Re: Urgent outcry needed by OU, Agudath, rabbis to stop demolition of Israeli Govt built yeshiva in Yitzar

bs"d

This email is being sent  TO: major Jewish religious Organizations, Conference of Presidents, major religious Jewish Print Media, Rabbanim, CC:d to Hesder Yeshivoth and BCC:d to my email list and blog shemittahrediscovered.blogspot.com

"WE SHARE IN THEIR PAIN" after the fact is hypocrisy when we have the chance to prevent the pain and we didn't.

Let us prevent the pain NOW before it is a reality

It  takes approximately 1 hour if that much to destroy a shul.  It can happen in the middle of the night when everyone is sleeping. This is a test to see how much Jews care about their fellow Jews in the Shomron.

Where is the outcry at the impending destruction of a shul?

Let the media report that we are begging our major Jewish Organizations, and Rabbanim  to take a public stand regarding this matter and use all their networking and databases of contacts, shuls and Rabbanim to stop this destruction in Yitzhar.  Let their readership know that there are activists out there that are very upset at the Silence of the Rabbanim and the major religious Jewish Organizations for being Silent in their brothers time in need.  We are relying on the Religious Jewish Media to report our disappointment in our Jewish Leadership and that we expect better and we know and believe that they are very capable and we know they are capable of voicing their opposition in a public way that will stop any such action.  Only an outcry and the Areivus, intervention of Am Yisroel united can stop these evil decrees.

Each and everyone of us can send an email or make a telephone call regarding this matter thereby increasing the pressures on our Leadership to take on more of a leadership role.

Subject: Will the OU ask the Israeli government to cease and desist from
demolition of a Yeshiva?

Dear Rabbi Weil, Rabbi Safran, Rabbi Weil and all other rabbinical leaders,
I believe the request below is a very important one and I do not want Yitzhar Od Yosef Chai Yeshiva  destroyed. It is achilul HaShem and it will further denigrate Jews all over the world and increase anti-semistism because Jew bashing Jews is okay for the Jews so why shouldn't it be for the enemies of the Jews. We have already suffered the increase in anti-semitism to world wide proportions because of Jews delegitimizing themselves and attacking "settlers"'.  Remember HaShem told Abraham to "settle" the land and no longer sojourn. As we are no longer wandering why has the abuser turned into the politicians in the independent nation of Israel reformed with a miracle and a blessing ?

As anti-semitism has increased to effect  Jews everywhere, we must remember the wise words of  Sir Moses Montefiore, "Whatever happens to Jews anywhere in the world effects Jews everywhere in the world." Sir Moses Montefiore intervened in the Damascus affair in 1841. Our leaders must interefere in the Yitzhar Yeshiva affair in 2010 because a possible destruction will lead to further destructions effecting every synagogue and every Jew. It will shame Bnei Yisael. It denies the roots of our Judaism. It is what happened in pogrom times. Attacking a yeshiva and not illegal Arab building even by foreign enemies even in Jerusalem is working for the goals of the enmey who wants to destroy Israel and the Jewish people everywhere.

As we scream against silence and shout "never again", it is time to focus on speaking up and getting involved in damage control today.

Let our students learn. Remember, when they knew not Yosef, Egypt enslaved the Jews. Remember Yosef. Save Yosef in the land Yaakov bought near Kever Yosef. Save Od Yosef Chai Yeshiva.

Shalom U'vracha.

"If the government of Israel would announce a decision to demolish a Reform
Temple under the pretext of a building permit violation, the leaders of the
Reform Movement - Rabbi Eric Yoffe and Rabbi David Saperstein -
would mobilize hundreds of Reform Rabbis to pressure the Israeli government to
cease and desist from any such initiative, and the Israeli government would back
off.

Yesterday, the Israeli government announced its decision to demolish the Od
Yosef Chai Yeshiva under the pretext of a building permit violation:

http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3887165,00.html

The urgent question:

Will the OU lodge a protest with the government of Israel to cease and desist
from demolition of a yeshiva (which cost it over $1,000,000), and will the OU urge its members to do so?

There is no question that the Israeli government would back off under pressure.

Shalom from Shlomo Wollins - founder of WeJew.com - the #1 Jewish video source on the Internet.

You might not have heard, but recently youtube removed an extremely popular video (over 3 million views in one week!) that was pro-Israel. The official reasoning was because of copyright infringement, but that argument does not hold up to the actual law itself.

The message, however, is loud and clear, the Jewish people and the pro-Israel community need their own video sharing site to combat the anti-semitism and anti-Israel sentiments spreading around the world online. No outside service, no matter how good, can stand up for us. We have to stand up on our own two feet to defend ourselves and not be reliant on anyone else.

We are proud to say that Wejew is the answer. Wejew is the alternative to youtube to help the Jewish people and the pro-Israel community in the online video PR battle.

Since the removal of the famous "We Con the World Video", many people have realized this as well and the traffic and video viewing on Wejew has jumped! However, so have the anti-semitic hackers who are now trying to hack our site more than ever before.

Now more than ever we need your help to cover our server costs and boost our security. Please donate now to help us defend the Jewish people and the Land of Israel in the current online media battle.

