A Second Gush Katif? article by Dovid Hoffman of Yated, Bibi Willing to Cede Judea and Samaria? Arutz7 Action alelrts

bs"d

Thank you to all the Media that have been reporting re: the looming cloud over the settlements slated for destruction  similar to Gush Katif and Amona chas Veshalom.  You can truly say that you are working to prevent their future pain.  May Hashem reward you with Bracha and Hatzlacha and Parnossa because you care about the livelihood and properties of our fellow Jews in Judea and samaria, you are standing up for the Torah and ultimately will bring strength to fight Radical Islam in america as well.

recent articles that I have personally seen describing what happened in Gush Katif and the current battles to prevent destruction of additional homes and communities in Judea and Samaria  have appeared in Jewish Voice, 5 Towns Jewish Times, Yated (see  article link below),  and Jewish Press. and of Course Arutz 7 the preferred paper in Israel for Judea and Samaria.

A Second Gush Katif by Dovid Hoffman of Yated.com

WHAT WE CAN DO IN CHUTZ Le Aretz
  • encourage friends in Israel to VOTE Likud Primary (only if you are a Likud Member) for FEIGLIN, not Netanyahu - Tue.
    • Mattot Arim Good list for Likud MK's based on past voting records. see below after Arlene Kushners article

  • Lobby the MK's ,  we can do this in the Diaspora as well regarding Outpost Legalization bill,   taking place on Wednesday.  The above links from Yated and A7 will encourage you to act.  See below for instructions from Arlene Kushner
.
Arlene Kushner writes:
You've heard about this legislation from me previously:  Proposed by MK Zevulun Orlev (Habayit Hayehudi), it would forbid the dismantling of communities of more than 20 families in Judea and Samaria without properly filed documentation that the land was Arab-owned.  This would negate the vague, unsubstantiated claims of land being "Arab" that are currently filed in court by Peace Now.

What is more, this legislation stipulates that if the documentation of Arab ownership is filed after a specified period of time (four years, as I understand it), the community still wouldn't be taken down and instead the Arab land owner would be provided with monetary compensation.

~~~~~~~~~~
Prime Minister Netanyahu -- at the behest of Minister Benny Begin, who is attempting to negotiate a "deal" with the residents of Migron and wants them to feel squeezed -- has secured a negative vote on this legislation in the Ministerial Committee for Legislation. Nothing prevents the promoters of a piece of legislation from bringing it to the Knesset without the approval of the  committee -- it is simply that without this endorsement it is less likely to pass in the Knesset.
An appeal has been filed -- requesting a re-vote in the committee -- by Minister of Diaspora Affairs Yuli Edelstein (Likud) and Minister of Science Daniel Hershkowitz (Habayit Hayehudi) -- but there has been no response to this.  There is reason to believe the original vote would overturned if there were a second vote.
~~~~~~~~~~

Now MK Oren has decided to bring this proposed law before the Knesset -- possibly by Wednesday.

And  here's where you have to pay attention to understand the situation and its serious implications:

Coalition discipline will not be invoked, so that members of the Knesset will be free to follow their conscience on this important matter rather than having to vote a party line.

HOWEVER, since the Ministerial Committee voted against the legislation, ministers are expected to also vote against it in the Knesset.  They can, if they choose, vote for the legislation, but then, according to the rules, Netanyahu can fire them.  He is not obligated to fire them, he is simply at liberty to do so.

Needless to say, Netanyahu is applying pressure, and making noises about firing those who do not toe the line.

~~~~~~~~~~
This has an unpleasant echo of Gush Katif, when then PM Sharon applied every sort of strong-arm technique possible to keep his ministers in line so they'd vote as he wished.  We cannot let this happen again.  Sharon betrayed his mandate when he behaved this way, and Netanyahu is now playing matters in a similar fashion.  I've cut him slack with regard to many issues.  But I cut him none here.
~~~~~~~~~~

In my last posting, I asked you to write to the Likud ministers in support of Migron.  Now I ask you to write again, to these ministers and those of Shas and Yisrael Beitenu as well:

Say that you understand that legislation that would save Migron and other communities in Judea and Samaria is about to come before the Knesset.  It would release Israel from the strangle-hold of Peace Now and prevent Jewish communities from being destroyed.

Remind them that the mandate given to the coalition by the voters was nationalist and that they would be betraying this mandate if they voted against this legislation.

