Absolutely amazing lecture.  It's an hour.  It's worth listening to the entire youtube but if you have just a few minutes tune in at 20:00 when Rabbi Richter connected the snowstorm which brought Jerusalem and many parts of the country under siege, one week ago today, on the 10th day of Tevet, with the arrival of Kerry.  Trust me you will find the time to listen to the rest.

The Hebrew word Kar, found in Kerry, in Hebrew, means cold, Kerry also means happenstance. The Selichot said on that day on Asara B'Tevet  references the Hebrew word Kerry in a refrain said around 20x, is clearly no coincidence.  Neither is the Haftorah from Isaiah that was read which mentions snow and the Dav Yomi Yoma 35 read the same day of the snowstorm  which talks about Hillel buried under snow in the month of Tevet thousands of years ago.  Rabbi Richter points out that they were studying till 5am in the morning on a Friday night.  He asks, "Why were they up all night when Shabbat began early like 4pm?  He concludes that obviously they were snowed in just like we were, thousands of years ago. "  Rabbi Richter relates snow to Amalek to forgetting. Amalek causes us to forget Hashem and to cool our passion for Hashem and for His commandments.
At the end of Parshas Ki Teitzei, the Torah(Devarim 25:17-19) states "zachor es asher asah lecha amalek… asher karcha (who cooled you off) baderech.  Notice the word Karcha from Kar.

Rabbi Richter points out that Asara BeTevet is the only fast, which if it would fall on Shabbat, we would be required to fast.  No so on Tisha Baav or any other fast.  The reason being that this was the beginning of a 3 year siege.  If one nips it in the bud and is able to catch someone before the actually fall, one can prevent the destruction fro happening.  Once the destruction already happened, there is not much one can do.  That is why one desecrates the Shabbat for Asara BeTevet because there is still the opportunity to make a difference to prevent a holocaust Chas vechalila.  A wakeup call from Hashem!

Rabbi Richter mentions Rabbi Yaakov Addas, a Kabbalist who was asked how come G-d brought the snowstorm.  Rabbi Addas replied that the  "snow siege" of Jerusalem is God's direct response to the recent jailing of yeshiva students who refused to accept draft orders to report for duty in the IDF.

While I had read about this statement by the Kabbalist, and perhaps was not surprised that there were Chareidi Rabbanim who clearly felt this way, I was surprised to hear this from Rabbi Yehuda Richter from Kfar Tapuach who clearly seems to come from the Nationalist Camp.  Apparently Rabbi Richter seems to agree that unfortunately the motive of the government to draft these Chareidi soldiers is not in order to protect the country but rather to lower the high moral and religious standard that they have.

It seems to me that the Chareidim should not be exempt from serving in the Israeli army because one is required to go to War to fight non-Jews in order to protect the Land even on Shabbat.  It seems very clear to me that Torah Scholars whose training is in "Vehaya Machanecha Kadosh", and your camp shall be H-ly, whose source is Devarim 23:14-15, will surely  be the very best soldiers Israel has to offer.  Of course, the religious needs of the Israeli soldiers must not be compromised because of the Mitzvah "Vehaya Machanecha Kadosh" which is referring to a military camp. The only thing stopping more Chareidim from joining the Israeli army is the Army's dogmatic refusal to accommodate the Chareidim's religious needs. Why for example do they insist that they attend army events with female vocalists?

If the Torah did not want Jewish men to fight than why do we have Mitzvoth related to the Jewish Soldier?  Why are the men counted according to the ones who go into the army if going into the army was forbidden from the Torah? Why did Moshe Rabbeinu rebuke Shevet Gad and and half of Shevet Menasheh saying "Will you stay here and your brothers go to fight?" And why in Shirat Devorah, did the prophetess rebuke those Tribes who did not do their share in fighting?

Please read AFSI's post AFSI; Kick Kerry Out of the Country Along with Caroline Glick's powerful analysis of Kerry visiting during Israel's brutal snowstorm true to form speaking the honest truth published in the Jerusalem Post.   http://shemittahrediscovered.blogspot.com/2013/12/fwd-afsi-kick-kerry-out-of-country.html

As it says in the Selichot of Asara BeTevet, either we choose to go with Hashem our Rock, or we go with Kerry, Heaven forbid!

Time to give Kerry the Cold Shoulder and recognize Hashem's wakeup call to speak out and support Judea and Samaria.

This brings me to 2 very simple ways to do this in America!  In Israel people accomplish this with their heart and soul and very beings. In Diaspora we can  do this with our pocketbooks and with forwarding these kind of emails to raise awareness and funds.

