The United Nations has earmarked some $1.3 billion to fund Palestinian legal campaigns against Israel and to support the creation of an independent Palestinian state, in what experts are calling an unprecedented act singling out the Jewish state at the world body. A document that was recently signed between the U.N. and the Palestinians outlines a "strategic programming framework" in the disputed territories from 2018-2022, and states that the U.N. will work to advise the Palestinian Authority on how to exploit "international accountability mechanisms" in order to hold Israel accountable for alleged violations of international law. The document is set to come into effect Jan. 1, 2018. The document makes no references to Palestinian violations of international law and human rights, nor does it specify that the $1.3 billion in funding should be applied to humanitarian assistance. Rather, the U.N. document states that the money should be used for developing programs that support "Palestine's path to independence." "The funding of this unprecedented and prejudicial aggression against a member state by the U.N. is clear evidence that the international body's goal and solution is for a single Palestinian state to replace Israel," Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, president of the Tel Aviv-based civil rights organization Shurat HaDin - Israel Law Center, told JNS.org.  "It's a new form of anti-Semitic aggression and terror by other means, and it plainly violates the U.N.'s own charter," she said. Sixteen U.N. agencies appear as signatories in the document, including the OHCHR human rights office, the UNESCO cultural body and the UNRWA refugee agency. In signing the document, the agencies pledged to hold Israel accountable for its alleged violations and to document the purported abuses while simultaneously strengthening Palestinian groups' "ability to advocate effectively for rights to be respected." In the document, the U.N. also pledged to monitor "the impact of Israeli violations" as well as how purported Israeli "breaches of international law" hinder the development of "Palestine."  "There is no other example or precedent of the U.N. funding, training and advising one side of a conflict to pursue legal advocacy against another side," said Hillel Neuer, executive director of Geneva-based UN Watch, a group whose stated mission is to "monitor the performance of the United Nations by the yardstick of its own charter." "For some reason, however, when it comes to Israel, the U.N. development agencies cross the bright red line from humanitarian assistance to political advocacy," he said. Although the amount of funding allocated by the U.N. towards overtly anti-Israel initiatives is unprecedented, Shurat Hadin's Darshan-Leitner said the world body's singling out of Israel and misuse of funds were "no big surprise." "The U.N. is misappropriating, once again, its donors' funds and directing them into projects that help the PLO target and attack the Jewish state, instead of for humanitarian causes," said Darshan-Leitner. "After all, it's the U.N.'s raison d'etre at this point," she added. "We have seen a massive increase in these baseless lawfare suits being filed without any merit in the American federal courts in the past few years. The unilateral encouragement of these frivolous harassment suits against Israelis and Jewish individuals, which are obviously being funded and fanned on by foreign bodies, is a new Palestinian strategy to try to bedevil and deter support for Israel." Darshan-Leitner underscored that the U.N. "does not care one iota about justice for the so-called 'victims' it's pretending to assist," and that it uses Palestinian initiatives as a vehicle for turning Israel into an international pariah.  "It's policies like this that display so clearly why the United States was moved to quit UNESCO, and is considering resigning [from] and defunding other U.N. agencies," she said. Prof. Avi Bell, a member of the faculty of law at Israel's Bar-Ilan University and a senior fellow at the Kohelet Policy Forum think tank, voiced similar sentiments, telling JNS.org that the U.N.'s newly revealed strategic document "highlights the degree to which many organs of the United Nations are actively involved in diplomatic, legal and financial warfare against the state of Israel."  "We often fail to appreciate the degree to which the U.N, supports, or even directs, anti-Israel propaganda and political activity," said Bell. "This kind of activity obviously violates the U.N. Charter by infringing upon Israeli sovereignty and denying Israel the right of sovereign equality."  Bell added that these actions "undermine international institutions by subordinating their legal roles to a political agenda [and] corrupting them in the name of anti-Zionist ideology….Unfortunately, the U.N.'s decades-long war on Israel is nowhere near ending." MK Omer Bar-Lev (Zionist Union - Labor) said at a demonstration in Ramat Hasharon in central Israel on Saturday that "religionization," in his view, includes soldiers praying at the Western Wall. "It became known to me that, after Operation Protective Edge, one of the battalions of the Golani Brigade heading towards the south took a slight detour on the way and jumped to the Western Wall, and the whole battalion made [the blessing thanking God for being saved from a dangerous situation]. This is religionization at our expense," he tweeted on the Walla news site. Bar-Lev asserted that the battalion had traveled to the Western Wall "at the expense of the taxes we pay." (Bar Lev's famous father, General Chaim Bar-Lev was a minister in the Labor government when in 1980, six Jews were gunned down by Arab terrorists in an ambush while attending Friday night Shabbat services in Hevron.  His reaction:  What were they doing there"?  