CAJL Conference of Authentic Jewish Leadership
CC Calling campaign

A must see video!

Rabbi Chaim Richman spokesperson for the New Jewish Congress responds to the broadcast of Hamas  Radio from Temple Mount on Asara Betevet  also the anniversary of  an Islamic "holiday" celebrating the binding of "Yishmael"  to be sacrificed. (rather than Isaac )  Their broadcast called for the destruction of Israel on Asara Betevet.

Isn't it time for the Jewish People and  Leaders like Agudath Yisroel, the Young Israel, the OU to join with the New Jewish Congress to assert our Jewish identity and put an end to this horrendous identity theft.  Agudah Public Affairs Liason, Chaim Dovid Zwiebel, has expressed concerns over Mideast "Peace Process". Rabbi Zwiebel, Please Clarify!   Isn't Agudath Yisroel  against a Palestinian "Homeland" and the destruction of the settlements in Judea and Samaria? PLEASE SAY SO!  Your constituents have faith in you to represent them and to be their voice.   The Coordinating Council of Jerusalem http://www.ccjer.org/ has been silent for the last month.  We are anxiously awaiting to hear your voice! Bush is going to Israel on January 8th to promote the destruction of Jewish Settlements of Judea and Samaria.  Please assert our Jewish Rights and Sovereignty for Temple Mount and our Sovereignty of Judea and Samaria which our enemies wish to replace with a Palestinian "Homeland".

To all my fellow lovers of Eretz Yisroel. Please beg the Agudath Yisroel of America, the Young Israel and the OU,   the spiritual leaders of hundreds of thousands of Jews in America, representing almost all the orthodox  shuls and Yeshivas and day schools, the voice of  all your family members and friends in the United States to raise their Voices.   Their voices are much too Silent.  They too must love Eretz Yisroel.  We need to hear their love expressed loudly.  If they hear from you that will give them the strength that is needed.  The Mayor of Jerusalem, Mayor Lupiansky said at the Agudah Convention that the Jews of America are influential.  They must not wait until it is too late.  Tell them to say NO to the Destruction of Jewish Settlements in Judea and Samaria!  Tell them to say NO to another Gush Katif.   Email all your lists.Your individual voice makes a difference.  Collectively we will be heard.

Holy Places Holy Lives by Avi Shafran and comments unabridged.

bs"d

Please refer to an article by Rabbi Avi Shafran in Cross-Currents http://www.cross-currents.com/

(Cross-Currents writes about themselves: Cross-Currents is a journal of thought and reflections, from an array of Orthodox Jewish writers. We post about issues of the day and issues of our days, representing our individual perspectives.)

Chaim David wrote the following  comment in response to my first comment.  This is my response back to him and to Avi Shafran:

Robin Ticker, consider this. Moshiach did not come yet. We are still in golus.

You claim that if the current state of Israel gives control of land back to the Palestinians the Jewish people lose it. This is simply wrong. We have been and will always be the rightful owners of Eretz Yisrael, regardless of the claim any Crusader, Turk or Briton. The State could never surrender that claim to anybody.

But until Moshiach comes and HaShem returns us in glory to our land, that claim will not be exercised. So long as the Jewish people remain in golus—where we are now—we will not be able to take over the land and use it fully with all our latent rights to it. The State of Israel cannot annul our exile by paper claims that the Jews have now returned to the land.

So the legal rights of who owns the land today according to the worthless laws of the goyim—whether it be the state or the Palestinians—are meaningless in Shamayim.

Do not worry. My inheritance, your inheritance, all our land of Israel, are protected and sure. Daven to HaShem and ask for redemption. Come and live here and commit the place you live to the place you value most—your land.

My unabridged to Chaim Dovid and to Rabbi Shafran:

