In case you had more important things to do on Thursday than watch the James Comey Senate testimony (say, if unlike practically everyone in Washington, you actually had a job to go to), here's the full video and transcript. It's good to see or read the whole thing, because both sides are cherry-picking the parts that make them look good and the other side look bad.

I'd point out, though, that you can sense a difference even in the carefully-edited excerpts some people are citing. The anti-Trump crowd is pulling out Comey's negative comments about Trump – that he found what he said about the Flynn investigation inappropriate; that he accused Trump of lying about FBI staffers having lost confidence in him; etc. – but notice that they tend to be Comey's personal feelings or interpretations of what Trump said or intended. And even Comey admitted that none of them are incriminating or amount to obstruction of justice.

But the things Trump supporters are pulling out – that Comey hid behind a professor friend to leak a private conversation with the President to the New York Times; that he did tell Trump on three occasions that he was not the target of an investigation, just as Trump claimed; that many news stories based on anonymous sources were wrong, like a Times story claiming that Trump's campaign aides "had repeated contacts with Russian intelligence;" that former Attorney General Loretta Lynch interfered in the Hillary Clinton investigation (telling him to call it a "matter," not an investigation, which it plainly was); that Trump didn't try to kill the Russia investigation but just wanted it finished up soon because it's distracting him from doing what Americans elected him to do, etc. – all are revelations of fact, not personal opinions.

Also worth noting is that Comey's own testimony cast doubt on his veracity on several occasions. For instance, his defenders would have us believe that his note to himself about what Trump said in their private meeting is somehow believable because he claims to have written it down right away. But it's still just "he said/he said" hearsay. I could write down the lyrics of "Sweet Home Alabama" and claim it's a transcript of a conversation I had with Chuck Schumer. That doesn't magically turn it into proof. And considering Comey admitted he did it so that he could secretly leak it to the media via a third party and force the appointment of a special prosecutor is manipulation piled on top of dishonesty. Frankly, it taints all his testimony. It does prove one thing, though: Donald Trump's instincts about whom to fire are still right on the money.

Finally, my favorite comment on the whole liberal narrative implosion came not from a pundit or politician but from an anonymous poster on an Internet comment board, who asked this: So Comey could tell that Hillary wasn't trying to obstruct justice when she used hammers and Bleach Bit software to scrub her email server, but he couldn't tell that Trump wasn't trying to obstruct justice when he used the word "hope" to express that he was just hoping for something?

James Comey = Whatever

It must have been keenly disappointing for Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) that the only time James Comey claimed President Trump lied was when he said that with Comey at the helm, the FBI was poorly-led and he'd lost the confidence of the people working under him. Let's put aside for a moment that every fired employee in history probably thought he was doing a bang-up job and the boss who fired him for cause was lying.

Comey then went on in the rest of his testimony to admit that he was too weak to speak frankly to his boss, that he personally leaked details of a closed-door talk with the US President to the New York Times through a beard to hide his identity so he could spark the appointment of a special prosecutor, that he claimed he leaked that story to the Times in response to a Trump tweet that wasn't sent until after the Times story ran, that he knew Trump wasn't under investigation but never said so, and that he never revealed that former Attorney General Loretta Lynch interfered in the investigation of Hillary Clinton by telling him to call it a "matter" instead of an investigation (and for some reason, he didn't bother to write that down to preserve it).

In other words, he proved that Trump wasn't lying: if your boss did all that, would you still have confidence in him?

Trump Told The Truth

In his Senate testimony, James Comey said that media accounts based on anonymous leaks of classified information are often wrong because the people talking about classified data usually aren't privy to it, and people who are don't talk about it. For instance, Comey finally made it clear that Trump was telling the truth: Comey had assured him on three occasions that he was not the subject of an investigation. Trump has been criticized for getting too agitated about that, but how would you like it if you were trying to do the most difficult job in the world and constantly being undermined by false accusations that you were under a federal investigation, and the one subordinate who could confirm you weren't refused to say anything?

