Robin,

So far, liberals have blamed Hillary Clinton's loss on racism, sexism, xenophobia, James Comey, fake news, hacked voting machines and a Russian conspiracy (To quote Graham Parker, "Is this a Russian conspiracy, or is it just idiocy?") Before they take a cue from "South Park" and blame Canada, they need to read this exhaustive report from Politico, hardly a right-wing source. It details how Hillary blew the race in Michigan and hence the election (and $1.2 billion of donors' money) all by herself, because she was a terrible candidate who surrounded herself with bad advisors and ran an incompetent campaign.

Her supporters can't seem to fathom that when you nominate a candidate most Americans distrust; who piously preaches "public service" while getting wealthy off government connections; who told her core voters that she planned to put them out of work; who poured money into states she had no chance of winning while ignoring states she needed to win; who insulted millions of Americans and spent most of her speeches denigrating her opponent; who seemed, as one Ohio Democrat put it, to care more about transgender bathrooms than whether blue collar workers had jobs; and who was under FBI investigation for mishandling classified information – and whose excuse was that she wasn't intentionally criminal, just incompetent – then she might legitimately lose.

Throughout the campaign, I was mocked for predicting Trump would win, but I kept thinking, "How can they not see this coming?" She showed terrible judgment that led to disaster and is now trying to blame it on something from the Internet. Doesn't anyone else see a familiar pattern in that?

Sincerely,

Mike Huckabee

And in case you missed these:

Obama and Planned Parenthood

By Mike Huckabee

It's long been feared by many on the right that President Obama would spend his final days in office issuing a flurry of executive orders, regulations and pardons designed to tie the hands of his successor and cement his philosophies that have for eight years encased economic growth and job creation in…well, cement. While it hasn't yet been as bad as some expected, Obama is taking advantage of the fact that Trump already seems to be Acting President to sneak some stuff under the radar.

For instance, he just built a big, protective wall around Planned Parenthood by issuing a last-ditch rule to bar states from withholding Title X federal family-planning grant funds from clinics that perform abortions. That's something than many red states have tried to do in recent years. It's couched as funding of "women's health," but it's a back alley way to give federal taxpayer money to abortion providers. The rule doesn't take effect until two days before Trump becomes President, and then it might require action by Congress to undo it.

By that time, though, Planned Parenthood might have bigger worries. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley plans to refer several PP affiliates and companies to the FBI and DOJ for investigation and possible criminal prosecution for alleged trafficking in fetal body parts for profit. Grassley said disregard for that law has been fueled by "decades of utter failure by the Justice Department to enforce it." But there's a new sheriff coming to town, and a lot of laws that have been ignored for a long time might start getting enforced again.

Jill Stein

By Mike Huckabee

Give credit where credit is due: Jill Stein said her motivation for demanding vote recounts was to assure Americans that the results were correct and to expose any possible vote tampering. Well, she accomplished the former (her recount of Wisconsin ended up increasing Donald Trump's winning margin by 162 votes), and now, it appears she might have uncovered the latter. In Wayne County, Michigan, home of Detroit, where Hillary got 95% of the vote, it appears that 37% of the voting machines registered more votes than there were voters. And Republicans are calling for an investigation after a ballot box in one Detroit precinct that accounted for 306 votes was unlocked and found to contain only 50 ballots.

Officials are assuring the public that this was just due to human error (did they erroneously think they wouldn't get caught?) Nevertheless, kudos to Jill Stein for helping Republicans make the case that we need Voter ID laws so that Americans can be sure their elections are honest and accurate.