There is a prevalent attitude  that unless one lives in Israel, one should have no real say regarding who is chosen to represent Israel. Perhaps they are afraid that if religious Jews from the Diaspora want their voices heard and represented, then the voice of all the leftist secular Jews will also want to be heard and represented. My feeling is that the Torah is what gives us a right to the Land of Israel or rather stewardship. G-d owns the Land. By not claiming the Land as ours in order to keep the Commandments, we then don't deserve the land. In fact, the Land kicks us out. We will still eternally remain the rightful owners so long as we keep the Mitzvoth. That is the precondition. Yet, if we by choice give away our material, our candle, that can create the light, there is darkness. How can we keep the Mitzvoth Teluyot Baaretz when you give away the Land. Can one keep tefillin if they cut off their hand? At the Agudah Convention, Rabbi Malkiel Kotler and other Gedoilim BaTorah speak about Am Yisroel being One Neshama. One Guf. There is Areivus. So if the majority of Jews, chareidim and secular Jews, don't value Eretz Yisroel or the Mitzvoth of the Land, than collectively, we are all lacking. Does one have to make Aliya? That is the ideal. But as I myself painfully, G-d is in control, and actually living in the Land is a real zechus not possible unfortunately for many. However, at the very least, we need to say that Eretz Yisroel is our Land and individually do whatever we can in whatever capacity to help build, settle and do Mitzvoth teluyot Baaretz, ourselves or by helping those that have the zechus to live in the Land, for only this will bring the Moshiach. Why do some Jews think that we have to wait for Moshiach who will bring us to Eretz Yisroel. Maybe the opposite is true. Moshiach is waiting for us to show Hashem that we actually desire Eretz Yisroel. After 2000 years Hashem gives us Sovereignty and we disregard it. Hashem says if we act with happenstance then He will act to us with happenstance. How can we disregard the continuous miracles from Hashem from the beginnings of the establishment of Jewish Sovereignty till the present in Sederot? Was Kingship established in E"Y immediately after entering E"Y following the Midbar. First there was Yehoshua, then Shoftim and Shmuel. The people demanded a king too early in fact. All these Neviim Rishonim chastise Am Yisroel for not ridding their Land of the idolotry and the Goyim from the Land. These Goyim became the thorns in their sides as Hashem promised. They did to the Jews what the Jews were to do to them. In todays time they have actually stolen our identity. They claim that we are the occupiers.

In 1937 in Marienbad, the Third Kenessiah of Agudas Yisroel was held. Please read below an article from the journal HaPardes (volume 11, Issue 7, October 1937), 70 years ago, reprinted in Mishpacha Issue 179, 6 Cheshvan 5768, October 17,2007 Page 26)————————————————————————————————————-

"On Sunday, 16 Elul, the great Torah leaders discussed the question of a Jewish State, and reached the greatly anticipated decision of the congress. It was a stormy assembly, attended by the Rebbes of Gur, Ghorkov, Boyan, Sadigura, and the great Torah schoilars members of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah (Rabbinical Council). A great battle took place, over seven hours, with struggles about every minute detail of the decision.

"Rabbi Wasserman, Rabbi Kotler, Rabbi Rottenberg of Antwerp, and rabbis from Czechoslovakia and Hungary were unanimous in rejecting any proposal for a Jewish State on either side of the Jordan River even if it were established as a religious state, because such a regime would be a form of heresy in our faith in the belief in the coming of the Mashiach and especially since this little Jewish State would be built on heresy and desecration of the Name of G-d.

"Arguing against them were the Rebbes of Boyan and Sadigura. Rabbi Tzirelson, the president of the congress, Rabbi [Aharon] Lewin of Reisha [the head of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah] and Rabbi Sorotzkin, [who said that] it is possible to agree, according to the laws of the Torah, to the establishment of a Jewish State in a portion of the Eretz Yisael without denying the belief in the coming of redeemer. There is no need to be concerned that the nonreligious would use the Jewish State to attack our religion. therefore, it is forbidden to reject entirely the matter of the Jewish State; rather we must pursue expanding its borders and ensuring that the laws of a Jewish State will be founded on religion and tradition, and we must protest that they did not consult frum Judaism and did not include its leaders in this discussion.

"Those in favor won the vote! All the decisions were accepted affirmatively."

