The message you have just received was delivered by Mike Huckabee and includes a message from Huck PAC, his political action committee.

Robin,

It's morning in America. The sun is shining, the birds are singing. But wait, how is that possible? Donald Trump is President-elect! We were assured that if that happened, the sky would blacken, there would be mass hysteria and the planet would immediately be immolated in a fiery, nuclear ball of death! Or something like that. Maybe I've been reading too much HuffPo.

Instead, the sun somehow seems to be shining more brightly and the birds singing a bit more sweetly. Or perhaps it just seems that way to me.

Just as I have been predicting for months, Donald Trump not only won, he scored a much bigger victory than even most supporters imagined. He gave a remarkably magnanimous and statesmanlike acceptance speech (see it at the link if you weren't up late enough to watch history being made live). He also didn't destroy the GOP down-ticket, as panicky Republicans feared (the only Republicans who got shellacked were turncoats who distanced themselves from Trump). The GOP held on to both the House and Senate, which means Trump should have a much easier time cutting deals for long-blocked, desperately-needed legislation, like repealing and replacing Obamacare. And he can appoint judges who respect the Constitution.

We now have to brace ourselves for the inevitable shirt-rending from the media: "How could America elect Donald Trump?! What does this MEEEEEAN?!"

Well, I'll tell you what it doesn't mean. It doesn't mean that most Americans are racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic deplorables, as Hillary suggested.

What it does mean is that a lot of Americans are fed up with failed Obama policies, both foreign and domestic; with an overreaching federal government trying to run every aspect of their lives; with representatives who seem to represent big money donors and shadowy billionaires like George Soros more than the people who elected them; with wealthy celebrities looking down on them and calling them bigots and haters just for having religious beliefs, morals, patriotism, pride in their traditions and a belief that laws should be respected; and with an unequal system of justice that gives the well-connected a pass for infractions that send regular citizens to prison.

And we're tired of hearing that America is not exceptional, that our laws and culture and Constitution are nothing special, that we're just one more vote at the UN -- when we know that America is the "shining city on the hill" that people from all those other nations and cultures gladly risk their lives to be part of.

Americans tried to tell Washington this in previous elections, with things like the Tea Party movement, only to be insulted, belittled and targeted by the IRS. But you can only sit on a pressure cooker so long before it blows you sky high.

Another bit of meaning you can take from this election: despite all the efforts of politicians, consultants and media elites to separate Americans into little boxes, we refuse to be so easily categorized. Self-proclaimed experts assumed that women would vote for Hillary because she's a woman, or Hispanics would vote against Trump because he wants to secure the border, or blacks would vote for Democrats because…well, because they're black, and they're supposed to! Turns out that women care about a range of issues other than gender identity, the vast majority of Hispanic immigrants believe in obeying the law, and many black voters don't like being taken for granted. Democrats learned to their shock that demographic changes don't mean they can just sit back and enjoy a permanent majority. Maybe the idea that women and non-white voters will automatically pull the "D" lever just because of their sex and race is…gasp…sexist and racist!

Finally, this election proved that what Americans have in common is much greater than our differences. All our differences aside, most of us love and want to preserve the things that made America great: the Constitution, the rule of law, the American Dream that our children will live better lives than we did, equality, fairness, opportunity to succeed for all who are willing to work hard, and a government that serves the people, not the other way around. Tuesday, we rose up as one and said, "We want that America back. Make America great again."

Sincerely,

Mike Huckabee

Media Stunned

By Mike Huckabee

For a lot of Trump supporters, almost as sweet as his victory was the stunned expressions of liberals on TV who couldn't believe that their already-anointed queen Hillary Clinton had just lost the White House to Donald Trump. Having owned the media that turned the news into a Democratic PR machine, they made the mistake of believing their own publicity. Throughout the night, the theme was repeated: "Nobody saw this shocker coming!"

Uh, excuse me! Not to toot my own horn, but I've been predicting a big Trump win for months. Even when his polls were down, I stuck by that. Why? Because unlike all those media, Hollywood and Wall Street savants, I talk to real people. I've been warning the elites of the widening divide between them and the folks in "Flyover Country" for years, that the people who sweat and lift heavy things for a paycheck were getting fed up with being insulted and talked down to by their alleged representatives, and seeing powerful elites get away with things that would land them in jail. I even brought out a book warning about the growing divide between the government and the governed nearly two years ago. It was called "God, Guns, Grits and Gravy" ( see the link to purchase this entertaining, enlightening and downright psychic tome).

