Fwd: Naomi Ragen U.S. PLANS GIVING BILLIONS TO PALESTINIAN TERRORISTS

bs"d

Please forward this information to our representatives in the Major Jewish Organizations that have offices for Public Affairs that lobby in Washington DC. The OU for instance has not expressed any concern regarding the establishment of a terror state in lieu of the settlements within Judea and Samaria.  Establishing a Palestinian State Chas Veshalom will not only affect the 250,000 residents of Yesha but also of course the entire State of Israel.  Many major population centers will be within rocket range.  Just look at a map. Sederot is a sure example of what a terror state within Judea and Samaria will accomplish. Of course, feel free to lobby yourself as well to the politicians.  Do we really want the IPA to represent us?  Chaim Dovid Zwiebel dzwiebel@agudathisrael.org is the Public Affairs person for Agudath Yisroel.

About the IPA

As the public policy arm of the nation's largest representative Orthodox Jewish organization -- with over 1,000 member synagogues nationwide -- the IPA works to protect Jewish interests and freedoms by providing government officials with informative policy briefings, advocating legislative and regulatory initiatives, and coordinating our constituency's grass-roots political activities.

Importantly, the IPA works to bring the unique perspective of Jewish law and tradition to bear upon the widest range of public policy issues confronting American society at-large, thus seeking to fulfill our mission to work for the betterment of the world -- tikkun olam -- for all of humankind.

Within the Jewish community, the IPA serves as the Orthodox community's link to the Conference of President's of Major American Jewish Organizations, the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, the World Jewish Congress, and other umbrella entities. The IPA also serves as the Orthodox Union's link to the broader international community through its recognized non-governmental organization (NGO) observer status at the United Nations.

In addition to its day-to-day activities, the IPA sponsors an annual National Leadership Mission to Washington, D.C., and the IPA Summer Internship Program -- placing Orthodox Jewish college students in key governmental offices.

The OU's IPA invites you to become an active participant in our programs and to become a partner in working for tikkun olam today. You can contact the Institute for Public Affairs at (212) 613-8123 or by e-mail at ipa@ou.org.

UOJCA APPRECIATES PRIME MINISTER OLMERT'S PROMPT CLARIFICATION ON JERUSALEM NEGOTIATIONS
Reiterates call that Jerusalem remains the united, eternal capital of Israel and the Jewish people

Today, the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, the nation's largest Orthodox Jewish umbrella organization, issued a statement in response to Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's comments to reporters that Jerusalem would remain the last issue to be resolved with the Palestinians and to reports that construction will continue on Jewish projects in East Jerusalem.

UOJCA President Stephen J. Savitsky, Executive Vice President Rabbi Dr. Tzvi Hersh Weinreb and Director of Public Policy Nathan J. Diament stated:

We are appreciative of Prime Minister Olmert's swift response to our call for clarification to media reports regarding the status of Jerusalem. We are equally appreciative of his government's decision to continue approval and construction of Jewish projects in "East Jerusalem".

The Orthodox Union continues to believe that Jerusalem must remain the united and eternal capital of the State of Israel and the Jewish People, a position held both by a majority of Israeli Jews and American Jews, across political affiliation and religious denomination. We also hope that Prime Minister Olmert will further clarify that there are no secret talks concurrently occurring on Jerusalem.

Jonathan Pollard's letter to the people of Sederot. His words are so prescient..

bs"d

Thank you rosewalk@concentric.net for sending me this

Pollard to Sderot: Praying for your success
By Yaara Maitliss -Arutz7 Hebrew News - February 15, 2008
[Translated to English by J4JP]

Esther Pollard, wife of Jonathan Pollard, the longest-held Israeli captive
languishing in an American prison, published an inspiring letter about two
years ago from her husband to the beleaguered people of Sderot under
bombardment, in which he calls upon the Government of Israel to stop the
abandonment before there are casualties. What is most amazing, his words are
so prescient that it seems as if the letter had been written today.