Although the majority of the congress seemed to be in favor of the partition plan, the text of the resolution of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah contains the statements. " The foundation of the Jewish peoples right to the Holy Land is based on the Torah and the prophets…A Jewish State not based on the principles of Torah is a denial of Jewish origin, is opposed to the identity and to the true stature of our people, and undermines the basis of existence of our people…Any relinquishment of the Holy Land given to the Jewish people by G-d has no validity" (HaPardes 11:6)
————————————————————————————————————-

My question is how come when the Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah saw that there was a possiblity to return to Eretz Yisroel, and felt they were too weak to take on the Chilonim? Why didn't they use all their influence to convince the Jews to go to Eretz Yisroel in order to make it a place based on Torah and Mitzvoth. Why did they allow the Chilonim to take over? Apparently, they did not want to join with those that were anti Torah. Had they in 1937 called all Jews to go to Eretz Yisroel, then perhaps these Jews might have survived the Holocaust. So now let's undo the mistake of not consulting with our Gedolei Batorah regarding a Torah Authority in Eretz Yisroel. It is my impression that if Rav Eliashiv and the other Rabbanim of Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah would be presented with the goal of setting up a Judean Authority based on Torah, they would welcome and support the idea with open arms. Hasn't this been our prayers for the last 2,000 years? In addition it would be advantageous to also bring unity with Rabbanim in the Religious Zionist camps and with the established Sanhedrin who clearly came out against the disengagement. Why not even join with Satmar and convince them that we are facing an enemy that is out to destroy us? Why can't we insist to keep the Mitzvah of Shemittah in E"Y. Why not believe that a Torah Authority is truly a possibility. It is only not a reality because the majority of Jews do not support it as a reality. If there can be a Palestinian Authority than for sure let there be instead a Torah Authority in Yesha. It's a catch 22. We need a majority of Jews to support a Yesha Torah Authority. We are not talking about physically moving to Yesha, though that is the ideal, but simply to support the idea, the dream. Not to label these G-d fearing Jews as extremists, or Messianic extremists. Many Jews say we will not support this idea because there is not yet a majority supporting this idea. Just the fringe. It is not politically correct. We will sound too racist, just like our enemies.

Let us remind our fellow Jew that Eretz Yisroel with a Torah based constitution with a Sanhedrin is Torah.

The moral justification of such an action (ceding from the State of Israel) needs support from the Jews. If the only objection is implementation, we are too weak etc, that is a seperate issue. If there is open support and backing for the moral legitimacy of the Jews of Yesha to cede from the State of Israel, that alone is a deterrent for the Government of Israel to execute any military operation against Yesha communities. Questions about how the Jews in Yesha should respond when the gov't asks them to relinquish their weapons should be seriously addressed since it's imminently relevant. Once weapons are relinquished it will be that much more difficult to defend oneself and that is why the government is being proactive. Shailoth regarding disobeying immoral orders such as refusing to expel fellow Jew from Judea and Samaria should be addressed. Soldiers who find themselves conscientious objectors for the IDF need another venue where their desire to truly defend Eretz Yisroel is actualized. You might argue that we are too weak to start our own Torah Authority. It's not practical. First of all, I am convinced that indeed it is very possible if there is desire by the majority of Jews. But look at the alternative. We are looking another Hitler in the face. It's either we put our trust in the Ribbono Shel Olam or we face another holocaust chas vechalila. What is the point in waiting to openly declare that E"Y is our inheritance. It may be too late later. We can say we davan and let Hashem fight out battles. I believe then that Hashem will fight our battles and we will survive. However, Chas Vechalila will just a small remnant survive? We want the entire Nation to be worthy. And for that the Nation must act on faith. They must say that we believe Hashem's promises in the Torah regarding Shemittah. We will endeavor to keep the Mitzvah. For that we need the Land. Heter Mechira is not an option and neither is actually giving the Land away. We put our faith in Hashem and He will provide.

Shavua Tov.

I'd be interested in your comments.

Temple Mount exclusive broadcast rights to Fatah-Hamas. For Zion's sake, I will.

Dear Coordinating Council for Jerusalem  amv"sh

Is CCJER ( Coordinating Council of Jerusalem) www.ccjer.com going to join with New Jewish Congress, the Temple Mount movements and The Sanhedrin and speak out forcefully against this terrible provocation at Har Habayis.  "For Zion's sake, I will not be Silent and for Jerusalem's sake I will not be still...Isaiah 62:1)