Tell them that, even more importantly, if they vote against it they would be taking a position that is not in the best interests of the State of Israel.

Let them know that you see it as imperative that they vote their conscience on this matter.  It is not acceptable for them to place job security ahead of what is best for Israel.  In any event there is no guarantee that the prime minister will fire any ministers, and less likely if many ministers stand together to do what is right.

Voters and those who support the parties are very tired of political game playing.  The ministers must know that they are being watched and that support in the future will depend on their readiness to do the right thing now.

~~~~~~~~~~
 Do NOT send a group message; the message to each minister should be separate.  But there is no reason to be intimidated by the fact that there are several names on the list that follows.
There is a way to make it easy for yourself:  Compose a message that says "Dear Minister," followed by text of that message.  Copy that message and salutation.  Then, in turn, click on each minister's e-mail address, paste in the greeting and message, and hit send.
Thank you.  More will follow tomorrow.
In closing, a note of clarification, very broadly, for those who are outside of Israel and perhaps confused by our system:  Parties receive mandates (seats) in the Knesset according to the percentage of votes they secured in the previous election. If one party does not have sufficient seats (i.e., more than 60) to constitute a majority of the Knesset, then a coalition is formed; this always happens.  Once the coalition is in place, there are ministerial positions allocated to the various parties in the coalition.  With very rare exceptions, the ministers are chosen from the ranks of those within the parties who have been elected to the Knesset.  Those who are ministers sit in the Cabinet and constitute the government, but they are still members of the Knesset.
From MattotArim: Important info if you can vote for Likud primary:
Hope you got our previous email on Likud voting tomorrow,  here it is for you to re-read:
http://mattotarim1.blogspot.com/2012/01/tuesdayimportant-likud-elections.html
Updates: Apart from the important Feiglin-Netanyahu contest, we now -- with everybody's help -- have assembled the names of many more "good guys" -- candidates who are FOR Yehuda and Shomron and against Palestinian state!  These "good guy" candidates are listed in these 4 links:
New "good guys:   http://mattotarim1.blogspot.com/2012/01/blog-post_644.html
Good guys dating back to Gush Katif   struggle http://mattotarim1.blogspot.com/2012/01/blog-post_30.html
Special "good guys" list for Haifa  http://mattotarim1.blogspot.com/2012/01/blog-post_9989.html
Last minute list of "good guys" whom we just heard about  http://mattotarim1.blogspot.com/2012/01/blog-post_984.html
To vote beneficially, simply click on and go through the above 4 lists, and look for candidates in YOUR city or branch. Lists are alphabetical - Ashdod comes first (aleph), Tel-Aviv (taf) comes last.  Copy down all the good guys in YOUR city/community, from all 4 lists. There is some duplication between the lists -- sorry about that.
Put that "good guys" list in your pocket or purse, since it is no-one's business but your own, and when you get into the voting booth, quietly take out your "good guys" list, and mark whatever "good guys" you find, on EACH of the 2 voting slips that you get. One of those slips will be for the all-important  "central committee members" and one is for "moetzet ha-snif". There will be many names on each of the 2 voting slips -- you mark only the "good guys" among them!
PS. These "good guy" elections are not being held everywhere (for example -- NO "good guy" elections in Rehovot and in most places in Yehuda & Shomron), but in many other places, such as Jerusalem, Netanya, Petah Tikva, Raanana and Tel-Aviv: http://mattotarim1.blogspot.com/2012/01/blog-post_27.html  there WILL be such elections.
If you live in Yehuda and Shomron, simply mark the candidates you know personally. We have not listed any particular "good guy" residents of Yehuda and Shomron because we figure ALL of them are "good guys"!
List of voting locations  in each city/community (a little messy -- but that is what we could get):  http://mattotarim1.blogspot.com/2012/01/blog-post_2940.html
Can you please pass this email on to other Likud voters who may not know what to do?
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO VOTE TOMORROW -- RAIN OR SHINE! YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU! Thank you!
"Pushing Back, Pushing Forward"
There's a good deal happening, and much to respond to.  Please read this through and act.  I like to think of my readers as also actors in the important fights we are fighting  -- against some things, for others.  Your assistance does make a difference.
~~~~~~~~~~

I begin with a link to my latest article on Front Page Magazine, "Answering Obama's Israel Lies."

It exposes the distortions and half-truths that have been put out in a campaign video purporting to show what a good friend to Israel Obama is.  Please, circulate broadly.