It is now the end of December and we are all looking for charities before the end of the American fiscal year. Allow me to make some excellent suggestions. I specifically chose these 2  because it is the best response to Kerry's initiatives.

Dear Friends ,

It is winter, but spring is not far off.  We stand between Chanukah and Tu b'Shvat.  Chanukah marks the miracle of the Maccabee's military victory over the much stronger Greek-Syrian army resulting in Jewish sovereignty over the Land of Israel.  Tu b'Shvat represents the miracle of the annual rebirth of nature and the day on which we Jews mark our connection to Eretz Yisrael by planting trees.

Inspired by the spirit of the Maccabees, Women in Green, through both faith and action, defend and safeguard the Land of Israel.  And as on Tu b'Shvat Women in Green plant trees and vines…in Netzer, Shdema, Eitam and elsewhere to redeem and safeguard public lands in Judea.  Together these two days on the Hebrew calendar symbolize the essence of Women in Green… dedication to our G-d-given Biblical homeland, Eretz Yisrael, and the Jewish People.

Women in Green's activities, reflecting the values of our founders Ruth and Michael Matar, are far too numerous to mention in a brief email letter.  Here are but some highlights of the ongoing work and accomplishments of our members, men, women and youth:

·       Sovereignty Campaign - To date Women in Green has produced three successful national conferences and has begun to publish Sovereignty, a new political journal in Hebrew and English with distribution to tens of thousands in Israel and abroad. This campaign is already having a positive influence upon the general public.  As a result of Women in Green's efforts more and more people are learning that there is an alternative to the dangerous "two-state solution." Issue 1 of Sovereignty is available online on our website. Issue 2 will be published, please G-d, in the coming days.

·       Shdema - is the return of a Jewish presence to a former Israel army base, between Jerusalem and eastern Gush Etzion, including the partial refurbishment of a cultural center that has become the site for popular weekly lectures on Eretz Yisrael and other programs.

·       Netzer - is the site of many hundreds of olive trees and grape vines planted by Women in Green on public Jewish land in Judea in order to avert Arab agricultural squatting.

·       Eitam - Years of constant activity by Women in Green and the Committee for the Development of Eitam on Efrat's largest and northernmost hill has guaranteed that Eitam has remained in Jewish hands and, G-d willing, is now being developed.

·       Amos Junction (formerly T-Junction) - A daily vigil by Women in Green together with the residents of eastern Gush Etzion following a recent Arab terrorist attack,  resulted in increased security  at the junction.

·       Tisha b'Av March - around the Old City of Jerusalem's walls in which many thousands  participate every year over the past two decades.

·       Agricultural Camps for Youth - during the summer and over school breaks, including on-site cultivation and irrigation work, tree planting and educational lectures helps connect Israeli youth to their land and their heritage.

·       Website - brings uplifting and relevant news, photos and video clips about work being carried out by Women and Green on behalf of the Land of Israel.   Plans are in the works for a separate website to accompany the Sovereignty journal and campaign

Naturally, all of these activities cost money , even though we are blessed with highly dedicated volunteers whose activity helps defray expenses.

Women in Green is mindful and appreciative of your past support and asks that you continue by making a monetary gift now and benefiting from an end-of-the- yearFederal tax deduction.  Your gift, which  will help support the many educational and cultural programs above, makes you a true partner in everything we do.

We remind you that Women in Green is supported solely by private contributions.

AFSI declares: Kick Kerry Out of the Country

The suffering of Israelis who have lived through this once-in-a-hundred- years snowstorm is such that we are compelled to do everything in our power to assuage.
We  have heard from our friends in Israel that they have been without water, electricity, have had the roofs of buildings cave in, have had to abandon their cars, have been unable to get to hospitals, and more and more and more. In the midst of all of this, John Kerry, America's Secretary of State, arrived in Israel to present his "peace" plan.
Just as he ignored the storm and the suffering of Israel's citizens, so he ignores the reality of what can be accomplished when dealing with an entity that refuses to recognize Israel's right to exist. Is it possible to stand before someone, with all physical matter intact, and be told that you don't exist? Is it possible for someone to land in an airport, Ben Gurion, travel along paved roads, arrive at an hotel or parliamentary building in Jerusalem, Israel's capital city, and to accept the fact that the "partner for peace" that Kerry is promoting refuses to recognize Israel's existence?
Diplomats feel compelled to continue speaking in deceptive and misleading languages; however, we feel no compunction to hold any punches. We say, KICK KERRY OUT OF ISRAEL. His Obaminable plans for Israel's destruction are totally unacceptable and don't deserve to be heard. See Caroline Glick's article below:

Kerry forces Israel's moment of decision
Caroline Glick
There was a ghoulish creepiness to US Secretary of State John Kerry's visit to Israel last week. Here we were, beset by the greatest winter storm in a hundred years. All roads to Jerusalem were sealed off. Tens of thousands of Jerusalemites and residents of surrounding areas were locked down in their houses, without power, heat, telephone service or water.