Before all the liberal media outlets who've been trying to fan this cold briquette into a raging fire try to shove their phony news down the memory hole, Dan McLaughlin at National Review did a terrific research job in rounding up some of the many boldface headline stories about how "it's official," start the impeachment countdown because Trump is absolutely, positively under federal investigation – as one put it, "for treason!"

It must be great being a political reporter for a liberal media outlet these days. As long as your story hits Trump hard enough, you don't have to check a single fact. It's like writing for Marvel Comics, only with less research required.

The Sovereignty Movement, initiated and founded by Women in Green, is
setting out these days with renewed impetus for the sovereignty
campaign. This is occurring in parallel with the renewed discussion in
Israeli society about the future of Judea and Samaria, marking the
fiftieth anniversary of the victory in the Six Day War.

In the coming days, the Sovereignty Movement will appeal to the
public, via various media outlets and billboard signs, to join the
movement that has been leading, in recent years, the ideological shift
aimed at the political, moral, security and economic solution of the
application of Israel's sovereignty over Judea and Samaria.

"The heads of Women in Green, Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar,
explain the urgency of the campaign, especially in the current period,
saying: "President Donald Trump's visit in Israel in conjunction with
the fifty year anniversary of the liberation of Jerusalem, Judea,
Samaria and the Golan Heights, have increased more than ever, the
public's awareness of the importance of Judea and Samaria to the
future of the State of Israel and the historical-biblical connection
between the People of Israel and these tracts of land. In parallel,
certain elements among the Left, backed by significant economic
resources and representing mostly foreign interests, have begun to
exert pressure in the media and with public relations efforts, on
political agents in Israel and the United States in an attempt to
promote a political process whose objective is the division of the
Land and the establishment of a terror state in Israel's heartland".

"At this time our role, as lovers of the Land of Israel and the
settlement enterprise, is to prevent the reawakened efforts of the
Left to weaken the nationalist leadership in Israel. We regard  with
great admiration those ministers and members of Knesset, who number
not a few, who promote, each according to his ability and in his own
sphere of influence, the vision of sovereignty and application of
Israeli law over Judea and Samaria. But their activities face
aggressive propaganda by elements that have not yet been disillusioned
by the Oslo disaster and similar failed steps. Our role is to stand
strong by these politicians' side and to provide them with public
backing.

This is the reason that we are embarking on a renewed campaign,
calling on the general public to join the movement to exert the
necessary public, grass-roots pressure in order to move the steering
wheel of the ship of the State of Israel away from the icebergs of
Oslo. Only with such public pressure can the process of sovereignty,
which we began a few years ago, arrive to its realization and
completion".

The heads of the movement also wish to express their support for the
efforts of the heads of local authorities in Judea and Samaria who are
acting toward the promotion and renewal of building in these areas,
but emphasize that the larger, comprehensive answer, which also
includes the solution to the matter of building, is the application
and realization of Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria. "Building
is not enough, there must be a solution that is deep, true,
ideological and Zionist. There must be sovereignty!".

Katsover and Matar invite the general public to get the latest
information about the various activities and details of the campaign
at the Sovereignty Internet Site (ribonut.co.il), which was
established in recent months and presents articles, reports, updates
and more, in Hebrew and English, in the spirit of promoting the vision
of sovereignty.

If you keep up with politics, you've probably heard the story about Attorney General Jeff Sessions offering to resign if President Trump is upset with him over the DOJ's legal defense of his temporary ban on immigration from six terrorism-plagued nations (I know that description's not as pithy as saying "Muslim ban," but it has the slight advantage of being accurate.) So why didn't I comment on it sooner?

Well, let's see: Comes from an unnamed source. It could only be known for sure by Sessions and Trump themselves, neither of whom would leak it to ABC. And the major corroborating evidence for the unsourced story is that when pressed by reporters on whether Trump has full confidence in Sessions, spokesman Sean Spicer wouldn't comment. Pressed harder, he said he hadn't spoken to Trump about it, and he tends not to comment on things when he hasn't talked to the source. I guess that means he can give up any hopes of ever becoming a political journalist after he leaves the White House.