You've spoken out before.  Please do so again.  This Coordinating Council has united for Jerusalem's sake.  Now is the Time to raise your voices before it is too late.  This past Thanksgiving, at the Agudah Convention in Stamford Connecticut, on Motzei Shabbos,  the theme was an Undivided Jerusalem.  Rav Perlow, the Noveminsker, the Rosh Agudath Yisroel spoke.  He said that he actually took a plane recently to Eretz Yisroel for the sole purpose of speaking to Rav  Eliashiv and Rav Shteinman regarding this matter.  Rav Eliashiv said clearly that he is against giving away parts of Yerushalyim. Rav Shteinman also agreed.  Rav Eliashiv told Rav Perlow that he can say so publicly in his name and with full strength (Bechol Hatokef).  Rav Eliashiv said "Will we have to ask permission of the Yishmaelim to daven at the Kosel?"  Rav Perlow asked the audience regarding the Gov't of Israel "Can we trust them with Security???" The Mayor of Jerusalem, the Honorable Uri Lupiansky then spoke.  He told the audience that we in America have great influence.  He asked us not to wait until it gets too late to speak up. He reminded us what happened when there was a riot at on Har Habayit.  They started throwing stones at the Kotel square. He said it was a miracle that no one was killed.  He said that the enemy is within.  They are the forces that wish to divide us like a piece of Salami, piece by piece and hand us to our enemies.

Israel Gov't, Police Stand by as Hamas Broadcasts from Temple Mt

11 Tevet 5768, 20 December 07 09:12
by Hillel Fendel

(<http://israelnn.com/>IsraelNN.com) More Olmert-Fatah-Hamas
collusion: Hamas has been given exclusive radio broadcast rights from
the Temple Mount this week - while Jews mourning the First Temple
siege are banned from the site.

This week is the Moslem holiday Ein ul-Adhaa, marking the Islamic
equivalent of Akeidat Yitzchak (the binding of Isaac by Abraham); the
Koran, written in the late 7th century C.E., substituted Ishmael for
Isaac.

Yesterday, as well, was the Jewish fast day of Asarah B'Tevet,
commemorating the beginning of the siege by Nebuchadnezzar on
Jerusalem over 2,500 years ago that resulted in the destruction of
the First Temple, untold thousands of deaths, and a 70-year-long
Jewish exile from the Holy Land.

"The siege of Nebuchadnezzar is recurring again in our time," said
Rabbi Chaim Richman of the Temple Institute, "this time through the
Israeli government, which is banning Jews and Christians but is
allowing Hamas, who will defile G-d in our holiest place. There is no
greater demonstration of the total spiritual bankruptcy of the
Israeli government."

He told Arutz-7 that if, alternatively, it is not the Israeli
government that is responsible, "then who are we kidding when we say
that Fatah will fight Hamas?  We see clearly that they work together,
and Fatah has just as much of an interest in broadcasting Hamas
incitement to murder Zionists as Hamas does."

"It is unbelievable that [US Secretary of State Condoleeza ] Rice and
[Foreign Minister Tzipi] Livni continue to repeat that a 'strong PA
and Palestinian state to fight terror is in the interest of Israel,'
when we see obviously that Fatah has no desire at all to fight Hamas
terrorism."

An ISDN line regularly broadcasts, over PA radio, the Islamic prayer
services from the Temple Mount. This week, however, it granted the
license to do so to Hamas - complete with Hamas Radio commercials,
station identifications, and incitement against Jews. "Whoever wants
to hear the Temple Mount services this week has to go to HamasRadio,"
says Rabbi Richman.

Rabbi Richman was astounded at the symbolism involved: "Closing the
Temple Mount to Jews all week long, including on our fast day,
because of the Moslem holiday, emphasizes that the government not
only favors Moslem sensibilities over Jewish ones, but also the
Koranic version of our history over that of the Tanach, our Bible."

ily's Aaron Klein reported that Hamas celebrated the "victory" of its
broadcasts: "Our broadcast is a victory for the Al Aqsa Mosque, which
is suffering from Judaization efforts imposed by the Zionist
government," said Rami Kaoud, a manager at Hamas' Al Aqsa Radio.
"Broadcasting daily radio is a way to bring Al Aqsa to the Gaza Strip
and challenge the siege imposed on us by the Zionist entity."

A joint statement by the New Jewish Congress, the Temple Mount
movements and The Sanhedrin states, "Not only is Hamas trying, with
the Palestinian Authority, to destroy the State of Israel and all its
[Jewish] inhabitants, but now the Government of Israel has decided to
give over the Temple Mount, the apple of the Jewish Nation's eye, for
the use of enemy incitement."

