Yasher Koach to the Yesha Activists!

bs"d

Dear Fellow Activists for the Entire Land of Israel,  amv"sh

Yasher Koach!  I hope the momentum continues.  My concern is that when it comes to activism for Israel in the Diaspora the Jewish voice is still too silent. There is still a void because the major religious Jewish organizations such as Agudath Yisroel, Young Israel and OU are silent regarding Judea and Samaria.  We've come down hard for good reason on the OU.  I think at this point we need to take a softer tone of being Mekarev all these organizations with personal calls from Yesha leaders and Yesha activists to the leadership of the Silent Majority also known as the CCJER (Coordinating Council for Jerusalem) in the Diaspora.  Agudath Yisroel of America stressed at their  Agudah convention that we are one Guf  (body) and one Neshama (soul).  Because of Areivus, when we do good, we are all raised but when many of us are on the wrong path it brings us all down.  They were referring specifically to Kiruv (outreach) and the fact that 1 million Jews were lost to assimilation this past 10 years alone. However, the same can be said regarding how the Jew views his obligations in the Land of Israel.  The majority of Jews in the Diaspora and in Israel proper seem to feel that a disconnect to the Land of Israel is authentic Judaism.  They have therefore abandoned Yesha, Judea and Samaria.  In Parshat Veera Hashem says that He appeared to the forefathers but did not appear with the name Hashem only with the name Kel Shakai.  That is because Hashem promised them the Land but in their lifetime the promises never materialized.  They did not complain and believed in His promises. However to Moshe Rabbeinu, G-d is appearing with the name of Hashem because He will now show that He keeps His promises and is taking the Jews out of Egypt and bringing them back to the Land of Israel.  Let us say that in our generation G-d has appeared to us in the name of Hashem.  He has after 2,000 years fulfilled His promise to bring us back to the Land of Israel after we witnessed the fiery furnace of the Holocaust.  How can we continue to remain blind to the unbelievable miracles our generation has experienced including day after day in Sederot. How can we not even claim this precious Land as ours . If we truly desire to keep the commandments then we need the Land and this will bring peace and blessings to all of mankind.  Israel is peace and their ways of Torah is peace.  The accomplishments in technology, medicine, agriculture, disaster relief, the arts and music is benefiting the entire world.  When we allow terror to take over we destroy these gifts to mankind and destroy any future peace that fosters all contributions towards peace and prosperity.  The people of Israel, like no other nation wishes and desires to benefit mankind.  For this we require to be on our Land with exclusive sovereignty.  If we allow the criminal thief to take over, to rape us, to commit identity theft then we have essentially robbed the world of G-dliness and goodness for mankind.  The commandments, the Mitzvoth are the vehicle to bring forth this goodness to its ultimate.  It is therefore mandatory for the Torah believing community to take that public role of being a Mamlechet Kohanim Vegoy Kadosh. a Kingdom of Priests and a Holy Nation.  There must be some proclamation by our leadership which declares the Land of Israel, and the G-d given borders as absolute and nonnegotiable the rightful inheritance of the Nation of Israel.  The Silence in the Jewish Leadership has brought non Jewish Groups as the loudest Voice.  The Laws of Noah is the Torah for the Non Jew and not missionary forces.  We must strive for unity among the Nation of Israel since G-d can only bring His blessings when we unite.  Letting the chareidi or modern orthodox Diaspora Jew continue in their blindness to fall off the cliff and learn the hard way is simply not an option.  Yes we will survive but at what cost.  We are one Nation and if we love our brother we need to do whatever it takes to convince him that this Land is each and every one of ours.  Of course the secular Jew is as precious as any Jew that has studied the Torah his/her whole life.  However, we should expect more from the Jew that goes to the synagogue each week and is familiar with the Torah reading for that week. Our Written and Rabbinic Tradition pertains to each and every Jew and Non Jew in some didactic way.  Of course we must outreach to our fellow Jew who was not that fortunate to have learned or study the Torah.  Their contribution is equal and necessary for a wholesome unity.  When a Jew is lost, then the whole is lacking. When the Jews observe the commandments in the Land of Israel then once again G-d will be true to His promise and extend bessings that are never ending to all of mankind and all of humanity.

President Bush will be in Jerusalem on January 9th to push his "Palestinian State in '08" proposal forward with East Jerusalem as the capital. This is President's Bush first trip to Israel since becoming president. His goal is to convince the Israeli public that a Palestine State with East Jerusalem as its capital is in their best interest and he has the support of the American people. 21,150 people have signed the urgent petition to the president. Send this to everyone on your list and ask everyone to do the same. We need 100,000 signatures so President Bush knows that we will not support the U.S. dividing Jerusalem. He has mobilized virtually the entire world behind this plan. If everyone will just get four friends to sign this we will have the 100,000.

