I want to concentrate today on the UN, and the up-coming Durban III.  What's encouraging here is the enormous response against Durban III that is being mounted.  While there is much ugliness in the world, there seems to be far less passivity with regard to it. This is a hopeful sign

The date for Durban III at the UN is September 22.  At the same time, there will be a counter-conference sponsored by The Hudson Institute -- with which Bayefsky is associated -- and Touro College Institute on Human Rights and the Holocaust at the Millennium UN Plaza Hotel.

 

What a line-up of speakers they will have, including: John Bolton, Mike Hukabee, Dore Gold, Ruth Wisse, Wafa Sultan, Khaled Abu Toameh, and Simon Deng.

 

There will be a live conference webcast and at the durbanwatch site above you can secure information for logging into that.

Perhaps even more important is "We Have a Dream: Global Summit Against Discrimination and Persecution.," sponsored by an international coalition of NGOs.  This will be "a parallel summit to place urgent situations of discrimination and persecution on the international agenda, promote human rights and democracy, and give a voice to the voiceless."

 

The goal, quite simply, is to focus public attention on the genuine human rights atrocities taking place in the world, as counterpoint to the obscene and libelous UN charge that Israel is the greatest violator of human rights.  At one and the same time it will put the lie to the Durban III charges and, as its PR indicates, "give a voice to the voiceless."  It will call attention to genuine human suffering that is too often ignored. 

 

The Summit will take place on September 21 and 22 on the UN Plaza across the street from the UN.  And it will feature people such as a survivor of Tiananmen Square and president of Initiatives for China; one of the "lost boys of Sudan," as well as people connected to and fighting against human rights abuses in places such as Vietnam, Cuba, Burma, Rwanda, Sudan and Iran.  There will be, for example, a spokesperson for the Uyghur people, a Chinese ethnic people that endures suffering at the hands of the Chinese government.  

 

There will be a webcast of these proceedings as well, which you should be able to access at: NGOsummit.org.

Lastly, and very significantly, there is this:

 

Chair of the House Foreign Relations Committee Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) -- who is a wise and forthright woman, and a great friend of Israel -- on August 30 introduced House Resolution 2829, which is now in committee. It is intended to promote transparency, accountability, and reform within the United Nations system, and would have an effect on how US donations to the UN are directed and when they may be withheld.  Under this bill, the US -- instead of giving across the board funding -- would decide which programs to support. Funds to the ant-Israel Human Rights Council, for example, would stop immediately.

 

Significantly, the bill proposes immediately cutting America's financial contribution to any program or agency of the UN that supports Palestinian bid for recognition and membership.

The bill currently has 57 co-sponsors.  I ask you most urgently to write to your Congresspersons and encourage them to sign on as co-sponsors, if they have not already done so.  

 

The US currently provides 22% of the UN's budget ($7.7 billion in 2010!!).  Much of what is funded with this US donation works against US values and goals and is a waste of US tax dollars.  It is on this basis that your Congresspersons should be urged to support House Resolution 2829.  The US can ill-afford to waste money in this fashion.

 

Other arguments (with a nod to UCI):

 

- UN agencies are filled with representatives of the most tyrannical nations in the world, some of the worst abusers of human rights.  Yet these nations continue to pass multiple resolutions condemning Israel while ignoring their own inhumanity.

- Financial corruption is rampant and investigation has documented billions of dollars funneled into private accounts of U.N. officials.

- Hamas is not listed as a terrorist entity by the UN. Via a process involving UNRWA, Hamas ends up as a beneficiary of UN largesse.

- The Palestinian refugees have been maintained by UNRWA for more than 60 years.  They languish in deplorable conditions in "refugee camps" where they are indoctrinated in terrorism and hatred of Israel.

FYI The Alliance for International Justice in Jerusalem is sponsoring a conference in Switzerland on the Recognition of International Legal Rights of the Jewish People to Jerusalem in a few day Aug. 29,30 and 31  2011 This is the 214th anniversary of the First Zionist World Congress that took place in Switzerland in Aug. 29, 1897, where Theodor Herzl is quoted as saying "We are here today to lay the foundation of the stone of the house which will shelter the Jewish nationl".  

At this very conference in 2011, 5771 according to the Jewish Calendar, let us strengthen our ties with Jerusalem and Zion and with G-d, the Rock of our Salvation with  a proclamation that Temple Mount,  rightfully belongs under Jewish Sovereignty and not under the WAQF.  The very word Zion, literally a marker,  marks the place of the Rock, on Temple Mount the location of the Holy of Holies.  Anti Zionists are enemies of Israel and the Jewish people and aim to erase any trace of Jewish connection to the site of the Holy Temples that were situated on Israel's most Holy Site. 

 May the Holy Temple once again be built on this Holy Site in Jerusalem and may we be worthy to welcome the Moshiach and an era of peace and prosperity to mankind.

A plan of action for the Temple Mount.

Dear Rabbanim,

 

I posted a new petition aimed at the Israeli Minister of Internal Security Yitzchak Aharonovitch who is in charge of the anti-Jewish policies on Har HaBayit. It seems that we now have an address to turn to, which means that we must put tremendous pressure on him.