Here's the link to the original video, in case you haven't seen it.  It's making the rounds big time and must be responded to in a serious fashion, for it's so easy to be taken in if you don't know the facts.  When you DO know the facts, the response to this is some combination of rage and deep disgust.

Vote Feiglin! Voting for a White Paper against Netanyahu is a wasted virtual vote

bs"d

Dear Ohavei Eretz Yisroel, amv"sh

Another Megilla from Robin.....

Re: Vote for Chairman of Likud Party this coming Tuesday -

Netanyahu vs Feiglin vs an empty ballot?!?!

You tell me.  Can an empty ballot lead a country?

When I first read about voting a blank instead of voting for a real person as a protest vote against Netanyahu, I immediately thought it was a plan devised by Netanyahu's team as damage control for the Likud party being disenchanted with Netanyahu.

In the real world, Netanyahu has to get the message loud and clear and that can only be accomplished with a vote for Feiglin.  BTW Netanyahu deserves a bit of embarrassment still from the last election where he bumped Moshe Feiglin down to the 38th place for some ridiculous clause in the law  which never made any sense to me. Don't underestimate his ingenuity in devising a scheme that will bring Feiglin down once again.  Personally I like when Jewish  leaders play fair and square with integrity.  It is no embarrassment to lose. It's cheap to cheat or bully. Am I naive to go  by the saying "it's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game". .  All these shenanigans really turn me off.

So urge your friends who are disgusted with the destruction of Settlers homes in Judea and Samaria and the way it was done by Arabs in the middle of the freezing night to little kids.  Don't underestimate the trauma experienced in Mitzpe Avichai, Mitzpe Assaf, Migron, Givat Aryeh, Yissa Bracha etc. So vote against Netanyahu and vote for Feiglin.

In my next email, I will forward Arlene Kushner latest post whereby she asks all voters to email the Knesset ministers to vote with their conscience on Wednesday for the Outposts at the risk of getting fired.  Look, having free time on your hand can have its advantages.  In Israel nobody starves.

Voters will remember MK's that truly represented them and reward them in the future, while those MKs who are intimidated from voting their conscience will be perceived as weak and easily swayed by threats or bribes.  The public will lose trust in their ability to lead independently and with good conscience.  They will be put on Mattot Arim's bad list. I would not start up with Susie Dym.  Most importantly, the MK's who vote with their conscience will feel good about themselves.

Partial Apology to Jason Maoz Senior Editor of Jewish Press - No Evidence he is Obama Supporter but the Jewish Press has put Obama in positive light with Ron Kampeas front page consistently

bs"D

Sam has left a comment on my Shemittahrediscovered blog post where I (most probably) mistakenly said that Jason Maoz was an Obama supporter.  See "Save the Date: Dinner for Gush Katif Museum -- Feb...":  this is Sam's comment:

Jason Maoz is a supporter of Obama? Please supply the evidence. I've been a regular reader of his Media Monitor columns and Jewish Press editorials (you may not know thia, but he writes the editorials) and I don't recall any such statements. But that kind of wild exaggeration is typical of your blog. You'd better hope he doesn't sue you for libel -- but then again he probably doesn't even know you exist.

============================
This is what I had written on my blog shemittahrediscovered.blogspot.com which was also sent to my list:

I was appalled to read about this very same event in Yissa Bracha, Mitzpe Yericho reported in this weeks Jewish Press Page 40 in the Week in Review under Israel/Mideast New edited by Jason Maoz.  it is painful enough to see how such disgraceful expulsions are written up in leftist newspapers like The New York Times or Haaretz. But to see it written in such a distorted leftist slant in the Jewish Press was very upsetting. Compare this news report with Arutz7 report of the same demolition.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(as reported in Jewish Press, Jan 27, 2012 page 40)
SETTLERS,OFFICERS HURT IN OUTPOST DEMOLITION

Six West Bank [what happened to Judea and Samaria? Robin] settlers and three police officers were hurt during the demolition of an illegal [who says they are illegal? not the Torah and not even Israeli law.  Robin] outpost near Jericho.

Settlers threw rocks at police when they gathered at the outpost, near Mitzpeh Jericho, to raze six dwellings.  Police responded with tear gas.  Hundreds of security personnel reportedly gathered at the outpost, as well as 200 outpost supporters. [very selective reporting, missing background info]

The police and three settlers were injured when the roof of one of the buildings collapsed as a protester was being removed. [missing details of exactly how this occured....]

