Netanyahu on the Jewish State Bill

Paul Eidelberg

"People ask who needs this bill; we have managed 66 years without it," Prime
Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said ahead of the [Knesset vote on the Jewish State Bill].
"Israel," said Netanyahu, "is a Jewish democratic state. There are those who want democracy to take precedence over Judaism, and those who want Judaism to take precedence over democracy. In the law that I am bringing, both principles are equal and must be given equal consideration." (My emphasis)
Okay: you don't have to be a rocket scientist to dissolve this obscurantism.

Just suppose that the Arab citizens of Israel hold a majority of the seats in the Knesset, and that, by a democratic vote, decide to transform the "Jewish" state into an "Islamic" state.

Whoever insinuated that BB is stupid?  Perhaps he's suffering from a mental disorder such as schizophrenia, one symptom of which is escapism, of living in denial.

Conversely, a psychologist might say, "NONSENSE! The man is just being disingenuous, quite common among politicians!☼