   

 

The idea is to collect 100,000 (hopefully more) signatures on this petition and we will release it to the media the week before Abbas address the UN. The address is scheduled to take place on September 22nd or 23rd. We will release the petition along with statements from Rabbanim and local Jewish leaders and hopefully create a fire storm ahead of the Pali speech and vote. 

 

If both the The American Board Of Rabbis/Vaad HaRabbonim Of America, The Rabbinical Alliance of America / Igud Horabbonim and the World Committee for the Land of Israel could promote the petition and urge the Jewish community to take other actions as well. I think it would make a big impact.

 

I have a suggestion:

 

Organize a joint press conference with the Igud, Vad and Committee and any Jewish organization that is willing to participate. I should mention there is a major Har HaBayit/ Mikdash dinner conference here in Israel on the 18^th of September – 19^th of Elul and I am including the flyer as an attachment. Perhaps we could organize a live hookup with the conference in Israel and  Press conference in the US.

 

 

The press conference would declare and make the following demands:

 

• ·         The unity between Har HaBayit and Am Yisrael
• ·          The Israeli Government namely Minister of Internal Security Yitzchak Aharonovitch immediately allow for both Jewish Prayer on the Mount
• ·         The Israeli Government must allow for the reinstitution of the Korban Pesach, starting this year       

 

If the Israeli Government refuses these demands, the following repercussions:

 

• ·         Israeli Consulates the Embassy in the US will face ongoing protests
• ·         Israeli Diplomats will be boycotted and protested at every public and private event
• ·         The Jewish community will begin sending financial and other aid to Har Habayit activists on the ground in Israel  

 

There is a Halachcic debates as if it is permitted to ascend Har HaBayit in our times, there are major poskim on both sides. What is clear however it is not the place of a secular almost anti-Jewish government to be persecuting Jews who ascend Har Habayit according to Halacha.  It is the obligation of every Jew who cares about the honor of Hashem and the Torah to raise his voice and not be still.

 

I want to end with a story:

When Ehud Barak went to Camp David, Arafat turned to him and asked why Israel needed sovereignty over the Temple Mount, when there is not a single Jewish structure or activity there. Ehud Barak did not give an immediate response and called the head of the Secret Service who was Avi Dichter to see if he had any case. Avi Dichter told him that there is one Rabbi who takes his students up to the Temple Mount once a week. With that information Barak went back into the negotiating room and stated that Israel could not hand over the Temple Mount because indeed Jews make pilgrimage every week to the site. That was the last straw, which broke down the negotiations and thus saved Israel from itself. This story was told to me by HaRav Yosef Elbaum , head of HaTenua Lekinun HaMikdash (Organization for Temple Renewal), Dichter had called him and revealed this to him.

 

The lesson is clear, the Temple Mount is the key issue, it makes no sense to throw away the gift (Temple Mount) and demand to keep the wrapper (Jerusalem). It is a package and everyone knows it. As you know there has been a very clear Israeli policy, which damages not only Jewish personal rights, but our national right to Jerusalem on the whole.  

 

 

 

This is more or less the situation on the Mount today:

 

·         Only Jews have restricted visitation times on the mount 4 hours a day, Monday -Thursday. The mount is closed to Jews on Friday, Saturday all Muslim holidays and even Jewish holidays that coincide with Muslim holidays.

·         Only Jews are forced to wait an extended period of time before being allowed through security. Only Jews are forced to present their ID's to the police.

·         Only Jews are followed and harassed by Israeli police and Muslim Wakf guards throughout the entire visit on the Mount.

·         Only Jews are arrested for crimes such as prayer, closing eyes, bowing down or singing.

·         The Prime Minister of Israel has failed to include the Temple Mount in his own "Heritage Plan," among those sites of historical, cultural and religious significance to the Jewish people, to receive enhanced government budgeting for the improvement of access, upkeep, and beautification of the sites.

 

The Mount has completely been abandoned to the Muslim Authorities and is used by Muslims for the following dangerous, destructive and disrespectful activities:

·   Illegal digs causing unparalleled destruction of Temple antiquities and the historical Jewish presence on the Mount.

·  The turing of the Temple Mount into a recreation center; Muslim soccer games and picnics are frequent on the Mount

·   Endless incitement against the Jewish State and Nation from within the Mosques.

·   Physical attacks against Jews on the Mount and down below at the Western Wall

 

The future of the Mount is in our hands!

Jewish Rights on the Temple Mount:

The Temple Mount is the holiest place in the world to the Jewish people; yet Jews are denied the right to pray in groups, and even as individuals; this refusal is accompanied by their constant degradation, and they are granted no opportunity for any religious expression whatsoever on the Temple Mount. 

It is our position that if the stature of the Jews on the Temple Mount were to change positively, in a manner that would reflect their status as law-abiding citizens, sons of the nation that is sovereign on the Mountain and as people who have basic human rights in the Jewish state, then the standing of the State of Israel would immediately improve. This would effect a positive change for the benefit and security of all its citizens. 