Funny that last night, New York Times columnist Paul Krugman, shocked and baffled by Trump's win, wrote, "What we do know is that people like me, and probably like most readers of The New York Times, truly didn't understand the country we live in." No, you truly didn't. It was easier just to sneer and snark, to insult and impugn. You didn't even want to learn why your countrymen were hurting. Now, you have no choice. To catch up in a hurry, I suggest Mr. Krugman and his cohorts in the Times bubble read "God, Guns, Grits and Gravy." And if it makes it any easier, just remind yourselves that it was a New York Times bestseller.

A bedtime story

By Mike Huckabee

While I'm certainly overjoyed at Donald Trump's win and what it means for protecting the Constitution and the rule of law, restoring American leadership and helping our veterans, I have to admit that I feel a bit sorry for some of Hillary Clinton's young supporters. It's hard to see their crushed, tearful faces in the photos at the link and not feel some sympathy for this blow to their misguided youthful idealism. It's always hard to lose an election, especially your first.

And because I feel bad for them, I thought I'd share a bedtime story that might help them forget their grief and fears and rest a little easier:

Once upon a time, there was a Democratic President who was widely regarded as a failure. His economy didn't create jobs, and his weakness in foreign policy had other nations thumbing their noses at America, particularly Iran and Russia. There was no way that the Democrats could hope to hold the White House by running on his record.

Fortunately, they lucked out. Republican voters ignored their appalled patrician leaders and nominated an outsider candidate with no Washington experience. He would be easy to beat: with the help of the liberal media, he was demonized as a dangerous, frightening, wild-eyed, far-right loon who was going to crash the economy, start World War III and nuke the planet. A famous editorial cartoon even depicted Death with this Republican's instantly-recognizable hairstyle on his skull, playing a game of chess with terrified soldiers as game pieces while a mushroom cloud rose behind him. Scariest of all, this dangerous, unqualified, unstable nutjob shocked the elites by actually winning the Presidency!

That Republican was Ronald Reagan. He not only didn't start World War III and fire off nukes, he ended the Cold War and brought down the Soviet Union and the Berlin Wall without firing a shot, greatly reducing the threat of nuclear confrontation. And he didn't crash the economy at all. In fact, he set in motion an economic boom so strong and long-lasting that years after Reagan left office, Bill Clinton was still taking bows for it.

The moral of the story: Don't believe everything you read. And if you read it in places like the Huffington Post, Salon or the New York Times editorial page, don't believe anything you read.

Now, pleasant dreams! And don't worry: the world will still be here when you wake up.

NEW YORK, November 9, 2016

Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) President Morton A. Klein issued the following statement:

The Zionist Organization of America happily congratulates President-Elect Donald J. Trump, Vice President-Elect Mike Pence, their beautiful families, their national advisers, their Israel advisory co-chairs Jason Dov Greenblatt and David Friedman, and the entire Trump/Pence campaign team on their historic victory last night.

ZOA President Klein has known Vice President-Elect Mike Pence since his days in Congress, and has seen first-hand that the Vice President-Elect is a great friend of Israel and America's pro-Israel community. President–elect Trump's platform on Israel is the most pro-Israel platform any American political party has ever put forth.

We look forward to a Trump/Pence administration that will rebuild America, heal America's internal divisions, inspire all Americans and people throughout the world, and be a great friend to the State of Israel.

The recent Joint Statement from Jason Dov Greenblatt and David Friedman, Co-Chairs of the Israel Advisory Committee to Donald J. Trump, spelled out Trump/Pence administration policies that will enhance American-Israeli friendship and the safety and well being of both nations.

This morning, ZOA invited Trump/Pence Israel advisory co-chairs Jason Dov Greenblatt and David Friedman to attend and speak at ZOA's upcoming national gala dinner on Sunday evening November 20, 2016 at the Grand Hyatt in NYC.  ZOA is thrilled that Mr. Friedman has already accepted our invitation!  We hope that you will join us at this exciting event. Honorees include Bernie Marcus, founder of Home Depot, Israel's Amb.to the UN, Danny Danon, Cong. Ed Royce, Chair of House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Alan Dershowitz.

