במקביל למכתבים, קיבלו גם ראשי המועצות טלפון מלשכתו של מח"ט הגזרה והובהר להם כי ייתכן שפעילות ההריסה תחל כבר בימים הקרובים.
תושב גוש שילה לחדשות 0404: "קיבלנו הודעה מהמועצה על כך שהבית שלנו מיועד להריסה. אני מאוד מקווה שהתכנית הזאת לא תצא אל הפועל כי יהיה כאן תוהו ובוהו".
גורם במשרד הביטחון אמר לחדשות 0404 כי, "מדובר בהצטברות של מבנים בלתי חוקיים והחליטו עכשיו לטפל בנושא. שוחחו עם ראשי היישובים בכדי להבהיר להם שכדאי לשוחח עם המשפחות ולמצוא להם חלופה בכדי שהפינוי לא יהפוך לאלים".
לחדשות 0404 נודע עוד כי בשבועות האחרונים כבר היתה אמורה התכנית לצאת אל הפועל, אלא שאז התקיים דין ודברים על פני כמה ימים בין ראש המועצה האזורית שומרון, יוסי דגן, לבין שר הביטחון, משה (בוגי) יעלון ובמועצה הצליחו למנוע את תחילת ההרס. בנוסף, גורם ביטחוני אמר לחדשות 0404 כי נוצרה בעיה עקב הטרור הגובר ומיעוט כוחות שיכול היה לקחת חלק במשימת הפינוי.
