Share This Message With Your Friends and Family - Dear Robin, As American children are donning backpacks for the trek back to classrooms across the nation, California students are faced with the potential of being used as "guinea pigs" on a newly proposed Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum (ESMC) that offers a textbook case of antisemitic, anti-Israel political indoctrination. Should it be adopted, unthinkably, what begins in California may cross the nation. High school students will be offered the potential of a full course of learning in their classroom that paints a portrait of Israel and its Jewish supporters as part of a system of oppression and privilege that must be fought with resistance, as a turn of the page onscreen offers Arab-American studies that read like Hamas propaganda. Should we be surprised that a trio of members on the advisory committee that developed this ESMC content are rabid antisemitic academics whose anti-Israel hatred and outspoken bias are well documented. And this attempt to "trickle down" hostility towards Israel into our children's high school classrooms comes at a time when antisemitism and violence against Jewish students on America's college campuses is skyrocketing. It shouldn't be shocking that the content material prepared for students includes the positive character study of national figures such as Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib and infamous Women's March leader Linda Sarsour—all of whom are associated with antisemitic and anti-Israel rhetoric—and in the case of Omar and Tlaib—a push towards Congress enacting legislation punishing Israel. Certainly they are not role models to be held up to our students for the representation of the values we cherish. Outrageous! PJTN has gone on record to join more than 83 national pro-Israel civil rights, human rights, religious and education organizations to file a formal letter to the California Department of Education demanding safeguards against political indoctrination, such as that we have found exists in the new curriculum, being identified as AB 331. Our communication states in part: "We agree that the ESMC must be drastically revised or completely re-written. We must ensure that its drafters will not be permitted to use the model curriculum to promote political, ethnic or religious enmity towards any group or weaponize high school students to take action based on enmity towards any race, religion, group or individual." The proposed curriculum is currently going through public comment in California and is expected to go through revisions, followed by final approval next year by the state's Board of Education. PJTN Watchman—we must not remain silent! I urge California Watchmen to contact your local legislative officials up to and including the office of Governor Gavin Newsom. Click here for contact information and letter templates that you may simply print off, sign, and mail. The battle for the hearts and minds of the next generation of leaders in American stands before us as the new school year begins. The warfare is as near as your children's classroom–K-12. PJTN is leading the march in exposing the "disinformation" and propaganda being presented to our children—much of it antisemitic and anti-American. I encourage you to check the study materials being presented to your students in this new scholastic year. Be vigilant, be pro-active! Please consider your best gift to PJTN this week. We will continue to be your eyes and ears on the battlefield! |