At least three settlers were arrested on suspicion of assaulting police officers. [no mention of the violent way the settlers were treated....]
====================
Please join me in calling for the resignation of Jason Maoz, editor of the Jewish Press, supporter of Obama and no friend to Judea and Samaria.   Rabbi Klass would not have approved of this piece. He would not of approved of Ron Kampeas featured often on the front page of the Jewish Press either.

Dear List, amv"sh

I don't know who Sam is but when I read his angry comment I thought to myself.  Why did I write that Jason Maoz was an Obama supporter?  I need evidence  obviously.  So I quickly checked out this weeks Jewish Press and as Sam wrote I didn't see any evidence that Maoz is supportive of Obama in this issue.  Furthermore, if what Sam writes is true and that Maoz writes the editorials of the Jewish Press then he clearly is not an Obama fan.  So I thought to myself, what did I read in that Jewish Press that prompted me to write that he was an Obama supporter?  It wasn't his Media Monitor piece.

 I realized it was the Jewish Press front cover Ron Kampeas piece entitled Focus on Florida's Jewish Community as GOP Presidential Primary Approaches.  which is news of such minor importance in my opinion and serves no real purpose other than to do damage control for Obama's poor showing and publicity in the Jewish community. Please read Ruthie Blum 'It's Jewish moneystupidhttp://www.eish-l.org/s/ob55u5 and Arlene Kushner Fronpage Magazine in response to Jan. 19, U.S. President Barack Obama released a video called "America and Israel: An Unbreakable Bond."

  Even though the picture on the front page in the Jewish Press was of the Republican candidates Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich and not President Obama, the thrust of this article was featuring the Democrats, namely Obama's latest outreach to the Jewish Community.

As you all know I been been sending many  disturbing youtubes and articles about demolitions and destruction in Judea and Samaria.  The images were heartbreaking and showed  violent, cruel  treatment of Jewish settlers by Arabs contracted to throw out the Jewish familes, children and their parents between 3 and 4 am .  These stories are worthy of front page coverage in my opinion and eagerly I waited to see the Jewish papers to see if anyone took the bait. Imagine my disappointment when I realized that my emails were disregarded by the Jewish Press.  What they did report was that little news brief above on Page 40. To their credit, they did have a nice piece on Migron by Moshe Feiglin but many who read it would not really understand what Migron is facing unless they read and watch Arutz7 videos and articles firsthand unedited.

Let me set the matter straight.  I happen to really enjoy the Jewish Press. Most of the paper is entertaining, featuring strong Yesha people like Dovid Wilder of Hebron, Sarah Lehmann, Rebbetzin Jungreis, Prof. Paul Eidelberg and good editorials that perhaps are written by Jason Maoz as Sam suggested.  But when I read the Jewish Press front page, I become aggravated,  Perhaps wrongly I blamed the Senior Editor, Jason Maoz for putting Ron Kampeas and leftist JTA on the cover of the Jewish Press time and time again. Maybe that decision is not his and belongs to the publisher Jerry Greenwald or maybe someone else.   But that news item on page 40 edited by Jason Maoz made me think or assume that since positive press forJudea and Samaria is not priority for him perhaps damage control for Obama was also his choice.

 It seems to me that the Jewish Press works very hard on a balancing act on a trapeze which is hard to do without falling on your face. Clearly their desire to give the readership "balanced reporting" which they interpret as something to please everyone will please no one. Surely their front page article Focus on Florida's Jewish Community as GOP Presidential Primary Approaches.makes no one happy except perhaps the Conference of Presidents and the likes of Alan Solow a "key Obama fundraiser (my emphasis) and the immediate past president of the Conference of Presidents of the Major American Jewish Organizations" getting out Israel's pro-Obama message now in the front feature cover news of the Jewish Press..

Anyway why would Jason Maoz sue me for Libel for calling him an Obama supporter as Sam suggest? it was an honest mistake. I really meant to say that the Jewish Press seems to have a Pro Obama slant on their front page.

 Because in the Orthodox Jewish World  and especially among the Jewish Press readership, being an Obama Supporter is reason enough to want an editor to resign.  Only an Obama supporter would want to place Obama damage control on page 1. Jason Maoz perhaps is not totally responsible for whom is featured on Page 1 but he should take some responsibility as Senior Editor.