Bar-Lev, senior was also the creator of the impenetrable  "Bar-Lev line' of defense along the Suez Canal that crumbled in four hours on Yom Kippur, October 6, 1973.) A few weeks ago, another Labor blue blood gave voice to her Zionism. Merav Michaeli told an Australian panel,"The core family as we know it, unfortunately, is the least safe place for children." This week a group of labor leaders including former Labor head (General) Amram Mitzne made the requisite pilgrimage to Ramallah. There they met with PA head Abu Mazen("there was no holocaust"). He returned with good news:"We have a peace partner"! When asked by a journalist. "What kind of partner pays terrorists for killing Jews and names streets after them, he said something like, our side is not free of guilt either.." Considering the above very recent items, no wonder that the new Labor leader, Avi Gabai has begun to steer his ship suddenly sharply to the right.  He knows that his sinking ship cannot continue alienating a growing majority of Israelis. In surprising statements one after the other he has begun a campaign of trying to bring the Labor party back into, or nearing, the Israeli mainstream.   He declared that Jewish "settlements " need not necessarily be evacuated in a peace deal. He said that his party will never sit in a coalition with the anti-Zionist  Arab party. He denounced one of his MKs, Mr. Bahlul, an Arab for refusing to attend the one hundred year anniversary of the "Balfour declaration" claiming that as an Arab, he is" not a free person in Israel". I am not sure what Mr. Gabai really believes but it seems that he realizes that the noisy "echo chamber" of the secular elites that have always run Labor is increasingly way out of touch with "Joe Israeli".  And he is absolutely right. Is it too late for Labor to return to the hearts of the majority of Jews in Israel? I would say yes. Some of the Labor "blue bloods" will not change their tune or agree to be silenced by an upstart populist chairman. They may find themselves joining "Meretz" which is officially abandoning all Jewish roots of Zionism in favor of a "state of all its citizens", They try to attract Arabs and pro Arab Jews. Others will follow their opportunistic senses and tow the line, much like the "no ideology" gang of the short-lived  "Kadima" party. Israelis are not stupid and even stupid people learn something from experience. I believe that the Left, in any disguise it chooses, will never govern in this land again. The question is will the "Right" govern as the "Right" is expected to by its voters? Netanyahu has been a great disappointment to many of his constituency time and again. As more  Israelis wake up from the Oslo stupor and understand how removed their Jewish souls actually are from continued double talk and those who brought us the gift of Yasser Arafat and a "New Middle East" they will demand better than they have been served until today. There are large cracks visible in the institutions that have kept the blinders on the people. The courts, media, academia, politicians...are not the demigods they used to be. Social media has been one of the elements of erosion that has led to the cracks, but rivers of Jewish blood have been the painful and frustrating conduit that, unfortunately, continually deepen them. So, today, the Left must hide, put on a mask, or openly join the enemy. Their days of the high handed rule are gone. The Netanyahu years were a  painful waste of lost opportunities and political survival games. Lots of great speeches (including the not great speech of his recognizing an Arab state in our land), releasing thousands of terrorists and building freezes in the liberated lands. This week marks the anniversary of the deaths of two famous Jewish leaders. Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin, who gave the order to sink the  Irgun ship Altilena (with Menachem Begin on it)  in 1948 and then later brought us Arafat and company in 1993; The other Jewish leader, a Torah scholar and lover of all Jews was also killed -  not because he was giving away our land to the enemy but because he fought to retain it and expel those who would take it and our very lives from us. One was deemed a martyr - a demigod by the establishment, and the other a madman. The Jews of Israel increasingly know who was mad and who was right. There is a future God willing. This may be a reference that young people won't get, but federal judges are starting to sound like a broken record. Liberals who can't impose their agenda though the ballot box have taken to trying to block President Trump by filing lawsuits in states with friendly, activist liberal judges. First, it was to block his temporary ban on foreigners from six nations with serious terrorism activities and no reliable vetting. Now, they've found a judge in Washington, DC, who's blocked Trump's order overturning Obama's order to allow openly transgender people in the US military.
She did uphold Trump's ban on letting such recruits have gender reassignment surgery at taxpayer expense, but she blocked the rest, ruling that the transgender plaintiffs would be likely to win their lawsuit by proving that they would be injured by Trump's directive.
As with the travel ban lawsuits, this will likely end up in the Supreme Court, where plaintiffs will have to explain why it was constitutional for Obama to change the longtime policy but not for Trump to change it right back. They might also be grilled on why the military is allowed to disallow recruits for any number of mental or physical reasons, but not this one, even though it had been longstanding policy up until Obama unilaterally decided to change it. Apparently, Constitutional executive powers are granted only to Presidents liberal judges personally voted for.
I have to hope that once all these cases land in the SCOTUS' lap, they will issue clear, forceful rulings with no room for interpretation by lower court judges, who seem to believe their gavels are magic wands that give them extra-Constitutional powers over areas such as national security that are specifically reserved to the President. At the rate we're going, if North Korea ever does fire a missile at us, I expect some federal judge to issue a restraining order against Trump shooting it down until they decide whether he's allowed to keep it from entering the country.