We demand that the Government of Israel grant the Jewish people freedom of religious expression on the Temple Mount. Additionally, the government must establish special fixed days for Jewish communal prayer in fixed locations on the Temple Mount. This move will serve as evidence of Jewish sovereignty on the Mount and the protection of freedom of religion for all.

*The Three Pilgrimage Festivals of Israel which are Sukkot, Pesach and Shavuot. 

* The 14th of Nisan, the eve of Passover, is the day on which our holy Torah obligates each Jew to bring the Passover offering (it should be noted that this right has already been recognized by Israel's High Court of Justice, #2955/07 ). 

* Rosh HaShana and Yom Kippur 

* The eight days of Chanukah 

* The Three Fast Days of the 10th of Tevet, the 17th of Tammuz and the 9th of Av 

* Israel Independence Day and Jerusalem Day 

* The Hakhel Ceremony at the conclusion of the Sabbatical Year 

This will serve as a preliminary step in confirming the Jewish people's inexorable connection with the Temple Mount, location of the Holy Temple, under the sovereignty of the people of Israel. However, let it be known that the Jewish people will never accept the total refusal of Jewish communal prayer on the Mountain.

The three holiest Jewish sites, Makom Hamikdash Har Habayit (Temple Mount), Kever Yosef(Josephs Tomb in Shechem) and Hebron (Tomb of the Patriarchs) are precisely the hot spots that the Arabs have pinpointed to spread their poison of lies!  The Arabs are keen on stealing our identity built on distortions of all Biblical, historical and archaeological evidence using Islam, a mockery of religion.  They have proven their willingness to sacrifice their children to a  perversion of a God they call Allah. We are eye witness that worship of such sort brings evil destruction and harm to humanity. 

This abomination can only be refuted with Truth, our Holy and precious Torah by our spiritual leaders ! Each generation has the task to undo the Chait HaMiraglim, the sin of the Spies.  Rather than discourage the people to ascend to the Land of Israel, our spiritual leaders will Beezrat Hashem encourage  the conquest of our Land, Eretz Yisroel, for the purpose of observing the Torah and the Mitzvoth and thereby actualize the fulfillment of our precious Torah to its fullest.

This is more than just a petition.  It is a campaign to unite Rabbanic Torah Leaders with the support of the entire Nation of Israel, and righteous Noahides around the world to speak forcefully and proudly of Jewish Heritage and honorable and rightful Jewish claim to Temple Mount.  Our goal is to prevent an earthquake and subsequent tsunami of evil  threatening to shake the very essence and foundations of this planet found in that very Holy Place known as Har HaBayit.  Anavim, Anavim, G-d's humble people, the time has come to proclaim the Torah and Divine Will to the entire world.  Haazinu Hashamayim VeHaaretz.... The Heavens and Earth are G-d's witness to G-ds Covenant with the Jewish people. These witnesses, the Heavens and the Earth,  who are long lasting are starting to testify.  Will they testify that Am Yisroel revered their Covenant with the Creator of the world,  and treasured the Land of Israel and toiled to keep all the commandments like Shemittah in the spirit of Shabbat in the Land of Israel or did Am Yisroel find loopholes and say it is not relevant for our generation?  Uh oh...  I hear you tell me we don't want to act because we are waiting for the Moshiach?  

Surely we have been taught and we know that Moshiach is here on this planet as he is in every generation waiting for his people to do Teshuva, repentance.  Perhaps he is knocking on our door...

Moshiach has been waiting patiently for us to open up the door just a crack so that he can come in. 

Joining together, collecting hundreds of thousands of signatures for this petition is one relatively simple step in allowing Moshiach to get a foothold in.  After all how can we even think of bringing sacrifices logistically  on Har Habayit when the Muslims have control of Temple Mount?  Are our prayers lip service or are they for real?  Such steps such as this petition need to gain momentum.   Step by step, let us collectively work together to help open up the door for Moshiach. 

Surely Islam and its call for the destruction of Israel has no legitimate claim for the Holy Mount.  Will we allow the UN get away with a bunch of untruths and deception that will serve  to be the vehicle of its own self destruction and the destruction of humanity?

By shouting from the rooftop on Temple Mount, and it is our intention and hope that  this petition be a worthy medium emanating from that virtual cloud hovering cyperspace over Temple Mount, we actively demonstrate that we trust in G-d and G-d alone and believe with our heart and soul that He is true to His Word.  We pray that the Holy One Blessed be He will in turn protect us from all harm as He has promised in His Holy Torah! 

Rather than seeing war and destruction, Israel with its believing supporters of the Nations of the World, Noahides, will be found deserving and in this way be blessed with peace, security and prosperity.

 May all the evil decrees disintegrate like the dust in the wind and may the knowledge of G-d, the One and Only G-d, the G-d of Israel wash over the land like a Tsunami  cleansing the world with purity hope and goodness.

A beautiful group went with Nefesh B'Nefesh this morning from JFK among them were a large group of Chayalim at least one Sheirut Leumi girl (my daughter) and many singles  and families (including  pets). May Hashem guard and protect them and may they be zocheh to go from Chayil to Chayil ken Yehi Ratzon and be Matzliach... And may we all be zocheh too to dwell in the KIngs Palace...