A Story You Never Heard Of

All of a sudden, the news site Circa.com is breaking major stories that the mainstream media are too busy chasing every anti-Trump rumor to notice, and Circa actually tells us their sources. In the latest case, their named source is former UN intelligence contractor Dennis Montgomery, who claims to have walked away with more secret NSA and CIA files than Edward Snowden: a total of about 600 million classified documents on 47 hard drives. But unlike Snowden, Montgomery returned the hard drives after being granted limited immunity in 2015. He claims he did it to provide the FBI with evidence he discovered of a secret program of widespread spying on American citizens, including the illegal unmasking of the identities of over 20 million citizens, along with their credit records, emails, phone conversations and Internet traffic. He claims that the victims of the illegal spying ranged from judges to businessmen to now-President Donald Trump. But hold on: it gets worse.

Montgomery said he returned the hard drives on a promise that the FBI would conduct a full investigation into the massive illegal and unconstitutional surveillance program that Montgomery discovered. Instead, he claims that then-FBI Director James Comey ordered the evidence buried. That could be because, according to Montgomery, all this illegal domestic surveillance by the CIA was being conducted on supercomputers supplied by the FBI. Among the defendants named in his lawsuit are Comey, NSA Director Mike Rogers, former CIA Director John Brennan and former President Barack Obama.

So do you think anyone will bring this up when Comey testifies to Congress today? And if so, what are the odds that all the TV networks that cleared their schedules hoping he'd say anything incriminating against Trump will suddenly cut away to an urgent cat food commercial?

Shell Games

There are roughly 23,000 terrorist suspects being monitored in the UK, 400 of whom actually went to fight in Syria and came back, and about half of those 400 are in London.  During a TV appearance with Piers Morgan, London Mayor Sadiq Khan was pressed on why the police didn't know where each of them was.  Khan tried to shift blame to government budget cuts, declaring, "I can't follow 400 people."  He said the government had to "prioritize in a sensible, savvy way."  Morgan asked what could possibly be a higher priority than protecting British citizens from known terrorists who had actually fought with ISIS in Syria, possibly against UK troops?  But the more important question is, "Why were they allowed back into the UK in the first place?" 

Mayor Khan attempted to sidestep the question with one of the open borders advocates' favorite dodges: pointing out that the most recent terrorist attackers weren't direct from foreign battlefields, but were "integrated into our way of life."  Well, no: they weren't.  One of them couldn't have made his refusal to integrate into the British way of life any clearer: he actually paraded his violent rejection of Western values on a TV documentary called "The Jihadis Next Door." 

This particular rationalization ("These jihadists weren't outsiders, they were homegrown!") is part of a well-worn shell game.  There are several suicidally stupid policies pushed by the open borders left, and whenever the results of their policies are attacked, they point at the particular dumb policy that doesn't apply to prove they're not to blame without mentioning all the dumb policies that did contribute. 

Examples: they couldn't claim the recent London Bridge attackers were British-born because one was born in Pakistan.  So they split hairs and saif they didn't just come straight from the battlefields of Syria.  In the Manchester attack, they pointed out that the bomber himself wasn't a refugee (but his parents were, which illustrates how their refusal to demand immigrants assimilate can keep multiple generations isolated and hostile to modern British society.)  They say, "We don't have the budget to keep up with so many known terrorist sympathizers in our midst." But why are there so many? Because they refuse to deport them or block their entry.  They allow radical Islamists to preach hatred and violence in the name of free speech, then try to prosecute anyone who speaks up to criticize it.  