ZOA is extremely pleased that the Trump/Pence administration's policies will include:

  • U.S. recognition that Israel is the state of the Jewish people, who have lived in that land for 3,500 years;

  • U.S. recognition that Israel is a staunch U.S. ally and a key partner in the global war against Islamic jihadism;

  • U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as the eternal and indivisible capital of the Jewish state; the Trump/Pence administration will move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem;

  • continuing growth in U.S.-Israeli military cooperation and coordination, and recognition of the tremendous benefit that this two-way street relationship brings to both nations;

  • ensuring that Israel receives maximum military, strategic and tactical cooperation from the United States; and ensuring that the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will not limit the support that Congress and/or the administration gives to Israel;

  • U.S. vetoes of United Nations resolutions that unfairly single out Israel;

  • U.S. work in international institutions and forums and with the EU, to oppose efforts to delegitimize Israel, impose discriminatory double standards against Israel, or impose special labeling requirements and boycotts on Israeli products;

  • cutting off U.S. funding for the UN Human Rights Council, and recognizing that the UNHRC is dominated by dictatorships devoted to slandering the Jewish State; and recognizing that UNESCO's attempt to disconnect the State of Israel from Jerusalem is a one-sided attempt to ignore Israel's 3,000-year bond to its capital city, and is further evidence of the enormous anti-Israel bias of the United Nations;

  • U.S. adoption of strong diplomatic and legislative measures to thwart the anti-Semitic boycott, divestment and sanctions movement against Israel (BDS); and recognizing that BDS "is just another attempt by the Palestinians to avoid having to commit to a peaceful co-existence with Israel; "

  • rejection of the false notion that Israel is an occupier;

  • Justice Department investigations of the coordinated attempts on college campuses to intimidate students who support Israel;

  • U.S. recognition that Israel's maintenance of defensible borders is necessary to preserve peace and stability; and that "pressure should not be put on Israel to withdraw to borders that make attacks and conflict more likely";

  • U.S. recognition that "a two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians appears impossible as long as the Palestinians are unwilling to renounce violence against Israel or recognize Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state"; and recognizing that "the Palestinian leadership, including the PA, has undermined any chance for peace with Israel by raising generations of Palestinian children on an educational program of hatred of Israel and Jews" and by regularly teaching hatred to the larger Palestinian-Arab society "on Palestinian television, in the Palestinian press, in entertainment media, and in political and religious communications"; and recognizing that "the two major Palestinian political parties – Hamas and Fatah – regularly promote anti-Semitism and jihad";

  • affirming that "the U.S. cannot support the creation of a new [Palestinian-Arab] state where terrorism is financially incentivized, terrorists are celebrated by political parties and government institutions, and the corrupt diversion of foreign aid is rampant" and that "the U.S. should not support the creation of a state that forbids the presence of Christian or Jewish citizens, or that discriminates against people on the basis of religion";

  • recognizing that a comprehensive and lasting peace involves free negotiations between those living in the region;

  • counteracting Iran's ongoing violations of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (the Iran deal) and Iran's noncompliance with past and present sanctions and agreements, by implementing tough, new sanctions when needed to protect the world and Iran's neighbors from Iran's continuing nuclear and non-nuclear threats; and

  • recognizing that "the U.S. State Department recently designated Iran, yet again, as the leading state sponsor of terrorism – putting the Middle East particularly, but the whole world at risk by financing, arming, and training terrorist groups operating around the world including Hamas, Hezbollah, and forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad."

ZOA again congratulates the President-Elect, the Vice President-Elect and everyone involved with their historic victory – a victory that we believe will help heal America and our relationships will Israel and other nations throughout the world.

Which means, "thank Heaven."  I want to share my thoughts briefly on this day after election day.  After this, promise, I will turn to what is happening here in Israel (along, undoubtedly, with further comments on America).