It's still not too late to apply for this coming year. Robin

Mattot Arim's Second Comparative Report on Legislators & Ministers

Mattot Arim's Second Comparative Report on Legislators & Ministers

Mattot Arim has put out its second report on the 18th Knesset, regarding the comparative level of activity of the legislators and ministers of the National Camp. Click here for the full report if you read Hebrew: http://kr8.co.il/BRPortal/br/P102.jsp?arc=69226:

If not, here are the main findings in English:

Parties:

First in order of merit was the National Union which with 71 activities on average per legislator far surpassed its rival, the Jewish Home-Mafdal which averaged 45 activities per legislator in the 9-month period covered by the report. Likud was next, with 28 activities on average, and Shas was not far behind with 21 activities per legislator on average. Liberman's Yisrael Beytenu surprisingly scored low, averaging only 17 activities per legislator, surpassing only ultra-Orthodox UTJ, at the bottom of the list with 16 activities per legislator.

In the Likud:

If you have Likud primaries voting rights, or want to have these rights (contact us mattot.arim@gmail.com to find out how), here's what you need to know before voting in the next primaries:

Highest individual scorer in Likud (in the whole Knesset, in fact) was Yariv Levin with 116 points, far exceeding the next top Likud contenders, namely Zeev Elkin - 69, Danny Danon  -66 and Zipi Hotovely - 63.

Zion Pinian, an Orthodox novice Likud MK, was next with 31. In the 20's: Ayub Kara - 29, Miri Regev - 29, Carmel Shama - 28, Silvan Shalom - 26, Ofir Akunis - 26, Yuli Edelstein - 25; Ruby Rivlin - 22, Gilad Erdan - 22, Michael Eitan - 21;  and Leah Nes - 21.

Likud legislators and Likud ministers scoring in the teens included Bogy Yaelon - 18, Haim Katz - 17, Gidon Saar - 16, Benny Begin - 16, Limor Livnat - 15, Yisrael Katz - 14, Yuval Steinitz - 13, Moshe Cachlon - 11, Gila Gamliel - 10.

The lowest scoring Likud reps were Dan Meridor - 2 and Yosi Peled - 9.

Ministers:

As above, Mattot Arim found a low level of activity among ministers. The 3 most active (least inactive...) ministers were Likud (note: National Union have no ministers):  Silvan Shalom (26), Yuli Edelstein  (25), and Gilad Erdan (22) tying with National Home's sole minister, Daniel Hershkowitz. Bogy Yaelon scored 18 points, followed by Gidon Saar, Benny Begin and Uzi Landau, with 16 points. Shas ministers scored poorly, with 8 points for leader Eli Yishai and 5 points for Ariel Atias. The junior Shas ministers were slightly higher rated: 10 points for Yakov Margi and for Meshulam Nahari. Liberman's ministers also scored poorly: 7 points for Stas Miseznikov, 8 for Sopha Landver and 13 for Police Minister Aharonovitch.

Special achievements:

The report also added a special chapter on "important achievements". National Union's  Uri Ariel, highly regarded as a vigorous parliamentarian and expert on furthering Israel's interests in Judea and Samaria, topped the list with four important achievements, for assisting in appointing non-left-wing Supreme Court judges, for watching out for National Camp interests in the all-important Finance Committee at the Knesset, for bringing other legislators to the Shomron, and for passing a law (clemency for anti-disengagement demonstrators), one of the only laws the National Camp had passed in the period covered by the Report.

A surprising second was former-Kadima current-Likud MK Zeev Elkin - 3 important achievements: the long-awaited establishment of the Knesset's Land of Israel lobby together with Prof. Aryeh Eldad, bringing other legislators to the Shomron, and passing the disengagement demonstrators' clemency law. Begin, Yaelon and Edelstein (Likud), Eldad (National Union) and Rotem (Yisrael Beytenu) chalked up two important achievements each.

Individuals:

The highest scoring ultra-Orthodox legislator was Rabbi Chaim Amsalem (46). Menachem Porush scored poorly (11 points).

The highest scoring female legislator was Zipi Hotovely (63).

Methodology:

All types of ministerial and parliamentary activities were culled from local and foreign press, from party websites, individual MK websites, Knesset website, National Camp activist groups, regional councils and communities, from our activists, and of course from the legislators themselves. Level of activity was defined simply as the number of parliamentary and governmental actions, such as interrogatories, bills, votes and agenda-setting, initiated by each minister or legislator on issues of importance to the National Camp.

ACTION ITEM: Encourage the good guys!!

Please write to the ministers and MKs, tell them you are aware of the Mattot Arim activity report and will strongly appreciate their continued hard work on topics such as building Judea and Samaria, hasbara on dangers of Palestinian state, formulating a tough plan of action responsive to the Palestinian boycott of our goods, etc.

A list of 49 email addresses is above, in blue, in the Hebrew section. And here's a who's who webpage to click on, if you want to write to a particular minister of MK:  http://www.knesset.gov.il/mk/eng/mkindex_current_eng.asp

Thanks for encouraging good political behavior up on top! As you know -- it's up to us, and we know for a fact that the ministers and MKs are anxiously waiting to see how many of us noticed what they did (or didn't) do.

Let's not disappoint them. Very sincerely, Mattot Arim