Attack after attack, tragedy after tragedy, Europe's liberal leaders always try to weasel out of responsibility by pointing to whichever stupid policy of theirs wasn't the direct cause of that specific attack while ignoring all the others that worked together to create the whole dangerous situation.  But the public is finally beginning to realize that it doesn't matter whether the latest murderous extremist is an immigrant, the offspring of a refugee, or a tenth-generation Brit who got radicalized by people who were allowed to preach violent jihad without any monitoring or consequences.  Bombs, knives and runaway vehicles don't care which kind of radical loon is controlling them; the tragic result is the same.  And it all got rolling with dumb government policies that put political correctness ahead of national security and public safety.

It's 2017 and Republicans control the White House, the Senate, the House and more statewide offices than you can shake a big bundle of fake news papers at. And, potentially soon, a Supreme Court that takes its guidelines from the Constitution not Das Kapital and the National Social Justice Party. Here's the bad news, Republicans are still Republicans. The media throws some chum in the water and sits back and watches the bloody fun as Republicans go after Republicans for the entertainment of their enemies. Scandals are manufactured and then strategically aimed to divide and conquer Republicans. But the real target is the conservative agenda. At the heart of the controversy over all these manufactured fake news scandals are two vital questions. 1. Was the last presidential election legitimate? 2. Should anyone to the right of the left be able to govern? The left has answered "No" to both questions. The first question was answered in the negative because the second answer was "Never". Republicans have varied reactions to Trump. Leftists have only one reaction to anyone to the right of them. It's the same reaction you get if you send an ISIS member into Temple Beth Shalom. If President Kasich were in the White House, you would be reading in the Washington Post how he singlehandedly brought back the Klan, causes Bursitis and is secretly doing the bidding of the Brazilians. It's a swamp of innuendo based on anonymous sources, investigations fed by illegal eavesdropping, scandals in which the outrage comes before the evidence whose purpose is to overturn an election. These aren't investigations. They're a coup by the losing side that refuses to admit it lost a presidential election. The coup isn't just aimed at President Trump or any single member of his administration. It's aimed at America, at democracy and at any policy to the right of free entitlements and no freedoms. If you believe in free speech, the right to keep what you earn, freedom of conscience, free elections, a free press, rule of the people by the people, Plymouth Rock, a little piece of paper out of Independence Hall, emancipation, reason, art, literature, history and civil rights, the coup is aimed at you. The three things that Republicans don't get, in order of descending importance, are that the left hates anyone to the right, that it wants absolute power and that it will do anything to destroy its enemies. Yes, the left really hates you. It doesn't care that you're socially liberal and fiscally conservative or the other way around. It doesn't care if you agree with it on 99.9% of the issues. It will still hang you from a lamppost in Portland or Berkeley because of that 0.1%. If you doubt that, look at how many Communists survived Stalin and Mao. Or how Joe Lieberman went from the vice presidential nominee to a right-wing extremist because he believed that terrorism was a bad thing or how Joe Manchin is an honorary Republican because he does controversial things like vote to approve a president's cabinet nominees. There's no room in the Democrat Party for democrats. There sure as hell isn't any for Republicans. The left is obsessed with political purity. It wants absolute power. There is no room in there for compromise. Either you are with them or you are the enemy. And fair game for anything. There are two things at stake here. A conservative political agenda and free elections. Any complicity with the coup undermines both. If the results of a presidential election can be retroactively annulled by powerful political interests in the establishment and the media, we lose free elections. People stop voting. Many of those people will be conservatives, independents or otherwise to the right of the left. No conservative agenda will ever be passed without conservative solidarity. Until the left gets the message that it will never overturn the results of this last election, it will keep trying. Conservatives can squash this fascist fantasy only by making it clear that there will never be an impeachment and that they will respond to investigations the way that Rep. Elijah Cummings did to the investigation of Benghazi. The leftist faction lecturing Republicans about decency, national security and the rule of laws punches political opponents in the face, creates back channels to Islamic terrorists in Iran, smuggles billions to fund their terror, and sends the IRS after political opponents. Is their moral authority worth anything? Republicans can follow the rules and eat their own. And then maybe when they've hung each other to show what noble souls they are, the media will recognize their goodness. It's never worked before. But there's always a last time. Just ask the last man through the gulag gates.