Pollard opens his letter with these words, "To the Dear People of Sderot,
HaShalom v'habracha! Although it is no simple matter for me in my current
circumstances, I feel compelled to get a message of encouragement and
support out to you. Five years ago,  (YM: that is now 7 years ago) I
concluded a letter to former Prime Minster Ariel Sharon with the following
statement: "Recent events in Israel demonstrate that you have an uncanny
ability to tolerate the agony of our people at this excruciating time in our
history. Be aware that this ability to block out their cries and ignore
their suffering is no more than an extension of your ability to tolerate the
agony of one Israeli agent. After all, 5 million is just 5 million
multiplied by one."

"In truth, when I wrote these words I would never have imagined how
absolutely accurate they would be today. At that time, absolutely no one
ever
imagined, even in their worst nightmares, that the situation of Am Yisrael
would degenerate to the extent that it has. Please know, Dear People of
Sderot, that in your determination to put an end to the abandonment of your
city to terror, you are fighting not only for the people of Sderot, but also
for the State and for the Nation at large," Pollard adds in his letter.

Pollard continues his message to the residents and writes, "A government
which allows your lives to be jeopardized daily by on-going missile attacks
is a government which is capable of abandoning every single citizen without
exception. If at one time there were those who believed that the victims of
government abandonment were limited to certain select individuals or groups
that could be ignored, such as: the MIAs, Mudhat Yosef, the SLA army, the
collaborators, or old folks and sick people, today it is clear that the
policy of government abandonment puts every Israeli citizen at risk! We must
restore the ideal of "Arevut Hadadit" (mutual responsibility) to our
national consciousness! All for one and one for all!"

Pollard concludes with a request, "I wish I could be with you in person at
this time to demonstrate with you in Sderot. Since I am prevented from doing
so, I am sending my dear wife, Esther, to you to bring you this letter and
this message. I call upon all The People of Israel: Stand up for your
bothers, the People of Sderot! If not for their sake, then for your own!"

Pollard signs off with the words, "Much the same way that no one could
imagine just a few short years ago that cities in Israel would be blowing up
and the world would not come to a stand-still over it, today no one can
imagine just how bad things may get if we do not wake up, and do what needs
to be done now. I pray for your success and for a speedy recovery for those
who have been injured. I urge you not to despair, for ultimately justice and
truth must prevail! With love of Israel, Jonathan Pollard."

I stand to be corrected re: Agudath Yisroel. Strength of Agudah. Shaliach Hashem

bs"d

Susie Dym sddym@bezeqint.net spokesperson for Mattot Arim a grassroots organization for Eretz Yisroel responds to my comments regarding  apparent lack of effectiveness of Agudahs resolution regarding Jerusalem at this years Agudah Convention  on US Policy.

a. personally i would not say to people that Aguda's statements did not have any effect on the us government. bH it is not true that the aguda's statements had no effect, in fact quite the opposite: (1) olmert was very upset by them and he made a very sharp statement indicating he was rattled by this development. (2) the Annapolis statement did not contain any overt mention of jerusalem (3) shas made a conditional commitment to leave the govt.
none of 1, 2, 3 is a geula shlema. 1 2 3 all together also are not a geula shlema. but they are ALL important steps forward, which show the great strength of aguda as שליח ה.

Dangerous Times, Rabbi Wolpo video , Rav Eliashiv, Rav Shteinman

SIX MILLION LIVES IN DANGER - RABBI WOLPO SPEAKS THE SIMPLE TRUTH

SIX MILLION LIVES IN DANGER
Rabbi Wolpo on Video

In 1965, the Catholic Church reclassified the Jewish people in a document they call Nostra Aetate.

Nostra Aetate (Latin for "In Our Time") is the historic document that, in 'The Jewish Chapter', established the theological foundations for reconciliation between the Roman Catholic Church and the Jewish People.
Nostra Aetate renounced the centuries' old canard [a false or baseless, usually derogatory story, report, or rumor] that the Jewish people collectively were a deicide [the act of killing a god] nation, guilty of killing God.

It took the Catholic Church 1,965 years to upgrade the Jewish people from being classified as murders.

Former Prime Minister Yitzchok Rabin was murdered in 1995, almost 13 years ago. I wonder if it will take another 1,952 years before religious Jews and their Rabbis will be exonerated from the murder they did not commit.

The official version of the Rabin assassination identifies Yigal Amir as the guilty perpetrator. Amir was affiliated with a right wing political group. It is a known fact, as confirmed by the courts, that the leader of the group - a very influential person in Amir's life - was an agent of the Shin Bet [internal security service], not an orthodox rabbi.

