting to paint Ya'alon as a far-right nut case. But in the opinion of this writer, there is no contest between the Feiglin position and the Barak position with regard to what is good for the State and its future.
~~~~~~~~~~

Then Barak took another tack, which indicates that he is uneasy, or that Netanyahu has communicated unease to him. I ask that you follow this closely, because it puts to lie to so much that had come before:

Attempting to propose a compromise at this morning's Cabinet meeting, Barak suggested that perhaps the Ulpana residents could move from their current location to an alternative location in Beit El:

"We found 22 dunams of land in the town which could, under certain circumstances and after plans are approved, be used to build alternative homes for residents of the neighborhood..."

~~~~~~~~~~
And then...then he said (emphasis added):
"...the question of ownership of the land is still being adjudicated. If it turns out that the land is owned by Palestinianswe would have no choice other than to abandon it or purchase it."
http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/154996
And I say, Stop the presses!  The same Barak who piously declared that honoring the court ruling was a matter of rule of law, which is essential to a democracy, now admits that it has not been determined yet if Arabs own the land? And that if it turns out (a most unlikely eventuality) that Arabs do own it, it might possibly be bought?
Then, why the hell the rush to push out the residents of Ulpana within a week's time?  The answer is that Barak gave a pledge to the court to do so.  The Civil Administration didn't ask for more time to explore the issues, and didn't tell the court that it wanted to re-visit Ulpana's legal status.  It caved, as I described above.  Says Barak:
"This is not about a ruling but a pledge made by the government last year, that neighborhoods and buildings on private land be evicted."  (Emphasis added)
And here the determination that this land is private has not yet been made definitively.  But the court ruling followed the pledge.
~~~~~~~~~~

As to Barak's proposal that the residents be moved, they responded that they are not chess pieces, to be moved about as Barak wishes.

~~~~~~~~~~
Tonight there was a major demonstration in Beit El, attended by a number of MKs and people from all over the country.  Declared MK Tzipi Hotovely (Likud) -- one of several people who spoke -- "We will win!"
Now we must wait to see what transpires.
~~~~~~~~~~

Please note two additional facts about the neighborhood here, which make it all the more unconscionable that it should be demolished:

The neighborhood was erected in memory of Ita Tzur, mother of 7, who, with her 12-year old son Ephraim, was killed -- in the presence of her small daughters -- by Palestinian terrorists.

One of the young homeowners slated for eviction is Yedidya (Didi) Dikstein, who was 16 when both his parents and his 9-year old brother were killed by terrorists.

More to follow as this story unfolds.

Government's Fate Rests on Samaria Town

The government will stand or fall depending on what it does in Beit El, ministers tell Netanyahu. Less than two weeks to go.

Ulpana Neighborhood, Beit El
Ulpana Neighborhood, Beit El
Flash 90

The government will stand or fall in the next two weeks depending on what happens in the Israeli community of Beit El, north of Jerusalem. Ministers have informed Netanyahu that if the Ulpana neighborhood of Beit El is destroyed, his coalition will follow.

The warning came during a cabinet meeting in which the timetable for Judea and Samaria demolitions was revealed. Ulpana is scheduled to be demolished on May 1, the Givat Assaf community several weeks later, and Migron on August 1.

Ministers told Netanyahu that the timetable is irrelevant, because if the May 1 destruction of Ulpana were to go through, the government will not be around for the other two.

Pictures of the destruction will remind the public of the destruction of Gush Katif, they warned. The demolition of Jewish communities in Gaza has been generally recognized as a bad idea, particularly as thousands of residents of the towns have not yet been resettled nearly seven years later and the terrorist ocket barrages from the destroyed communities have been unrelenting.

Several ministers from Netanyahu's own Likud party have warned that they will not wait for May 1, but rather, will force a stop to demolition plans through legislation. A law is in the works that would ensure that homeowners can remain on their property if a claim to the land is made several years after purchase. The law would provide claimants with monetary compensation in place of the original property, as is the practice in other countries.

