Robin,

It's Monday morning, so here's this week's first OUTRAGEOUS Trump non-scandal: New York-based US Attorney Preet Bharara was fired by the President after he refused an order from Attorney General Jeff Sessions to submit his resignation. In classic disgruntled ex-employee fashion, Bharara hinted that he was really fired because he was going to investigate Trump for violating the emoluments clause of the Constitution by taking money from foreign leaders. That has set Democrats howling because to them, even the tiniest whiff of a scandal attached to Trump is like a bump in the night setting off a houseful of yapping Chihuahuas. Bharara then announced that he was launching his first Twitter account, which most take to mean that he hopes to parlay his diss to Trump into higher political ambitions.

Okay, let's grab the Garden Hose of Reality and spray some cold water on the Chihuahuas. First of all, Bharara is the one in the wrong here. Trump is absolutely within his powers to demand the resignations of US attorneys he believes will not support his agenda. Every President since Reagan has done it. Clinton fired all 93 US Attornies in one day.

Also, Bharara was not fired because he was investigating Trump. He was fired because, unlike those 45 other US Attorneys who were not investigating Trump but were let go anyway, he defied a direct order from his boss to hand in his resignation. It's not a violation of the emoluments clause for a foreign government to pay rent to a hotel owned by a company Trump has legally separated himself from; besides which, to avoid any question of impropriety, the company is giving any rental proceeds to the US Treasury (I notice Obama-appointed US Attorneys weren't such sticklers for the appearance of impropriety about government officials' family businesses taking money from foreign governments when Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State.)

The media are trying to paint Bharara as a brave, impartial crusader for justice because of his investigations of top New York Democrats. That is to his credit; then again, if you're the US Attorney overseeing New York, investigating the top Democrats in Albany and New York City is like shooting fish in a barrel. But Bharara's record also includes some troubling incidents, such as subpoenaing Reason.com in 2015 to try to force the website to turn over the identities of people who left angry comments while threatening the site with federal charges if it publicly revealed that the government was targeting commenters for exercising their free speech rights. So maybe that's why Trump wanted Bharara's resignation: we know he really likes exercising free speech on the Internet.

Sincerely,

Mike Huckabee

Spicer Assailed By Leftist Nut

By Mike Huckabee

Liberals are taking their traditional lack of boundaries to new extremes, as Trump spokesman Sean Spicer discovered. He was trying to shop in an Apple store in DC when an extremely rude woman began berating him, calling him a racist, accusing him of treason, and demanding to know, "How does it feel to work for a fascist?" She also claims his response to her public meltdown offended her. Considering what he was responding to, I'd say she doesn't have much room to complain.

A friend suggested a better response that he might want to memorize for the next time some unhinged liberal asks, "How does it feel to work for a fascist?"

"I wouldn't know. How does it feel not to know what 'fascist' means?"

White House Security

By Mike Huckabee

The security level at the White House was temporarily raised Friday night after an intruder climbed over the fence on the south side. He was apprehended before he got to the White House, and his backpack was found to contain nothing significant. His name wasn't immediately released, and his motives are unknown.

Still, why don't we just say that he was inspired by the reckless, eliminationist rhetoric being hurled at Trump and Republicans in general by Democrats and the liberal media? Hey, if they can blame every hate crime, including all the hoaxes, on Trump and his supporters with no evidence, then why not blame them for inspiring the White House fence jumper with no evidence?

Look what you liberals have done with your angry, hateful words. Aren't you deeply ashamed of yourselves?