Through media and hype, orthodox rabbis were blamed for the murder. They were accused of incitement because they publicized the dangers that Rabin was putting Jews into and they called him a traitor. The dangers that the rabbis predicted have evolved from speculation to reality. If the definition of a traitor is a person who commits treason by betraying his or her country, then Rabin is a traitor. He broke the laws of his country that deal with terrorists and he broke the trust that people placed in him to do his utmost to bring safety to his constituents.

I think the best way to describe the reaction of the rabbis to this accusation, is by calling it fear. The rabbis were afraid to take a stand and challenge the canard. They turned their backs on the people in danger and focused on more politically correct issues.

With the rabbis silenced, subsequent Prime Ministers are free to act in a traitorous way without having to worry about religious leaders, men of influence, challenging their acts. To point out a traitorous act became akin to murdering a Prime Minister.

The headline of the January 11th edition of the Forward newspaper read, "Rabbi's Incitement Against Olmert." Incitement means to provoke, to stir up some action. The article was written by Nathan Jeffery and was published and posted elsewhere in addition to the Forward.

Upon close examination of the article there is no reference to the accused rabbi of actually inciting. The accused rabbi is Rabbi Sholom Dovber Wolpo. Rabbi Wolpo is the Rav of the Chabad Synagogue of Kiryat Gat, founder and director of the organization HaMateh HaOlami Lema'an HaAm VeAaretz, founder and director of SOS-Israel.com, and prolific author and speaker in matters of Halacha and Shlaimos Ha'Aretz.

Rabbi Wolpo's words that caused the ruckus, point out the laws defining a traitor and the punishment if found guilty by a court of law. If there were any incitement in his words, it is Wolpo asking his listeners to pressure the police to bring the Prime Minister to justice according to the law.

The article by Jeffery is only a sample of how the media, in many places and languages, responded to Wolpo. In his article Jeffery writes, "Wolpo's outburst is so problematic because incitement to violence by rabbis has become the ultimate taboo, since rabbinical injunctions were blamed for inspiring Yitzchok Rabin's assassination in 1995."

This part of the article is surprisingly accurate. The rabbis were blamed. There were no facts to back the accusations. It was not proven or even substantiated that the rabbis were to blame – but they were blamed.

'Incitement to violence by rabbis' is how the public views any statement against a Prime Minister by an orthodox rabbi. Calling for the arrest and trial of someone giving weapons to the enemy at the time of war is an absolute 'incitement to violence,' according to the media, if the one calling happens to be an orthodox rabbi.

Rabbi Wolpo is not willing to wait another 1,952 years for the media to release a statement that they no longer accuse rabbis of killing Rabin. Lives are in danger!

A video clip has been released featuring Rabbi Wolpo, the one rabbi who is not afraid to speak the truth. On the video Wolpo expresses sincere concern and compassion about the security of Jews living in Eretz Yisroel. He is more afraid of destruction than being blamed. He is calm and composed and tells the facts… the truth.

Rabbi Wolpo has one agenda. He wants to prevent another Holocaust. There are now approximately six million Jews living in Eretz Yisroel. On his video Wolpo explains how, if the government carries through with its plans, all six million lives will be in grave danger.

So I forwarded this letter to Rabbi Avi Shafran, spokesperson of Agudah asking him to please reply to Odelia's question.  This was his reply.

 In a message dated 2/13/2008 9:39:47 A.M. Eastern Standard Time, Shafran@agudathisrael.org writes:

Only last week we publicized (to yeshivos, shuls and a large e-mail list) a call from the Gedolim in E"Y to recite Tehillim and convene Yom Kippur Koton services on erev Rosh Chodesh because of the dire situation in E"Y, and held such a service in our offices.  Any other special tefillos or actions that those Gedolim ask us to do, you may rest assured we will undertake with alacrity.

"Remains silent"?  Perhaps your correspondent might pursue a true zechut for Klal Yisrael in Eretz Yisrael in not judging other Jews harshly and unfairly.

May we merit better times.

I responded by saying Will the fact that we davaned last week suffice? Would that really stop the Kassam Rockets?    On the other hand, constant, action, networking, public pressure, etc.  whatever, to physically stop the Kassam Rockets and of course daven, now that would be much more effective.