It would affect thousands of Jewish families in Judea and Samaria who bought homes many years ago on abandoned land with government help, far from any Arab community, who are now facing sudden lawsuits by Palestinian Authority residents, claiming the land on which these homes are built. Some of the land was purchased and either the owner was afraid for his life and therefore did not go through legal channels or the owner was fraudulent, taking advantage of the similarity of Arab names and language barriers.

The Supreme Court has tended to side with PA plaintiffs in such cases even without proof of ownership.

MK Ya'akov "Ketzaleh" Katz praised the bill. "The government should immediately legislate laws to solve large-scale communal problems," he said. "The courts are not above the people, and cannot cancel just laws that aim to save the nation from absurd decrees."

On Sunday, members of the Likud Central Committee, along with MKs and ministers from the party, will hold an emergency meeting in the Ulpena neighborhood to discuss the issue and declare their strategy for the days ahead.

Dear Lovers of Am Yisroel, Eretz Yisroel and the Torah, amv"sh

Please forward and publicize what is happening in Ulpana and in Migron and write to the Chavrei Knesset to give them encouragement to stand firm and not cave into Netanyahus and Barak's decrees even at the risk of their jobs.  Please sign Petition below and do what you can to help fellow Jews keep their homes in Eretz Yisroel and not get expelled like what happened in Gush Katif!  Otherwise we will have to ask ourselves did we not prevent their pain having full knowledge of what was about to happen to them??????

Yasher Koach to all those who are helping.  Please read the following from David HaIvri of the Shomron Liason Office:

Dear all you great people,

A really lovely group of Jews in Australia has put a lot of effort into working out ways to help us in Migron.  Our situation is much to complicated at the moment to type out on an erev Shabbat.  However, suffice it to say that as far as we're concerned here, there is no agreement with the government and we will not willfully go along with the destruction Jewish homes in the Land of Israel.  That's the short version.

The following is a list of links to a petition that this group has put together.  MK Eldad has agreed to present the outcome of the petition to Bibi, personally.  As of Erev Shvií Shel Pesach, it had exactly 613 signatures.  I don't know how many it has at the moment.  Please pass this on:

But at the end of the day, one thing should be patently clear: when we come under attack, Jews – like anyone else – have the right and the duty to fight back. And that is what we shall do.

Very Worried about America and Israel - tensions between Israel and America. Key to the Solution - Israel has yet to assert Sovereignty and Authority over our Land.

bs"d

Dear Rabbanim, Media and Activist List, amv"sh

Yom Hashoa:12 Nissan 5762 April 19, 12 day in the Omer

Very major crisis' in the making.

  • Israel under Netanyahu is unwilling to proclaim Sovereign, Indigenous, Biblical, Historical, and Legal rights to the Land of Israel.
It is my opinion that this is the root of global international unrest and global threat of nuclear war.  Blame the world's problems on the Jews?  Isn't that antisemitic?

Are Jews responsible for stopping evil in this world.  That is a very heavy burden. Yet I believe that there is truth in what I am saying and that Jews can prevent another Holocaust when we do what is right as Jews. What is right is to proudly claim our Birthright and our Inheritance and try our hardest to keep the Torah on the Land. Emunah Peshuta.  Simple uncompromising faith in G-d and the Torah.

One should not delude themselves into thinking that world events are unconnected with the way Jews treat Judea and Samaria.  When Israel stands strong on its Sovereignty and rights, the entire world takes her example and does likewise.  When Israel caves into lies and terror the world becomes a much more unsafe place.

What can be done to change this scenario?  Alot!  The Palestinians have stolen our identity and now unashamedly, proudly lying through their teeth,  claim Sovereign, Indigenous, Religious, Historical and Legal rights for the Jewish Holy Sites. Accordingly, Har HaBayit-Temple Mount, Kever  Yosef - Josephs Tomb, Tomb of the Patriarchs and Rachels Tomb and by extension the rest of the Land of Israel are all "occupied territories".  They claim that all of "Palestine" is occupied unlawfully by Israel and therefore they have the moral and religious justification for an armed struggle (terror) against Israel and target its civilians.