Repulsive ads in Virginia

A PAC called Latino Victory Fund that's supporting Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam for Virginia Governor released an ad against Republican candidate Ed Gillespie that just might be the lowest, most repulsive, most unconscionable political ad run since the days when Andrew Jackson was accused of cannibalism. It's meant to depict Gillespie, Donald Trump and their supporters as evil, racist, white supremacists who drive pickups with Confederate flags and use them to chase down terrified minority children, and, I'm just guessing here from the context, filet and eat them. It's absolutely disgusting, especially in light of the recent tragedy in Charlotte where an alleged white supremacist ran down a protester with a car. You can see it at the link, but I warn you: you'll feel as if you need a shower afterwards.
It's common for candidates to say they have no control over despicable ads run by PACs on their behalf, and that may be legitimate. But they usually have the decency to distance themselves from the ads and demand they be pulled. In this case, the Northam campaign responded to public outrage over the vile race-baiting ad by trying to rationalize and justify it instead of condemning it. Let's hope the voters of Virginia see the kind of character that reflects and rebuke it at the polls. And if this is any indication of the kind of campaigns Democrats are planning against Republicans in 2018, let's hope Virginians send a message that slander and ginning up fear and racial divisions are not winning strategies.

The third indictment

A third indictment in the Robert Mueller probe nearly got overlooked in all the hubbub over Paul Manafort. It was a guilty plea to one count, made on October 5 and just unsealed, by a former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser, George Papadopoulos. He pleaded guilty to making false statements to investigators about his relationship with foreign nationals he thought to have close relationships with Russian officials. He reportedly emailed seven members of the Trump campaign about setting up an off-the-record meeting with Russian officials, possibly including Vladimir Putin, to discuss US-Russia ties, and also relayed that the Russians had "dirt" on Hillary Clinton and thousands of her emails (big surprise.) In a real "Huck's Criminal Mastermind" moment, he allegedly lied to the FBI about the timing of those communications and tried to cover it up by deleting his Facebook posts.
Well, at least this actually happened within the previous two years and did involve Russia and the campaign. But the meetings he tried to set up apparently never happened, with several Trump campaign advisers warning it might violate the Logan Act. So unless Russia colluded with Trump to rig the election during a meeting that never took place, this still isn't looking like Watergate on the Volga.

Menendez trial update

Monday, the judge in the bribery trial of Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez of New Jersey denied a defense motion to declare a mistrial. Prosecutors have accused Menendez of selling influence to a wealthy eye doctor who defrauded Medicare of millions, in exchange for a lifestyle out of a travel brochure for the rich and famous. If you read the judge's comments at the link, which is worth it, he not only denied their mistrial motion, he ridiculed the very idea that he would agree to that, and blasted Menendez's attorneys for thinking the rules of evidence don't apply to them.
Gee, I wonder where they would get the idea that the rules involving selling your position of public trust to enrich yourself don't apply to powerful Democrats in Washington? I also want to point out this story because I think someone needs to. For the past few months, in what seems to me to be blatant bias, the media have been beating the drum 24/7 over unproven allegations against Donald Trump while completely ignoring a trial in which a powerful Democratic Senator is accused of selling his office to the highest bidder. I don't have a big media spotlight, as the major networks do, but at least I can aim my flashlight at it.

The Land of Israel belongs to all of the people of Israel

 "Here the entire Land of Israel was given to the children of Israel in the Brit Bein Habesarim [3]. The Covenant G-d made with  Abraham. - 'An Everlasting Covenant', and was given to the Children of Israel from 'the God of the World' as an 'Eternal Inheritance'. And according to this it is understood that no one can change this matter.  Even if there is someone willing  to give parts of the Land of Israel to non-Jews - of course it is not in his capacity at all, since the Land of Israel belongs to all the Children of Israel for all generations, and therefore he can not act as landlord and return even a small parcel of the Land of Israel to non-Jews, because he does not own it.  And this practice to give away something one does not own, is the opposite of everything that is righteous and just.