Apparently this response didn't impress Rabbi Shafran.  But perhaps he will be more open to your responses.

Here is an excellent letter to the Gedoilim from Menachem Kovacs.

to influential Rabbanim to act now to keep Yehuda and Shomron as well as all Jerusalem under Jewish control

Rosh Chodesh Adar Rishon, Parshas Teruma

Dear Distinguished Rabbanim,

Please use your influence to request a brief and strong public statement from Rav Steinman Shlita and Rav Eliyashi Shlita and from other prominent Rabbanim and other Jewish leaders and organizations to overtly support the importance of Israel retaining Yehuda and the Shomron (aka "The West Bank") in addition to all of Jerusalem because;

(a)    They are all integral parts of Eretz HaKodesh and not "occupied" lands as our enemies contend. The very first Rashi in the Chumash tells us we will have to tell the world when they say we stole the Land that we should reply that it was G-d who gave it to us and in Parshas Masei inter alia it is G-d Himself who delineates the Holy Land's boundaries which include Yehuda and the Shomron, and

(b)   Abandoning Yehuda and Shomron, G-d forbid, would put the Jews in the remaining Israel in  a real and present existential danger on a much larger scale than the Jews today in Sderot, Ashkelon, etc. who are faced with daily rocket attacks and fatalities. The 1967 Report on Israeli security requirements of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Defense Department (The Pentagon) concluded that retention of the entire West Bank as well as Jerusalem, The Golan Heights and Gaza is an indefinite security imperative for the Jewish State, With the abandonment of Gaza to Hamas terrorist rule with increasingly advanced weapons and with the renewed stockpiling of weapons by Hizbollah after Israel's defeat in the Second Lebanon War, Israel must draw its red lines with the remaining land for its self-defense.

This is not a "political" matter. It is a matter of Israel's survival and, perhaps in turn, the survival of the Jewish people.  In addition, what is at stake goes to the very essence of retaining our connection as the Am Hashem to Eretz Hakodesh, a holiness we witness and experience every day and even more so now during this Shmitta year. Through your efforts now in this matter of Pikuach Nefesh, where Jewish lives and deaths are literally at stake, may Hashem bless your efforts with success to reverse the evil decree as He did "in those days at this time".  May the result be that the Jews in Israel and indeed everywhere will truly experience "Orah VeSimch VeSasson Vicar", dwelling securely with Hashem's protection.

BeKavod Rav.

Menachem Kovacs

Agudah made a commitment to speak out for Jerusalem.   They did so at their Agudah convention in November.

Part of their resolution is as follows:"NOW, THEREFORE, the delegates to the 85th national convention of Agudath Israel of America hereby resolve that Agudath Israel of America, under the direction of its rabbinic leadership, should communicate to appropriate government officials the organization's strong belief that, for the reasons set forth above, Israel should not relinquish parts of Jerusalem to Palestinian sovereignty, and the American government should not pressure the Israeli government into doing so."

So the United States gov't didn't listen to Agudah's appeal.  Neither did Olmert.  So is that the end of Agudah's appeal.  If someone you love is threatening to go off a cliff and you ask him not to and he doesn't listen, do you simply give up trying to convince him and only pray? What happened pre Nazi Germany?  Jews were silent then as well.

Of course, it's not just about Jerusalem.  It's not just about Sederot.  It's about all of Eretz Yisroel.   Even if Olmert's gov't agrees due to public pressure, to allow Jerusalem to remain in tact (no prayers allowed however on Temple Mount) and to continue with the destruction of settlements in Judea and Samaria to pacify those that object to dividing Jerusalem only, we can't be fooled. it's not the real thing.  It's only their phase one of taking Jerusalem as well.

If Olmert speaks tough or responds marginally, regarding the Kassam rockets but continues to allow an influx of weapons into Gaza and turns a blind eye, then his talk is to pacify us but it's not for real.

Let Agudah use their inside influence to convince Rabbi Ovadia Yosef and Shas ministers to leave the government.  Even Rav Ovadia Yosef's oldest son, Rabbi Yaakov Yosef made a statement that Shas should leave the government since there is serious negotiations going on regarding Jerusalem.  Will they wait too long to leave as did Netanyahu?