And all of the sudden, out of nowhere, Kerry appeared. As Hamas-ruled Gazans begged the supposedly hated IDF to come and save them from the floods, and as Israel took over rescue operations for stranded Palestinians living under the rule of the PLO 's gangster kleptocracy in Judea and Samaria, here was Kerry, telling us that we'd better accept the deal he plans to present us next month, or face the wrath of the US and Europe, and suffer another Palestinian terror war.

What is going on? Why can't Kerry leave Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and the rest of the country alone, even for a week, in the middle of a blizzard of biblical proportions? According to leaks from the now five month old negotiations, after 20 rounds of talks, the Palestinians have not budged from the positions they have held to for the past 50 years. They do not accept Israel's right to exist. They do not recognize the existence of the Jewish people. They do not believe that the Jews have the right to freedom or self-determination. They insist on taking control of our 3,000 year old capital. They demand that we surrender our ability to defend ourselves from foreign aggression and Palestinian attacks and infiltration from the east.

There is nothing new here, of course, This was the case 13 years ago at the Camp David summit. This was the case during the Annapolis summit in 2007 and 2008. This was the case when PLO chief Mahmoud Abbas rejected then prime minister Ehud Olmert's offer of peace in 2008.

Facing the Palestinians' continued defiance of the very notion of peaceful coexistence with Israel, Kerry is planning to present his own peace deal next month and try to force Israel to accept it. Although the text of Kerry's deal has not yet been revealed, we know exactly what it will involve just by listening to what he has already told us.

In his speech at the Saban Forum on December 7, Kerry said, "For many years the broad contours of an eventual solution have been absolutely clear, and they were crystallized for the world in December of 2000 when president Clinton laid down the parameters for a final-status agreement. They were reaffirmed through the Annapolis process during the Bush administration."

The Clinton parameters involved a near complete American embrace of the PLO 's maximalist demands. The Annapolis guidelines went even further in the PLO 's direction.

And now, Kerry intends to put forth his own parameters that will be even more forthcoming to the PLO than either the Clinton or Bush administrations were.

Like the Clinton and Bush plans, the Kerry parameters will involve Israeli surrender of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount to the PLO , which rejects the historical fact that two Jewish temples were built at the site that was and remains the cradle of Jewish civilization and history and holiest site to Judaism.

They will involve the mass expulsion of hundreds of thousands of Jews from their homes in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria to make room for an anti-Semitic, Jew-free state that maintains its devotion to the destruction of the rump Jewish state.

Kerry's framework deal will involve the mass immigration of hundreds of thousands of foreign-born Arabs, who have been living in al-Qaida-, Hamas- and PLO -controlled UN-run "refugee camps," for the past four generations to the new state of "Palestine."

Kerry's plan will require Israeli society to destroy its cohesion through the dismemberment and destruction of hundreds of Jewish communities. As occurred before the Gaza withdrawal, it will require the government to oversee the demonization and criminalization of well over three million law abiding, patriotic Israeli citizens who oppose the mass expulsions.

Kerry's parameters will require Israel to surrender its ability to defend itself against foreign aggression and Palestinian attacks. As for the Palestinians, implementation of the Kerry parameters will guarantee that all moderate elements in their society, including among Israeli Arabs, will be overwhelmed and destroyed. The PLO state in Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem, like the Hamas state in Gaza, will be breeding grounds for global jihadists. They will actively incite, organize and oversee an armed insurrection of the Arabs of the Galilee and the Negev, meting out punishment for all dissenters.

As for the US forces that Kerry proposes deploying to the Jew-free PLO state, they will be targeted by the Palestinians, just as the Palestinians and the Syrians attacked US Marines in Beirut 30 years ago. And like the Marines in Beirut, they will be withdrawn in humiliation and defeat, but the lesson - that the Arabs perceive the Americans and Jews as enemies of equal weight - will not be learned. And, at any rate, unable to defend itself after agreeing to Kerry's parameters, Israel will cease to be a strategic ally and be transformed into a strategic basket case. Its destruction will interest Kerry and his supporters just as much as the destruction of South Vietnam interested them in 1975.