I am thankful on several counts.  First, because I didn't expect this, and it comes as such a marvelous surprise.
Credit: cmrue.files
After the poll predictions, it was a stunning victory. The victory, I note, includes a fully Republican Congress.
~~~~~~~~~~
Then because of what has now been avoided – for America, and for the world (Israel very much included). I had been heartsick about the prospect of a Hillary victory.  Deeply distressed about what she would bring to the White House: her embrace of open borders; her corruption – evidenced by the millions from the Clinton Foundation spent on her daughter's wedding, not to mention "pay and play"; her connection to nations such as Qatar, which supports the Muslim Brotherhood; her endorsement of the racist, far left Black Lives Matter, which damages race relations in the inner city; her readiness to continue Obama's horrendous policy on Iran – in fact, her intention to follow in the path of an arrogant Obama in several respects; and on and on and on.
It's strange, what kept running around in my head, with all the things that might have occupied my thoughts: It had been revealed that all the investigators and lawyers involved in the FBI investigation of her emails thought she should have her security clearance revoked, and then it turned out that she had given classified documents to a maid who didn't have clearance.  How can she be president of the US?  How could the possibility even exist?  Are we about to witness the downfall of America?
~~~~~~~~~~
Now this anguish is after the fact.  Because she is not going to be president.  And, I might mention, Bill is not going to be back in the Oval Office, running things behind the scenes – a prospect that was unbearable for me.
~~~~~~~~~~
But I am not celebrating Trump's victory just because he is not Hillary.  I want very much to make that clear.
I see promise in a Trump presidency, and hope for a much better day for America, and subsequently, the Western world (Israel included).
I believe he has grown considerably in the last two years of campaigning and he is not the same as he was in the beginning.  He has seen America from a different angle – deeply moved by what he has learned, and caring about the common man.  And humbled by those who have supported him.
Today I heard an interview with a Black woman involved in politics who has been a life time Democrat; she voted for Trump.  He shows genuine concern for the inner city, she said, for the Black people and the Hispanics who suffer there.  He will work to make it better. I believe it is true.  Not long ago, I ran something about his plan to revamp inner city education. "The forgotten people will be forgotten no longer," he pledged.
~~~~~~~~~~
I was exceedingly pleased with his acceptance speech, which hit all the right notes.  Commentator Chris Wallace called it "pitch perfect."  There was no bombast in his behavior.  Even the music that played as he walked on to the dais was easy-listening, not the loud stuff we usually hear. His demeanor was soft, projecting a humble, moderate tone.  He didn't say "I" won, he said "we" did.  He took the time to thank those behind the scenes who helped him.  And he reached out to everyone: letting those who didn't support him know that he intends to be their president too, and would like to learn from them.
I particularly liked it that he gave credit to American veterans, who have been treated so badly under Obama.
~~~~~~~~~~
Will we like everything Trump does?  Of course not. Like all of us, he is a flawed human being.  But I believe he is a sincere one who means it when he says he loves America.  He doesn't shy away from patriotism. And it behooves every one of us to give him a chance, and a boost when we can.  He will be inheriting from Obama a country in horrendous shape. He will have his work cut out for him, and then some, as he undoes the Obama legacy.
So let us watch, with gratitude in our hearts for the possibilities, as he works to bring manufacturing that has left America's shores back into the country; and seeks to upgrade infrastructure; and takes stops to help the inner cities.  Let us applaud as he bolsters the military, and guards America's borders, and gets tough with Iran, and declines to push Israel into a "two state solution."  Let us be glad as he names the enemy that Obama has refused to name.
I believe that the Almighty has given America a new chance. And for this we should be thankful.  It was almost too late.
Joseph Campbell's The Hero With a Thousand Faces captures the truly epic core of Trump's transformational campaign.
Joseph Campbell presented a stunning and comprehensive analysis of the archetypical hero that has graced religion, mythology, and the philosophy/psychology through time. In The Hero With A Thousand Faces, Campbell defines the process the hero undergoes to achieve transformational and great accomplishments on behalf of the tribe, group, or country.
According to Campbell, each hero's journey goes through formulaic stages.
Friedman tells how over the last decade he and Trump discussed Israel many times and Trump always admired Israel and supported it.
Obama also cancelled the past practice of allowing Israel to spend 25% of the money in Israel.  Thus this deal reduces America's yearly trade deficit by just over $1 billion. This is inf…
