My husbands letter to a co-worker......

bs"d

Dear Friends and Family, amv"sh

Here is a letter my husband wrote to his non Jewish co-worker.  I thought I would share it with you because I think it's a great letter.  BTW he is a child of a Holocaust survivor.  His mother was from Poland.  So am I. My parents  Czechoslovakian.

Dear Larry,

I'm sick of  diplomatic "friends" telling us to give away more and more of the patrimony of the people of Israel, all the while telling us it's for our good, while the result is the creation of larger and larger "Judenrein" zones in our tiny homeland.

You say it's been noted that the State of Israel possesses from 70 to 300 nuclear devises.

I don't know who's been doing the noting.

Not me.

I don't know whether Israel has one such weapon or a thousand.

Do you?

Israel long-time public policy has been to encourage a state of nuclear ambiguity (which happens to be the title of a book by a friend of mine, Joel Cohen, published in the 1990s) regarding whether it has nuclear weapons.

Such a policy may help deter attacks by certain rational state actors, but is in any case useless with respect to the Islamist zealots and fanatics intent on martyrdom who are increasingly influential in or are coming to or have achieved control of many regimes in the Middle East.

Please read the 83rd Psalm.   (It's the "Poem song of Asaph" that begins (in the King James version):

1

Keep not thou silence, O God:

hold not thy peace,

and be not still, O God.

2

For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult:

and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.

3

They have taken crafty counsel against thy people,

and consulted against thy hidden ones.

4

They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation;

that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.

5

For they have consulted together with one consent:

they are confederate against thee:

6

the tabernacles of Edom, and the Ish'maelites;

of Moab, and the Hag'arenes;

7

Gebal, and Ammon, and Am'alek;

the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;

8

Assur also is joined with them:

they have helped the children of Lot.

Selah.

Nothing's changed but some names in 3,000 plus years.

"They" want to kill us.

("They" of course doesn't mean everybody, but there are plenty of "them" to go around, and if the "others" don't stand up, "they" take control!)

I'm sick of listening to the pretense that this is a mere kindergarten dispute.

The polite version of the subtext being, grow up!

It's an existential fight.

One in which the people of Israel are immensely outnumbered.

"They" won't be satisfied with any compromise.

"They" don't want a state.

"They"  want to displace, destroy, and kill us!

And then erase all memory of us.

Anything else that may be said is mere pretense and delusion (I'll say that too often for Jews, it's comforting self-delusion)!

If this sounds shrill, it's because I see a storm coming, and must sound an alarm for any who will hear.

Sincerely yours,

Jay T.
