IN MEMORY of CHAYA SALOMON, HY"D 

Last Friday night, three precious Jews were stabbed to death by an Arab terrorist in the community of Chalamish (Nevei Tzuf) in the southwest Shomron in Israel as they sat at the Shabbat table. 

The dead are Yosef Salomon HY"D (70), daughter Chaya Salomon HY"D  (46) and son Elad Salomon HY"D (36).

Chaya Salomon worked as a teacher at the girls state-religious school Noam HaMeiri in Lod for 18 years. Last week, she won the title "Lod's Excelling Teacher" and was honored at a ceremony at the school.

"Chaya knew how to let each of her students express herself. She always knew where each of them was, she'd write personal notes for each of them in their report card. It was very important to her to have the girls reach academic accomplishments. But more than that, she cared about instilling values, good character, friendship between the students. If something happened in class, it was important to her to talk about it and resolve it. She wanted the students to respect one another. She was devoted to the girls."

Chaya wrote a beautiful Report Card for her students. Here is a copy below with an English translation: 

DEAR STUDENT,

WHEN GIVING OUT REPORT CARDS, I ALWAYS REMEMBER ANOTHER SORT OF REPORT CARD SIMILAR TO ONE GIVEN OUT AT SCHOOL

A REPORT CARD WHICH OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN WHO DWELLS IN EVERY PLACE GIVES OUT

BUT INSTEAD OF ACADEMICS AND TEST RESULTS,  

HE DISTRIBUTES RESULTS FOR THE FOLLOWING SUBJECTS:

FRIENDSHIP, 

   PATIENCE, 

      UNDERSTANDING AND LOVE 

         A GOOD HEART, 

            RESPONSIBILITY, 

               RECOGNIZING THE GOOD IN OTHERS 

                  AND HUMILITY. 

THIS REPORT CARD IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANY OTHER REPORT CARD, NOT ONCE OR TWICE A YEAR, BUT EVERY PASSING MOMENT, BECAUSE MANY TIMES, IN THE RUSH OF LIFE, WE FORGET TO BE A PERSON WITH GOOD MIDDOT. 

AND THAT IS THE REAL TEST IN LIFE!!!!