 How to settle the Land

"כדי להביא דבר זה ("לזרעך נתתי את הארץ הזאת") לידי גילוי, נדרש שיהיה "קום התהלך בארץ לארכה ולרחבה" - ליישב כל שטחי ארץ ישראל, ובייחוד אותם שטחים שישנם מערערים עליהם. ועל התיישבות זו להיות באותו אופן כמו שהיה אצל אברהם אבינו (שמעשה אבות סימן לבנים), שבבואו ובהתהלכו בארץ ישראל הנה "ויבן שם מזבח לה' וגו'" - דהיינו, להקים בכל אותם המקומות מקום תורה ומקום תפילה, וכן מקווה טהרה... ופשיטא שלא להזמין ח"ו לחץ מצד אומות העולם, על ידי ההנהגה המוזרה של התיישבות בנקודות ספורות מסוימות. על ידי הנהגה כזו מראים שמתחשבים בטענת המערערים, ואין שום סברא בשכל ובמציאות לחלק בין נקודות ספורות אלו לכל השאר - שכן אותו "רגשו גוים" ו"יהגו" (מחאות מאומות העולם) קיים כשמתיישבים בנקודות ספורות או כשמיישבים את כל אורך הגבול וכל השטחים...

 In order to bring this Promise ("I gave this Land to your seed") into actualization, it is necessary to fulfill "Come and walk in the land far and wide" - to settle all the territories of the Land of Israel, and especially those territories that are disputed. And this kind of settling must be the same as Abraham,  our Forefather (whose deeds are a lesson to his children and to their children), who came and walked in the Land of Israel as it says "and he built an altar there to G-d etc" [1] - that is, to establish in all those places a place of Torah and a place of prayer, as well as a Mikva a ritual bath of purity ... , Simply, not to, G-d Forbid, invite pressure from Nations of the World and act as do strange leadership on Settlement matters on certain areas.  By such leadership it is shown that the disputer's claim is taken into consideration, as there is no logical or sane explanation in reality to differentiate between these select areas of settlement with the rest of the Land along its borders and territories since as it says in Tehillim chapter 2

א לָמָּה רָֽגְשׁ֣וּ גוֹיִ֑ם וּ֜לְאֻמִּ֗ים יֶהְגּוּ־רִֽיק: רָֽגְשׁ֣וּ גוֹיִ֑ם,

"Gentile feelings" and  יֶהְגּוּ (protests from the nations of the world) exist whether settling in select areas or when settling anywhere in the Land.

 יש לדעת שעושים זאת בשליחותו ובכוחו  של הקב"ה, שעל ידי כך מתווסף יותר תוקף במעשה ההתיישבות, ולגבי כוחו של הקב"ה אין מקום למניעות כלל ח"ו. בשעה שיילכו בדרך זו, הנה לא רק שסוף סוף הם לא יערערו, אלא אדרבה, זה יביא את "הללו את ה' כל גוים שבחוהו כל האומים, כי גבר עלינו חסדו וגו'".  It should be known that Settling everywhere in the Land is done by the Shlichut, sent on a Mission by G-d and by the power of G-d, which thereby adds more validity to the act of settlement, and as for G-d's power there is no reason to stop from proceeding nor hold back, G-d Forbid. When they go this way, not only will they not be undermined, on the contrary,  It will bring the Nation to sing הללו את ה' כל גוים שבחוהו כל האומים, כי גבר עלינו חסדו וגו'".

No retreat will bring peace

  "Some argue that returning territories to non-Jews will lead to peace - it is not possible that such leadership which is the opposite of the Torah, will cause a good thing, and even more it can be argued,  that this leadership will not bring about "peace", which says "if peace is here everything is here." ואדרבה, כאשר מתנהגים על פי התורה, ומסבירים לכולם (כולל אינם יהודים) - בסבר פנים יפות - שהיות והקב"ה נתן שטחים אלו לבני ישראל במתנה גמורה, אין ביכולת אף אחד לשנות זאת וכו' - זוהי הדרך להשכנת שלום אמיתי!

 On the contrary, when you act according to the Torah, and explain to everyone (including non-Jews) -pleasantly- that since G-d gave these lands to the children of Israel as a gift, in its entirety, with finality, no one can change it, etc. - this is the way to make true peace!

שלמות העם ושלימות הארץ

רצונו האמיתי.

לאחרונה החל היצר הרע להתנגד לכללות העניין ד'שלימות הארץ', "ארץ אשר... עיני ה' אלוקיך בה מרשית שנה ועד אחרית שנה", ששלימותה קשורה עם 'שלימות העם', כדאיתא במדרש רז"ל: "כשברא העולם חילק הארצות וכו', יבואו ישראל שבאו לחלקי וינחלו את הארץ שבאה לחלקי", זאת אומרת, שהקב"ה נתן את כל ארץ ישראל לעם ישראל באופן של "נחלת עולם".