We dare not remain passive as did the world prior to the Holocaust! Jewish individuals, leadership and organizations in Israel, and throughout the world must challenge these lies using their positions, their contacts and influence in whatever form that is effective be it  the old fashioned telephone,snail mail letters,  pulpits or via  traditional media and the Internet!

In Israel, the gov't is sabotaging the good guys!  Attempts to assert our true authority and sovereignty  are denied even to officers of the IDF, thereby demoralizing the entire IDF  into wondering what's the point of being an IDF Soldier?

Does Netanyahu really believe that shameful condemnation of  a heroic IDF officer doing his job. is supposed to prevent rioting and unrest from Palestinians?

So what can be done?

Again, Each one of us, individuals and leaders in the Jewish community, organizations in Israel, in America and worldwide must protest and if there is no other option,seek and demand from ourselves an alternative to the present Likud government dictated by Netanyahu and Barak!  A leader like Netanyahu, that is against settling Hebron and gives away Hebron, sends a message of weakness as per our sovereignty and authority over the entire Land of Israel. While Netanyhahu's messages to Obama regarding Iran is strong and powerful, they are weakened as a result of his stance re: Judea and Samaria.

The UN and the International community have accepted the Palestinian lies as truth.

The question is why is Netanyahu's administration adapting these lies as their own?

It is illegal for Jews to actually buy property from an Arab. Arabs that sell their property to Jews risk their lives because such a transaction carries the death sentence.  Therefore Jews can never acquire property legally and all such transactions are therefore "illegal".   One such unfortunate Arab is being tortured in jail and pending execution for selling the Machpela House to Jews. Barak under the Netanyahu administration have evicted the Jews from the House after this legal purchase.

When we are unsure as per our moral and religious claim to the the Land, how can he expect America to be strong in defending Israel's physical right to exist? Our strong talk about Iran must be backed up with strong convictions of our claim to all of  Eretz Yisroel including Judea and Samaria.

  • Tension between America and Israel
Israel is accusing Obama's Administration of allowing the Iranians to enrich their uranium supplies multiple times over while we continuing to negotiate. Please watch this Fox News video whereby Israel's spokesman brings a powerful statement against Obama's position re: Iran http://video.foxnews.com/v/1571518357001/israel-raises-concerns-about-nuclear-talks-with-iran/

Are we experiencing the beginnings of America's downfall? History has shown that every powerful Nation in the world has had it's rise and fall.

Please read these very sad, worrisome and disturbing articles which are warning Americans that the Democracy and Constitution they love so dearly is at risk.   It is my belief that when Israel acts strongly to assert her Sovereignty and Authority over the entire Land of Israel as a Jewish Nation under G-d, so America too will find the courage to strongly reassert her Identity as a free Republic, One Nation, under G-d, with Liberty and Justice for all as envisioned by the Founding Fathers. May G-d Bless Israel and may G-d Bless America.  May we be worthy of G-d's blessings!

Shredding the Constitution

by Janet Levy

The U.S. Constitution, which has guided American society for over two centuries, inspiring nations worldwide and serving as a model for governance, is under serious threat today. Ironically, that threat comes from the very individuals charged with protecting the Constitution -- federal, state, and local government officials.

According to a recent CQ (Congressional Quarterly) article (see below, highlights added), FBI leadership is moving forward with a plan that could purge from its counterterrorism training materials "references to Muslims…that it deemed offensive." As we all know, groups like CAIR want EVERY reference to radical Islam removed because they deem ANY terrorism reference to Islam "offensive."

We have learned that this potential capitulation by the FBI leadership to politically-correct special interest pressure has some Members of Congress concerned—and they should be.