By Aaron Klein

JERUSALEM - A Jewish group representing hundreds of U.S. synagogues says it is "incomprehensible" that Israel is allowing a Muslim dig on the Temple Mount and has demanded Prime Minister Ehud Olmert immediately halt the blasting of a massive trench and allow archaeologists to inspect the site.

Avi Shafran - More on why Agudath Yisroel made a statement for Yerushalayim

Rabbi Shafran writes:

< Eretz Yisrael is the land not of any particular temporal government but of the Jewish People. >

I agree completely.

< Jews who are fortunate to live on the Jewish Land's holy soil are the brothers and sisters of Jews everywhere else. To suggest that any Jew or Jewish group does not have a right – or anything less than a responsibility – to speak up when an Israeli government seems poised to do something objectionable or dangerous is to deny the bond of Jews to both their ancestral homeland and to other Jews.>

I agree as well. The Jew is bound to their ancestral Homeland whether or not he/she resides in the Land and has the obligation to protect the Land and Settle the Land and keep the Mitzvoth in the Land just as much as his brother/sister that actually lives in the Land of Israel.

<Theoretically – and here Agudath Israel may part company with some other Orthodox groups – we could even countenance a non-Jewish flag flying over the city's walls, if it meant true safety, security and freedom of worship for the Holy Land's Jewish residents. Needless to say, though, such a scenario is nowhere in sight.>

In all due respect, there is a lack of understanding of the role of Am Yisroel in Eretz Yisroel.  Our purpose and raison D-etres is to be a Mamlechet Kohanim VeGoy Kadosh.  A Kingdom of Priests.  This means that we are the Sovereign Nation and others follow our lead.  There is no way we can be a Kingdom of Priests in a live and let live society. What kind of King lives as he wishes and the rest of the people live as they wishes.  The King sets the tone. Our purpose is not to be coercive of all the other nations but rather to be their Priest.  We in turn are servants to Hashem.  The other nations will look to us for guidance as we look to our Kohanim. When we learn about the Avodah in the Beis Hamikdash, we do not say it's not fair that only they get to enter the Sanctuary.  We do not say that it's not fair that only the High Priest can enter the H-ly of H-lies. The opposite.  We recognize that the H-ly service must be done just so.  It is not for everyone.  Yet everyone can learn from how it was conducted and apply it to their daily lives. Every detail is so educational that can be applied to the way we conduct our own lives and the lives of our own families and society.

If we have a strong desire to keep the Mitzvoth Teluyot Baaretz knowing that only through keeping these mitzvoth will Hashem bless our nation with security we would simply tell the world that only Am Yisroel has the mandate to keep the Mitzvoth and for this we need the Land of Israel.  Reciprocity is totally not in the picture as you suggest. Will a democratic peaceful Goyish State keep Shemittah?  Will they do Lequet shikcha and Peah on the non shemittah years? What about Teruma, Maaser and Bikurim?

Only Am Yisroel can bring forth the Kedusha and this holiness will then encompass all of humanity.

As for G-d building the Beit Hamikdash let me suggest the following.  When a person does a Mitzvah like giving Terumah to the Kohein, he does not give a direct present to the Kohein.  He gives it to Hashem.  The Kohein, benefits from the Mitzva to Hashem and not directly from his fellow Jew.  If the motivation for giving is off or if the motivation for receiving is faulty, like if the Kohein feels he owes the giver  or if the giver feels that the Kohein owes him anything, then the Mitzvah was not given or received properly.

Now I will address the other point which states that Hashem Himself will build the 3rd Beit Hamikdash. (I would appreciate the source for the statement, if anyone knows it.)  A possible explanation is that  in the 3rd Beit Hamikdash the way it gets built is totally leshaim Shamayim with no aspirations of personal gain or honor, prestige or money.  Just like we teach our children.  Brick by brick of Mitzvoth. It will be a complete Avodas Kodesh. The end result is that it will be built purely from Mitzva gifts from Am Yisroel and from the Nations of the World.  Moshiach is ready to come today.  However, we must show Him that we truly want Eretz Yisroel and we strongly desire to keep Hashem's Mitzvoth and keep the H-ly Torah.  Now Moshiach is in exile.  He sees that after 2,000 years Hashem has performed miracle after miracle, and continues to do so in Sederot.  Yet Bush speaks of a Two State Solution and we are Silent. If we give away Eretz Yisroel then is there anyway to keep the Mitzvoth of the Land? Can one light a candle if there is no candle?