Aside from being a more anti-Israel version of the Clinton parameters and Bush's framework, Kerry's parameters, and framework deal, have one other unique and particularly dangerous feature. Until now, US peace plans followed former prime minister Ehud Barak's dictum that "nothing is agreed to until everything is agreed to."

That is, no hypothetical Israeli concession on Jerusalem, for instance, will be binding unless a final deal is concluded.

Kerry indicated at the Saban Forum that his goal is to coerce Israel into making irrevocable concessions up front, before the Palestinians agree to peaceful coexistence.

As he put it, "A basic framework will have to address all the core issues - borders, security, refugees, Jerusalem, mutual recognition, and an end of claims. And it will have to establish agreed guidelines for subsequent negotiations that will fill out the details in a full-on peace treaty."

For the past five and a half years, Netanyahu's strategy for dealing with US President Barack Obama has been to try to survive him. He's withstood Obama's constant demand for Israeli national suicide for "peace" by giving the bare minimum of revocable concession possible to keep Obama at bay.

But with Kerry poised to shove his lethal parameters down our throats, parameters that will require Israel to irrevocably accept terms of peace that will destroy the country, it is obvious that Netanyahu needs to adopt a longer-term strategy. Our goal cannot be limited to waiting out Obama. Our goal must be to extricate Israel from the two-state trap.

Yes, Israel will pay a huge price for jumping ship. For 20 years, non-leftist Israeli leaders have been trying to go along to get along with the Left, and the Americans and their ever-escalating demands. But Kerry's obsessive harping, and his insistence on pushing forward with his disastrous framework deal forces our hand.

Either we pay a huge price now, or accept our destruction within five to 15 years.

Kerry: Israel's Security 'Top Priority'
US Secretary of State seeks to calm Israeli concerns over Iran deal, negotiations with the PA, in latest visit to Israel.

Caroline Glick's response
http://www.jpost.com/Opinion/Columnists/Column-One-The-politics-of-subversion-334125
...Unfortunately, Israel cannot trust the US. Kerry and the Obama administration as a whole lost all credibility when they negotiated the deal with Iran last month.

After spending five years promising they had Israel's back only to stab Israel in the back in relation to the most acute threat facing the Jewish state, nothing Kerry or US President Barack Obama says in relation to their commitment to Israel's security can be trusted. The fact that Kerry had the nerve to show up here with "security guarantees" regarding the Palestinians two weeks after he agreed to effectively unravel the sanctions regime against Iran in exchange for no concrete Iranian concessions on its nuclear arms program shows that he holds Israel in contempt...The real problem with the notion of an Israeli withdrawal to indefensible borders is that those indefensible borders will be insecure. Both the PLO and Hamas remain committed to Israel's destruction. They will never agree to Israel's continued existence in any borders. So the whole peace process is doomed. Kerry's attempt to dictate security arrangements is a waste of time.....The fact that the likes of Olmert, Livni, Diskin and Herzog and their followers are not at the forefront pressuring the Palestinians to change their ways and demanding that the Obama administration demonstrate its trustworthiness, but rather have directed all their energies to attacking the government, indicates that peace with the Palestinians is not their primary concern....Rather it would appear that their main concern is their personal power and prestige.....''

So Kerry gets his way and an Agreement with Iran is actualized.  What did the world achieve?

BACKGROUND:

Kerry remained adamant that if Congress ups the sanctions, it will push away Iranians from the negotiating table "Our hope is that no new sanctions would be put in place for the simple reason that, if they are, it could be viewed as bad faith by the people we are negotiating with," "It could destroy the ability to be able to get agreement," he added, "and it could actually wind up setting us back in dialogue that's taken 30 years to achieve." ''You have to ignore what they're telling you, stop listening to the Israelis on this.' (Kerry)

From Mattot Arim:

Kerry denounced Israel 5 times. De-legitimization or violence against Israel were not denounced -- Israel was  denounced:
1 "Palestinian leadership believe the settlements are illegal, they object to the settlements, do not think you should be doing settlements. We, the United States, say the same thing."
2 "We do not believe the settlements are legitimate. We think they're illegitimate. " 3 "the entire peace process would, in fact, be easier if these settlements were not taking place. Now, that's our position."
4. "The Palestinians profoundly object to it. The international community objects to it. The United States policy has always been that the settlements are illegitimate."
5. "We believe this process would be much easier if we didn't have the tension that is created by settlements."