If you have friends that don't have access to the internet, please print a copy and have them sign it and mail it in.

Regarding Avi Shafran of Agudath Yisroel and the dangers of Jewish Blogs.

bs"d

Please read Avi Shafran's post regarding the dangers and pitfalls of Jewish blogging.

I feel that blogs can bring up important issues that reflect important issues of the day that will be swept under the rug otherwise.  The following is a case in point.

I have spoken to Avi Shafran by phone and we agree to disagree.  I have asked how come Agudath Yisroel has been silent regarding Yesha (Judea and Samaria) and have been silent about Bush's Roadmap the 2 State Solution.  Isn't this solution clearly against the Torah? What about the Torah Roadmap. It is Rabbi Shafran's opinion that we must trust the Gedoilim and as a lay person not be presumptious to question their knowledge of world events and their decision to speak out or not.  He said that perhaps their decisions are based on whether they will actually have an impact or not etc.  I answered I do not question our Gedoilim Batorah's love for Eretz Yisroel.  However, the root cause of Lashon Hara is failure to encourage the Jewish people to go to Eretz Yisroel and conquer and settle the Land.  The Miraglim the Spies, who were the spiritual leaders of the desert instead preferred to stay in the desert where there was all day learning and studying Torah.  They experienced fear to conquer the 7 Nations.  Yet Hashem said this was a grievous sin for that generation since Hashem had promised Am Yisroel Eretz Yisroel as an eternal inheritance and G-d is all powerful.

How can we ignore the Nissim Gluyim, the revealed miracles in our generation, especially the 6 Day War and the continuous miracles each and every day in Sederot and the unbelievable miracles  that happened daily in Gush Katif.  If we go happenstance than Hashem will go with us happenstance.  I didn't seem to convince Rabbi Shafran, but he did ackowledge the sincerity of my arguments.  I expressed my agreement that we must follow the Gedolim rulings and not diverge right or left but that is if these rulings are Al Pi Hatorah, by the accepted Rabbanim in Yerushalyim (the Sanhedrin) at that time as it says in the Torah.  I told him that perhaps the Gedolim's considerations were many such as money for the Torah institutions and family subsidies, backlash from the Goyim etc.  However, Emunah Peshuta of Daas Torah is that the Land of Israel belongs to Am Yisroel and we in turn are obligated to keep the Mitzvoth Teluyot Baaretz, the commandments dependant on the Land. Even Satmar should agree with that.  Halvei we should have a Sanhedrin in Yerushalyim that is accepted by all, and  whose rulings are made according to the Torah with Hashem's Blessings.  Then we would be obligated to adhere to these rulings w/o diverting right or left.  However, when on Temple Mount, Hamas broadcasts to all the Arabs on Asara Betevet, calling for the destruction of Israel, claiming that Yishmael was bound instead of Yitzchok, and only Rabbi Chaim Richman of Temple Institute and supported by the New Jewish Congress, (which includes the Sanhedrin that was established but does not represent a unified consensus) protests, and the CCJER (Coordinating Council of Jerusalem including Agudath Yisroel, Young Israel, and OU) remains silent regarding this  terrible Chillul Hashem, then isn't it reasonable in a blog to ask from the Agudath Yisroel why they choose to go with the CCJER rather than with the established Sanhedrin?  The "controversial" Sanhedrin came out against the expulsion of Gush Katif, and Rosh Agudath Yisroel, Rav Perlow, admits to it's terrible aftershocks and dismal failure to bring security and devastating consequences to the people from Gush Katif, yet Agudath Yisroel still will not speak out to prevent another Gush Katif in Yesha (Judea and Samaria).  Will we after the fact express that we share in their pain?  How about preventing the pain?  And even if we believe it wouldn't make a difference, maybe let's just try to state the emes just in case it might made a difference. If mainstream Orthodox Judaism fails to publicly object to a the Two state solution and a State of Palestine, chas veshalom, and President Bush has been talking about it since 2002, then why should President Bush even think that Eretz Yisroel, including Judea and Samaria is important to the Jews.  In fact, many Jews have concluded that Eretz Yisroel is not that important for the Jews and necessary for us to be observant Jews. After all, we are now in Galus and until Moshiach comes. Eretz Yisroel is not relevant for us practically.

But why should Moshiach reveal himself if we refuse to recognize the blatant miracles of our generation and don't show much desire to actually keep the Mitzvoth Teluyot Baaret?  The Gedoilim has ruled for good reason that it is assur to eat any produce with the Heter Mechira  which is symbolic selling of the Land, yet do not object when the Land of Israel is actually being given to Goyim? Isn't this inconsistent? How can we observe Shemittah properly when we give the Land away, assuming it was ours to give away.  Doesn't G-d say Ki Li Kol Haaretz?

Thank you for listening.
